Fallen Ice Cream for the Rowdy PV Victoria Lena Jones Fin

"I don't really have much experience with like rats or mice, actually..." The last time she had even actually seen a rodent would've been years ago, considering the only time she ever did see them was in her family's home in 枫泾镇 Fengjing , and they definitely didn't come to her current home in Ely. Something about her parents hating them, which was understandable. Still, Scout thought they were very cute.

With Victoria mentioning a pet, Scout groaned and shook her head. "I've been begging my dad for months to get me a pet! I want one so bad, but he doesn't think I'm ready, or something like that." Admittedly, she looked a bit like a cartoon character with her dramatized pout. It was so unfair, though! She was definitely responsible enough to take on a pet, and it wasn't like she would ever put it in harms way- and she'd remember to feed it! Despite her begging and begging, nobody would give in. So here she was, starting her first year at Hogwarts without a single companion. So boring!

"Also... being a Metamorphmagus is so cool!" Her experience with other magical races- similarly to her experience with rodents- was little to none. Though her father was also a dhampir, he was the only dhampir Scout knew besides herself. Her 妈妈 mum/mama had some ministry friends that were werewolves or seers or whatnot, but Scout couldn't say that she knew them on a personal level. Which was a bummer, because that must be so cool! "So you can change the way you look, right? I don't know a whole bunch about Metamorphagi, but I know that they can look different if they want. That must be so fun! I'd probably make myself super tall if I could."

"If you want, I can give you information about this subject. It is one of my interests."

She spoke in a friendly voice. Tori would like to share the information with someone else. She had a lot of time since she hadn't talked to other people since she was little. She continued eating her ice cream.

"Don't worry, maybe if you get good grades or don't misbehave, maybe your parents will pick it up. This way, your family can see that you can take responsibility. I'm glad my family got Vick before the year started."

If her mother had said she'd get Vick if he behaved this year, she wouldn't have been able to get her pet mouse next year. She looked at his mouse sitting on the table. She placed her ice cream strawberry side on the table.

"Yes, I can change my appearance, but I can only change one side of me, and right now I can't change my height either. What about you? Your skin is very pale."

She said the thought that was on her mind without even thinking about it. She always said things that had been on her mind since his childhood. 'I hope this question doesn't bother her,' she thought. '

"You're so hopeful! I could probably get straight O's and he'd still think I wasn't ready." Her argument would only be true if she could actually achieve straight O's. Scout wasn't stupid or anything like that, but her teacher's would describe her as 'someone who could do with more studying' or 'not really committed to the work'. Who would wanna waste their time studying when they could pass a test without? Sure it wasn't the highest grade in the class, but it wasn't a fail! She hated the idea of studying when she could go outside and play.

"Oh..." Scout looks away when Victoria mentions her pale skin. She should try and get the conversation away from her own oddities. If her newfound friend mentioned her pale skin... she also might start to see her highly dilated pupils or her sharp nails- and then it might divulge into talking about her obvious gaps in her teeth. "Um... yeah, I guess I just don't tan well or something like that. I just burn pretty bad." That was a normal thing that normal people did, right? Burn in the sun? That wasn't just a dhampir trait, right?

"It's cool that you can change your appearance, though!" Her dad would do this trick when Scout's aunties would talk about something that annoyed him. He'd basically shift the conversation back onto the person themselves! Ha, Scout was practically a genius for remembering such a thing! "So like... as you get older, will you learn how to control your ability more? That's cool!"

"What exactly is 'O'? I don't understand."

Maybe it was something related to wizard world. She had only known about the wizarding world for a short time. Before eating more of her ice cream, she picked up the strawberry and placed it on the table for Vick to eat.

"I guess. Maybe. Muggles called it something. I guess your skin is too sensitive. Right? I understand."

She didn't say anything else. When she looked outside, she watched wizards and witches shopping. When she started talking again, she turned to Scout.

"Yes, it is. When I grow up, I will be able to grow or shorten my height as much as I want. Or I will be able to make things like animal ears. I look forward to that time."

She said, fascinated and excited. That's why she was eagerly waiting to grow up. In this way, she could make people's appearances.

"So, are you done with your shopping? Or how much more supplies do you have left to buy? Or if you could afford and buy any item you wanted, what would it be?"

She curiously asked the question on her mind. Tori didn't know what else she could get, but as she was wandering around, the brooms caught her attention.

"Apparently it's when you get a really high grade on an assignment. Like, 'O' means 'outstanding', 'E' means 'Exceeding Expectations', et cetera. Don't know why they don't just use the standard grading system like A-F, but I guess it's more wizard-y?" That was probably the reason, that and the fact that 'Troll' sounded pretty funny for a grading term. Yeah, that's right! You did so bad on your homework that it's graded the same as a troll! That'd be funny.

"Man, that's so cool! I wanna be able to change my appearance, too!" Being able to change the color of your hair or give yourself bunny-ears whenever you wanted sounded awesome! And you could make yourself taller? Ooh, Scout would totally use that however she wanted! She'd make herself way taller than her dad, and then be like 'you have to get me a pet, muahaha!' "But you have to wait pretty long to be able to do that, huh? I wish you a very exciting metamorphagi-journey!"

As Tori kept talking, Scout noticed her dad walking out of one of the stores with some bags in hands. Oh, crap, she totally forgot about the fact that they were literally here to shop! At least he hadn't expected her to get anything, just to chill and get some ice-cream. Scout definitely would've forgotten any task she had been given, squirrel-brain.

"Oh, Tori! My dad's waiting for me. I gotta skedaddle." She quickly stands up, making sure to not make a mess when she does so, and flattens out her shirt. "Also, to answer your question- if I could get anything, I'd totally get a pet. Wait- that's not really an item... um... uh..." She pondered the question for another second. "Oh! I'd get a stuffed animal of my future pet! That's an item, right?"

Scout threw away the paper around her ice-cream, and raced to catch up with her dad. Man, she really should convince him she needs a pet.
