After tiring herself out in the labyrinth, you would think Harumi just wanted to sleep. However, Harumi gains energy out of nowhere if there's some event. So after finishing the labyrinth with her friends, she went to ahead to her dorm.
----The dress she got for the ball was sent by her mother upon knowing of the ball, apparently it was her mother's in the past, back when her mother's family was still wealthy, Harumi never learned details about back then, she didn't want to remind her mother of painful memories by asking. The dress was beautiful, but more importantly, it was comfortable, Harumi would gladly wear anything if it's easy to move in, that's her number one rule for all clothes. Since the dress was a beautiful shade of green, Harumi decided to pair it with pinkish accessories, pink and green, what's a better representation of spring.
----Having prepared her clothes, Harumi picked the hairbrush and started trying to style her hair. She was never good at it and took a while to get it right, and a whole lot of detangling after accidentally missing a step, but in the end, she did her best. The style she chose was a hair updo with fake pink flowers for the spring, obviously. She looked at herself in a mirror, she loved how her hair turned out, though looking at it now, by the end of the evening her hair will be a tangled mess, she brushed off those thoughts though, and went ahead to get dressed.
----Done with getting ready, she took one last look in the mirror, she almost thought she was overdressed, her hair is done, the dress is neat, her cross bag had everything she needs, and her shoe is comfortable, spectacular! She left the dorms and common room to go to the courtyard.
----on the walk to the courtyard, she saw other students heading there as well. As expected, everyone was looking their best. A few meters before reaching the courtyard, and after seeing the amount of people going, Harumi almost decided to go back to the dorms, with so many people around, missing up something would be the end of her. She contemplated whether she should disappear from existence altogether after the ball just in case, hiding in her bed forever was very tempting.
----Before she could scream internally anymore, she arrived at the courtyard and saw how beautiful it looked, she quickly forgot about everything she was thinking and gazed around taking in everything. Truly the place looked like a wonderland garden. Red and white rose bushes that Harumi could swear she saw changing colours, banquet tables full of food, dance floor resembling a clock, and everything was true to the theme. She teared her eyes away from the mesmerising scene and scanned the place for her group.
----She saw Max, apparently waiting for his date, she greeted him with a smile, but decided against interacting more, leaving him to his soon to arrive date. It didn't take her long to notice Zephyr as well, seemingly waiting for them, she waved at him as she walked towards him. She wondered if he was waiting for a long time. By the time she arrived, which wasn't long because she was only a couple of steps away, Skylar had also found them. "Hey there, guys!" She greeted cheerfully. Both of them were looking their best much like everyone else. And Harumi thought she was overdressed, apparently it was quite the opposite. She stood with her two friends waiting for Edward's arrival.

Wonderland Waltz

Salim's heart skipped a beat when the girl took a step away from the wall and started walking with him. Salim considered himself a pretty good dancer. His mother had taught him to dance when he was very young, and sometimes he would dance around the house with his little sister Mariama standing on his toes. With a pang in his heart, he realized how much he missed his family. But when the girl spoke again, his thoughts were interrupted.
Tes. Her name was Tes. A wonderful name. Tes, Tes, Tes. Then she spoke again about her roommate abandoning her and something about terrible dancing. He caught her joke and smiled a little.
"I promise you, Tes, I'm a pretty good dancer," Salim replied, taking her hand. "I'll try not to step on your toes." It was also a joke that he hoped she understood.
He led her out onto the dance floor and put one hand on her waist. Then he began to lead her in time to the music. It was as if the world around them disappeared and it was just him and her and the music. The other couples were just like faceless shadows. The only thing that mattered was the two of them.
“You’re from Hogwarts,” Salim said as they danced. Not a question but a statement. “I’m from Uagadou, but maybe it comes across in my English.” He smiled as he spun her around. “I have to say that Hogwarts Castle is quite impressive, and I come from the biggest wizarding school in the world. How is it here?” he asked, hoping to start a conversation between them.

Scarlet smoothed out her dress for what seemed like the millionth time. Since getting ready for the Wonderland Waltz, Scarlet had talked herself out and then back into going more times than she could count. While she had started to make some friends this school year, she had been too shy to ask anyone to accompany her to the ball. When she first heard about it, she had imagined going with a whole group, but chickened out every time she had the chance to ask. So here Scarlet was, an anxious and awkward mess, walking up to the party solo.
Scarlet followed the crowd of people pouring into the courtyard. When entering the party, the first thing that caught her eye was the dance floor. She had never seen anything like it before. Somehow, it seemed to resemble a clock and was raised, requiring one to walk up a set of stairs before joining the dancing. She then discovered that there were tables at each of the corners. The one that stood out the most to her was the Red Diamonds table. While intrigued, Scarlet decided to wait until later before trying the delicious-looking treats that read "Eat Me". Instead, she headed towards the Red Hearts table, which contained normal food, or so she hoped.
Scarlet's plan had been to just be a wallflower and hope that someone would talk to her first, but since joining the party, she noticed she wouldn't be able to get away with that. It seemed like everyone had either a date or a group to hang out with. This was stupid. I should just turn around now. Well, maybe I should at least try some of this mouthwatering food before leaving. Scarlet picked up a plate and began to add all kinds of treats, from potato croquettes to mini sweet pepper poppers. After successfully building a tower of food on her plate, she turned toward the entrance, ready to leave. However, she noticed someone who looked fairly familiar, standing awkwardly to her right. Taking a second look, she remembered that she had met this girl once before but couldn't quite recall her name. This girl seemed to also be debating whether to stay. Scarlet glanced at the door and thought, I could make an escape right now and go enjoy a nice, relaxing evening with a book. She then turned back to the girl and thought, Or I could face my fear and talk to her. Taking a little too long to think about it, Scarlet forced her feet to move away from the exit and towards the girl.
"Hi, I believe we've met before, in the library. I'm terrible at remembering names, so could you remind me what yours is? I came alone and was wondering if you wouldn't mind some company."

Salim listened to Tes's comment about Hogwarts: "There's nothing impressive about Hogwarts. Everyone likes to pretend like it's special. It's just another school." Salim loved the honest tone in her voice. It wasn't often he heard someone so honest with their words. But then she quickly added, "But you get used to it."
"Believe me, I understand," Salim replied as they circled a couple on the dance floor. Then Tes asked how Uagadou was. "Big," Salim replied with a little laugh. "Like Hogwarts, it's just a school like any other. I've been there for a year and a half now and I don't think it's that impressive, but all the first years and people who visit almost always swoon when they see the school for the first time. It's the biggest wizarding school in the world."
Salim smiled and they continued dancing in silence for a moment. "You're really good at dancing, who taught you?" Salim asked as the music slowed down to a slightly slower song. He took a cautious step closer to Tes as they danced. “My mother taught me when I was very little. Then I usually dance around the house with my little sister standing on my feet. Do you have any siblings?”
He didn’t know if it was too many questions and answers at once, but what he did know was that he wanted to learn everything about Tes. Because she was the only thing that mattered right now. Silently, he thanked his mother deeply for telling him to go to the ball. In the middle of his thoughts, they almost bumped into another couple and Salim quickly grabbed Tes to keep her from falling. “You okay?” he asked, looking into her wonderfully beautiful gray eyes.

♡♡♡♡♡♡Riley was so nervous, but she could never show it. She walked down to the call casually. She hadn’t invited anyone to the ball. She was too busy. Busy with the Spring Royalty pageant. Too busy with schoolwork. And also because she was a bit socially awkward. But of course, she wouldn’t let it show. So, she smiled confidently. She looked around. The courtyard was beautiful. And for once, she actually felt pretty too. She was wearing a lovely navy dress, dark tights, and detailed black heels. She was wearing a black ribbon in her soft, wavy hair. That added to her confidence. She spotted a few people she knew, but who she was really looking for was her dorm mates. But if they were occupied, that was okay. She would manage… Right?
Riley realized how fancy the party was. There were sparkling lights streamed above, and a crystal chandelier floated up above the party guests. The courtyard was bordered with red and white rose bushes, and in the middle, a lovely gazebo with purple flowers and green vines growing on it. Next to it were several swing with lovely ropes. Riley was almost tempted to try one out, but she was too nervous.
Riley scanned her surroundings, and spotted Tina. That was good. Someone she knew. But she was surrounded by a small group. Riley didn’t want to interrupt, so she went to grab some refreshments. Her thick heels clicked along the sidewalk. She couldn’t help but notice a few heads look over as they heard her. She didn’t wear heels much, but she walked steadily and confidently. Perhaps she was just born to adorn heels. As Riley reached the table, she was amazed by the decorations. The tables were card themed, and contained refreshments reading ‘Eat me’ and ‘Drink me’.
Riley wanted to grab a snack, but her stomach seemed to disagree. So she grabbed a drink. One that looked to be lemonade. Only on way to find out. She held up the peculiar drink to her mouth and began to drink it. And it was lemonade. The best lemonade she had tasted in a while. Riley couldn’t help but smile. She carried the rest of the drink to the center of the courtyard. There was a large clock, and it took a minute for Riley to realize it was a dance floor. Cool. If only I had a partner to dance with… she thought to herself. But it was alright. It wouldn’t be the first time she was alone.♡♡♡♡♡♡

I saw Riley come over. And my first thought was, YAY! it was nice to know that my roommate was here. I also hoped my other roommates would come too! We could even dance a bit, if a perkier song came up. I'm not about to what? Slow dance with my roommate! I didn't have anyone to dance with so I was looking for one. That's ok, I could manage. I still had 6 more spring balls at Hogwarts. Riley had picked up a lemonade. I wondered if she'd ever had lemonade before coming from a pure blood background. I pulled away from my current conversation and walked/ran as fast as I could in my heels. I hugged her from behind and covered her eyes. "GUESS WHO!" I said. I was happy to see someone I knew and whenever I spotted one of my good friends I would hug them from behind a shout GUESS WHO! For some reason they always knew it was me! I kept one hand covering Riley's eyes and grabbed a strawberry lemonade from the refreshment table. There was a little mint leaf in there. Mmh.... I thought. This sure is an upgrade from pumpkin juice. I thought. Don't get me wrong, pumpkin juice is good, but there was nothing I loved better than fresh lemonade. I waited for Riley to get the hint that it was me behind her.

NOVALIE MOON! ✩
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
The suit fit her. Under the slim gilet, the dark wine-red shirt didn’t quite behave, slipping slightly over her shoulders, spilling out where it shouldn’t, its soft folds quietly admitting it had never been made for her. Even the sleeves resisted balance, pushed up into place just enough to suggest intention, though they still looked ready to swallow half her hands the moment she stopped paying attention. The trousers required a belt to sit properly, and an additional hole had been punched into the strap of the panther-black watch around her wrist so it would finally sit in place. But yes. Besides that, it fit. Novalie had long grown tired of her brothers’ hand-me-downs, which, especially in the case of formal attire, tended to be dull and devoid of color. Not so Eric’s old suit however. It, too, was a hand-me-down in a sense, yet it suited her frame far better than anything her brothers had ever given her. The fabric felt softer, smoother, and its blood-tinted fabric complemented her maroon curls, which she had pulled up into a ponytail, revealing the jewelry on her right ear - a thin golden chain that looped from the upper cartilage to her lobe, ending in a small diamond pendant dangling. Or at least, it would have been revealed, had the otherwise cohesive aesthetic of her outfit not been disrupted by the massive green Duolingo owl cosplay head perched on her shoulders. It was called the Wonderland Waltz, after all. In a setting devoted to the Wonderland motif, a language-learning app mascot was surely wondrous among guests dressed in elaborate, fantastical gowns, snacking on 'Eat Me' cakes, yelling 'Off with her head!', and painting white roses red. Well, it was also what Liam had sent her in a large package after she’d asked for something fun to dress up as. Her brother hadn’t failed her. Novalie turned her head, peering through the oversized but thin fabric of the eyes toward her companion, Fire, who had witnessed her unpacking the box days prior - and immediately latched onto the idea the moment they realized there hadn’t been merely one, but two Duo heads inside. Now they stood here together, stepping into the courtyard side by side as Mr. and Mrs. Duo, on a very serious mission - or rather, a bet: Lecturing as many people as possible on languages. Whoever reached the higher count by the end of the night would win the equivalent amount in Galleons! Novalie, obviously, had no realistic way of paying up if the Hufflepuff managed to win by talking to even a single person. Not that it concerned her though. She was fairly confident she would win this one herself. “Okay, so like, we’ve got until the last song of the night.”, she said, repeating what they had agreed on earlier to make sure they were still aligned, “Starting now!” Without waiting, the Metamorph instantly scanned the beautifully decorated courtyard, already searching for the first lucky victim friend to receive her grand knowledge of languages, which, by all reasonable standards, she absolutely did not possess. Then… he caught her eye. A nearly luminous white suit, softened by a light green dress robe, stood out sharply against the crowd. It looked unexpectedly fitting on someone she was far more used to seeing in darker tones. It suited the boy well, Novalie thought, tilting her head slightly as she lingered on him for a moment longer. ... Why was Harvey smiling like that though? “Calling dibs on Short King!”, the redhead declared after a few more seconds of silent observation, then giving Fire a firm pat on the shoulder and hurrying off toward the Slytherin Part-Goblin. Ever since their first real interaction in the library the previous September, Novalie had taken the time to learn what she could about her newfound friend. They hadn’t spoken much since, however, she still found herself watching him here and there - be it during meals in the Great Hall, in the corridors, or whenever one of her friends miraculously managed to drag her into the library. It was her way of checking whether he was alright, even if she, honestly, could rarely tell much from a distance. Still, the smile he wore today was definitely off! Now, what better moment to cheer him up then? Whatever it was, surely he’d be so thrilled to hear her speak Gobbledegook! With each step, the Ravenclaw subtly adjusted the illusion on her arms, making them appear slightly more defined, incrementally building the effect until she stood directly behind him. By then, her arms looked buff enough to stretch the loose fabric across her shoulders. It was a shame the girl couldn’t yet alter her entire body to appear like a bodybuilder, but alas, this would have to do. Strong and dependable was what she was going for, and it turned out quite well, if she could say so herself. “Did you know...”, she began, trying to deepen her voice as much as possible, “...that 'calceamentum'* means ‘you’re a flower’ in Gobbledegook?” |

I must be dreaming, someone pinch me!
l wasn’t dreaming, and luckily l didn’t say it out loud, because if l did l would die of embarrassment. Anyway, the fact that l was looking at someone l actually knew, well.. sort of. I vaguely remember her name.. uhm.. Sarah? Eh, didn’t matter, what DID matter was that l wasn’t gonna spend the rest of the night looking like some sad dork on prom night! Ah wait what did she say?! I always zone people out when l’m excited, which gives off the wrong impression.. oh wait l was doing it again.
"Hi, I believe we've met before, in the library. I'm terrible at remembering names, so could you remind me what yours is? I came alone and was wondering if you wouldn't mind some company."
Ohhhhhh, that makes sense, l wasn’t that memorable, well you might remember a awkward, clumsy, and curious to the point of stupidity… but other than that you won’t really remember me.
WAIT!
She offered to keep me company! THIS IS AMAZING!!
Be cool.. be cool..
“Omg yes!! I would love that! My names Mary!
I jump up and down, which was a miracle since these heels were out to get me.
I am so uncool.
Well, l was a uncool person with a friend.
YES!!!
I take a deep breath and l calm myself,
“Sorry, l was kinda worried that my first ball l would spend alone.”
I glance at your plate piled with food and a big bright smile envelops my face.
“The food is soooo good, right?”
I can’t believe how lucky l am. My night was really turning around. NOTHING could spoil this.
“Oh by the way, l sorta forgot your name too..
Great job stupid, you think you could add insulting to your list of flaws?
I really need help.

Some wounds feel so deep we don't think they'll heal, but when we open our eyes and truly look through the pain we see these three: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
