Quidditch Slytherin vs Ravenclaw - Fall 2022

A beautiful, brisk autumn day. The sun shone down on the Quidditch pitch with just a slight chill in the air. The leaves on the trees were showing their colours in full force, a patchwork of reds and yellows. It was a perfect afternoon.

And it was ideal for grinding those slippery snakes into the ground.

It had been two months since their humiliating loss against the foreign team this summer, and Cecily was striding back onto the pitch with vengance in her eyes. If it was the last thing she did, she was going to lead her team all the way back to London next summer and kick ass. And it all started here, with a spectacular victory over Slytherin.

They'd done it once before. The Ravenclaw players had proven themselves time and time again against teams who had for years handed them crushing defeats. They had made a comeback last year, a comeback that was four years in the making and long-overdue. Cecily had no doubt in her mind that her team could do it all over again, again and again. And they would. Three games, three teams, three victories. She would not be going down quietly.

Excels at catching falling allies as well as getting them back to their broom quickly.

This broom can carry multiple people. When someone uses the catch option to rescue a falling teammate, they can catch one additional teammate in a given round. If the user has the ability Catch then a user can catch an indefinite number of teammates in a round, but for each person they catch after the first there is a stacking 20% auto-failure chance.

On the next round, as a free action (meaning both users can make a normal action) the rider and ONE passenger (if there are multiple sharing the broom, it would cost both of their actions to return them to their broom also) can retrieve a single broom.

xxFirst game of the season. All summer, Maggie had just been aching to get back onto the field--to really show her spirit again and kick some serious butt. Slytherin hadn't done the best in the world last year, when Maggie had first joined, which did plant a seed of doubt in her mind. Did they lose a lot because of her? Was Maggie Hawkins the weak link that made everyone else feel crappy? Surely not. After all, there wasn't time to be stressing about silly little things like that when there was a crowd of adoring fans out there. Maggie zipped onto the field, gripping her broomstick and surveying those assembled below. A sea of color as each house came out to support their players for the day. She was ready and rearing for a good match, indeed.

Percival stared up at the sky a scowl set deep on his face. Ever since the start of the downhill turn in his summer he had been in a perpetually bad mood. Something that had only been exasperated at the sudden change in roommates. He wasn't too sure what was worse. The fact that Tone switched rooms without telling him or that he left him at all. Percival gripped his broom tightly making his way over to the bench. Giving everyone, especially a certain black-haired boy, the meanest glare he could muster. Anyone with a brain would be able to tell that the boy was in a worse mood then normal. The boy would sit down on the bench, propping his chin up with his left hand.

Here it was, another year of quidditch. This marked Lavinia’s fifth year at Hogwarts and fifth year on the quidditch team. It was almost nostalgic in a way, but at least Lavinia had 3 years left at Hogwarts before she braved the big leagues. After last summer where her and her team lost disastrously, she devoted every extra moment to training. Her throws and blatches had become as accurate as they could be and she was ready. This might be her owl year, but in her mind, she didn’t exactly need to ace her owls to go pro. Soon enough she’d get recruited and when that happens she’ll need to be at her best. So why not continue devoting her life to what she loved.

There was no need for her to go to balls or be super adventurous, all she needed to do was practice and then practice some more. If she had calculated her numbers right, by the end of the year she’d have a new broom, and that broom would be her key to her dreams. This quidditch match today was just another stepping stone on her path. They needed to win today to increase their chances of making the summer game where everyone would watch. With that in mind, Lavinia set herself up on the field for another win. They would not plummet into another losing streak, instead they would rise from their lose and play even better than before.

Jack thought he was going to fall off his broom with how light-headed he was. What an ignorant fool, unsure even now if he knew what he was doing. He knew he wasn't the only one on the pitch who hadn't ever played a quidditch match before, as Lucinia Thawin was also new, but he felt like it. Sure, he may not have been a first string player, but that didn't guarantee he wasn't going to have to play. Just like wearing all his quidditch gear didn't guarantee he wasn't going to end up in casts by the end of the game.

He tried to focus on his teammates as they each went out onto the pitch, regarding each one and trying to determine what was running through their minds. Even his fellow newbie, Lucinia, seemed more excited than afraid or nervous and he wished he could share in her enthusiasm. However, his mind kept straying back to the bludgers. How anyone got anything done during the stupid game without constantly worrying about the damn bludgers was beyond him.

Taking deep breaths, Jack tried a new tactic and attempted to focus on the wind in his face and hair as he flew once around the pitch, waving at people absently before finally settling back down to head to the bench. Flash was there. Flash, with his calming presence. Jack plopped down onto the bench as near to Flash as he could get without disturbing any of the other players already seated there.

- In the role of Keeper when you attempt to block your goal, if your opponent somehow has advantage on attempting to score a goal, that is negated (they only have their normal single roll against you).
- In the role of Keeper, if the Keeper effectively blocks an attempt to score rather than obtain possession of the quaffle they can kick the quaffle at the user who attempted to score. This must be declared at the time actions are submitted. This would have damage like a bludger using an accuracy roll to hit and the user's strength score to determine the amount of damage done. If the quaffle hits or misses the target, a quafflegrab the next round would be necessary to determine which team has possession of the quaffle again.

First game of the new year. The tension in the Slytherin locker room was almost palpable. One could not easily forget the match against Ravenclaw last year. Most of the team was annihilated, the work predominantly the result of one particular fellow fourth year student. That game was one that still stuck out in Tyranni's mind, as it was the first game she had performed the dance of the unconscious, free-falling meat sack. Somehow she managed to block out the pain memory, but her first practice back after recovering was significant. It was only then did she realize just how far above the ground she had been when she fell. This year would be different for their team. Fresh meat on all teams changed up the dynamics significantly, and learning how each team had altered their playstyle would be critical if success all season was to be obtained.
