Sorting Ceremony Sept 2022

The moment Megara had been waiting for had finally arrived. Ever since she had received that small drop of attention from her parents when her acceptance letter arrived, she had been craving another taste of attention. She had packed her parchment, quill, and ink at the top of her trunk, so that she could write a letter home as soon as the sorting ceremony was over. She knew no matter what house she was sorted into, her parents would return her letter with a page of excitement. She knew they would be a little less enthused if she was sorted into Slytherin, but she had already prepared herself for such an outcome. Ever since her oldest sister, Este, had started her tenure at Hogwarts, she had told Megara she would be a Slytherin due to the chaos she brought to the Archeron home.

"Slytherin is where all the naught kids go," her sister teased during her first holiday break. "You'd fit right in with all the stunts you pull and your mischievous nature."

Este had been sorted into Ravenclaw. She was studious and wise beyond her years. Megara figured if she was deemed ill-fit for Slytherin, her next most likely choice would be Ravenclaw. She was a top student and did enjoy reading and writing.

Between Este's sorting and Megara's, the second Archeron, Lark, had come to Hogwarts. Again, this was a good match for her sister. Lark was sweet, a true friend, and loved to tend to plants and animals.

Now it was Megara's turn to seal her fate. She knew she would be one of the first to be sorted, if not the first. She ambled toward the front of the crowd of incoming students, prepared to step up to the wooden stool. Once the professor up front unrolled the scroll of names and read out the first name, which was surprisingly not Megara's, the room started to spin a bit. There was no reason for her to be nervous, but she could barely focus on who was headed up to the stool and any of the words that came out of the hat's mouth. In the blink of an eye, it was her turn.

"Archeron, Megara," the old hat crooned. Megara shakily made her way to the front of the Great Hall. The hat was dropped on her head, the brim nearly covering her eyes. She desparately tried to meet her sister's eyes at the golden and blue tables across from her, but the crowd turned into a sea of blurry faces.

"Another Archeron, eh?" the hat pondered. "So different from your sisters, aren't you? Loyal to yourself only. Studious, but only for the praise. Slytherin would suit you fine, but there is a fierceness in you that shines bright. Better be..."

"Gryffindor!"

The hat was quickly yanked from her head and the whole hall erupted in applause. She finally caught a glimpse of Este at the far end of the hall, and Megara noted a hint of apprehension on her sister's face as she slowly clapped. Megara couldn't help but be confused herself, as she sat down at the table belonging to her new home.

Daniel Hellsing,
first year, Hufflepuff[

The crowd of students entered the doors of Hogwarts, Daniel walked excitedly towards the main hall, all those new things he was seeing, the lights that were coming from the main hall, the paintings, the walls made of stone, it seemed that his heart couldn't take the excitement.

Arriving at the entrance, the lights of the candles that hovered above and the stars on the ceiling made him hypnotized by its beauty, it seemed that he was walking into a dream, it really did seem like a dream, Daniel gives himself a small pinch just to make sure he was awake , and even if I was sleeping, I didn't want to wake up, it was an incredible place.

As soon as he sits at the table with some other students, he observes the entrance ceremony, he looked like a child in a candy store, he looked everywhere with splendor, and when several students started to gather and were called by their names to be chosen for houses, Daniel felt cold in his stomach, he was excited but nervous at the same time.. all those people staring at him.. but he wouldn't let himself get nervous just because of that, whatever happens it's going to be okay , he repeated that phrase a few times in his head until the cold feeling in his stomach passed.

and tried to distract himself by looking the other way, but his distraction was immediately cut off.

"-Daniel Hellsing Solage!"

His body froze, as if he couldn't move... it was his turn.. gotta move let's go.. go! After an effort, the boy took a few steps forward and sat down on the small stool, with his eyes closed very nervous, he couldn't try to distract himself anymore and he didn't want to open his eyes. The hat seemed to be taking too long on his head, he was afraid he would tell him to go home, or that he shouldn't be at school, but he heard the hat say "--Brave,loyal, strong sense of self but there's something else in you.. kindness, Oof such difficult one Oh! a strong sense of justice.. I think you would fit in ..

HUFFLEPUFF!

Daniel opened his eyes and saw the Hufflepuff table screaming in joy, he opened a smile getting up, going down the small steps and passing by some students, and sitting at the table.

Maybe he was right, this year will be unforgettable.

To say that Venus had been anticipating this moment would be an understatement. Perhaps it was a universal pureblood experience, brought on by tales of magical glory and family history. Ever since she was a child, listening to her parents' stories, she knew she would someday stand in their shoes, that someday it would be her turn to make the world her own.

Above the dining room table in Adair Manor hung a family tree of the main pureblood lineage depicted with rich tones in the shape of an ornate drooping branch. With each new member of the family to graduate from Hogwarts, a new leaf was added with their name and choice of career. Her fathers was an ocean blue and her mother's a forest green. Above them, her grandmother hung in golden yellow and her grandfather in forest green. Her father's brothers were forest green, forest green, and scarlet respectively. His sister was also colored in ocean blue. The tree continued upwards in a beautiful rainbow of colors representing Hogwarts graduates of centuries past. Much to her grandmother's chagrin, Venus and Mars took pleasure in trying to pronounce the old wizarding names and laughing at how funny they sounded.

In seven years, a new leaf with the name Venus Adair would be added to the tree. It would be shaded in and under her name would be the title "Unspeakable," her child dream ever since she studied the departments of the Ministry. It would face upwards towards the sky. She could picture it well in her mind.

It didn't particularly matter to Venus the color of her leaf. Her family had attended Hogwarts in all the houses. Ravenclaw was the worst out of the lot only because Mercury was there already and would nag her constantly if she was in close proximity. Hufflepuff had a good reputation. She would meet other good people there certainly. Gryffindor was known to be honorable as well, if not slightly careless. In some ways, Slytherin was more honorable than either. Determination and integrity were admirable traits as well.

"Venus Adair" the hat announced, bringing her out of her thoughts. It was her time. Her legs carried her quickly to the stage.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here? Another Adair, is it? I've seen quite a few of your kind here. Your sister was sorted into Ravenclaw. Are you a Ravenclaw as well? Your mind is quite fast I'm seeing. I see more confidence though and attention to values. You are compassionate like a Hufflepuff but proud like a Slytherin. I will have to consider this in depth. Better make it..."

"Slytherin!" The hat cried out after a minute.

There were too many things occurring at once for Venus to process her house fully. Instead, she focused on examining the other first years who were with her and gazing up at the floating candles. Her feet guided her safely to a seat at her table.

This was her future...

Moving from the lake to the castle was not as Levi had expected it to be. He felt almost like a Ravenclaw, looking around at the numerous moving portraits, seeing a few ghosts floating about and finally the Great Hall itself. Now, that was a room worthy of its name. The little boy was in awe as he studied the long tables, filled with older students who looked particularly smug at being at the school for at least a year longer than he was. He quickly glanced in the direction of the Slytherin table, hoping to see a few familiar faces. But alas - he was simply too short to look over the crowd and find someone he knew. "It doesn't matter. I'll sit with them soon." He whispered to himself, as the line of first years moved along to the forefront of the hall.

He only had a quick moment to look up at the floating candles and wonder if they dripped all over the table - and if they didn't, what magic made sure they wouldn't - before everyone's attention was directed at the Headmaster and the Sorting Hat. Levi didn't quite catch the joke, but he certainly was at attention once the hat started singing. "Seems like a weird party trick for a hat." He thought. However, most students seemed to enjoy it tremendously, judging from their loud applause once the hat had finished. Levi clapped along a little, feeling slightly less at ease. Was it normal to feel this scared and nervous before a Sorting? Of course, he would go to Slytherin. No one, not one single Hawthorne in the history of Hogwarts had gone to a different house. Besides, he wasn't exactly known for kindness - like the Hufflepuffs - or smarts - like the Ravenclaws. And everyone knew Slytherin hated Gryffindor. Surely the Hat would not end up putting him in a house that would make his family...

"HAWTHORNE, LEVI." His thoughts were interrupted as Headmaster Lear bellowed out his name. He quickly made his way to the front, trying not to trip over his own robes. Unfortunately, the stool the Hat was sat upon was quite high and Levi simply was not. He looked at it for a second and figured a little hop was the only answer. He placed his hands near his back, a bit higher than he'd have liked and made sure to really put a jump in. Landing on the hard wooden bit was a little less pleasant than he would've hoped and he could've sworn he heard several people snicker at his clumsiness. But before he could fully let the experience sink in - seeing the Hall from up there - it got dark in front of his eyes and he felt the comforting warmth of the Hat.

"Right, boy. Let's see, a Hawthorne, eh? From Jones.... The Cambridge lad. Yes, well, I remember him." So far, so good, thought Levi. "But I sense something different in you..." The Hat continued. "Yes, there is ambition, certainly. And a desperate need to fulfill the family wishes." Levi was starting to get even more nervous. He'd never considered for a second that this would be a hard choice. And was it just him or did it truly take a long time? He started whispering "Slytherin, please Slytherin." But it merely made the Hat chuckle. "No boy, that is not your true wish and heart. You belong to..."

"GRYFFINDOR!" Levi was almost certain his face had turned red like the House color as the Hat was lifted off him and he was urged on to walk towards his table. Not the Slytherin, but the Gryffindor table... But as much as he knew the trouble this might cause... He still felt a little lighter.

Sorting Ceremony Sept 2022
Bathilde Fireshadow was an 11-year-old girl who had just arrived at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She felt incredibly stressed and overwhelmed, having not slept well the night before and feeling disoriented in this new and unfamiliar place. As she entered the room where the Sorting Ceremony was taking place, she was met with a sea of unfamiliar faces, all waiting nervously for their turn to be sorted. Bathilde had never been around so many people at once before, and she felt even more overwhelmed than before.

She stood awkwardly among the other students, unsure of what to do with herself. Everyone seemed to be chatting and laughing with each other, but Bathilde felt like an outsider. She didn't go out much and wasn't used to being around so many people at once. She tried to keep to herself, but it was hard to ignore the buzz of excitement around her.

After what felt like an eternity, the headmaster finally called out, " Fireshadow, Bathilde!"
Bathilde's heart skipped a beat as she approached the Sorting Hat, feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement, her heart raced with anticipation. She had always imagined herself in Hufflepuff, just like her mother. But as the Sorting Hat was placed on her head, she felt a sudden surge of possibility.

"Hmmm," said the Sorting Hat, its wise voice echoing inside Bathilde's head. "No need to be nervous. I see in you a curious mind, a hard-worker eager to explore and understand the mysteries of the world around you. You possess a deep love for the natural world, and a rare appreciation for the beauty and wonder that surrounds us all."

Bathilde's eyes widened with surprise. The Sorting Hat seemed to know her better than she knew herself.

"You also have a heart full of kindness and compassion," continued the Sorting Hat.

"Your empathy and understanding of others is a rare gift that will serve you well in any path you choose. And though you may have a quiet strength and resilience, I sense that your potential lies in pushing yourself to be the best, even when it's difficult"

Bathilde felt a sense of pride and determination swell within her. The Sorting Hat's words had unlocked a new sense of purpose within her. She nodded thoughtfully, considering the Sorting Hat's words. The idea of being the best version of herself was both terrifying and exciting.

After a moment of contemplation, the Sorting Hat spoke again. "You have a heart of gold, Bathilde Fireshadow, and a kindness that is rare. You have the potential to be great, to achieve things beyond what you thought possible. And I believe that the path that will lead you to that greatness is the one that lies before you today."

"SLYTHERIN!" the Sorting Hat shouted.
Bathilde was surprised. That was NOT expected.

She stood up, lost in her thought. As she made her way to the Slytherin table without even thinking about it, she couldn't shake off the Sorting Hat's words. "Slytherin?" she thought to herself. "What does he mean, Slytherin? He literally just described a Hufflepuff. Did I not listen well when he was talking? My mom was a Hufflepuff. I thought for sure I was destined for that house. This doesn't make sense. Is he crazy?"
Bathilde's mind was full of confusion and anxiety. She had always thought she knew who she was and where she belonged. But now, she was beginning to question everything. As she sat down at the Slytherin table, surrounded by unfamiliar faces, she couldn't help but feel like a fish out of water.
"Why did the Sorting Hat put me in Slytherin?" she thought to herself. "I don't have a quarter of the ambition that they're known for. I'm hardworking and kind, not devious or ruthless. This must be a mistake."
Bathilde couldn't concentrate on anything else as she watched the other students around her chatter and laugh. She felt alone and out of place, and couldn't help but wonder how she would fit into this new world of hers. She took a deep breath, and another one, feeling a weak sense of determination. She felt somewhat ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, she did not have the choice anyway. Everybody knew that the sorting hat is never mistaken. At least, she knew that she was capable of greatness, no matter which house she belonged to.

Niks stood with a huge group of first years in the middle of the Great Hall. When she had entered the Hall, she was gobsmacked. This was so beautiful! The sky was a representation of how it looked at that moment outside. What spells could do that? She was staring at the sky while walking forward, and stumbled a bit. She immadiately felt the blush rie to her cheeks. This wasn't the moment for stumbling!
For the rest of the walk, she tried to look forward, and not be distracted by the magic roof, but that proved to be rather difficult. Instead, she focussed on the rest of the hall. There where four large tables, or the four houses. Some students looked excited, and others bored. How would she sit on one of these tables in the next years?
The group stopped in front of the Headmaster and the Sorting Hat.
Niks missed the speech for the most part, because she was still looking around in the hall.
Then, they started to call the names of the first years that were getting sorted.
"Ikke Niks" she hear, and a rush of excitement coursed through her body. She tried to walk to the front without wobbling legs, but it was difficult. This moment would probably influence the rest of her life!
The hat was placed on her head, and she hoped for Slytherin or Ravenclaw. She felt like one of those two would fit her the best.
The hat mumbled something, and then it said: "Ravenclaw!""
Most of the cheers interrupted from the blue and bronze table, but the other tabels also clapped politely.
She smiled wide, walked to the table, and sat down.

Today, the moment Aveline has been waiting for has come. After boarding the Hogwarts Express and crossing the lake, she arrived at Hogwarts. Aveline looked around and saw the faces of the first years who couldn't wait to be sorted. After waiting for my turn, the teacher called my name.
"Aveline Violette Hillard."

Aveline advanced nervously and her heart beat pounding without rhythm. She stepped hurriedly up, a teacher invited her to sit, then she sat down and the sorted hat began to speak.

"Hmm, very unique, aren't you from a pure-blood family?"

"Your parents wanted you to go to Gryffindor house, didn't they?" asked the hat

"And you look as nerdy and smart as Ravenclaw."

"You are unique, ave. Your heart is pure and gentle, in silence, you want to take care of everyone and your heart truly loves people. You are also very loyal, always honest and work hard, I know you are very ambitious but you put other people's feelings first."

"HUFFLEPUFF IS YOUR HOME, AVE."

I smiled a little and saw people clapping and my brother, Davion, mocking me while standing near the table of other Gryffindors.

Well, Ave was very happy and mingled with some of his dorm mates, Hufflepuff.

No thanks, I'd rather be reading

Lucinda walked into the Great Hall and was dazzled by how enormous yet magical the Great Hall looked as she was lined up with the other students who were unsorted into a house.

Today is the day, Lucinda finally gets to be sorted to her house. She truly wonders what house she'll get sorted into. Some people say Slytherins are the 'bad apples' of all the houses because some students had terrible experiences when it came to them but her mother said not all Slytherins are like that and not all Gryffindors are arrogant as people thought they are. "Anyone can be cruel and mean towards others despite being sorted in their respected houses. But they can also be kind and genuine, you just have to watch their every move, Starlight."

Remembering her mother's words of wisdom, Lucinda would have to judge a person based on their actions and not for what they are. She stopped being in her own thoughts once her name was called: "Falwinds, Lucinda." She went up and sat on the stool where the sorting hat was placed on her head.

The hat senses and said all the characteristics of her personality before making its conclusion. "You shall be sorted to... HUFFLEPUFF!"

Everyone sitting at the Hufflepuff table cheered while the other houses clapped while still smiling.

Nathara awoke startled to the piercing scream of excitement that rang through the house, her aunt clearly had been excited about something but she couldn't quite think what with her still foggy morning brain.

"its here. Johnny its here" she heard her aunt Belinda screeching from what sounded like the downstairs hall way, she was clearly trying to bring her husband in on the excitement which with the dead silence on his part clearly hadn't worked.

As the footsteps thundered up the staircase Nathara had a sinking feeling in her stomach "oh please no" She thought to herself just as her aunt burst through her bedroom door.

"Nathara its here, its your Hogwarts Letter" she proudly stated while shoving the letter into Nathara's hands.

Nathara smiled to her aunt half heartedly, she knew her family were so proud that she was going to Hogwarts but she was not, she lived in the muggle world since she was a baby, she had muggle friends and enjoyed her muggle school. Had her parents not died while working for the ministry of magic then she would have been raised in the wizarding world and maybe then she would have felt different.

As Nathara stepped into the great hall surrounded by the other first years she felt slightly overwhelmed, the sound of chatter and the faces of the older students staring over at the group in wonder, the flickering light of the candles floating overhead. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest as one by one the other first years got sorted into there houses, she knew what house she wanted to be in, the same house as her mother of course. Her father was a Slytherin just like his brothers and parents and every generation before them but her mother was a Hufflepuff and that where she knew she would feel at home, even although she didn't want to be in Hogwarts at all, she wished she would go to a muggle high school with her muggle friends but as she was here she would only be content in Hufflepuff.

As the sorting hat was placed on her head she could feel her pulse racing, her nerves were getting the better of her.

"hmmm, nervous are we" the hat spoke loud and clear "I see we have another Regius, hmmm could be a Slytherin like your father but I think not" Nathara let out a sigh of relief before the hat continued " You have the ambition of a Slytherin but the Loyalty of a Hufflepuff but the main thing i can see is your bravery, sense of adventure and love for your friends"

"GRYFFINDOR" the word pierced her like a knife.

She stepped down and headed towards the Gryffindor table, everyone was chearing and smiling as she tried to fight back the tears stinging her eyes. The rest of the sorting ceremony went by like a daze. As they headed to the Gryffindor common room "it could be worse" she thought to herself trying to convince herself that it was ok. She smiled at the other first years and tried to make small talk but she couldn't help wondering how her friends first day of school went back in the muggle world.

As Juni stepped off the train and caught his first glimpse of the majestic Hogwarts castle, he couldn't help but be awestruck by its sheer size and beauty. He thought nothing could surprise him further, but oh dear how wrong was she. As he made his way through the massive castle doors, he found himself utterly astonished once again.

The grand hall stretched out before him, its towering ceilings adorned with floating candles that illuminated the room with a warm and magical glow. Long tables filled with students and staff were lined up, and at the head of the hall, there was an elegant display of house banners, creating an atmosphere that transported Juni back in time, as if he had stepped into a medieval castle.

Lost in the grandeur of it all, Juni was suddenly brought back to reality by a voice calling his name, "Juni von Herbstwind!" Startled, he looked around to see where the voice had come from. It was the Sorting Hat perched on a stool at the front of the hall. Juni walked nervously toward the front, his heart pounding with excitement and a hint of apprehension.

As the Sorting Hat was placed upon Juni's head, it whispered ancient secrets into his ear. Moments felt like an eternity as the entire hall held its breath in anticipation. Finally, the Sorting Hat announced, "Gryffindor!"

Juni felt a mixture of emotions. While he was thrilled to have been accepted into the school, he couldn't help but feel a slight disappointment. Why? Because he had always favoured the colour green, and Gryffindor's colours were red and gold. But he quickly pushed those thoughts aside, realising that the magical education was what truly mattered.

A smile spread across Juni's face as he pictured the endless opportunities to explore the mysterious and magical world that lay within the walls of Hogwarts. He couldn't wait to delve into his studies, make new friends, and embark on thrilling adventures that would shape him into the wizard he aspired to be.
