It was no secret he had a soft spot for his animal companion. Despite their many many arguments and disagreements, he would do plenty to keep her safe. It occurred to him especially this year that not a lot of people would understand why he’d go through such lengths for a snake. They were scary creatures. Depicted mainly as messengers of evil, a bad omen, or a treat meant to cause harm. He had faced plenty of people who were less than thrilled to have Cu Sith in their presence. Thankfully no harm had ever come to her. The worse people had done is call her names in a language she wasn’t aware of and scream at her. Hanako wasn’t going to wait around and wait until someone decides to do something worse than that. Do he decided to create a Pet tonic for her.

This potion wasn’t as puke inducing as some of the other potions he had brewed. Most of the ingredients were plants, which was something that eased him. Firstly he worked on the aloe vera and sliced 12 of them lengthwise. Before adding it to his cauldron, he made sure the actually aloe vera gel had already seeped out of the sliced plants. He then pre-heated the pot to medium. Next was the tad bit tricker part of the potion. Thankfully, he didnt need to touch a drop of the salamander blood. Ensuring he had exactly 8 fl. Oz. of it, he poured it slowly into the cauldron in a clock wise motion. Not being a fan of blood, he didn’t really want to see what the blood was doing to the aloe vera in the pot, moving on to preparing the dried nettles. With ease, he added the dried nettles into the pot and let it do its own magic for about 2 minutes.

While waiting, he chopped 3 Murtlap tentacles. Not his favourite ingredient. As shown by the look of disgust on his face while he turned them into small chunks. But at least it got him to work faster. Since he had a full minute left, he went ahead and got ready the scurvy grass so he could easily add it later once the timer was up. Once it was, he added the disgusting tentacle cubes as well as the survey grass in the cauldron .

And next was the part where he missed his phone dearly. Although he had to wait 46 minutes, he had to stir it every 2 minutes or the potion will be ruined. The things he does for Cu Sith, honestly. She ought to be nicer to him knowing he had to test his patience while he made the potion. But he did it anyway and stirred the pot every 2 minutes in a clockwise motion, growing bored each time he had to do it. Alas, finally it was finished. With a wave of his wand, the potion was complete.

This was a test to his attention span, truly. Hopefully Cu Sith didn’t get in any trouble that needed him to make more of these.

Potion: Burn Healing Paste
Ingredients: 3 Murtlap Tentacles, 4 spoonfuls of crushed Seaweed, 1 Jar of Honey, 2 Measures of Flobberworm Mucus, 1 Sprig of Dittany
Roleplay:

Amadea was back and ready to brew. Today, she had decided to make a very practical potion, not that she often spent time brewing impractical potions, but this one would be especially practical. As a Hufflepuff, Amadea had found that one of the defining features of her house was the tendency to be on fire. Hufflepuffs and fire had a very long relationship with one another, and unfortunately, one that was not always so positive. So, today Amadea was attempting to bridge the gap between her house and fire by making a burn healing paste. Not only would this be helpful for her housemates, but as an avid fan of dueling, fire often made its way into duels. She could easily remedy this with her paste. Also, it might help her overcome her fear of fire.

She took the three murtlap tentacles placed next to the cauldron and added them to the cauldron. Then she grabbed a knife and chopped the seaweed up into small pieces so she could add it to mortar to crush into a paste. Amadea copied this until she had enough seaweed to fill 4 spoonfuls which she threw into the cauldron with the murtlap tentacles.

"One...two...three," Amadea counted as she stirred the mixture three times in a clockwise motion. She turned on the heat of the cauldron to high and waved her wand over it. Then she set a quick timer for 25 minutes; the directions had said to leave it brewing for anywhere from 25-40 minutes, and Amadea was not entirely sure how long she should let it simmer. She hated when directions were ambiguous; it made her confused about what directions to follow. So, she decided to set the timer for the lower end of the range and check the potion continuously until it was ready for the next step.

After an adequate amount of time had passed, she turned the heat off, unscrewed a jar of honey and dumped the entire thing into the cauldron. "One...two," she counted again, stirring clockwise in conjunction with the counting. Then, she turned the heat back on to low, counting for ten seconds before measuring out 2 measures of flobberworm mucus to add to the cauldron. She kept the cauldron on the heat, stirring clockwise on occasion as the directions instructed. She had to continue doing this until the potion's consistency became thick and paste-like. It took less time than Amadea had expected, so she turned off the heat and then added a singular sprig of dittany to the cauldron.

She waited for the dittany to dissipate into the mixture and then waved her wand over the finished paste to seal it. Then she grabbed an airtight jar and scooped the mixture into the jar. Another successful potion for the books!

Del smiled at Professor Regan as she got set up, counting on her fingers each of the ingredients she had laid out in a manner that would make people think she'd used a rule to lay it out like a mathematician. Although in reality, it was moreso she was terrified of getting it wrong and possibly blowing stuff up. This was around the 4th time she had counted her ingredients, making sure she had 3 blossoms of Aconite and 2 sprigs of Valerian and not the other way around.

Pulling her mortar and pestle forward on the desk, she dropped the head of the poppy she had left to dry on a windowsill in her dorm room. With the sun being so hot over the past few days, it easily dried it. Taking the pestle in hand and a deep breath, Delilah pushed down on the poppy head and watched it satisfyingly split and pop. Taking her time, she ground the innards of the poppy to as fine of a powder she could get it to and poured it into the empty cauldron, using the pestle to tap the side and dislodge the parts of powder that had decided they didn't want to leave the mortar.

She took the two valerian sprigs, counting once again that there was specifically 2, and popped them in with the powder, stirring counter-clockwise a precise 3 rotations. She had her instructions handwritten on a piece of parchment to take up less space than her textbook.

This was the point in time where she had to pull on her protective gloves that she had tucked into the waistband of her skirt, she really didn't want to be touching wolfsbane any time soon. Counting the aconite blossoms one final time as she popped the 3 into the cauldron. With a flick of her wand, she now had to start the timer.

Within that 30 minutes, she removed her gloves (making sure not to touch the outsides) and cast a quick scouring charm (or two) on them to make sure she wasn't going to like burn her hands or something next time she picked up her gloves.

Spending the next 30 minutes just sitting, making sure something doesn't go horribly horrendously wrong somehow.

After the time was up, Delilah opened up the small jar that held her Unicorn hair and dropped it gingerly into the cauldron. One little puff of air and it could end up disappearing somewhere. Del definitely didn't feel like squinting and trying to find a literal hair like Velma looking for her glasses.

3 Clockwise stirs, Delilah knew the steps off by heart but she still checked her instructions every 5 seconds or so. She was a bit anxious about brewing her first potion without a professor making sure she wasn't going to blow everything up at any moment. The professor was still there, but she seemed to be preoccupied with... something.

Getting close to the end of the steps, a sprig of dittany got dropped in and another 5 spins in the opposite direction and a swish and flick...joking, just a standard wand wave. And the potion was done!

After decanting the potion into a few bottles. Delilah's wonderful work was over.

Potions class was easily becoming one of Alora's favorite classes. Unlike her other classes, there was a minutia to it that suited her. Where she was often a trainwreck in the kitchen, somehow potions just made sense. Unlike cookies, the taunt of sugar and chocolate and deviations weren't as readily available. She trusted the ingredients list, and didn't feel the need to improvise like she did. And the results and their potential damage definitely kept her attention. The fact that her technology had no life within the walls of the castle probably accounted for her increased focus.

Reading over the recipe she did so twice before settling her ingredients. She would need one dried Poppy head, two Valerian sprigs, three Aconite blossoms, a single Unicorn hair, as well as one sprig of Dittany. With it all before her she read through the instructions to see what format each needed to be in, and looked over the timings to see if she needed to do any prep work prior to beginning her potion. Noting only one ingredient required any sort of preparation, she began her endeavor.

Alora settled her cauldron over the fire, and let it warm to achieve the ideal temperature while began preparation. Carefully, she weighed and placed the single dried poppy head into her mortar, and began crushing it with a pestle. There was satisfaction from the crunch of the dried flora as she brought it to uniform dust. Proud of her results, she added the contents of her mortar to the cauldron. It was followed by two valerian sprigs before she gave three counter-clockwise stirs to her mixture.

Trusting the contents to do their thing, she slipped on her protective gloves to pluck the aconite blossoms from her work table. One by one, she added three to the cauldron. Once her gloves off, she reached for her 34,6 cm chestnut wood unicorn hair wand and gave it a wave. Her eyes darted for the clock. She would have to wait thirty minutes before continuing her work. Carefully lining up her remaining ingredients, she pulled out her parchments to get started on her homework. She figured she had time to answer a few questions before the time was up.

After a few answers accomplished and some notes jotted on the potion, she watched the clock for the last three minutes before resuming her work. With thirty minutes passed, she plucked the single hair of unicorn and set it into the cauldron. This was what would neutralize the poisons of her concoction and ensured any pranks she pulled with it wouldn't result in death. Soon after, she gave the brew three stirs, clockwise this time.

Is it opposite because we're adding a counteracting element to poison? She jots the sentence down to not lose the thought before adding a sprig of dittany, this time stirring five times counter-clockwise.

With a wave of her wand, she completes the potion.

If there was anything Serena Towers was going to make in a potions classroom and want to keep with her, it was Pet Tonic. She never paid much attention to potions, until she realised just how vital they were - and how useful it would be to keep a few to hand. The love of her life - a small brown rat (who actually was not all that small) called Pizza Rat - needed it. He had been with her for years - in fact, he was rather old now. Occasionally, this meant that he was also in danger. Serena had been forging him a few sets of armour - just in case he ever got into a fight again - but it was not enough. What if he got hurt? She was not entirely sure which healing spells worked on pets! What she did know, however, was that pet tonic healed various ailments. It was the best thing for her to keep on her, should he ever need it.

Of course, she hoped he never would but just in case, Serena was standing in the Potions classroom by the desk full of various ingredients that she had placed onto it - ready to brew. Her finger ran down the page of her textbook, trying to make sure she had everything before she started. With a firm nod to herself, she set up the cauldron, setting a flame underneath it so it would start to heat up to a 'medium' temperature. Whilst that was heating up, she grabbed the Aloe Vera leaves and counted out twelve of them. Picking up the knife, she started to - carefully - slice the first leaf, being careful to cut it lengthwise. The leaf started to release a gel. Going the same with the remaining leaves.

Once she had finished, she placed the sliced leaves into the cauldron - which had heated up to the medium temperature it had been set to by this time, as she took a little while to cut each of the leaves. Taking the vial of Salamander Blood, Serena carefully poured the liquid in a clockwise motion as instructed to do so over the leaves. Gosh, potion-making was weird. There were some very specific sets of rules and instructions and she understood how important it was to follow them properly but she also wondered how someone would come up with such things. Like how would you know it should be in a clockwise motion?! How many tests did potioneers do when making up new potions?! It was very hard for her brain to comprehend this.

Putting on one of the gloves that she kept for Herbology on, she grabbed a handful of dried nettles and added them to the cauldron quickly. Did she need the gloves? She was not sure but it seemed safer than getting stung.

Then she paused to look at the instructions again. With another firm nod, Serena took a bunch of the Murtlap Tentacles and started to chop them up into small chunks. She repeated this with two other bunches. Once they had been chopped into small chunks and the potion had been brewing for two minutes, she returned to the cauldron and added the three bunches of tentacles into the cauldron with some Scurvy Grass.

Then she sighed. For the next forty-six minutes, she would have to just sit there and watch the cauldron simmer. She could not even leave to do something else because she had to stir it every two minutes. In truth, she probably should be used to waiting around a lot. She made armour, after all and sometimes, it was just waiting for the metal to melt or cool down and so on. But for some reason, this seemed more boring. It was only the fact that she knew this would be incredibly useful that made her stick around.

Setting two timers - one for the full 46 minutes to signify the end and another that would repeat every 2 minutes, Serena diligently did a singular stir in a clockwise direction every time she was prompted. During these very short breaks, she would continue to sketch on a bit of paper. The sketch was totally unrelated to the potion but she was working on improving Pizza's armour design and these minutes gave her something to do whilst she waited.

A grin appeared on her face as soon as the longer timer finally went off, marking the end of her wait. With that, she grabbed her wand and gave it a wave to complete the potion. This was then transferred into vials.

There was no way one could have enough healing potions, right? Well, Opeila was going to brew another one. This one she had only learnt last year- if only ending her one month long coma had been this easy to end.

Well, what was she to expect, this being a potion with a rather easy seeming recipe. First she filled her cauldron with purified water and set it aside before preparing the first ingredient. Carefully she cut three murtlap tentacles into pieces and tossed them into the cauldron. Carefully not to spill any of the water inside she pulled the cauldron closer and began to heat up the potion just a little.

While leaving it to simmer for five minutes, she hastily grabbed the three lionfish spines she had set to one side and her mortar and pestle. Looking at her watch every few seconds, she began grinding them to a powder, which she added to the powder exactly when five minutes were up.
That was followed by two measures of salt. Quickly Opeila stirred three times clockwise and then added five drops of Wormwood Essence. That part was a little tricky, Opeila had to stop her right hand from shaking by holding it still with her left when she held the spoon with wormwood essence over the cauldron. Partly because she was always a little scared to accidentally spilled, and secondly... because of the scent.

She couldn't put her finger on it just now but the scent of the liquid oddly unsettled her for some reason. Opeila had almost used all of the ingredients she had prepared around her, there was not much left. She grabbed the sprig of dittany and added it to the cauldron before stirring anti-clockwise, five times. Finally she waved her wand over the cauldron. Immediately she filled it into vials, not taking the risk that the remaining heat of the cauldron may ruin the potion in the end, and then finally allowed herself to sit down, taking a deep breath. Potion making tended to stress her out a little...

Setting up the Copper Cauldron on the desk, she started the flame and allowed it to start heating up being careful to keep it at medium heat. As it started to warm up, she grabbed the remaining ingredients out of her bag and placed them on the table. She borrowed a mortar and pestle from the classroom to make a thick paste - which she did by mixing one and a half measures of Standard Ingredient with three drops of Essence of Wormwood and crushing them together with the pestle inside the mortar.

Today, her plan was to make a potion that was known to help sharpen people's reflexes, their speed and help them to process information quicker. These sounded like incredibly helpful tools in a scary situation where you needed to react fast. Whoever said vitamins were good for you clearly had taken some of this potion - for its name was literally Vitamix, as though it had been named after exactly that. Wait - maybe it had. That would kind of make sense. She added the paste into the cauldron once it had been heated to the correct temperature, allowing it to heat up. Squinting at the liquid to see if it was behaving as it was supposed to - but she kind of had no idea, other than just following the instructions listed in front of her.

As she waited for the potion to change colour, she took some Asphodel Root. Cutting two heads of the root into finely diced pieces was the hard part. Serena was much better at a hammer in a forge than she was with a knife, cutting a weird-shaped root. It was a lot harder than just whacking down on a piece of flat metal with a blunt hammer. Careful to not get hurt, she diced the root as neatly and as finely as she could. She was not sure if it was good enough for the potion but it was the finest she would get it. Once the potion had turned into a grey colour, she added the diced root to it and allowed it to heat up some more.

She picked up 3 spings of dried Aconite, and waited patiently until the potion turned red before adding it. Then she waited some more. Okay, this potion was a lot of waiting around for the colour to change. Her eyes glanced at the textbook to double-check what was next. The potion should turn orange soon, now that she had added the Aconite. Once it had, she added a single melting rock and waited some more.

Right. Next time, she was going to bring her lunch and just eat whilst waiting. At least that would be more entertaining than just staring at a potion. Was there not a muggle saying about a watched kettle not boiling? It felt like this. A watched potion doesn't change colours!

Yet there was a weird satisfaction and sense of relief every time the potion turned to the correct colour. It was validation that she was doing things right and gave her a bit of confidence in her ability to brew potions! As on queue, the potion turned turquoise and she carefully took the rock back out with a pair of pliers. That was a lot easier for her to handle. Pliers, she could do. It was - after all - similar to things she did in the Goblin Forge.

Once the potion had turned back to a red, she added the final ingredient - three measures of Armadillo Bile - and she was done! One Vitamix Potion coming up! She was ready for the day when she could use a little boost in energy - or better yet, someone else would need it and she would have it on hand, ready for them. She transferred the complete potion into vials once it was safe to do so and looked at it rather proudly if she was being honest with herself. Crafting potions was a little like crafting armour. There was something rather satisfying with the success of it. Plus, she got two little vials out of it which basically meant she had two vitamix potions (or at least, doses) and that was quite nice. Surely that was a win? She considered it one!

Ingredients required | 3 fl. Oz. Ethanol, 1 Bitterroot, 1 Fanged Geranium, 4 measures of Standard Ingredient, 2 bunches of Daisy Roots, 8 Beetles' Black Eyes, 2 Sprigs of Jewelweed, 1 pair of Fairy Wings

Roleplay (200 words min) | 956 words

For over a year, Serena had been one of the interns that worked in the Hospital Wing, tending to the wounds of many of her fellow students. Sometimes they were simple scraps and bumps that could easily be treated and other times, the school nurse was desperately summoned and required to help. One thing she had not really experienced before herself was regrowing bones that had disappeared entirely - because, how often does that even happen?! However, it could happen. And Skelegro was a potion that could help treat someone should it ever happen. Besides, it could also be used for healing broken bones - which was the more likely scenario for it to be used in.

Picking up a small vial of Ethanol, which contained three ounces worth as she had premeasured it, she added that into the cauldron. It was not even on yet but that was the instructions! Then she took a Bitterroot and started to dice it up as carefully as she could - being careful not to hurt herself as that would be particularly ironic when brewing a healing potion - and added that into the cauldron too. With the knife, she crushed a single Fanged Geranium under the flat part of it before dicing it up. Again, she was careful. This time, she took particular care to try and ensure the dicing could be defined as "small" and also "cubes" - trying to keep them all the same size and shape. How important it was to the recipe, she did not know. But she was doing her very best to ensure it was kept as close to the recipe as possible. Serena was not about to be a risktaker when it came to potions. For starters, she had very little knowledge in the subject matter to start messing up with a known recipe!

Adding two measures of the diced Geranium cubes into the cauldron, she then flicked her wand to start the medium flame underneath it. She stirred the potion once in a clockwise motion before leaving it to be.

Serena grabbed the mortar and added 4 measures of Standard Ingredient to it, alongside 2 bunches of Daisy Root and then started to mix them both up with the pestle. She groaned a little as she did, realising that she really did not enjoy grinding things. It required quite a bit of arm strength to get the powder to be a nice fine one and whilst she was getting stronger, she really did not enjoy using her noodle arms for things.

Carefully, she counted out four measures of the powder, adding them into the cauldron one by one. Then she waved her wand and left the potion to one side to brew. Apparently, this was going to take a minimum of twelve hours... She literally facepalmed at the whole process as she continued to read and realised that the potion wouldn't be ready for at least three weeks - and a full moon. Welp! Hopefully, no one would get a broken bone in that time...

With that, she left for the day. The Hufflepuff returned approximately fourteen and a half hours later to check on the process of it. Yawning, she sleepily stared at it. The timing meant that she had to wake up early and quickly head to check on the potion before classes started. The liquid appeared to have reduced, which seemed to be correct. Counting out eight Beetles' Black Eyes - which was utterly disgusting to even do - she added them in quickly, not wanting to touch them for long. She stirred clockwise thrice more, adding in 2 sprigs of Jewelweed into the cauldron and turned the flame off. Leaving it there, she sighed and left once more, making a mental note to return on the next full moon.

Looking at the calendar, the next full moon was - luckily - in a few days and she silently prayed that it was not a cloudy day or this whole thing would be a waste. Serena made a mental note to herself to choose easier healing potions next time she thought she would try and help someone! How ridiculous was this whole thing? Who even came up with such a recipe or rather, how did they even discover such a thing?

Returning on the day of the full moon, she moved the potion to sit under the light of the moon - instantly relieved to see the light was visible and not covered by the clouds. And then went to hope it matured overnight. Luckily, this part just involved her sleeping - which was nice. Admittedly, Serena was tossing and turning throughout the night as the thought of 'what if it goes wrong' kept flooding her brain and her nerves prevented her from fully sleeping. Like what if she overslept? Or didn't put it in the right place? Should she check it now? Oh but the curfew had passed, she'd get in trouble and maybe it was too late for the potion anyway! Ahhh!!

Exhausted, she yawned as she walked to the dungeons the next morning with definite sleepy eyes that gave away everything. Checking her recipe, she grabbed a pair of Fairy Wings, she tossed them into the cauldron. Then she stirred anti-clockwise four times as instruction before waving her wand to finish the potion.

With that, she left the potion to mature once more but this was for a minimum of three weeks... She would return about five and a half weeks after the fact as she had been kind of busy, forgotten a few times and then just struggled to make it. Serena would vial up the completed potion into two little bottles then.

If there was one thing Amadea could accept as a shortcoming, it was the fact that she was not very strong. Of course, the measure in which she compared herself too was a bit skewed, as she found herself most comparing to her fellow housemate and best friend, Ami Procoppio, who was a brute of a girl. Amadea herself was quite twiggish, and she had always been okay with being less than average in the strength department. After all, she had her wand. Why did she need to be able to physically beat someone up when she could just hex them into oblivion?

Maybe it was Amadea's growing anxiety about the future, but she was feeling the need to be prepared for anything, and an important part of being prepared was having the ability to fight someone with her bare hands if she needed to. Of course, her solution wasn't necessarily 100% genuinely bare hands...instead she was going to brew a potion. The strengthening solution, of course. This potion was going to be especially difficult to brew, she knew, because it required two separate parts of brewing. She had come early to prepare the first part. As she flipped open the instructions, she grabbed a knife so she could dice the ginger root and then crush it into a paste with the flat edge. Once she had done that, she took some salt water and poured it into the cauldron before turning on the heat to bring it to a boil. Then, she added two measures of the paste she had previously created and turned the heat down to medium.

As she waited the proper five minutes, Amadea skimmed the directions to see if there was anything she could prepare ahead of time. She grabbed the mortar and pestle and the Griffin claw, using it to grind the claw into a fine powder. By the time she had completed that, the five minutes were up and she began slowly sifting the powder into the cauldron. As she did this, her vicinity was quickly surrounded in silvery steam. She then took a spoon and stirred the mixture clockwise until the powder was fully dissolved into the salt water/ginger mix. Then, she simmered the mixture for 12 minutes, in which time it turned a clear turquoise color. Then she took it off the heat, stored it on the edge of the counter and waited 3 days for it to mature before coming back.

3 days later

Amadea was ready for the second half of brewing this potion. She was excited to test it out, too. Maybe she would challenge Ami to a fistfight...or an arm wrestle or something less dangerous. Thinking about the incredulous look on her friend's face when Amadea would beat her at the arm wrestle made her giddy to finish this concoction. She opened the instructions to where she had left off and began pre-heating the potion to medium heat before she poured in the pomegranate juice and let the mixture simmer for 7 minutes. During this time, she grabbed a knife and sliced the Erumpent tail into four lengthwise pieces, tying a simple knot in each. At this point, seven minutes had passed, so she added the Erumpent tail pieces and frog spawn to the mix. Then she turned the heat down to medium, stirred the mixture twice clockwise, counted to sixty, stirred it three times counterclockwise, counted to sixty again, and then repeated this process three times. Then, she reduced the heat even further to low, subsequently removing the Erumpent tail and frog intestines. She unscrewed the salamander blood, slowly pouring it in and stirring carefully in a clockwise direction before adding drops of moondew, waiting three breaths in between each drop. The color of the potion began to quickly darken from turquoise to teal as she did this. Then she removed the cauldron from the heat, waving her wand over the mixture to seal it and at last, it was complete!

With almost all of Opeila's preparations done, there was only one last thing to do- prepare for Loras to be the idiot sandwich he sometimes liked to be. The gray mackerel was not a kitten anymore, having turned four this year, but he could be quite silly at times. So just to be on the safe site, Opeila was going to get some pet tonic ready as well.

Once again she chose a more quiet corner of the classroom to brew her potion- brewing would never be a strength of hers for sure, even if her grades were passable. She just never felt quite secure in what she was doing, unlike when it came to casting spells. Again, Opeila began reading the instructions- and it was lucky that she did, as it only said to preheat the cauldron in the second line.

That was exactly what she would do, carefully she heated the cauldron up to medium, before beginning to slice the aloe vera leaves. She watched the gel seep out of the plants for a bit before finally tossing them into her cauldron, then poured the 8 ounces of salamander blood she had prepared on top, making sure to move the hand that held the vial in circular, clockwise motions.
A handful of nettles followed and then came Opeila's favorite part- leaving the whole thing alone for two minutes.

Checking her watch every now and then, the fourth year began to chop murtlap tentacles- she had done that a lot lately and she still had the unsettling feeling of cutting through something living. Shaking off the ick, Opeila threw them into the cauldron as well, together with some scurvy grass and then... came the tedious part.

Sitting. Looking at the clock. Waiting, while the potion simmered. No, no, not the kind of waiting, where on could do something productive, the kind where one stirred the potion clockwise once every two minutes. For 46 minutes. After 10 Opeila got bored. After 30 she was scared that she might fall asleep. But she did it! After 46 minutes she finally got to finalize her potion by waving her wand over it and poured it into vials.
