NOTE: I wrote this post when I had first joined the site, which is why it takes place back when Finn hadn't yet seen the library. Even though this is technically set several months prior, what happens in this thread could affect Finn's present-day. Don't think too hard about it.

Finn, after briefly getting lost, finally managed to find the library. When he entered, he found his breath taken away. While all of Hogwarts was incredible, Finn continuously found himself blown away at every small aspect he encountered. Finn had never seen so many books before. He wasn't even sure he'd see 1/100th of this many books before.

He had come with a simple goal in mind - research as much as he could about the wizarding world to avoid embarrassing situations in which is was clear he was a muggle-born. It had been made clear to him early on that being a muggle-born was a bit atrocious to some residents of the wizarding world. Not only that, but his house was apparently also looked down upon. Though Finn seemed to be handed a series of unfortunate events, it didn't dampen his spirits nor his excitement to be here.

Though first, he had to figure out where the history books he was searching for were. If earlier in the day was an indicator, Finn was surely going to be lost before he knew it. Frantically, he looked left and right for someone he could possibly ask to help him in the right direction.

Trying to Fit In PV Ruby Cazares
~ * ~
Libraries were a home to Ruby. She could often be found spending time in them, constantly reading books or observing people, trying to learn all that she could. Knowledge was something that she had a deep desire for, and she intended to find out a great deal by the end of her time here at Hogwarts and later in life. Her good memory allowed her to remember the information she gathered, which was a useful trait that had come in handy many a time. She was very dedicated to what she did, yet her goal was not only to learn as much as she could, but to also have time to do other things and remain in a state that involved very little stress. So far, it had been successful.

She sat straight-backed at a table with a stack of books in front of her. One book was open, and her eyes darted across the pages of it as she read quickly. When she got to a break in it (the beginning of a new chapter), she paused to look up and make sure that nothing had changed since she last observed the occupants of the room. Apparently, something was different. A Hufflepuff boy had entered that wasn't previously there, and he looked simultaneously amazed and lost. The library was amazing, Ruby definitely agreed with that expression. So much information in one place! The look on his face suggested that he hadn't been here before, though, and he seemed slightly panicked as he glanced around. Was he looking for something? Did he need help?

The Slytherin rolled her eyes and looked back down at her book. She didn't need to care or make a move to assist him. It wasn't her job to help confused little Hufflepuffs. Surely they were able to find their own way, or think to ask the librarian for help, right? A small sigh escaped her lips. Perhaps she was being too harsh. After all, it wouldn't hurt her to see what he needed/wanted. If anything, it would only help her by reinforcing the act that she wanted to help anyone and everyone and that she was totally friendly. Maybe it wasn't an act? Ruby hadn't figured that out yet, but she doubted that she was really the person that she pretended to be. Her heart hadn't been behind many of the decisions she had made recently, but she had often found herself starting to care not long after she had faked the act of kindness and caring. Keeping up appearances was tiring. She generally ended up either feeling genuinely or leaving. She didn't have enough time to waste on people that she wouldn't want the company of later on.

With one final analytical scan of the boy, Ruby rose from her chair and made her way over to him in her normal manner – elegantly, smoothly, and silently. She had a rather peculiar air about her in general. It was one that showed sharp intelligence, quiet confidence, ambition, determination, power, and passion. These mixed together to create a feeling about her that most people couldn't pick apart, and the fire in her eyes that was created by this was normally masked by her cold, calculating nature. Nevertheless, she now addressed him. “Hello. Are you looking for something, Mister…?” She trailed off at the end, implying that he should fill the blank with his last name. Formalities, of course. She was raised with them and had no intention of forgetting them now.
