After Hana finished the proud speech, where she literally told everyone what she did shamelessly, a girl suddenly spoke up and asked whether she can pair up with Hana. Hana immediately glanced at the girl, a first year, as she introduced herself as. "Hi, Jada. Sure, I'll pair up with you, wouldn't want to disobey the headmaster's words. Hana rolled her eyes as she said those words because she hates being forced to obey someone else. "Sneaking into Hogsmeade, bold. Though not as bad as what I did. So, did you sneak in some snacks from Honeydukes or any of the joke items in Zonkos? Those are like really really good Hana winked, because the only way she got those things is from her brother and he always ask her to do something before he agrees to bring those to her.

"So, do you want to go there and clear the debris now. pointing at the messy road with rubbish everywhere. Oh. This is going to be a very long day"or do you want to pick up things and stack it together?" Mm Yep. This is also going to be a really long one, of course the Headmaster is going to give us the longest and most annoying job for detention, very thoughtful.

I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else. Gets me frustrated

During her walk looking for a partner, Fawkes was finally approached by someone she knew. Aislin Darragh, a fellow first year Ravenclaw and one of the other duelling captains. Aislin had been a huge help to Fawkes when she had landed the role as Ravenclaw duelling captain so she was glad it was someone reliable who asked her to be partners.

Hi Aislin! Fawkes said excitedly, waving back at her. She was slightly startled by the fact Aislin was waving with shears in hand but it seemed like she had just forgotten they were there. Thank Merlin there's someone I know here, yes i'd love to pair up.

She noticed the fact that Aislin seemed rather excited to get to work. Well, not exactly excited about the fact it was 6 in the morning but more so excited about the kind of work they had to do. It was mildly concerning but then again she knew a few people who loved this kind of work and Aislin was probably one of them.

As the two made their way over to begin, she decided to ask, Aislin, what exactly did you do to land up with detention? Her mind shuffled through all the possibilities. Was she out after curfew? Did she sneak into Hogsmade? If that were the case Fawkes needed to know how she managed to not get caught with a fake slip before going to Hogsmade. Or perhaps she was caught forging the slip like she was? Well out of everything, surely it wasn't unauthorised duelling right? After all, Aislin was a duelling captain she knew better than to duel outside the duelling club.

Jada raised her eyebrows in amusement as the girl, Hana, joked. Who cared about following the headmaster's words. They were all already in detention, besides, the headmaster looked like he wouldn't mind catching up on a few hours of sleep instead of supervising them. In response to Hana's question, she answered "No, I didn't even get there yet! They caught me using a forged slip on the way out." So really, she hadn't even committed the offense yet."But I've had them before. It wasn't my first time sneaking out you know."

She put on the dragon hide gloves they were handed. Gosh it smelled around here! No wonder nobody ever comes this way. She started off towards the edge of the grounds, hoping to work as far away from the headmaster and as close to ditching this stupid detention as possible. Her hands began to sweat, the humidity filled the air. The type that preceded heavy rains or storms. What a nice day. she thought ironically, they were stuck here until sundown with no (technically allowed) escape.

"You said... you went into the forest right?" her eyes glinted with mischief. "Would it theoretically be possible to do it again?" She was really terrible at being subtle. They'd already gotten into this detention and misbehaving now would likely lead to another, one probably worse than this. But there were so many people here, would they really notice if two just... disappeared?

@Colin McCoire| MENTIONING
It was Saturday, a quarter to six in the Morning and Jun could think of several other ways to spend her time that she would have much preferred. Like lying in her Dorm bed with a good book and a cup of green tea. However, it seemed as though that would not be happening today. At least not for a couple hours. Or how long did Detention usually last? Detention was not something Jun was familiar with. In her two years at Hogwarts she had never once received one. It was not that Jun obsessively followed every rule to avoid getting detention, she just wasn’t stupid enough to get caught. Though apparently she must have been, as she was currently joining several other Students in receiving one.

The air was not fresh or cool but rather humid, the sky in somewhat of a dramatic bruised color for the early hours. Violet tones mixed with deep blue, dark pink and a pale yellow, accompanied by heavy clouds. A thunder rolled low from somewhere in the distance and the whole atmosphere seemed kind of.. uncomfortable. Especially due to the scent of wet earth and incoming rain, hanging in the humid air.

Now one might wonder why Jun had ended up here when the second year Ravenclaw normally did not get into enough trouble to face such a morning of punishment. rolled d20, result was 8 Who could have known that brewing butterbeer in a cauldron in your dorm would be illegal? Apparently not Jun‘s dorm mate - who she barely talked to anyway - only that somehow Jun had now also been roped into a detention she did not deserve. She did not even like butterbeer.

Unfortunately, that was no excuse to get her out of this and so Jun stood between other Students, her arms crossed over her stomach and her face turned toward Headmaster Solomon Lear. They had gathered at the edge of the Grounds, overlooking an overgrown area with branches, collapsed old boundary markers, trees growing close together, moss and ivy.

Headmaster Lear was clad in leather armor, a full suit at that. Not something one could witness everyday, especially in combination with the sunglasses.. Nonetheless, Headmaster Lear always had an air of authority around him so Jun wouldn’t have dared to even let her lips upturn at the sight before her. Especially since the smell currently surrounding them was causing a slight churn of her stomach, that made it impossible to be in a good mood. At least considering all other factors that played into her currently standing here.

There was an unexpected amount of other students around her, one that seemed rather.. suspicious? How had this many students been caught doing something they shouldn’t, so close to the end of the year? There were several that Jun recognized from her year or from seeing them around, though where was a certain Slytherin with light blonde hair? A detention like this without Colin McCoire around seemed terribly unlikely.

Once Students began to form into groups or go to get some gloves, the second year did the same and pulled out a pair. A bit too big, a bit too worn and dirty for her taste. Jun‘s features twisted in slight disgust, this was not going to be a good day.

Crap. Of course she would get caught. Brewing butterbeer in her dorm at the middle of the night rolled a d20 ; result was 8, of course she was bound to get caught by a prefect. There's no use blaming herself now, the butterbeer did turn out excellent, if not for the earful of improper use of rest time and smuggling food to bed.

It was nearing the end of the school year, why would I even need to serve detention? She thought, making her way down near the caretaker's cabin, where a handful of students and — wait — Professor, No, Headmaster Lear was leering down on the guilty, confused, and mischievous faces of assorted students. He was wearing sunglasses, perhaps to enjoy the show of making children squirm under his gaze, and — a large tote bag?

What was wrong with this man? He was serving detention to a vast array of children whilst he looked like he was off to a trip to the beach? Tatiana thought that this man was serious, strict in fact, the first time she saw him; now he looked like someone's quirky, divorced great-uncle — except for the leather armor, of course.

Though she barely listened to what the Headmaster was saying as her attention drifted to the occasional rumble of thunder, she did pick up a sentence or two about what they were supposed to do to leave detention, which was of course what she was waiting for. Why waste a good Saturday evening clearing debris and overgrown weeds and vines or whatever when she could've enjoyed a liter of refreshing home — no — schoolmade butterbeer.

She sighed as the group was split into pairs and made her way to a spot nowhere near Lear, as she was not going to enjoy her time cleaning up such a disgusting place with the Headmaster breathing down her neck. Unconsciously dragging her partner's wrist, she declared their spot before they could argue nor consulting them. “Right,” she said, “No point for introductions now, I want to get of here as fast as possible, don't you? But if you really need to, name's Tatiana. Contraire. That's all you ought to need to know. ” She pulled out the old dragon-hide gloves that Lear gave them and stared at it with outmost disgust, “Why don't you do all the dirty business with the, er, dirt and I'll take care of all the cutting?”

Thoughts: Dark green
I woke up half asleep, it was 5 in the morning and it was gloomy outside. If it were any other day I'd probably sleep longer. But today I had somewhere else to be. I got ready and headed outside the castle towards the grounds. I needed to reach the edge of the Hogwarts grounds, just beyond the safer walking paths near the caretaker's cabin, for umm.... well the reason was not something I was so proud of, but I was heading for detention.

It was still hard to believe that I got detention, and it still wasn't clear to me about how the situation could've been serious. All I did was tell some fellow first years that The Black Lake was run by a mermaid monarchy, which was what I'd thought. But apparently I was wrong. And about how Professors got to know about this new piece of false information circulating, they'd overheard some students planning to go into the lakes to see the mermaids themselves. They were stopped before making such choices, but everything circled back to me, so here I was. I understand that I didn't fact check my thoughts before telling someone about it, and I do regret not doing that; but I don't get how I'm responsible for some students planning to do something dangerous, it was their choice of action.

Neglecting the chaos upsurging in my head, I walked briskly with quick paces as I reached my destination. There were quite a lot of other students. Damn! Looks like I'm not the only rule breaker around here. I wonder what they did to end up here. I then spotted Headmaster Solomon Lear, he looked quite gruff. He must be disappointed in us rule breakers. I looked down embarrassed. As more students started to arrive, the Headmaster spoke, "Listen carefully, The grounds near the old wardline have become overgrown after the storms this spring. Branches need clearing. Several of the old boundary markers have collapsed. You will assist with cleanup until sunset."

Ohh mann!! 'Till sunset, that's a bazillion hours away. Nooo, I'm going to be so exhausted. Ughh! Great job Avery, this is exactly what you need in your first year at hogwarts. I took the old dragonhide gloves and rusted shears handed out by the headmaster. I then watched him take out a lawn chair from his tote bag, which unfolded itself onto the grass, he also poured himself a drink, put on some sunglasses, and seated himself. Hmm... our Headmaster's got style.

I then looked around for somewhere to start my work. The sky was grey and i could see dark clouds. A cold breeze hit my face as I started to work. Besides the light chatter of students, it was unusually quiet, I could also feel light rumbling beneath my feet. It feels like it's going to rain, or perhaps it is raining elsewhere. I hope I don't get all wet and muddy. I had a strange feeling in my stomach and my chest felt strangely heavy. It must be the guilt and embaressment of having to be here. I hoped that this dreadful day didn't end up becoming a nightmare.

At first, when Ophelia thought it'd be fun to draw a not very useful secret passage map of Hogwarts, she didn't plan to sell it to some of her fellow classmates. But seeing some students craving adventure as if their life depended on it, she considered and, eventually, did sell the drawings of different 'hidden passageways' that were nonexistent. She found it quite funny how some of them quite literally ran into walls.

Fate had other plans, though, as a professor finally suspected something, since these confused little first years had been late multiple times, trying to find nonexistent tunnels, and, not only had taken the false maps from them, but made sure to give Ophelia detention with Professor Headmaster Lear. Ophelia was also forced to give the chocolate frogs that she'd received back, not that she ever planned to eat them.

In the grounds, listening to the headmaster talk. When he mentioned that they still weren't allowed to wander in the Forbidden Forest, Ophelia considered it for a mere moment just to piss him off, but decided against that, since the man looked like he could vanish her whole bloodline off the face of the earth. Poof!

Pairs. Clearing the debris. Dirt.

Now, Ophelia, thankfully, didn't have any problems with that assignment. At least, not yet. She didn't mind getting dirty, as long as spiders and bugs didn't crawl up her body, she should be fine. So when her partner dragged her as far away from Lear as possible and introduced herself as Tatiana, also telling her that she would, in Ophelia's words, prefer cutting instead of getting dirty Ophelia didn't oppose.

"Ophelia, Vanderbilt," introducing herself would've been a logical thing to do. The headmaster had, of course, stated that this detention was not the place for socialization, but over her months at Hogwarts, Ophelia had gotten much much better at it, and wanted to start talking with her partner so so bad. Tatiana, also stating that she wanted to get out of there as fast as possible, which Ophelia found ridiculous because they wouldn't get out of there until Lear said so, or in Ophelia's words didn't want to make conversation, had already put her gloves on. Not caring about her own interpretation, Ophelia started to talk.

"So, why did you get a detention?" She asked, putting on her own gloves and sitting on her knees, suddenly glad that she hadn't worn jeans or any white clothing. She didn't mind her legs getting dirty now, but she sure as hell would clean them thoroughly later. "I sold some other confused first-years fake secret passage maps," she stated without being asked. And now, work actually starts. She thought as she proceeded to remove the branches.

Lindsey grumbled as she dragged her feet across the castle grounds, oblivious to her surroundings. A detention. Detention. D-E-T-E-N-T-I-O-N. What a lovely word, she thought bitterly. Her flawless record of the past 7 years had been shattered, a mere month before her graduation. If the person in charge had reviewed properly, they should have realised that she was wronged. Why would a former Quidditch Player then Duellist, recently appointed as Duelling Captain, suddenly attempt to try her luck in Broom Racing? And why would she attempt to race indoors? On top of this, why on earth would she steal a wobbly school broom when she possessed a sleek Starsweeper XXI?

The humidity of the June air made her head feel heavy, and the familiar silhouette of Headmaster Lear was rather unsettling. A mass detention, and the headmaster himself? Citing her experience, she couldn't recall a time when so many students got into trouble at the same time. Treading lightly towards the gathering crowd, for once, she hoped that attention was not drawn to her. No one seemed to notice or care, thank Merlin, but still - a seventh year at the verge of her graduation. Shame on you, Springhall.

She was barely listening to the instructions, completely lost in her own thoughts. A cleanup, that sole word was enough for her to grasp the whole concept. She was idly tying up her hair into a ponytail when she caught a word under the distant rolling thunder. Pairs. Lindsey tentatively licked her upper teeth. Her initial intention of getting through this inconspicuously had failed. Alright, she thought warily. She guessed that it must be done, somehow. Serving a Detention was likely on that 100 Things to Do Before Graduation list.

Lindsey sighed as she took the equipments, hands shifting uncomfortably in those worn gloves. Her seven years slipped away before she had even noticed, and seriously, Hogwarts hadn't changed. Herself, on the other hand, was apparently way different from the girl first setting foot onto the Hogwarts grounds. Same trees, same lake, same sky - she glanced at the relaxed Headmaster a bit skeptically, then shifted her focus back to the shears she was holding. A partner and then sunset. All she wanted was to return to her common room and have a good glass of iced lemonade.

Crystal Theodora still maintained that it was an act of pure, unadulterated charity. Granted, developing a mild coffee dependency at eleven years old was probably not what the Hogwarts staff considered "healthy character development." But Crystal was learning to live a little. She had been heading to class, minding her own business, taking a comforting sip of her illegally acquired brew, when she saw the poor thing.

A tiny, pink, fluffball of a Pygmy Puff, looking absolutely exhausted. Worn out. Depleted by the sheer exhaustion of existence. Naturally, she did the only logical thing a Gryffindor could do: she shared. How was she supposed to know that high-fructose pumpkin spice and triple-shot espresso would turn a standard magical pet into a vibrating, wall-bouncing, hyperactive menace that tore through the corridor like a golden snitch on a sugar rush? Apparently, "gross negligence of magical fauna" was the official charge. Talk about an overreaction.

Now, Crystal stood at the soggy, neglected edge of the Hogwarts grounds, staring down a ten-hour sentence. A cold, unseasonably bitter wind whipped through her long-sleeved black mini dress featuring a relaxed, slightly oversized top with puffy drop-shoulder sleeves. She had cinched it tightly at her waist with a matching black belt and a silver rectangular buckle, creating a flared A-line silhouette. The cold was making her bitterly regret the lack of a warm mug in her hands. She wasn't alone, at least. A motley crew of Hogwarts' finest rule-breakers, over-ambitious academics, and illegal duelists had been dragged out here to the old wardline. She tuned back in just in time to hear Headmaster Solomon Lear deliver his final, gruff ultimatum. No socializing. No entering the Forbidden Forest. Shoveling owl droppings if they wandered off.

Crystal winced slightly, looking from the ominous, tightly packed black trunks of the Forest to the Headmaster himself. As Lear slid a pair of sunglasses onto his face and settled in with an amber-colored drink topped with a tiny paper umbrella, Crystal couldn't help but admire the sheer commitment to checking out of his job. Crystal caught a pair of stiff, oversized dragonhide gloves and a set of rusted shears that looked older than the castle itself. Slipping the gloves on, she approached the sagging line of ancient, moss-draped standing stones. The grass here grew up to her waist, thick and damp, hiding cracked rocks and tangled ivy.

Dropping to her knees, she began to hack away at the thick briars choking the base of one of the fallen boundary markers, stacking the usable wood into a messy pile near the trail marker. Her hands quickly grew sore, the rusted shears groaning with every clip. It was exhausting work, and the creepy, unnatural stillness radiating from the nearby treeline wasn't helping. She thought she heard a faint, distant thump against wood from deep inside the Forest, but she quickly shook it off. She needed a distraction. More importantly, she needed a partner if she was going to survive the next ten hours without dying of boredom.

Straightening up, Crystal wiped a stray strand of hair from her face and looked around the clearing at the other assembled students. Her eyes locked onto a girl standing a little ways down the wardline. Dropping her shears into the grass, Crystal walked up to her, offering a sympathetic, solidarity-in-suffering sort of smile."Hey." Crystal said, gesturing with her oversized dragonhide gloves toward the Headmaster, who was currently sunbathing under a thunderstorm sky. "Please tell me you have a better excuse for being stuck in this manual labor camp than I do. I gave a Pygmy Puff an espresso, and honestly, I think the Headmaster's drink might be stronger than what I brewed."

The gloves would emit a faint creak as her grip on them subconsciously tightened, her shoulders tensing as she continued to observe the forest, Gideon's words infested her brain like maggots through her narrowed eyes.

That was until she felt something hit her once more.

Nabi turned, a flicker of something less contained would appear in her pale eyes, expecting it to be yet another worn-out tool the headmaster threw. The corner of her mouth would twitch slightly, hearing Matthew's voice. It had been a while since she had crossed paths with the boy, "Mr. Campbell..." yet old habits died hard.

While new ones flourished.

She would watch him carefully; something was different, and it was not the height. Had he always been so... "worried?" Nabi would blink, shrugging slightly as if she had asked something so casual, "of your senses, I mean". She could ask him about his reaction to the forest later, when the time was right. Nabi hummed calmly in thought, considering his offer with a nod while her gray eyes glanced around before eventually seeing Winnie had begun to squelch her way toward her. A faint smile would appear at Matthew's comment, saying just loud enough for Winnie to hear, "Why not start by the treeline? The forest is not the only thing wishing death upon another... " even the most fragile things could cause damage.

"Afraid of what you will find in the forest?" Afraid Gideon is still out there? Or that the forest had answered?

If Winnie makes her way to them, Nabi will smile and greet her with a gentle wave saying "It seems we may not have been the only ones who went for a nightly stroll in the woods, Winnie..."
