Rora’s mother, Rose, was a pureblood herbologist while her muggleborn father, Archibald but Archie for short, worked as a chemist. It wasn’t infrequent that experiments between the two professions overlapped at home. Her parents favored all that nature and science had to offer and ensured she grew up playing outside as much as she could. They supported her natural curiosity to learn more, try new things and deepen her basin of knowledge through books, vacations and professionals in the areas which she showed interest. Potions, in particular, was one of the key areas that Rora showed consistent interest in throughout her childhood.

She was always asking her father when the next "Bring Your Kid To Work" day at work was. She loved the experimentation and precise aspect of chemistry, despite the lack of magic. While it could be a muggle-counterpart to potions or alchemy, Rora took every chance she could to learn more about chemistry and muggle science. For Christmas, she would get both a children's potion set and a muggle chemistry kit to play around with. It wasn't uncommon that someone in the house would hear popping noises or a small explosion and come out to see Rora had gotten too adventurous with her concoctions. Once she even burned her eyebrows off - she never lived that one down with her brothers and sister. Good thing her mum was a herbologist by profession and always had the right remedy available to fix Rora up.

Rora has a second year sister, a fourth year brother and twin brothers who are seventh years. Over the past 6 years, Rora has smuggled whatever potions book her siblings had from that year at Hogwarts for some "light" reading in her spare time. While it is quite different than chemistry and the children's potions kits she is used to, she is most excited about the potions subject at Hogwarts. Prior to Hogwarts, she had read a very battered, hand-me-down version of the Magical Drafts and Potions book by Arsenius Jigger at least three times. Any time her siblings came home from holiday, she would insist on hearing all about their favorite potion of that year.

Now at Hogwarts, Rora's favorite subject is potions. As her time at Hogwarts progresses, Potions will be tied with Herbology and her career path will eventually guide her into Alchemy. The Prodigal Potions Learner ability makes perfect sense with Rora's history, background and future plot lines throughout her time at Hogwarts.

Linh was born to Muggle parents, but there are not only Muggles in her family. Indeed, her great-grandmother was born to a witch father and her great-grandmother is a witch. No one ever knew because the great-great-grandparents divorced when their daughters were four and eight years old. But it's also important to know that Linh's witch great-great-aunt was a Metamorphmagus, like her father. And since this talent usually skips a few generations, Linh inherited it.
Linh's metamorphism appeared at birth, but it was so brief that her parents didn't really notice. His eyes changed colour slightly depending on his mood. Usually they were brown. When she was particularly happy, her eyes would turn a slightly golden green. When she was sad, they were a pale shade of blue-grey. And when she was really angry, her eyes were black or a very dark red.
For five years, this is what you could call metamorphomagism at Linh. But on the night of his parents' divorce... She did magic for the first time. And her shape-shifting evolved. On the night of the divorce, during and after the fight, Linh, Sophie, Amber and Nancy (even though the youngest didn't understand much) were sad, angry, depressed. After the argument, Amber locked herself in her room crying and screaming, Nancy gave their mother a big hug and the twins stood in the kitchen doorway, petrified. The mirrors in the house were destroyed, Linh's hair had grown long. It had turned black. She now had long fringes that showed her eyes, which were daringly grey and red. Sophie screamed when she saw her sister and they went up to their room. Despite the shock of the divorce, the girls talked more about the mirrors and the strange thing that had happened to Linh. When Linh calmed down, she was back to her normal self, much to the relief of both sisters.
These two successive events were a real mystery to the two girls who were trying to understand what was going on even though they were 5 years old. It wasn't until they were in second grade that they really started looking. Sophie had finally noticed the change in Linh's eye colour. Since first grade, this change in colour had also been going slightly to her hair. Darker when she was angry or sad and blonder when she was happy. Sophie took notes, photographed her sister, documents that the girls studied whenever they could.
Two years later, Linh and Sophie told their best friends Suzie and Robin about the weird stuff that was happening to them. Understandably, they both promised not to say anything and to help their friends in their search. Robin had the right idea if Linh could not change her appearance at will. After several unsuccessful attempts, Linh managed to get dark blue hair. Robin and Suzie screamed, Linh and Sophie looked at each other excitedly and then all four of them started to laugh. With all this excitement Linh's hair turned pink and she immediately turned darker. She hates pink. She concentrated and her hair turned blue again. As Linh was the singer of their "band" she had fun trying to look like the different singers she covered. She could only change the length and colour of her hair and the shape and colour of her eyes. But it made for such funny combinations!
On discovering the world of magic, Linh discovered that she was not an alien and she was a little disappointed. But being a witch is even better!

Growing up in a rather judgemental home where everything she did couldn't satisfy her family, at one point, Marla gave up on appearances. It was tiring to push herself to the limit all the time to do the impossible. She couldn't impress people that already had a bias on her that wouldn't budge. For years, she tried time and time again with good grades, doing chores, good manners... And no response. It didn't matter to them what she did, they would simply find a reason to resent her and hold onto it for dear life. So she'd decided at one point in her life that she didn't care what anyone thought of her if they were going to hate her anyway. It was more of a defense mechanism than anything. This started off small, trying to tick people off in class and disrupting everyone. Then it slowly escalated to the point where she was getting detention most afternoons during her childhood. It was better to just numb herself and not even try, and it simply became an everyday habit for the girl.

People in school were only nice if they wanted something from her, and this furthered her habit of rejecting the superficial. When she had entered Hogwarts and discovered her abilities to completely change the way she looked at will, this had only encouraged her behavior. Beauty and power was such a fickle thing, especially if it could just be shaped and molded like putty. She had better things to put her effort into than things such as that. Though this didn't stop her from attempting to improve her powers. They were her birthright and she should take pride in being something so rare and advantageous as a metamorph.

Frankly, it annoyed her that people were able to get by so easily just because they were born with a pretty face that'd be worn and droopy with wrinkles in thirty years. And yet, an average looking person with a brilliant mind would be blown off due to first impressions. This motivated her to prove to others that these things were simply a facade, whether she was right or wrong. Whenever she was around someone she deemed relied on beauty, she would do her best to get a hit in on their ego and beat them in whatever they're doing. It may not have been effective, but Marla saw it as her duty to do this for herself– so she couldn't get hurt again.

Name of Ability: Charmer

Reason Why:
There are many different kinds of people in the world. You have the incredibly smart and analytical who can figure out the truths of the universe or people around them as simply as others would figure out how to tie their shoes. You have the great and imposing fighters who can take the kind of punishment that would drop half a dozen others while dropping anyone who stands against them and their goals. And then, you have the kind of people who others naturally flock to, are easy to befriend and have a natural talent for putting others at ease and making them feel like everything will be ok. Arden, falls into the third group of people.

A natural athlete to be sure, though that is not his only or greatest gift. Perhaps it comes from the natural tenderness and kindness of his mother, or maybe even the influence of his stalwart and loyal hufflepuff father, but regardless of where it came from Arden always had a knack for befriending people. He has a casual and laid back nature, while being genuine and empathetic to everyone he meets while caring how they feel and wanting them to be happy it was rare for the boy to come across anyone he didn't like him. Even among the bullies, or hard cases in his school he managed to never become a target and instead managed to talk them down more than once to stop them from harassing others.

Spurned on by his father to befriend as many people as he could Arden then would go out of his way to talk to whoever he could, find common ground or mutual interests even if it was only in passing or in an obscure subject. More than once Arden even experienced new hobbies, interests, types of music in his efforts to befriend people that he never would have sought out on his own, and even after the fact never really indulged in outside of his interactions with his new friends that did.

Inevitably however you are bound to come across people that you just dont mesh with. Maybe its idealogy, or general disposition or personality, or perhaps something as simple as the impossible to define "just because" factor. While Arden has met the occasional person who didn't like him, or more heartbreakingly he just didn't like them despite his efforts to he has as of so managed to make it through his life without making any enemies with these kinds of people and instead parting on amicable terms. After all, how can you hate the boy? hes such a Charmer

Robert has always been an overachiever. Whether it be his studies or anything else, if he isn’t doing the best he possibly can, he is doing something wrong. It is because of this that he barely has any social life whatsoever, but it is also because of this that he has never gotten lower than an O on an assignment. Contrary to how it might seem, this did not come from a natural affinity to his studies, but from a natural ability to push himself past his limits for anything he cared about. If a teacher assigned a page long essay, he wrote two pages. If he needed to practice a spell for an hour, he practiced for two. However, maybe the best example of this characteristic portrayed itself in dueling, not academics.

When Robert first joined the Ravenclaw dueling team, he was one of two first-years in the entire league. His first duel comprised of two fourth-years, a third-year, and him. Needless to say, it did not go so well. After losing consciousness approximately six seconds into the duel, he vowed to improve. Holding himself to the same standards as his teammates, all of whom were his senior, he found it necessary to practice twice as hard, study twice as much. He seemed to already have a mild talent for spellcasting, if you count never failing spectacularly as talent. However, he was not satisfied with this. As with everything else, he wasn’t happy with just passing by, he wanted to go above and beyond.

Cue the training montage in the dueling room. Unlike in the movies, this didn’t take a mere week, or maybe a month, but it spanned over the entire school year. Every day, Robert made it his routine to spend 45 minutes practicing after finishing classes. Fine minutes to set up the dummies (his physical warmup, no magic involved), ten minutes to practice form (still without any real casting), followed by fifteen minutes of repetitive drills on a singular spell that changed daily. The final ten minutes were spent engaging in a deadly mock duel with the dummies, complete with dodging (or failing to dodge) pretend attacks. After a short cooldown period, Robert would put back the dummies, using magic this time, before reflecting on his session on the way to the library for homework and dueling studies.

Every once in a while, he managed to cast a spell that just felt right, natural. The magic coursing through body and wand without the slightest resistance is similar to how he imagined electricity feels while racing through a wire of pure gold. The feeling didn’t come very often, and he could almost never replicate it twice in a row, but this was what he strained for every day, and why these hours upon hours of training were not about to stop any time soon.

Before going to Ilvermony, it was not unusual for Nigel to visit his maternal grandparents in Belém, Brazil. A city boy, Nigel felt lucky that his grandparents lived in the gateway to the Amazon River, as this gave him chance to enjoy nature, something he could rarely experience back home. Even though Belém was a city with a busy port, Amazonian vegetation and botanical gardens could still be found.

Nigel's favourite part during the visit was whenever his grandfather took him and his sisters for walks, saying, "Let's go and look for the rhythms in nature." They would sit underneath a big tree, observing how its leaves and branches sway in the breeze, slowly or quickly depending on whether the wind was strong or weak. If there was no wind, they would wait patiently for the slightest zephyr. At other times, they would go to a nearby river and watch the water flowing. Nigel was never tired of doing things like these.

Sometimes his grandmother would come along, and tell the children stories about non-human living beings, be it magical or not. "Some of them can even have kids with humans, especially wizards like us," she said as Nigel listened with interest and amazement. She told them pretty much all of these creatures, from part-giants to part-veelas, part-goblins to dhampirs and werewolves.

When it was time to enroll at Ilvermony, Nigel would use knowledge of nature and these creatures as a kind of bridge between him and his grandparents. His body might be stuck at school, but his mind and spirit ran freely with the wind and water in Belém. His keen on non-human beings did not stop there, however. Now that he had access to wizard books, he could learn more about the creatures. He even found out about people with special talents, very rare their number might be as rare as part-giants or werewolves. There were people who could predict the future rather accurately, and for this they were usually called seer. And then there were metamorphmagus, people who had the ability to change their physical appearance and voice at will. But Nigel found parselmouths, or those who could speak to snakes, most interesting. He was not that fond of reptiles save for turtle and tortoise, but he thought it must be nice to be able to talk to animals.

As a first-year, Nigel still had to master the basic knowledge and practical skill of magic. His timetable was composed of required classes and like the other students of his year, he did not have time to enroll in electives. However, Nigel was very sure he would learn magical creatures for his elective if it was available, and he also knew it would be his favourite class.

My entire household consists of purebloods. Being one, I felt like I needed to delve into the fine details of the Wizarding World. There are so many working parts to our society, some of which we haven't even begun to go beyond the surface.
Even before beginning my Hogwarts education, I've been a bookworm. My parents have an extensive collection of works from many famed wizards and witches. I read through the volumes particularly over the summer when I had free time. After my first instance of magic at the age of 9, I consulted my parents on reading through their old textbooks. They thought it was a good idea, even if the books weren't the same as I'd be getting if I was accepted into Hogwarts.
Most children who have parents who attended Hogwarts hear about the school, hoping that they get to attend it as well, carrying on the family legacy. I was the same way. I'd always ask about the school. From the traditions to the courses, I wanted to know what to expect.
Although I couldn't perform wandless magic, that did not stop me from memorizing spells. The textbooks my parents let me read were incredibly helpful. Most common spells have been around for centuries, and they don't change. Through that knowledge, I knew I couldn't be thrown any curveballs from professors. Even if I didn't end up getting into Hogwarts, I'd still need to know these. Plus, it's always a good idea to get ahead of the other kids.
By the time I got my acceptance letter from Hogwarts via Griffin, the family screech owl, I had already learned the wand movements and incantations to half of the first year Charms and Transfiguration lessons, or at least what I expected to be taught. I was surprised at how quickly I had obtained the information, but I knew from past experience in school that I tended to be a step ahead of everyone else. I'm not one to brag, but I know I'm smarter than average.
Despite memorizing spells, they take a lot of practice. I took a stick from our backyard and practiced the movements as if it were my wand. I'd stay up at night, reciting incantations until I knew them like the back of my hand. I not only wanted to be ahead of the class, I wanted to impress the teachers. Now here I am, hopefully doing just that....
Nothing impresses a teacher like a perfectionist.

Growing up with six older brothers, it’s no wonder that Adeline has learned to be very stealthy. From the moment she could walk, she could be found wandering into places that she wasn’t supposed to be. Though obviously, at such a young age, it never took long for one of her family members to find her and remove her from their personal space.

As she got a bit older, her sneaking about developed more of a purpose, as she loved listening in on people’s conversations. She believed that the only time you saw a person’s true self was when they didn’t know they were being observed. In order to do this, she had to find a way to slip in and out of rooms undetected. Stealth was key, because if she were to get caught, it not only meant that she would miss out on the current conversation, but whoever she had been spying on would surely be more cautious in the future, too.

It wasn’t just her family who had to endure her spying, either. Wherever they went, Addie would often sneak off for a few minutes to eavesdrop on other patrons or shop owners or employees. More than once, she had overheard something that definitely wasn’t meant for the ears of a child, and more than once, her family had been asked to leave after she had been caught.

While eavesdropping was great fun, over time, it held less appeal for Adeline, and her actions escalated into the world of pranking. This was a much riskier hobby than she’d had before, and again, she found herself needing to up her stealth, as practical jokes required her to work unseen, whereas when listening in on people, all you had to do was hide and stay put.

At first, it was an imperfect practice, and her brothers were increasingly angry the more times they found her hiding dungbombs in their clothes or super gluing all of their belongings to the floor. But over time, she developed the ability to move quickly and silently, hanging back in the shadows when she saw someone coming, or curling up into an impossibly tiny space to avoid detection. She grew more efficient with her pranking techniques as well, some of which she could pull right in front of your eyes without you even knowing.

11 years of messing with her brothers helped her develop an unnatural amount of stealth, which will continue to serve her well throughout her time at Hogwarts.

Getting out of dodge is something that Adeline has been doing for much of her life. As a child, her parents had enrolled her in muggle primary school, hoping to give her a good educational foundation (and get her out of their hair a bit) before eventually sending her off to Hogwarts. Addie was never popular at these schools, and would pick fights with anyone who dared to mistreat her. Given that Addie is not particularly strong, this led to a lot of bloody noses, and being expelled from two different primary schools.

Upon starting at her third school, Adeline’s parents made it very clear to her that another expulsion would result in more severe action on their part, so however reluctantly, Addie knew that she had to behave this time around. Unfortunately, good behavior on her end did not mean that others would treat her kindly in return. After enduring more mistreatment from a few of her new peers, it finally dawned on Addie that she could do whatever she wanted...as long as she didn’t get caught. This change in mindset opened a whole new world of possibilities.

Adeline began striking first--not physically, but verbally. Her insults were masterful and eloquent--after all, she had been raised in a houseful of clever Ravenclaws--and these words often provoked an attack from her classmates. Addie knew that to be caught by these bullies would end in yet another pummeling, and fighting back would get her expelled, so she put all of her focus and energy into dodging and evading. She had no other choice than to be light on her feet to duck and avoid the attacks of her enemies. Over time, she grew even more dexterous, and became a faster runner as well, as many times, her avoidance tactics involved sprinting away fast enough that her pursuers couldn’t keep up.

During her first year at Hogwarts, some of this evasive ability diminished a bit as she didn’t find herself needing to run away from anyone. However, as her second year rolled around, Addie found herself among a new group of people, who shared her love of pulling pranks on their superiors. While Addie had mainly stuck to practical jokes that required stealth, this group tended to take a more head on approach, and the need to get away after causing disaster and mayhem sparked new growth in her evasive abilities. The foundation she had developed back in primary school resurfaced, and the more pranks she and her friends pulled, the better she became at quickly getting out of the way of angry prefects and professors.

Everyone liked some beauty in their life, be it in the form of visual or auditory, or even some other form. Anyone who claimed they did not need any loveliness could be guaranteed lying.

For Nigel, the beauty that caught his attention would be art, be it music, play, dance, or painting. Art and of course, nature. Yes there were a number of good-looking people out there, he would not deny, but everything stopped at that for him. They did not cloud his judgment or decision to perform or not to perform things, even if his action would affect them negatively.

He generally distrusted people either way, particularly those he did not know well personally. His sharp mind, always alert, constantly reminding him that many great figures in history had made terrible decisions simply because they were blinded by others' beauty or charm - Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony falling for Cleopatra's trick perhaps being the most popular examples - and Nigel made sure he would not be one of them.

His experience with the school bullies only strengthened his belief regarding physical appearance and his determination not to be duped by it. After all, some of the meanest kids he had ever encountered could be considered nice-looking, including a dashing Quidditch player who told Nigel he looked like as if he never washed his hair (despite the fact he washed it daily) and a girl with such a sweet face who tried to ensure their professor Nigel got an E by cheating (he spent three days working on that particular assignment).

Another thing that worked hand-in-hand with Nigel's determination was his strong moral compass. He knew his values, values built on the sense of what was morally right, and he did not even for once compromise these values. Nigel believed in doing the right thing according to moral principles, and this included studying people instead of judging them from what little could be seen about them. The moment he met a person - it did not matter whether they were interacting directly or not - he observed what the person did, not how they looked like or how their voice sounded.

"See what is inside," he remembered one of his professors once said, "not what is outside, and you'll recognise a person's character. It's only when you look at their heart you can understand whether their intention is pure or not."

Nigel strongly believed that his professor's word was right. Often keeping his thoughts and words to himself, he opened his eyes, the eyes of his brain and of his heart. Without talking, he listened and observed, undeterred by the subject's physical charm or beauty, studying their character and true intention.

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly," a voice inside him whispered softly, quoting a book he liked very much. A soft whisper, but it echoed inside Nigel and remained in both his conscious and subconscious minds. "What is essential is invisible to the eye."

Again, again, again. The mantra that repeated itself in Adelaide's head every single ballet lesson. Hours spent repeating moves over and over again because it had to be perfect, there was no room for failure. Her ballet teacher praised her, her parents were so proud of how well she was doing, so surely she was doing something right?

She wasn't exactly sure when it had started, all she knew was that everything she done had to be perfect. No mistakes, no flaws, just perfection.

"That's an amazing result, darling!" Her mother comforted her, threading her fingers through Adelaide's hair in an attempt to soothe the young girl. She harshly jerked away from her mother's touch, waving the piece of parchment around wildly as if it was on fire, she screamed, "No it's not! It should've been a perfect result! I was certain I had all the answers correct!" Tears streamed down her already tear-stained cheeks.

Her mother sighed and bent down to be eye level with Adelaide. "Don't cry, angel, you did extremely well. Look," she grabbed the parchment from Adelaide's hands and held it up, "You only got two wrong. That's still amazing." Adelaide sniffled, glaring at the piece of parchment in hopes that it would actually catch on fire. It was only a simple English test that her tutor had given her, and she had breezed through it. Except she had gotten two wrong. Deep down, she knew it wasn't a good reason to throw a temper tantrum but whenever she saw the 18/20 scribbled in her tutor's messy handwriting she felt like her whole world had collapsed. How had she got two wrong? The girl had felt like a failure.

Adelaide never got anything below full marks in a test after that day. Most of her time had went into making sure there were no mistakes in anything she had done, everything had to be perfect. Her clothes had to look perfect, her work had to be perfect, dancing had to be perfect. Every aspect of her life had to be perfect. Some may think that being a perfectionist is good, and while it may be a benefit to the professors as all the work you done would always be correct, it was also very tiring and time-consuming. Most of the time, Adelaide was found staying up late at night going over her work to make sure there were no mistakes, practicing a ballet move that she still had not got quite right or practicing a song on the piano that she just couldn't get correct. The longer it took Adelaide to perfect something, the more frustrated she got. Sometimes her frustration would heighten to the point of tears, she would stay up crying just because she couldn't get that one thing perfect that day. It could be the simplest thing, but it would still bring the young girl to tears.

The time it took a perfectionist like Adelaide to do something was drastically longer than a normal person. Hours upon hours were spent practicing ballet, the piano, making sure her homework was perfect before giving it to her parents or tutor. Hours that should've been spent playing outside as kids do were spent cooped up in her room. She simply could not rest until it was perfect.
