The encroaching shadows of the dungeons offered a strange safety against the searching eyes of her housemates, acting as shield against un-wanted small talk and the slightest bit of similarity to what goes bump in the night. She had nothing to say to these half-familiars bearing her house loyalty and everything to look out for as half of the gathered began to trek further on, splitting into groups and pairs tentatively. Like many things in a group, it occurred slowly. A trickling creek of curiosity winning out over their ingrained idea of self-preservation, a crack within their caution. No longer illuminating their peers as they continued, some people were identifiable only by their floating globules of white light- their most powerful defender against the dark.
Content to hold her place for now as the numbers dwindled, the oppressive combination of her own presence and the eerie surroundings allowing Astrea to blend in well. The chilly nature of these stone walls she sidled up against grasped greedily for her body heat through her thick sweater, silvered eyes diminished in vibrancy with the lack of direct light. Unnoticed she remained, it seemed that she had chosen herself a good spot to keep herself to, to stay vigilant as others passed by. Hopefully, her fellow snakes would have the sense of mind not to thoughtlessly attack her as she made up her mind to move along.
Step carefully, girl. Bottles and other random items lay strewn about the dungeon floors, their sheer number indicating a build-up of time- whether or not they had been left behind by the current or former residents of such a wretched place, she did not know. That unsteady line of powder continued to stretch on into the abyss. As unsanitary the hold's condition, something about it struck Astrea as strangely not abandoned. Perhaps previously travelled by patrolling staff or prowling creatures of the night, but the area did not seem nearly as disgusting as it would have been if truely laid to decay. Interesting.

Dan's eye began to twitch.
First, no one had said hello or even acknowledged that he existed when he tried to be friendly.
Second, Selim hissed and ran away when Dan said hi.
Third, Someone had just rushed RIGHT past him without saying a damn thing.
And fourth, When Dan went to see what the hanging thing was, the door slammed in his face.
Even the DOORS were rude down here. Dan began to wonder if he should have gone with his previous plans of playing with his cat Loki, and initiating a tickle fight with Andrew Vance.
Absolutely unacceptable. Dan was going to go in that room, and gods help whoever it was that slammed the door in his face.
He prepared to kick the door in, when Flash of all people rushed to the door, and asked what happened.
"Well, I come in, all friendly, ye bastards ignore me, I said hi to Selim, and he freaked out and ran immediately, someone walked RIGHT by me and went into this room, and someone slammed the door in my face. Are ye gonna-"
Yes. Yes he was. Flash was going to be the one to break in the door. Fine. Dan was barefooted anyway, and he didnt want splinters from kicking it in.

Ileen lowered her wand with a slight frown. Apparently the chair was nothing more than a chair with a strange message. So hopefully she wouldn't get a number burned on her arm or otherwise signed up for a murderous game. At least not officially…
She turned to the small group, consisting of Jack Burnett and the two Percivals, to share the fact that she learned nothing new about the weird setup as the Gryffindor girl approached her.
Ileen, who had already opened her mouth, paused and turned to the red-haired girl with a curious expression on her face. “No, it’s not. I don’t know what it is though. Something more… more crystalline, almost like salt. Mixed with dirt and blood I guess.” She shrugged and tilted her head. “Any other clues?”
This question was mostly addressed to the whole group. Ileen was obsessed with information. She believed if she looked closely enough she would stay as safe as possible. Although she had made a very different experience in the fight club. There, she had seen things and still hadn’t been able to do anything about it.
As the girl moved forward Ileen tried to catch the gaze of the other boys. She would like to stick together. As long as Percival Gray would not do something impulsive and stupid, the young girl was confident that this team had a high potential to figure things our. More eyes, more ears, more wands.
Believing in the power of groups was not natural to Ileen - normally she rather avoided them, but she felt safe with Percival and liked the sharp mind she associated with Jack. Perce gave her a nod and followed the Gryffindor girl into the darkness.
Ileen felt her pulse quicken and a lump form in her throat. An attentive observer would see her swallow and her hand tightening around her wand. She feared the darkness. The shadows. The shadows which were lashing out, killing people. Although she tried not to let on, her voice trembled slightly as she spoke. She wasn't a coward, but she wasn't stupid either. “Let’s go, right?”
She hoped the two boys would follow her as she turned around and made a few steps towards the darkness. Her hand rested on the stone wall to guide her way. Hm, some light could be useful if they didn’t want to walk around blindfolded.

Despite her best efforts to try to find some new information, some missing clue behind the strange markings and drawings on the walls, nothing quick stuck out or clicked to her. However, the third year was hardly about to give up on her stream of though. The entire situation was mad, whoever -whatever- was hiding out down here seemed mad; therefore it only felt right to try to think mad.Interacting with : @Bridget Collins

As the door was finally opened by a peer's Alohomora, Illowy couldn't help herself but take a couple steps forward, enough to catch a glimpse or two past the small group and into the next room.
Bottles? Just more bottles? She couldn't see much more beyond that, but her intrest was further piqued. She wanted in that room, feeling that perhaps her first instinct had been right. Perhaps this was the way towards where whomever was there was actually dwelling, and there were further clues to be found inside. She needed to press on...
That was, until something much more important caught her attention. She hadn't seen where the strange birds came from, but what she did see was them tangled in the girl's hair. Without a second thought to the newly opened door, much less it's contents, Illowy hurried back towards Bridget. Despite the assault, her roommate's attention seemed fixated on something else from above. Illowy stopped abruptly, sliding a bit on the slick stone as she came to a stop and followed Bridget's line of sight and where she was pointing. Not that she paid terribly close attention. Whatever it was, it didn't seem to be an immediate threat and it would have to wait.
Turning her attention back to Bridget as she finished crossing the room to her, the pale eyed girl could hear Bridget utter a surely reluctant plea for assistance. Of course Bridget wouldn't have had to ask her twice. After all, they were in this strange misadventure together, "Just try to hold still..." she instructed as she held her wand to position.
Trying to get the best aim she could on the fluttering assailant, she spoke, "Depulso!"

In Search of the Source of the Creeping Darkness
@Kaegen Deathmote was hiding down here somewhere. Looking for a place to rest his head. To hide within the darkness that protected him, that hid him so flawlessly. The shadows often lied, as did the stones and the wind. He could hear the wind chitter but the stones were better at hiding their secret truths. There was no rest, there was no respite. The beating heart of this terrible edifice...
Kaegen had prepared a number of traps. Traps that were intended to hinder, hopefully even kill interlopers but the later was a mere pipedream. For when the shadows took form or the stones revealed their truth -- like the chair, that they were alive, they they knew and they were coming. So when he heard them, those nosy, noisy wizards begin to infect his hidden domicile he had to move quick.
Kaegen was no hero, he was not about to warn them likely about the traps. No, they were fodder. If they had found him, actual dangers and greater threats were surely to follow. That is, if he had any assurances that they, the Slytherin force, were not out to get him. To take him. To do terrible things only a troubled imagination could muster.
Quickly Kaegen would take his slingshot and --
Well, wouldn't the narrator like to know.

Room 1
A terrible presence would pass them by, a ghastly harbinger of night, death and doom. It came in a small package, that of a relatively unassuming Asian girl. @Astrea Soleil Neptune would amble silently down the blackened hall, not interfacing, interacting or intervening with her surroundings. Like something out of a Japanese horror flick, just not as much disembodied screaming or blood for that matter.
"there's a strong smell of blood and a human. One that isn't here or possibly a slytherin, I think they were living here or hiding here,"
"There's something here, a smell that resembles the potions room. Do you smell it Red? What do you think it is? ...I'll explain later how I know but I think their is someone injured in the dungeons from the amount of blood I smell. I think they need help, Red."
Why he decided to keep this secret was anyone's guess, but H2 would move away from the strange resting place, down a flight of stairs into the next room. Would Evelynn keep Henry's whispered words secret?
Eve would take that hair, it was quite long and stow it away in one of the many bottles left discarded and forgotten on the floor. How many blondes did she know that had very long hair? Likely several.
There were other conversations that she was allowed to overhear. Such as the comments made by @Jack Burnett and @Ileen Knight would pique her interest -- something besides chalk? A rather interesting find.
They, Jack and Ileen should team up with her (Evelynn). They should catch up to the others, otherwise they would risk being left behind.

[Kaegen, your location is 15B, you can move 2 rooms as you are familiar with them. There are traps in just about every room so please just state movement. There is a secret passageway from 15B to 6B also. Just don't describe it if you choose to take it. If in unlit areas contested wisdom checks to see if you are seen by someone. @Henry Knight could smell blood, a scent that could linger in the air for some time but as blood putrefies it takes on a very specific and peculiar scent. Henry would whisper to his friend @Henry Llewellyn, feeling as if he was sneaky enough as to remain unheard by the girl nearby bt the dice would decide that truth.Astea moved on to Room 2.

Why he decided to keep this secret was anyone's guess, but H2 would move away from the strange resting place, down a flight of stairs into the next room. Would Evelynn keep Henry's whispered words secret?
They would leave @Evelynn Decipio alone with her thoughts, a single light colored strand of hair and a hole in a wall. It was a resting place, a tiny, narrow but safe and secure hidey hole. The sort of thing beasts do, find a space they can curl up and wait for the passage of night undisturbed, unfound and safe.Henry Knight and Henry Llewellyn would move on to Room 2.
Eve would take that hair, it was quite long and stow it away in one of the many bottles left discarded and forgotten on the floor. How many blondes did she know that had very long hair? Likely several.

They, Jack and Ileen should team up with her (Evelynn). They should catch up to the others, otherwise they would risk being left behind.
@Percival Rainwood would hardly notice any of the other Slytherins in the dungeons curiously prodding about. That is until he saw @Michael Miller, a first-year that he 'had no apparent interest in' but was one of the few he even bothered to notice. He would encourage Jack to move on with him.Evelynn would move on to Room 2.
Percival would move onto Room 2.[/mention]
Late-comer @Violet Carrington would amble down the falls, following the patter and the chatter of others. She would see a great many things in the wake of her peers. Evidence of their curiosity. The trail of white a bit scuffed as it meandered down the narrow halls and dark corridor. It drew her past the chair that had piqued so much curiosity as well as the hidey hole along the base of the wall not much further down.
She would not stop, no she would move on. Down the stairs and into the next room. Where the chatter grew louder and a dim light beckoned her.
@Ileen Knight would be among the last that remained. She was soaking up whatever information she could obtain from her friends and her peers. It was always the little things that tripped people up. That caused real issues. There was also something about @Percival Grey besides his good looks. Something that incurred a sense of trust, how? That is a query for another day, his Snape roomates could take notes from him if that was the case. The lot of them oozed suspicion.Violet moves to Room 2
As long as Grey was here, she felt secure. Perhaps that was her first mistake, if not her first, her largest thus far but the day was young.
Room 2@Ileen Knight moves on to Room 2.
@Astrea Soleil Neptune would linger like a spector in the night. Watching the comings and the going. A witness to the screams...
@Violet Carrington would find this congregation of students concentrated on this room. A peculiar scene to say the least. The darkness gave way to light and the distant din of chatter grew in volume.
With the warm glow of Henry's Lumos Maxima, @Henry Knight and @Henry Llewellyn would emerge from the staircase into the lower part of the dungeons where several of their dormmates loitered about. There were some who had already understood the potential gravity of the situation but allowed indecisiveness to grip them, such as @Koko Riddle who pondered which way was the right way? Was there even a best path at all. How should they go about this? Not that Slytherin was particularly known for their teamwork and strategy. Her sister, @Sapphire Riddle would suggest the left.
“Maybe the left? I don’t think anyone’s been that way."
She likely did not notice Alexander and Flash, the bird in poor @Bridget Collin's hair... she was right in that they had not gotten past, they had unlocked the door only to find that the room was filled with hundreds of glass bottles of varied sizes. Many filled with mysterious unknown, unlabeled fluids.
"Even if they have... I doubt it's the most popular way to go. If needed, I can use my wand for spells and stuff so that you can keep your lumos going.”
Bridget would let out a shriek, one that was loud enough for even @Selim Faust to hear. there was a bird in her hair! She would not try to pry the frenzied creature free with her own hands, rather she would call our to Illowy to deal with the bird. Her plan, knock the bird out of her hair with Depulso. Meanwhile Bridget would look up, distracted by her assessment of the ceiling. The shadows and their uncanny movements.
The shadows did not seem to have a particular or a specific pattern, rather an odd curiosity, an ominous mystery that she would have to keep an eye upon.Bridget Observation
Roll: 3
The bird would get knocked from her hair but the bird was very tangled. A ripping sound, yes that was hair being pulled from scalp could be heard by anyone not otherwise dedicated to another diversion. A fresh bald spot on the top of the poor girl's head, she was free of the avian menace but she would need some hair growth tonic once she finished this adventure STAT.Illowy casts Depulso
Roll: 10 (+9)
Opeila would not depend on the kindness or the skill of others, she would reach into her now messy brown tresses and attempt to evict that incessed bird. she would earn herself a serious case of bedhead but be free of the spiteful creature Dmitri had spawned from the very depp hells of his dark heart.
Evelynn would arrive in time to see Opeila peel a bird from her hair. The bird would make a great circle around the perimeter of the room, squaking loudly the whole time. not that it mattered, "Flash!" Indeed, @Flash Holmwood was a familiar face.Opeila no longer has a bird in her hair.
Evelynn would not have long to look over the scene. It was bizarre to say the least. She could not depend on the light from other wands, so she would have to depend on herself. A couple of magical candles and a lighter. It took only a moment for her to light them and when she released the candles, they hung, floating in the air.
"Have you found something?"
Evelynn's passively keen eye would not notice anything amiss. @Sapphire Riddle did not have a keen eye and she was a blonde who in this moment would give credence to a stereotype. The door was open (the previous round), Sapphire would examine the door.Eve's KEEN EYE — There is a 25% chance of automatically finding something.
Roll: 30
Nothing of additional interest could be gleaned as she carefully observed the door. It was an aged wooden door with blackened metal, iron specifically reinforcements; this door might date back to the time when the castle was originally constructed. The door was unlocked and it was open. Beyond the door were a great many glass bottles, Alexander would be carefully removing the contents of the room. She could see all of this. The door was open, there were several students standing right there.Sapphire observes the door.
Roll: 10
@Koko Riddle would offer to unlock the open door. A strange offer considering the circumstances, yet it was doubtful anyone would stop the girls.
"Alohomora."
The door would remain... unlocked. Lear's mighty dice could not make this scene any stranger. Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction.
Delirious?
Well, the door is technically open. So, she would enter Room 10.
Meanwhile, mere feet away, @Alexander Varellion was looking inside the room. @Flash Holmwood's clever decision to cast the right spell in the right place was already paying off. Alex recognized those symbols, Professor @Sergei Yornivych had taught this to him. Perhaps these classes were worth a rat's ass.Koko Riddle would enter Room 10.
"These are the symbols of the magical alphabet. I remember it from Transfiguration."
The boy would mention out loud. It might take a few moments to work it out. To recognize and to remember. There was a difference between translating and fully understanding, but first he needed to know what it said.
"Okay, first word is MEET, second word, M-E-A-T, third word H-O-G-S, fourth word, MEADE......."
He had to work this out out loud. Unlike some, he would not whisper the secrets he had learned but rather disseminate what he knew freely. Perhaps this was not in his best interest, or perhaps he could commission other minds. Different perspectives. Different skillsets. Different aspirations.
"Wait....... Meet, Meat...... Hogsmeade. It is as if this is a request to meet."
A request or an order. That is if it was so straight forward, Flash would contemplate the possibilities of turning a letter around.
"Ah, then the numbers here, 6621, must be the date....."
Still, should he have shared all he knew all he had gleaned. Probably not.
"Oh crud."
Too late now. Flash had heard it all, coming to conclusions of his own.
"A date would make sense. It fits. What does meeting meat mean? Who would write this?"
Who indeed -- leaving letters in the dungeons for anyone to find. Had this only recently been placed? Unread by the intended invitee. Unaltered. Unadulterated. No secret messages. No secret meanings. How very fortunate it was that they had found this before it was washed away. Do house elves clean the dungeons? It did not look like it - the dust and the cobwebs.
"Is the person someone's meeting at Hogsmeade the 'meat'?"
A terrible consideration. Well, it was hidden without the use of a spell to reveal the hidden words. Perhaps it was presumed that nobody would think to cast that spell in that very location. But the question remained -- who, what, why and of course there?
Evelynn was a fresh set of eyes. Someone that might be able to glean something more from those words. From a meaning, a potential misdirection. Wouldn't it be terribly cruel it it was as simple as meat is two words - me at? Then what of the wrong letter? A mistranscription? An error.
"Take a look at this, it was hidden. What do you think of it?"
In the absence of a Ravenclaw, Evelynn would have to do.
Well, carrying on. Alexander would start to remove the bottles and there were a great many of them. As he removed the bottles, he would discover that they were filled to varying degrees with fluid. The fluids had differing viscosities and color, but most of them were clear. As for those that were colored, it was gem-like in color -- a bright red, a sunny yellow, a deep blue or purple.
He would smell something. Like a cleaning product or a disinfectant. The weirdest janitor's closet to date.
"You can stand on those milk crates, you know. They'll hold your weight."Alexander enters Room 10.
Flash would point out this fact but he would not stay nearby. An alternative was offered, if Alexander had any faith in his agility (and Lear's mighty dice). Flash did make a keen observation without any dice, the possibility that it was an alarm system. A good thought and partially correct. The crack and crash of bottles would alert someone that did not want to be found preemptively -- give them time to escape and if there was no escape, time to hide. That is if the person they were seeking, hunting, inadvertently discovering was a sane, rational individual.
@Henry Llewellyn would look around. There was not much else to do. Not yet in any case. Knight getting some strange smells, was there anything else amiss?
He would not notice anything that has been unnoticed by others. he would see the chaos of a bird in a poor girl's hair. He would hear the muffled screams of an unfortunate behind a closed door before which @Dan Palmer and @Flash Holmwood stood.Henry Llewellyn KEEN EYE — There is a 25% chance of automatically finding something.
Roll: 51
@Percival Rainwood would descend the stairs and enter the room. An odd scene would greet him. His dormmates were scattered here, @Selim Faust was nowhere to be seen. Flash was talking to the Quidditch Captain @Dan Palmer. What happened?
Palmer would answer that, at least from his perspective.
"Well, I come in, all friendly, ye bastards ignore me, I said hi to Selim, and he freaked out and ran immediately, someone walked RIGHT by me and went into this room, and someone slammed the door in my face. Are ye gonna-"
If Flash could understand Dan's accent, all the more power to him. He probably at least caught the name 'Selim' or a reasonably close word. Flash would try to open the door but the door would not budge. The knob would turn, easily. The door would merely not grant him ingress. The unlocking charm would not grant him entry.
Try harder.
Room 3
It probably was not a good idea for @Cassandra Ironwoods to let Starlee take the lead on a murder-adventure. In fact, that would prove disastrous. @Starlee Kennedy and @Santario Martin would find a dry well with a mysterious light coming from it and decide that the best course of action would be to leap inside. A dry well, a visible bottom but no way back up. Not that it looked terrible deep, not superficially in any case. They could see the bottom, beyond their reach and they could see a light coming from the depths just no source. The dim light beckoned them, like moths to the flame they would be drawn. Again, like moths to the flame, they would... die.
Well, not die. You see, there are rules that the moderator follows. Death was off the table, but trauma and terrible injuries however were not. Starlee was not particularly strong (6) or agile (5).
She would attempt to scale the well. Not that the well was intended to be scaled. It was like scaling the castle walls. A lateral descent with a thin bit of mortar binding the large stone.
Once she got over the lip, the toes of her shoes not finding much of a hold, in truth none at all. She would not be the first to fall however as Santario Martin rushed past her. Nobody in their right mind would try to scale the well, if they knew...Starlee tries to climb a lateral surface without climbing gear.
Strength Roll 7 (+6)
San would jump, expecting perhaps an eight to ten foot fall. There was no means to measure, but as she took that leap of faith, the paper. Yes, paper. It ripped, she broke through the floor. San would plummet another thirty feet. A terrible crack, she would hit the ground hard and bones would break.Moderator Note: Santario has no rolls and order of operations falls first because she needed to back out of this adventure and all of these failures would equate to a KO. She has been rendered KO'd.
Starlee would follow, not on purpose. The starling experience of her housemate rushing past her and her foolish endeavor to try to scale something that required nothing short of climbing gear was pure madness. Starlee would fall also, landing on top of Santario, adding injury... to injury.Santario has been rendered unconscious.
Starlee would not be doing well either.
She would feel a sickening crunch and the sudden pain that would shoot through her. A sense of dire dread, this homeostatic instinct that something was wrong. That she was in trouble that would hit her before the pain would. The pain would follow. Her leg was broken, it bent the wrong way. In fact, there was no joint there, it should not be bending at all!Broken Limb Roll: 1- arm, 2- leg, 3 tail bone, 4 - none
Roll:
In the deep, black pit of a well she would discover the source of the light. A single, hovering candle that was lit. It was a trap, the trail would meander here so that it might be followed. The false bottom and the bit of light, so one might explore.
Room 4Starlee has a broken leg and 1 health point. Santario is KO'd.
@Selim Faust was nimble, but he was still in peril. The distressed, diseased vermin were aggressive and it would appear that they have infringed upon either their nest or feeding ground. It would be the later, the scent of aged meat was what drew them and what kept them here. This was a place where their needs were met and where they might breed. If that was not enough he could hear it -- those screams, shrill and not his own coming from where they had come from (belonging to @Bridget Collins). Whatever horrid fate befell them, it was not Piper and Selim's problem yet.
"The girl" as Selim called her, or @Piper Clark was not nearly as lucky as Selim. It was not just the rats but also the young man that she had chosen to pursue. The madness would beckon Selim to move onward. Never lighting a wand, both wise and foolish he would discover because he needed all of his senses to find his way. His hand would grip the knob and pull the door inward.
The rats would leap at him a second time, chasing the boy out.
The first rat would lunge again at Selim and miss. He would open the door to flee into the next room. The second would not only miss but find itself crushed. A terrible *popping* noise and something that resembled a bloody pimple being squeezed out would be the best description of that rat's untimely demise. His failure would not last forever, the third would big its teeth into him.Rat 1 attacks Selim. 18

Piper was left alone, abandoned by her peer. If she was looking for a hero, she would not find that in Selim. His survival instincts were one of the reasons the hat chose Slytherin.Selim has moved on to Room 5A, 1 rat came with him!
The rats were unrelenting.
Two of the rats would bite into her. One would get a firm hold on her, pain would course through the poor girl. Selim had left her to die and these diseased vermin would going to consume her completely. Piper had to try something, she would kick, flail really at the rats. Her Lumos was not nearly bright enough to blind the ravenous creatures even if they left the girl seeing spots when her eyes laid their gaze too long at the tip.Rat 1 attacks Piper. 14 (+5)

Piper would punt one of the rats and it would fly across the room, not that the room was particularly large but it was dramatic none-the-less. The rat would smack into the wall like a bird a glass window in a high rise building. For a moment the rat would remain in place, that was before gravity took hold and the rat slid unmoving to the floor.Piper kicks a rat.
Attack 4 (+6)
Evasion 2 (+5)
Piper would hear it, muffled voices she could not make out on the other side. That being @Dan Palmer complaining and @Flash Holmwood assessing the situation. Sme movement, the doorknob would turn, the door would not open. she had the light, she could see it. Someone was trying to get in but they could not! There was something heavy, a stolen bust, preventing the door from opening.1 rat out of commission.
Please be aware that 1 rat is out of commission, 1 rat has followed Selim, 1 rat was murdered and 3 rats are active and engaged.
Room 5A
As Selim parted, he would hear it. More screaming. Always screaming in his wake. From behind. He had no intention of saving her. Selim would discover that the space beyond was indeed dark and cramped. In fact it was quite small, dimly lit only because the girl he was abandoned had a lit wand. The room had 'art' on the walls.
That covered all four sides, but there was also numbers. Yes, numbers written on the walls in messy, thick writing.
1̵̨̻̤̣̺̫̗̼͕̐͐̆̔̋͂̋͌̕͝ ̴̻̖̖̎̍̽̿2̵̧̛̻̳̠̩̘͈͙͗̑́̊̑̆͗͛̕ ̷͚͕̹̤̥̫͚́͛̈3̸͚̳͕̙̲̭͈͙̜̌̅̕ ̴̡̻́̇̈͋̏̓͒͘4̸̼̈́͗̈́͠

The door would slam shut behind Selim once again, consuming all light. Once the door closed, a thump would be heard on the floor. He would not see what it was but he would know two things about this room.
In addition, he was not alone in this room. Blood at the edge of the door there was also a livem, ravenous rat that came along with him.1. It was very small. Small enough that if he were to extend his arms, he could touch the walls on either side.
2. There was no door handle, but there were doors on every side of him, not just in front of him but also to the left and the right.
3. He could smell flour.
4. There was something heavy once again blocking his way back (as well as someone else's way in).
Room 10
Canaries are sent into mines as a signal, a sign that danger looms. To preserve the lives of valued workers at the expense of their useless, easily replaceable lives. In this case @Koko Riddle was the canary. She would walk past Alexander who had cleared a small partial path and enter the mostly dark room. Yes, Sarah's wand did provide some illumination but not a great deal.
It could be assumed that Koko was not a bull in a china closet, this was not a godzilla playset. She would make an effort to avoid the bottles, but the clearing ended shortly before the penumbra. Her own form and the shadow she cast would further obfuscate her view.
By god, she might not be able to identify an open door as an open door, she could slip between these bottles like a damn champ. She would slither her way into the room her long, slender legs would ease between the bottles leaving them undisturbed.Agility check (avoid the bottles)

Interaction Status: OPENSøren cursed as the tip of his wand sputtered and failed to produce light. He should have known that would happen; magic was never his specialty. Enough successful casts of the same spell did enough to keep his eyes from straining. The boy fiddling with the chair - Jack, if Søren remembered correctly - addressed the now growing number of students in the room. Shock and relief made its way to Søren’s face, as he noted the amount of people who decided to spend their day the same way as him.
“Uh, no. I’m… I’m not sure what’s going on here, to be honest. Or even why I’m here,” he replied. He was telling the truth, there was no feasible explanation for his presence down in the dungeons. His friends weren’t around, and he had no interest in learning of the secrets Hogwarts kept deep below it. Yet something, some unknown thing, was holding him here, and pushed him to go forward, even with lacking magical talent and missing company. Maybe he could find acquaintanceship with some of the crazies who dared to venture beyond the staircase. It’s me. I’m crazies.
Two boys he remembered as Percival, and the familiar Ileen approached, entering his waning bubble of sight. Though, a particularly bright light caught is attention, illuminating the face of Henry Knight. Good, there were people here that he knew. The small crew before him talked on some, but Søren didn’t interject, not wanting his presence to feel intrusive. He instead joggled his wand as if attempting to shake some sense into the thing. “Can you please not fail on me now?” Merlin, what he would do for a broom. Even if he couldn’t fly it, just having one in his grasp would come as a much needed reassurance.
It seemed like the chair was a dead end. Maybe stopping to observe it was not the smart idea he hoped it would be. He could see Henry disappearing as he descended the steps, and the girl in his party approached, much too collected for Søren to take lightly. He suddenly felt underequipped. Certain people seemed to be here with a mission in mind. It was only his curiosity that drew him here. Maybe he should just take his leave now. But as the snakes kept peeling away, making their way down the stairs, Søren knew he wouldn’t abandon the cause. What cause, anyways? Only four of them remained next to the chairs now.
“Shall we, then?” and he trailed behind the rest of his housemates. The room at the base of the steps was bright enough, thankfully. He wouldn’t have to use his precious action on casting Lumos. At least, not right now. Many students milled about the area, and a bird circled overhead. Huh. Well, he’d seen more bizarre things.
Søren saw Flash first, someone from the happenings over the summer that he would rather forget. Before he could debate whether or not to approach the boy, muffled screams from the door behind him captured his attention. I’m going to regret coming down here, aren’t I? Flash had probably already tried casting Alohomora, as he stood with his wand out. Even so, the unlocking charm wouldn’t have ever been Søren’s first attempt at opening a locked door. He was much more of a physical being. He crossed the room and stood to the side of the door, regarding Flash and the other boy with a lit wand.
“So, are we kicking this door down, or what?” Three was better than one and a combined kick was sure to take the thing off its hinges.Movement

" 'Leave my loneliness unbroken!—quit the bust above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!'
Quoth the Raven 'Nevermore'." - The Raven, by Edgar Alllan Poe
▁ ▂ ▄ ▅ ▆ ▇ █ ||~♟~|| ▇ ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁
For a brief moment, he was able to view the caveman-like graffiti on the walls of a narrow hallway lined with doors. His eyes hardly registered the 'art piece' on the wall, twisting with hungry mouths. He had written that off as a part of his millipede-infested hallucinations. He barely filed away the numbers on the wall into his mind-labyrinth. The words though, almost made him want to laugh... almost.
W̴͉̰̘̐̇̉̎̿̓ḩ̴̡͎̺͋͜͜a̴͔̓͆̑͂̐́͜͝t̸̟̼̺̳͎̪̊̈́̃̑͋̕͜ͅ ̶̙͊̑̕͝ͅÌ̷̡͉̙̦̤̪̯̜͐s̸̨̗̼̙̱̉̈̈̄͆̓͘͜ ̸̹̍̂R̴̛̠̪̞̟͊͌́̓e̴̡͉̬̟̻̻̩̤̅͑͗͝͝͠a̸̮̓͌͜͠l̷̤͍̘̗̜͒̓̅?
'Hell if I know, you're asking the wrong person.' He mused to himself, Aku chuckled.
Suddenly, his eyes widened in pain moments after the door blessedly slammed shut behind him, cutting off any remnants of light from the screaming girl's wand. He let out a growl as he heard the squeaking of his pint-sized assaulter. His leg pulsed in pain that was hardly worth noting compared to past pain he'd gone through. It was a fatal mistake on the animal's part though. He knew where it was.
After quickly assessing the room's size, the predatory boy twisted, contorting his emaciated form to grab at the rat in a vice grip that wouldn't hold an ounce of mercy. He aimed approximately where the head was, where the mouth was attempting to chew at his flesh in a fit of starvation-fueled madness. Behind that hungry mouth, behind the sallow head, right around the neck, that is where his aim headed.
Fingers curling around the rodent's throat in a grip he happily put all his strength into, he uncaringly tore it off his ankle, bringing it up to his face (though far enough away that the trapped rodent couldn't nip him on the nose). He hissed out words full of bestial malice, slowly tightening his grip in an attempt to cut off the pitiful, misguided animal's airways.[ If his aim is true and he grabs the stupid rat:]
"You made a grave mistake in attempting to eat me..." He hissed, much like the snake his house's mascot bears proudly. "I've devoured your species many times, I own two animals that are your natural preditors. I have no mercy for rats dumb enough to think that they can kill beings at the top of the food chain even if they're starved."
With that over, Selim tore off one of his sleeves and haphazardly wrapped it around the minor wound. If he got diseased and died he would hardly care. Promptly the boy would stride past the other doors, fingers brushing them as he guided his own steps. He was heeding not to them in his single-minded urge to move forward, further and further from the screaming chaos behind him that was messing with his already-distorted sense of hearing.[If the rat doesn't escape his grip and promptly dies he'd simply drop its corpse to the floor and trample it underfoot as he moves forward. If the rat does escape, look to the next quoted possibility]
Upon reaching the end of the hallway [If he actually does] he peered at the door he knew was there, reaching out to touch the area he had glimpsed it to be. His amber eyes were lazily half-lidded as he zoned out, listening to the cries of his foolhardy peers that were about as well-oiled as a rusty pickup truck. They could barely work together in unplanned situations, he expected them to betray each other without care once reaching something truly a danger to their lives.
Snakes never work in coordinated groups in the wild. They were lone preditors. So why would such a fact be any different in an environment as cursed as Hogwarts?
They all did things with only selfish motivations in the end, hardly an effective dynamic for a pack of wolves, much less a group of 11-14-year-old brats who thought they knew everything about the world around them.
And one wonders why Selim never bothered to try and help the girl who chased him when he was very obviously trying to avoid his snotty peers? Honestly, in that regard he was a better human than most of his housemates, he wore his motivations on his sleeves and was usually quite obvious about how he'd intend to use them for his own gains.
And to many, he was considered less than human.
So what does that say about the rest of Slytherin? Nothing good, that's for sure. If a Slytherin wasn't trying to use 'friends' as tools to craft their future, they were using them to feel better about themselves. A perfect example of the latter group was the Fox.
Selim was basically neither of the two groups. All he wanted was peace and quiet, freedom from the shackles of his past and the cage of his clan. For some reason, no one seemed to actually want that for him.
Jack wanted to 'fix him'. His kohai wanted to study him like a bug under a microscope. His father wanted him to be the perfect heir, the perfect weapon.
His older brother though... his older brother just accepted him and all his broken pieces. His brother wanted him freed from his clan and past. His brother wanted him to be at peace.
Why was no one else in this damned school the same?
Because they saw him as a monster.
Because they saw him as a broken doll they needed to glue back together.
Because they saw him as nothing but an elusive ghost that roamed the halls, muttering, acting like a dangerous madman.
A murderer, a future danger.
.
.
.
This was the truth Selim knew. He wasn't an idiot. In fact, he would've been considered a prodigy had he not been born into the shadow-dwelling Sohma clan. Despite how much his eyes, his mind, betrayed him... he knew it was right about this.
The snake-like boy closed his eyes for a brief moment. Feeling his shoulders strain under the pressure of his reality... it was times like this where he wished the lies his mind conjured up would consume him fully, to the point where all he knew was not what the world saw.
Sometimes, he wanted to break down into a catatonic child, confined in a padded prison, lost in his own mind.
At least then he'd be freed from the cruel mistress of life.
"I almost pity you, little Raven, because we both know that'll never truly happen. No one will let it happen. They'll never see the truth. So perhaps, you should take it upon yourself to make that happen... don't you think?" Aku whispered into his ear, the ghost of his touch sending shivers down his spine.
Selim let out a hiss, shrugging off the imaginary fingers.
He definitely wasn't in the mood for Aku's bullcrap at that moment.
[If Selim isn't able to grab hold of the rat;]
Swearing under his breath Selim snarled like a wild dog, eyes flashing with promised suffering. He strained all his senses to find that rabid beast, fingers curled into claws with the urge to tear it limb from limb and paint its blood on the walls to make his own 'art'.
If the rat had run into the shadows and wasn't still digging into his flesh, he'd let out words with harsh undertones of an enraged monster roaring into the inky, pulsing shadows.
"COMe oN oUt LittLE RoDenT. HOw AboUT you TRy FOr aNoTEHr BIte!?"
An insane smile curled up his lips as his amber orbs blazed as if lit from the inside by a demon. "I myself am feeling a little... peckish." His tongue ran along his mouth as the wave of bloodlust contorted his thoughts. Dancing thoughts of catching the annoying pest and devouring it curling his insides, releasing from his throat a hungry-sounding growl.
It seemed the rat and pushed him off the edge of his shaky sanity into a churning insanity that only craved blood.
Perhaps it shouldn't've messed with the starving serpent that had been fleeing from it, hm?

Walking to the entrance of the second room, Henry would spot a familiar face. Søren Silverwood one of the only Slytherin's that the boy liked in his house giving Søren a quick nod with a small smile before entering the second room with Henry Llewellyn.
Wand in front still shining with lumos maxima as the twelve year old enter the second room to find almost a rather large group of Slytherin's among the group. If the circumstances were different then the scene set in front could have been described as a social gathering for Slytherin's in the dungeons surrounding by the possibility of injury and murder.
Henry would look around the room and notice three other rooms connecting to the one he stood. Standing close by Henry Llewellyn as the second year whispered within his friend's ear, " which room do you think is the safest to enter?" Having a feeling that each room held dangers within them, it still was good to hope that one was safer than the other but Henry has a feeling while safety in numbers were good perhaps standing with a group of Slytherin's wasn't so moving seemed like a good option as long as he stayed with Henry Llewellyn.
Looking at the other three connecting rooms, as thoughts enter his mind and threaten to lose his focus still no emotion appeared on his face.
Why would there be blood? Could someone be injured or dying or already dead here? Maybe somewhere here there are piles of dead or injured? Perhaps we should turn back and get another professor and even the headmaster? Their adults they should know what to do but what if their too late or or.... they try to cover it up? No, they wouldn't do that... would they?
Hogwarts hasn't always been a safe place and maybe it holds more secrets then we know of.. maybe they would cover up any dead students to keep the school running... no they wouldn't do that! They wouldn't! That's not morally right... but how do I know...
Still we could be walking into a either people already dead or dying or we could be next? We could end up dead or injured or or.... I really need to leave... I shouldn't be here... this is stupid and reckless and I know Arthur wouldn't do this and wants me to stay away from this type of stuff but what if someone needs help then shouldn't we help them... or get a adult that knows more of about this stuff or... or... breath just breath then turn around and leave to get a professor.. alright... wait is that?
Eyes flickering past a room Room 3 Henry saw a familiar glimpse of purple hair that the boy knew of only one to have; Cash Ironwoods. However what the boy was curious in was the fellow purple haired slytherin seem to be leaning over something in the next room.
Wait wasn't Cash with Starlee?
Trying to remember when everyone first entered the dungeons how he remembered seeing Cash and Starlee together now looking at the purple haired slytherin hunched over something in the next room.
Could Starlee be injured or unconscious or hopefully not.. dead..
Deciding not to waste anymore time with his thoughts, the twelve year old may have anxiety but he wad loyal to a fault and at certain times brave as he turned to Henry Llewellyn and again whispered to him, " I think someone injured in that room, red," Henry would carefully point to room 3 before turning back to his friend as he whispered" we have to help them Red," nodding to his friend before keeping his wand in front of him and carefully advancing to room 3 ready to help with whatever was needed

In Search of the Source of the Creeping Darkness

Flash listened to Dan's complaints, hoping the retreating Lumos Maxima from the room wouldn't betray his lack of concern. His captain might have been clever with Quidditch tactics, but had he really come to this deathtrap expecting a friendly soiree? He should be upstairs sitting at the Hufflepuff table if he wanted pleasant, friendly company. Flash definitely did not want to waste time chatting, and he doubted Dan knew Selim very well at all if he thought he would be any friendlier.
"It suddenly shut... I see." Flash reiterated, not feeling the need to placate Dan's bickering.
Trying the handle, it moved easily, yet the door wouldn't budge. Trying a few times uselessly, he wouldn't even draw his wand back out. If it were locked, the handle would have seized, not jiggled freely. He'd been in a locked room enough to know what it felt like. It must have been stuck-- magically or otherwise.
Perplexed and flirting with outright panic, his nearness to the door would have him hear the continued struggle and sounds of pain from a girl inside. The mystery would have to wait so long as someone needed him. To his surprise, however, he was joined by a familiar face. Someone about equally as tall and handsome as Flash himself-- Søren Silverwood. My hero, Flash would think, perhaps with a hint of sarcasm.
It wouldn't be far from the truth, though. When Flash had tried to get Varellion to surrender at the fight club, he was instead attacked. What happened after that was... Søren immediately pummeling Varellion into submission. Flash might have landed the last hit, but it would have been nothing without Søren's sheer physical strength. It was because of him that Flash didn't get more hurt, and he hadn't even bargained for his loyalty. Why was it that this erudite powerhouse always seemed to do exactly as Flash wanted, just when he needed it? Well, he wasn't going to complain.
Speaking of Varellion, he hadn't heard any glass breaking yet, which was a good sign. Meanwhile, it sounded like more screams were coming from another direction. Here it was, the pandemonium. To think he was intending to leave them all to fend for themselves. He should have known himself better.
"Yes. Thank you." Flash would put a hand on the door and shout through it, "Stand back!"
Taking a step back, he hoped the slight shakiness in his legs wouldn't be visible. While still available to be talked to, once the signal was given, he would kick the door in unison with his knight in shining armor. Hopefully that would be all there was to it.

Santario had fallen before, this would not be the first, and she doubted it would be the last. She had fallen from trees while trying to climb them to get the best pictures, she had dropped from brooms while trying to learn how to fly them, and most notably to date, she had fallen from the broom while trying to get away after being stung by a mosp. That was probably due to the inexperience of the person trying to help her, but it didn’t matter. That time she might have fallen around the same distance, but she had landed on the somewhat softer quidditch pitch.
Her fingers let go of the ledge, allowing her to drop to what seemed like a short enough of a distance, but instead of the expected hard bottom, her feet broke away the…paper.
Santario Screamed
As she plummeted, what would be no real difference in the height of the fall after the mosp sting. What was the difference was the landing surface. Her scream would be sickening and abruptly cut short by the sound of her body colliding and breaking from the unforgiving ground beneath her. She would not be awake to feel the other girl land on top of her.
Dream sequence
Darkness took her, wrapping her in its loving arms and hushing the scream that emitted from her lips. She was unfurled from a dark cloak and left standing, and there were only two explanations she was either dead or very unconscious. Her body hurt…no, no, that wasn’t right. The body she had left behind hurt and this one wanted to but didn’t quite manage to pull it off, almost like a ghost pain that was just teasing itself into existence.
Santario looked around only to find that she was outside, in the forests, not the forbidden ones, but the ones she grew up around. While it was night, and the sky was empty of its moon, it was full of stars. Yes, if she was dead, she wouldn’t mind staying here forever. She was used to being alone in life; why would death be any different? A pale hand came into her view, extending itself in a way that asked her to take it. If she was dead or dreaming, what did it matter? Santario looked at the figure cloaked with a face hidden in the shadows of its hood. They were large, too large to be a child, but she placed her hand in its anyway.
“Where are we going?”
“Not where you might think, but for a stroll.”
“I am not dead?”
“No, though you may not be far from it. No, I only exist because you exist.”
“Where are we going?”
“Hush, you shall see.”
“Not where you might think, but for a stroll.”
“I am not dead?”
“No, though you may not be far from it. No, I only exist because you exist.”
“Where are we going?”
“Hush, you shall see.”
They walked hand in hand slowly through the trees in momentary silence. Shadows followed them, flitting between the trees right before they passed them, wanting to reach out but pulling away at the last second.
“What are those?”
“You will find out in a moment.”
“You will find out in a moment.”
They broke through to a meadow clearing something in some other space, and time would have been enchanting. After they reached the middle, they stopped; its hand was taken away from her as it took a few steps behind her. Humanoid shadows broached the tree line but did not yet cross into the clearing. Some came in pairs, and others came alone. It felt like she stood there forever staring at them and them staring right back at her. Just as she was about to inquire once more as to who they were, a pair of shadows stepped forward, just enough to be seen, taking on the visage of her parents holding hands. Santario gasped, her hand flying to her mouth, tears already welling up in her eyes.
“Maman, Papa…”
“What happens to their sacrifice if you die? Everything they did, they did for you. Their deaths were so that you could live. This is how you repay them?”
“I-I was just trying to…
“We won’t hear excuses here!”

“I-I was just trying to…
“We won’t hear excuses here!”
Another figure stepped out a little way away, and Santario’s eyes slid over to Alan Vanes with a look of worry and concern, marring his usual smile and laughter. It looked like he was watching over something… or someone.
“In the hospital again? This young boy that you consider to be a brother to you, and yet you leave him to worry over you, wondering if you might ever wake up again. How many times will he have to stand by your bedside? And what about those three over there? You talk a big game about wanting revenge for your parents, but how do you expect to avenge them if you are dying at the bottom of a well?”
Heavy hands grabbed her shoulders, turning her to stare into the faces of those who had murdered her parents. Still, Santario could say nothing; she had no defense. The figure was not wrong.
Turned again, this time to look at a gaunt boy with spider-like fingers, sunken eyes, tattered robes, and a green scarf around his neck. The shadows played around him like a small animal wanting his attention.
“I was just trying to help find him!”
“Yes, at the bottom of a well… Such a great friend you turned out to be. What about these others? Not all friends but still people you care about in one form or another.”

She would see Quinn Healy, Jake Morris, Bridget Collins, and even Erik Tharaldson. Then those hands spun her around to look at the figure once more.
“More importantly… Are you really going to disappoint me?”
Pale hands reached up and removed the figure's hood allowing her to stare into those piercing blue eyes, eyes she would know anywhere. Before she could speak to try and explain herself, apologize, anything. Many shadowed hands grabbed her from behind, pulling her back and down.
She was falling again…
