The Lost Pearl 2025 Fall Ball

Aamon Athanatos had arrived late. Not terribly late, just fashionably, deliberately, artfully late. The kind of late that suggested importance rather than negligence. The kind of late that said: I am quite busy but I still made sure that you were as much of a priority as the universe would allow. A trick he had learned from Vladimir some years ago. Punctuality was certainly a sign of respect, but it was also a symbol of compliance and of an idling, unambitious man.

The ball was taking place on the edge of the lake. Some sort of themed party - children play-acting as pirates or something like that. Aamon had skimmed the paraphernalia associated with the event, but he did not spend a great deal of time fretting about how he could best comply with the theme. Aamon Athanatos stepped onto the Lost Pearl like a scene changing.

Aamon, graced with enviable features, as if candlelight had been instructed to flatter him. He was wearing a slim-fitted, tailored black suit, with a black tie and a black satin collared shirt. He was not wearing any notable jewelry with the exception of a single silver-colored ring with a blue stone. He was not like some Slytherin students who made their house a major facet of their identity. Not a thread of green, no serpent-like jewelry or stitchwork. That would be obnoxious, and there was enough in the Athanatos nature that someone could have found offensive.

Aamon wasn’t smiling, not exactly. His expression hovered somewhere between composed and amused, the ghost of a smirk lingering like a secret. A year-ago, the boy would have vibrated with excitement, made some cringe-worthy declaration. Now, confidence radiated off him. It was not loud or crass, but deliberate. He had the quiet arrogance of someone who knew his reflection looked good and had the decency to pretend surprise when others agreed.

He was here to meet Nabi Park. A name that carried poise like a signature, her reputation a mirror of the very things he admired and occasionally wanted to provoke. He knew her, at least as much as anyone could claim to know a girl who seemed to struggle with social interaction. Her preference for the simple, the modest. Her measured formality. Mr. Athanatos, she would say, perfectly polite, as if the title alone were a wall between them.

He planned to test the strength of that wall tonight.

His gaze swept the room: velvet drapery, floating candles, faces dressed in their finest attempts at grace. He did not spot her immediately, but he knew what to expect. Nabi Park, in shades that turned the room itself shy. Aamon inhaled, rolled his shoulders back, and adjusted his cufflinks with the ease of someone who had practiced being nonchalant and perfected it.

Tonight, he decided, he would be exactly as charming as his reputation pretended he wasn’t.

fall ball 2025; interacting with @Lyanna Oak and @Landsey Griffith Sterling
The ball was starting to pick up now, which was nice since it meant Vera wouldn't be awkwardly hovering around until she found people she knew enter. Of course, that also meant people who didn't know her would interact with her.

Not a terrible thing, of course. That was the whole point of coming to the ball.

Vera looked up and gave the brown-haired girl a smile. "Of course not." She gestured to the empty chairs around them, her way of saying 'please sit'. Not too long after settling themselves, they started introductions.

"Lyanna, pleasure to meet you." Vera said. She placed a hand on her chest. "I'm Verity. Also a Hufflepuff."

There was a chance Vera had seen Lyanna around, though, as a Second year, they wouldn't share any classes. In their shared house commons, sure, but otherwise, it would be rare.

Not too long after Lyanna, there was a boy with more brightly coloured hair. Nothing natural, but still interesting.

Same to Lyanna, she gestured to the empty chairs to let him sit. "I'm not quite alone, but not so bored either." She chuckled.

A few more seconds was all she needed to realize she'd seen this boy before. "You're in one of my classes, aren't you? One of the Gryffindor boys?" She offered a hand. "I'm Verity, and I'm in Hufflepuff. You are...?"

4 October 2025 - evening of the Enchanted Depths Fall Ball

Image posted by the member s usual, the two met down in the Common Room before heading out. "I can hardly wait to see the photos you took, but no matter how miraculous a wizarding camera is compared to a Muggle version, nothing can ever compare to being able to look upon the real thing."

Then she leaned over to kiss Simon for a good 4-5 Mississippis before stepping back. When she opened her eyes once again, she would have guessed her smile was as wide as Simon's normally was, and that was a hint that things were s l o w l y getting back to normal for the two.

All in good time.

At this point in her Hogwarts career, AngelFyre was well versed in how to manage her wardrobe to avoid death by voluminous skirt or high heels at any of the Balls. Rookie moves those, and she had been there done that. Besides, big skirts got between her and her boy and that was just unacceptable. He looked much too enticing in his blue and gold pirate vest and white linen shirt, to be thwarted by such silliness. But even so, she did have fun with the dress preparations.

She had on a sleeveless, pale blue dress that had a rather iridescent quality to the skirt. It glimmered like mother of pearl when it caught the light just so... or the North Sea on a clear evening with shades of silvery blues, moonlight, and mystery. But the best part was that she could drop it in an instant and run like the wind if it became necessary. That was what the slacks beneath were for, but hopefully no one would be the wiser to their existence this evening.

As they made their way nonchalantly towards the incredible pirate ship's silhouette at the Great Lake, holding hands and swinging them in gentle arcs, AngelFyre could not help but tease him. Somewhat breathlessly she enthused, while managing to contain her bounce-stepping as they walked, "You know, love, I heard there is going to be a big rock on the far side of the ship, and anyone brave enough can make her way to it and let her inner siren out as she sings a haunting melody to her date. There is supposed to be a spot on the deck where the pirates can get a great view and, even better, an earful of their lady loves singing to them."

Now AngelFyre stopped them in their tracks and turned to him, very animated. If we do nothing else tonight, love, we just have to do that. I have been practicing so hard and I have the perfect song. It is why I have not been down at breakfast for the past three weeks," and she squeezed his hand three times a little more forcefully than she normally would have. "And I give you my Girl Guiding promise that no animals were rendered deaf... or insane... from my practice sessions."

She then uncharacteristically let go of his hand and ran a few steps ahead to really sell it, looking towards the ship.

"Can you see the big rock, or even the place on deck where the pirates are supposed to stand? Your eyesight is so much better than mine at this time of day."

She was literally biting her tongue to keep her laughter at bay.

Even though she had an abysmal singing voice, Simon had always supported her love for singing, not because he relished her singing itself, but because he relished her. He was largely responsible for her losing her inhibition about singing in public... so she imagined that was a decision he was likely regretting in this moment.

As she looked ahead, she started humming the siren song from O Brother, Where Art Thou? Three eternities would not be enough practice time for AngelFyre to soothe any savage beast with that caterwauling, and she chuckled.

Kafelé smiled at her reaction he was glad that he could laugh "with" someone. That story had always felt funny to him, but he never had friends to tell it to. It certainly didnt help that he was usually to shy to get a sentence out. Let alone a whole story about himself. Aisling apologized for laughing even though it was music to his ears. She was blushing brightly her freckles accenting her cheeks. He couldnt help but blush in response. He looked into her curious bluish green eyes as she asked about the shade he turned and how long the effect lasted. She told him she thought he was cute. He could feel warmth spread through his cheeks and neck as his face turned flush. He was about to do something but his mind had went blank. He looked away quickly out of embarassment. "Th...th...thank you." He studdered in response. He remembered briefly that she had adked what color he had turned. "F...f...for th..th..the record. I l..l..looked like i r..r..rolled in bl..blu..bluberries." What happened he all of a sudden couldnt form words he had been doing fine till now. All it took was that one word to stop him in his tracks. He wanted to pay back the compliment but his bravado had for the moment escaped him. As he was still struggling to remember everything they had talked about a voice broke the silence. A man with a linen shirt and woolen jacket stood before us doned with a cap to complete his outfit. His appearance was strange his eyes glassy and bits of coral clung to his person. He held out a card to the two of us offering it happily. He was a bit jarring to the eye but had a friendly demeanor. He gave us a welcoming speech and gestured to an area with tables. Many students were already in the area where the tables were set up. On the tables were several appetizers in a large variety, the tables seemed to be seated for anywhere from two to six students. Kafelé took the invitation and looked to Aisling. "Sh..sh..shall we." He said shly gently gripping her hand. Kafelé smiled at Aisling his golden brown eyes flitting between her eyes and the ground. He found it difficult to make eye contact without blushing. Not that avoiding it was helping him much.

𝓥iolence had a feeling that she would enjoy tonight, even if her life hadn't been roses and daisies. Dennis looked so fluttered when he'd seen her in the dress, she almost laughed. He wasn't afraid of touch, that much she'd gathered. The holding hands, the kiss on the cheek, the linked arms. He wasn't introverted. Violence wasn't exactly introverted either but she was skeptical of being too close with anybody until she knew them atleast a bit more than just their name. Dennis, however, had somehow managed to make it easy to be carefree. She felt relieved of the tension of being uptight, and she felt her muscles relaxing.

Her steps were in sync with Dennis' as they walked to the event area. The card they received upon entrance had text on it. 'Huh, ironic he's calling us lubbers, when we're supposed to be the guests.' What was that smell? Oranges? Lemons? She held the card close to her nose. 'Is this card supposed to smell like this? What's happening? It's a Hogwarts ball, I doubt everything will go smoothly. Something is going to happen, I can feel it.' Her brain was thinking of all the possibilities. The card did mention something about treasures, maybe there would be a treasure hunt? As they walked on, the card gleamed brighter, but then dimmed again. Maybe it was something to do with a particular light? She looked around, but they'd already gone too far for her to decipher the sudden glint.

Violence turned her attention to Dennis again. She smiled at the compliment, the smile instantly turning into a beam as he twirled her in his arms. She chuckled, "Are you always this sweet with women? I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions, I'm just trying to make conversation. Uhh, I don't know if you noticed but I wasn't in the best mood before coming here. I'm sorry if I'm being irritating." Violence scolded herself internally, why was it that when she started speaking, she just couldn't stop. Where did her etiquettes run off to? 'Violence get a hold of yourself. Seriously, stop rambling, bitch. Stop. Rambling.'

As Dennis pulled her away from where they were standing, she realised they were headed to the snack bar. 'Oh, thank heavens. I haven't eating anything in ages.' She gratefully took the crumpet from the plate he offered, as he answered her question. He looked around, and Violence realised they were here to dance, and she'd kept him up with questions. That would probably not create the best impression on her partner, but she was promised an answer. She shrugged internally, 'He could've answered that day also, I want my answer.' "Ooooh, Meyra Lancaster, nice name. Oh, is that her?" She faked seeing the girl in the ball, but she knew Dennis' head would snap instantly to look. She laughed out loud.

"I get it, first loves can be... devastating. Especially when you have a rough ending with no reasons and just thousands of questions." Her face morphed into the way she'd been feeling. She didn't know how serious it was with Dennis and Meyra. If it was as heartbreaking as her and Azz. For her, it felt like nobody could fathom what she'd been through. But maybe, somebody else could understand her situation, if not empathize with her. "Uh, a bit later, yes, I did find her. We were, yes." She took a deep breath, "That's all in the past now, no use discussing about something that's over. These macaroons are delicious, no? Merlin bless the elves that prepared this stuff for us. It's amazing" Would it be obvious that she was trying to change the topic? She just couldn't handle talking about Azzure as if she weren't here. It was almost as if voicing it would make it real. No take-backs. She couldn't handle that.

She remembered that they were here to dance, not talk. Ofcourse they could talk but, that wasn't supposed to take up the entire night. So, she decided to be the one to take the initiative. She turned her torso towards Dennis, held out her hand for him to take and spoke, "May I have this dance?" She smiled, hoping this wouldn't make things awkward. Her eyes searched Dennis' face for any hint of awkwardness or disgust. Hand in hand, they left the snack bar and walked towards the dance floor. She was excited, slightly nervous too. Her thoughts tried to wander to the time she'd danced with Azzure last spring. But she managed to focus on her surroundings. And probably the feeling of Dennis' hand in hers.

In all honesty, Meyra wasn't in the best mood, with everything that had changed in her life, a ball wasn't exactly something she was looking forward to. But what else would she be doing during that evening? Staying alone and brooding at her dorm? That would be even more depressing and somehow tasted like defeat and that was something she really wasn't willing to accept. So when she heard there was going to be a game at an underwater palace, it sounded interesting enough to talk to Jun and they both agreed to go. The theme chosen for the ball was also enticing enough, truth be told.

So there she was, crossing the wooden passerelle towards the main deck of the ship. Her green eyes wandered around, taking in the surroundings and all the decorations that had been tastefully selected to give the place the feeling that she was stepping into a pirate scene, a bit chaotic and bohemian, the ship bearing the scars of the fights and possible challenges it had faced on the high seas.

As she kept walking, her footsteps led her towards a strange figure. He was undoubtably a pirate,...or had been...? "Nice costume." Meyra told him in a dismissive tone as she accepted the card he had handed her. There was an involuntary shiver at his fingers' touch, but she shrugged it way, accepting it would possibly be all part of a plan to scare or frightening the guests. That would not work on her though.

She flipped the card on her fingers as she kept walking, a scent of citrus softly caressing her nostrils as she read the mysterious text there. Her lips tugged into a small smile as it mentioned the drowned treasure. Her soul was definitely going to dare enter there! She frowned slightly at the words that seemed to fade, but again, she decided not to give it a too much hard thought. Putting the card on the hidden pocket of her dress, her eyes hovered over the place, trying to find her cousin.

But instead of finding Jun, they found someone else she was kinda expecting not to cross ways with. Not that things between them had ended badly, they were still friends... or at least kind of? At the moment it had felt natural for them to go on their separate ways but why in hell her heart always did that weird thing whenever she saw him after that?

Dennis actually looked cute in that sailors outfit, and seeing him like that at another Hogwarts' event brought her mind to remember last time they had been together at ball, it gave her a feeling of regret she didn't quiet appreciated. And it only got worse when she found the girl laughing next to him. Wasn't she the same girl who danced with him during spring? Meyra's eyes hardened on the girl, an ugly feeling of jealousy gripping on her. What in Merlin's beard was wrong with her? She had no right to feel like that right?

Mey sighed, forcing her face into a forced neutrality. Giving Dennis one last look with a small, wry smile on her lips, she turned away from the couple and the others gathered around the place and walked toward the real challenge she was there to win.

Though Tatiana's main focus was of the card, she watched out of the corner of her eye as the short boy with impressively combed hair approached her, he was wearing an impressive set of robes of cream and white, though he had a set, serious face, he looked charming when he smiled at her and bowed his head.

Tatiana wasn't exactly looking for someone to talk to in the ship yet, but something in the boy's tipped ears to his short height made her interested in him. She was sure that he was a goblin, though she can't assume just yet, he seemed almost related to the one she'd met in Germany when she and her family was on vacation to look for certain hidden riches within the country. He had the same bulbous nose, though he was blond, but genetics can be quite confusing either.

She herself was taught not to judge people, not to jump to conclusions just because people look the same, there could be a chance that the person might be one's doppelganger, who knows, this world is full of mysteries after all. Tatiana tidied herself up just before the boy had reached her table, feeling a bit conscious about her appearance as facing a person from an unfamiliar place is quite the big deal to her.

She replied to the boy with a smile, “Well, good evening, Harvey,” she bowed her head slightly, the card still not slipping from her pale hands, “Thank you for the compliment, you yourself look quite impressive in those robes,” she added, her focus entirely shifting to this rather strange individual.

Aisling pictured splotches of violet all along Kafelé after he ate some of the Tentacula leaves. She chuckled softly. That had to be the cutest thing when it happened. In a weird way, it was kind of a shame she'd missed it. Then again, he was just as cute, if not cuter, how Kafelé was right this second. She could feel that she was beaming and it wasn't going to stop any time soon. Then again, she could barely believe that he was holding her hand. Granted, she was the first to hold hands, but after realizing that she was, Aisling wasn't expecting him to hold it again.

After the ghastly presenter announced the beginning of the first course, Kafelé asked to lead her in. She nodded. "Yes, we should." Before she knew it, she was sitting across from him in a table for two. Her stomach was jittery again. Was she sure it was because it was hungry? It would make sense, especially since the first course of dinner was about to start. But it felt slightly different, like it was more than just a growling stomach.

"You know," Aisling said, "I ... I don't know if you ever told me about how you found out you were a wizard." She swallowed. "You ... you don't have to tell me if you don't want to," she said, "but I'm just curious is all." As they sat, Aisling realized how soft Kafelé's grip on her hand was. It was gentle, just like him. For some reason, her heart seemed to skip a beat. Aisling tucked a lock of her ginger girls behind her ear, even though she was sure that her whole face was flushed.

Draven shrugged, looking at his own rather unassuming clothes. "It's not like they ever enforce the dress code," he pointed out, leaning against the wall behind him. In the corner they'd retreated, most the students paid them no mind. They could pass by easily, fragments of conversations making it over to the two boys.

His gaze settled on the only two other upperclassmen- a blonde girl with a pretty blue dress- Draven squinted at the hem, a small hum of appreciation leaving him subconsciously. The flare was gorgeous, moonlight dancing off fabric and attracting eyes from all over. Oh. And- he blinked. A blonde boy.

Are they siblings-.

Draven bit the inside of his cheek, grabbing the thought, crumpling it up into a ball, and visualizing its arc into the trash bin. Two blondes kissing didn't automatically mean House Lanister. For Merlin's sake. Muggle television had been the most atrocious (and sadly, weirdly entertaining) brainrot he'd encountered. It had also been the source of a wealth of intrusive thoughts, each one more bizarre than the last.

"Date-?" Draven blinked, returning his attention to Percival. "No-I-," Juni's face flashed before his eyes for a second, ginger hair and freckles lighting up. The pain had faded, he was starting to realize. He could hold her image in his mind's eye without it making his insides turn raw. His breath came easy. "No-"

No, he didn't have a date. The notion that anyone would fancy his neurotic ass was laughable. Perhaps four years ago, when he'd been slick and put together and responsible. Everything he wasn't now.

"Do y o u have a date?" Draven asked, raising an eyebrow.

Akeem Toussaint stepped onto the creaking passerelle with ease—the great lake shimmered under the moonlight cloaked in mystery and stories that were half-told. The passerelle creaked beneath his boots, its wood splintered and worn by time. He stopped at the edge of the deck, it was eerie and grand all at once. The blue flames danced inside glass jars while casting shadows across faded paintings of krakens. The entire scene felt like a dream and was hauntingly beautiful.

But nothing in the decor, not even the floating candles nor the coral-clad pirate who handed welcome cards... he held his attention quite like a figure standing near the drinks table.
Aulis Vorozheykin felt more like a vision, Akeem had remembered him well from the Toussaints' family dinner, but the memory had not done justice to the spectacle before him now. The director of Koldovstoretz was dressed in a royal blue suit that clung to his frame like water to silk, it was tailored so perfectly that it seemed conjured rather than stitched. Beneath it was a white tank top made with fine material—Akeem approached Aulis with a smile, his own attire understated in comparison to Aulis'. He wore a deep navy robe with a silver threading at the cuff, and he cleanly cut his hair. "Director Vorozheykin," he greeted, "you've managed to outshine even the ghosts today." He chuckled.

He reached for a drink while mirroring Aulis's casual elegance, he let his eyes linger just for a moment longer than polite, "I must say, you wore the theme like it was meant for you, it's bold. You have turned spectacular!"
