The First Spell

Hope Pennyfeather had not learned ANY spells yet and was really agitated. When Charms class came....well, to say the least she was hopeful. She was hoping to learn, "Wingardium Leviosa" Or, at least that is what she thought it was. So she was pleased when indeed, she was learning the levitation charm. She tried, and it was sent straight to her face! She ducked though, thankfully. Second time's the charm. She thought. Her wand didn't even begin to do the charm. "What is going on with my wand?!" She said with a frown. She remembered that Unicorn hair wands had holders that could be patient when learning spells, and they weren't afraid to get it wrong. Suddenly, she remembered something her mother would do for her whenever she woke up from nightmares. She remembered the song her mother would sing for her. She hummed it quietly to herself. The thought made her sad. She then remembered that magic was fueled from the wand, but her mother would say it was emotion. So Hope gathered all that sadness inside and used that emotion to fuel the spell. "Wingardium Leviosa!" She said. Her feather, this time, levitated. She had performed her very first spell!
