Demo's Name, but in orange font + turtles
21 August
At the tall tower's laugh, Demo did not naturally reciprocate or mimic the expression. Whats so funny? There was nothing funny about an observation. But he knew by now that laughter was usually associated with positive leaning feelings... SOMETIMES! But after blankly staring (and pointing still) at the blue man, Demo felt more confident in thinking this man's emotion was positive leaning. Which IS what he could understand.

" BOTH! You're so.. soo.. so.. functional!" The grin that followed by his 'compliment'. Much similar to when one might call something beautiful. But as beauty wasn't a comprehensible mechanic in Demo's brain, the closest thing to it was it's usefulness. Demo rarely seen someone commit to a colour so obviously, and brightly at that. He himself, pretty much only had orange this orange that, with a particular shade of 2 different grey's. This man was like a highlighter, he likes it. " You're like a highlighter. I like it!". Oh, well- another day another instance where Demo couldn't separate inside thoughts from being verbally expressed.

" YES! Okay!" He readily agreed to sit with the highlighter man. Stranger danger completely an unfathomable concept. Well this man can't kidnap him, not with the bright colour palette he seems to show so vividly.

He would proceed to follow wherever the blue highlighter (kit) went, sitting down if he did. One thing for certain, he was now the highlighter man's barnacle. Stubbornly not leaving until he was scrapped off.

His eyes zoned in on the '333' number on his shirt that made him gasp audibly. " Is that your name???? Three three three??".

Possibly unfamiliar looking to those who knew him. 'He' felt like being perceived as a 'she' today. Using the power of spells, potions and make-up, Hanako dressed far more feminine than his usual. His clothes were the usual he wore on the weekends when it was hot, but what most may notice is his voice that completely changed, much more softer - lighter. The make-up he wore intentionally did it's attempt to hide his sharper lines, and softening his features greatly. His hair that was usually jet black, was now a warm auburn colour, with bangs covering most of his forehead - unlike his usual hairstyle. Though his face, hair, and voice has changed, those who really take a close look may recognize him. Maybe. (No need to owl me if you want your character to recognise him, so long as its within reason)

Okay fine, she admitted she didn't truly secure the cap on his head. There was a pretty way to wear caps, people! And Hanako felt like as long as it protected her from the evil rays of UV, then that was enough. Apparently the winds didn't agree with her. A sliver of parseltongue escaped her lips. Though most didn't know what it meant, evidently it had to be some sort of curse word judging by her expression.

F*ck it! It's fine! Hot girls don't run after flying caps! They wait for conveniently attractive guys to pick it up for them. Which was exactly the reasoning Hanako gave herself as her eyes turned away from the flying cap. But before she could even do much, a blurry of bright blonde hair just swooshed up, their hands swiping Hanako's almost forgotten cap.

Hanako blinked, processing what just happened. It wasn't until the toddler handed her the cap. She gently took it, as if not believing what just happened. Once she did, an unexpected giggle escaped her. " My knight in shining armor" she playfully teased with a lighthearted tone as she placed the cap back on. " Thank you~, I thought I was never going to see this thing again. That was quite the jump you made. You could've injured yourself you know. How can I repay you back for this kindness?"

Sara dresses plainly, though under the summer heat - the black jacket he usually wears are off. Often tied around his waist instead. Showing an uncomfortable (for him) amount of skin. Nevermind it was just a white cotton seamless shirt. The regular one people wear in all sorts of occasions.

He wears no caps to shield him from the sun. Seemingly used to it more than some.

The only sun protection he has is the sunglasses on his face. Which- unless implied - generally rests on the top of his hair.

When Ginyami went so far as to kneel beside him to scan if he was okay, Sara's heart did a big leap. This was... a little embarrassing. They were together again, and even lived in the same house now - yet Sara can never really predict when his body reacts to whatever mundane and normal things Ginyami did as if he was still the 15 year old boy silently and secretly pining over his close friend and calling it just a deep friendship. It may also be the reminder that they were here now, being able to actively spent time together. " I'm fine, really" he says with a fondness he couldn't quite shake off. Charmed. When reaching to hold Ginyami's hand, Sara didn't make the same mistake twice and didn't let it go even when he was able to stabilise his stance once again. " Hm.. maybe.. a little nauseous. Definitely a lot .. faster than a broom. But .. I think I just need to walk around a bit, I'll be fine". His thumb did a quick sweep across Ginyami's fingers if he was allowed to keep holding his hand. " I can't imagine doing this almost every day though... does it not have any side effects for you since.. you use it so often?" his eyebrows furrowed, concerned.

" Um.. oh hey .. they look like they're handing out snacks. There might be popsicles.. want to grab some before we sit down?"

"Whatcha writing?"

Jack was jerked out of his racing thoughts by an unexpectedly young and unfamiliar voice. Blinking, he turned to look at the boy next to him, estimating him to be around a first year's age or so, and noticed that the kid had turned in his seat, focusing more of his attention on Jack and his writing than the quidditch game. That was odd. Was he bored?

From what else he continued to say, it certainly sounded that way. Evidently, he had been writing the notes Jack's quill had been jotting down. Not just that, but the kid had been trying to deduce why he was writing what he was. The redhead couldn't help but grin.

"How do I know you aren't the spy?" Jack asked teasingly, though he didn't bother to grab his quill or move his notepad out of the kid's view. "You seem more interested in what I'm doing than the game. Not that I can blame you," he sighed. "I'm writing because I'm a news aide and it's part of my job to cover stories about events like this. Trust me, being a quidditch player again is the last thing I'd wanna be." He turned partway in his seat to address the boy similar to how the boy had turned to him. "What about you? You trying to be a detective or a quidditch player recruiter or something? You don't seem very interested in the actual game going on."

At the question of whether or not he had spelled the name 'Evelynn' right, his grin grew broader. "Clever way to correct someone," he noted. "Asking them if something is right in a question form. That way you don't lose face if you're wrong, but you can still draw someone's attention to something if you think they might be. But yeah, don't worry. I went to school with this Evelynn, so I'm pretty sure that's how she spelled her name." He remembered a little too well how she'd kicked his and his team's asses during their last duel, too.

Okay, so maybe he was getting distracted from his job after all, but it was a welcome distraction. Hanako and potentially Percival had destroyed his concentration for the most part anyway. And since they were probably paying better attention to the game than he was, he could just press them for more information on it later regarding what he missed if he needed to. Just then, he was far more interested in the curious, question-filled kid before him.

"How do I know you aren't the spy?"

Jeremy grinned, as much at the teasing tone in the older boy's voice than anything else. And cause it really DID make sense. He was the one actually sneaking a peek over somebody's shoulder after all, so that did kinda make him the more likely spy of the two of them. He spread his knees wider and leaned forward, propping himself up on his hands, because the boy was already more fun than watching the game.

"That's 'cause it's soooo boring," Jeremy sighed, slumping dramatically. โ€œNo, I'm not a detective. But that sounds a lot more fun. I just saw you writing stuff and I wanted to know what it said. I think this game's been going on for like an hour.โ€ That was not close to true, but that was what it felt like.

โ€œOoh, a news aide? Do ya wish that you could write about more interesting stuff?" Jeremy asked, dead serious, no hint of mocking in his tone. "Sorry you gotta watch Quidditch. If you used to play it and you don't wanna anymore, you must hate it even more than me. You do, right? How come you have to write about it anyway? Do people really care about Quidditch games that aren't real teams?โ€ Jeremy didn't really get why they cared about Quidditch games that WERE real teams, but he wasn't about to say that. He was just happy to meet somebody who maybe didn't like Quidditch. He thought EVERYBODY had to like Quidditch, like it was a wizarding rite of passage or something. Even muggles were the same, they just played their ball sports on the ground. He really didn't get why everybody went so crazy about balls. Would more people want to talk about books if they made them rounder?

He had still never answered the boy about why he was here, though. He wished HE knew.

โ€œSee I thought there were gonna be merit points for coming, but then turns out there arenโ€™t. So I came for no reason,โ€ he said, his tone indicating that this was just about the most miserable thing in the world. "But at least it's not my job."

He slid a little bit closer, as the news aide pointed out that he had corrected him with a question, meaning he couldn't really be wrong. Jeremy hadn't thought about it that way. He wanted to say that he hadn't meant to do that, but then... he wasn't actually sure. Anyway, it turned out that he was wrong, but Jeremy was still a little suspicious.

The younger boy put a hand to his chin. "Well was she a good speller?" he asked skeptically, just in case, cause he had gone to school with other kids before, and one thing he knew about them was a lot of them couldn't spell Quidditch if you paid them fifty galleons.

โ€œWhy'd you wanna be a news aide? Is it 'cause you wanna work for the Daily Prophet? What stuff do you wanna write about? I read the news sometimes, you know,โ€ Jeremy pointed out, feeling pretty mature to say it, though the pride with which he announced it might have taken away from it slightly.

One of the downsides of telling bald-faced lies is, once discovered, it never works as well. Jo had learned that lesson early, which had led her to adopt the strategy of owning up most of her wrongdoings as soon as she was confronted. It led to a lot of time spent grounded, but it did mean that her parents often were quick to believe her, when whatever trouble she was trying to get into into relied on a lie being believed. It seemed Alfie had not learned that lesson yet.

His confession started off well-enough. There was no reason to doubt that he was from Holyhead, given how the lad practically exuded Welshness with every other sentence (or his bizarre reaction when Jo had mentioned the Harpies), but then it veered into the slightly incongruent. And Jo was already in a skeptical mood.

"Well, you kinda did embarrass yourself, didn't you?" Jo said drily. After all, there were few things more embarrassing than being caught lying. And he just kept digging himself further into the hole. Jo rolled her eyes. She would've found his tragic little story less annoying if Alfie wasn't sounding so bludgering earnest. It was grating.

"Oh, come off it, Aflie. They didn't approve of Quidditch, but you know about muggle sports?" This was a boy who had been utterly unprepared for the sheer idea of bludgers and what they could do. Jo could maybe conjure up a scenario where a disaffected young wizard, barred from learning about Quidditch, snuck off to the nearby muggle village to watch them play. But wouldn't such an enterprising wizard just ask other kids about Quidditch, or sneak a listen to a match on the wireless, or just read about it in a book or the Daily Prophet match recaps? Unless Alfie was part of a cult that just refused any contact with the magical world whatsoever, Jo didn't think that was likely.

"And you had never met another wizarding kid until just recently? Oh no." Jo was momentarily distracted from her point by the noise around them as the Nebula team scored for a second time in a few minutes. It seemed Alfie and her had picked wrong. She shook it off quickly, and turned a hard stare on Alfie.

"I'm not stupid. There's gotta be more to the story than that. My parents don't approve of me doing loads of stuff and it hasn't stopped me learning about it." Where there was a will and whatnot, as her granda liked saying.

I listened to Diana explain everything about Hogwarts occasionally noding along. Her advice about getting lost made me smile a little. I had a feeling I would probably get lost more than once.

The match suddenly became much more chaotic.

Players were flying everywhere people were cheering and I found myself constantly looking from one side of the pitch to another so I would nt miss anything.

When Aaron asked what happened when someone was knocked from their broom I looked at him for a moment.

"I don't think they usually die" I said trying not to laugh. "At least I hope not."

I turned back towards the pitch.

The two of them continued talking about the different positions and sports and I quietly listened.

They seemed to have so much to say to each other.

I took another sip of my Butterbeer and slowly shifted my attention towards the match. I did not want to interrupt them. They were both Ravenclaws too and since they shared a cabin they probably had plenty to talk about already.

For some reason I suddenly felt like I was sitting slightl outside their conversation.

It was silly.

Diana was my friend and Aaron was my friend too. There was no reason for me to feel awkward.

Still I found myself becoming quieter.

I watched Aaron and Diana exchange thoughts about quidditch while I pretended to be completely focused on he players.

Maybe they were simply closer because they had spent more time together during the camp.

That was all.

I took another sip and leaned against the seat.

Then Diana mentioned that she was still interested in becoming a Seeker.

I smiled faintly.

"I think you'd make a good one."

It was the first thing I'd said in a while.

Another player suddenly flew past us and the crowd erupted into cheers. I immediately looked towards the pitch.

The match was getting more exciting by the minute.

I found myself wishing I could fly like them someday.

Maybe I would try Quidditch at Hogwarts.

Maybe Broom Racing.

Or maybe I would just watch from the stands.

I glanced at Aaron and Diana for only a moment before looking away again.

They were still talking.

I quietly took another sip of my Butterbeer and reminded myself that I did not need to force myself into every conversation.

I could simply enjoy the match.

And that was exactly what I planed to do.

Alfie thought heโ€™d done a rather good job of it all things considered. Even as @Josephine Byrne began to express her skepticism, Alfie knew immediately how he would counter. It should be easy since his mother really wouldnโ€™t approve of quidditch. She didnโ€™t even approve of rugby. Alfie would lean in to that. And as for a wizard kid knowing about muggle sports, he felt certain that he could explain that knowledge. Wizard families often lived in or near muggle communities or so heโ€™d been told. Learning about non-magical sport was certainly feasible.

It was only when Jo repeated what Alfie had said about meeting other wizarding kids for the first time that Alfie knew he had screwed up. There was really no cover for that mistake and the realization that he couldnโ€™t spin it was already apparent in his expression.

โ€œWell, yeah,โ€ he said slowly, his mind racing, โ€œof course, thereโ€™s more to the story.โ€ How much more Alfie was still deciding.

Alfie was torn between giving Jo the same story heโ€™d given @Jeremy Slater (His mother was a squib from a prominent magical family) or telling Jo the complete and absolute unvarnished truth. Jo was far more perceptive than Jeremy was. She was far more likely to catch some tiny inconsistency in Alfie's story. And if Jo caught Alfie in more lies, he might as well kiss any friendship with her goodbye, as well as any relationships with each and every person Jo saw fit to expose Alfie to. Knowing Jo, as he was beginning to, that was probably everyone she knew now or ever would know. Basically, Alfie would be the next amateur liar of Hogwarts. He might as well say goodbye to all hope of ever being popular and well-liked.

โ€œThe government figures I have magic on both sides," Alfie told her, "but youโ€™re right, I never knew about it until recently.โ€ So far, so good. One hundred percent truthful. โ€œMy motherโ€™s mother is a Wynne-Lloyd, donโ€™t know if youโ€™ve heard of them, but in Wales they have a reputation for magic even among muggles.โ€ Also true. Not that the reputation was credible, but it did exist. Even Alfieโ€™s grandmother hadnโ€™t completely believed it until after the first visit from the Ministry. Her family wrote her off as senile when she tried to explain it to them. โ€œNot that most muggles believe that sort of thing,โ€ Alfie added (because he figured he'd have to.) โ€œI didnโ€™t believe it. Not even when the evidence was as plain as the nose on my face.โ€ He touched his nose again, just to be sure it wasnโ€™t growing. It wasnโ€™t. He was actually telling the truth. So far anyway.

โ€œApparently, thereโ€™s a long line of magic in my family tree, but not in my immediate branch.โ€ Less true. Well, possibly true. Not at all substantiated. Feasible though. Itโ€™s not like Alfie knew every second or third cousin. โ€œAnyway, my grandmother is dead now so itโ€™s not like I can ask her.โ€

โ€œThe metamorph stuff comes from my dad,โ€ Alfie continued. โ€œHeโ€™s more of a mystery. My parentโ€™s never married you see.โ€ True. Well, at least the ministry liaisons said they thought the metamorph stuff came from him. Hard to say since no one knew his full name. But was Alfie going to admit that? Not likely.

โ€œThey couldnโ€™t get married, because of the sort of work my dad does,โ€ Alfie said. He lowered his voice. โ€œIโ€™m not really supposed to talk about it. Heโ€™s always traveling and canโ€™t always tell me where he is. He never told me about the magic, but thereโ€™s a lot he canโ€™t tell me. Now that I know, it explains a lot.โ€ Was any of this true? Who knows? The truth about Alfieโ€™s father could be virtually anything. Well, except for the part where Alfieโ€™s father had ever spoken to Alfie. That part was certainly a lie. Alfie had yet to meet his father who had no idea that Alfie even existed.

Alumni Quidditch Spectators errand
"I know, right?" the news aide sighed. "The most excitement that happens in this game is usually when people get hurt or cheat. And almost none of it seems to matter except for catching the snitch. I wonder what people like so much about it all." He looked over what his quill had written so far. He'd been listing down the names of the players and what he knew of them, such as what houses they had previously been part of while attending Hogwarts and what graduating year they were; if they were his year or older. He also had a few quidditch-related notes like how the alumni were doing in the game, but he had gotten most of that information from the quidditch game commentator rather than from paying close attention to the game himself.

"That's certainly what it feels like," Jack muttered in response to the kid's comment about the game having been going on for an hour. "At the very least, I hope it finishes today. That's another annoying thing about these games; you never know when they're going to end." He smirked as he turned back to regard the brunet boy. "I'm Burnett, by the way." He offered a hand in case the boy wanted to shake. "Former Slytherin. Do you have a house yet?"

When his new conversation partner asked him if he wished he could write about more interesting stuff, Jack nodded. "Usually I get to, actually. And this isn't so bad since at least I get to visit people and places I missed. I'm just not interested in the actual game itself. No more than you are, it seems." He really liked this kid and his inquisitive nature as well as his deductive skills. Jack might have just met him, but he was willing to bet that the boy was in or would be put in Ravenclaw. Assuming he was or was going to attend Hogwarts, of course. There was also the chance the kid could have been visiting from one of the international schools, though he highly doubted it.

"Yeeeeah," Jack admitted with another sigh when the young lad commented that he must have hated it; perhaps even more than him. "But I have to write about it because it's a major event happening in the magical world in present times while involving one of the most if not the most prestigious magical school in all of Great Britain. Hogwarts, its students, and its alumni are all big deals to the magical community. So a lot of people want to read about them even if those people don't particularly enjoy quidditch or if they usually prefer to watch games featuring real teams," the redhead explained shrugging. "Those are the only reasons I can think of, anyway."

The talkative young man fell silent when his companion began to answer his own question regarding why he had come to the game. Jack fell sorry for the poor kid, conveying his sympathy with a pitying smile. "Well, I'm glad you came and didn't leave too quickly or else I wouldn't have gotten to meet or have someone so interesting to chat with," Jack told him with a grateful grin. "Thanks for giving me a reason to stay awake. My job may not be sunshine and rainbows all the time, but it definitely has its highlights that make it worth it, like getting the chance to meet and talk with you. I doubt I would have been able to otherwise."

The inquiry as to whether or not Evelynn was a good speller caught Jack off guard and he paused, blinking for a moment before laughing light-heartedly. "I would say so! Especially when it came to her own name! If you want to know why it has two 'n's' at the end instead of just one, that's something that's probably best asked of the ones who named her. Luckily, names can be spelled all kinds of weird ways and still be considered officially right if the person bestowing the name said so."

As if the first question hadn't been surprising enough, the question about why he wanted to be a news aide astonished the Welsh teen even more. "Oh...well, to be honest, I really like history and learning about current events, which is basically history in the making," Jack confessed with a sheepish smile as he scratched his head. "So I thought being a news aide would give me an excuse to find out about all the biggest and most current events as soon as I can; hopefully before most other people so I can find more information out first-hand and separate facts from opinions and rumors. I guess my real dream job is to be an information broker and give information of all kinds to anyone who might need it, but I have to start somewhere, you know? And what better way to gather relevant and in-demand information than as a news aide?"

His thick brows shot up when the brunet boy mentioned that he read the news sometimes. "You do? That's impressive; especially for someone your age. You probably have a better idea of what's going on in the magical world than any of your peers; especially if you keep that up. But what about you? Do you have any interests you think might lead to dream jobs once you graduate?"

Alumni Quidditch Spectators errand
โ€œThatโ€™s what I said!!โ€ Jeremy blurted out, thrusting his arms enthusiastically. There was not much sweeter than having somebody finally agree with you, and having it be an older person, somebody that didnโ€™t even go to school anymore, only made it that much sweeter. Jeremy had found that people agreeing with him seemed to have nothing to do with how right he felt he was, because he felt like he was right most of the time, but people agreed with him far less than that.

โ€You wait and wait and wait and they fly around and do a whole bunch of stuff that doesnโ€™t matter, and it goes on and on and on til they FINALLY catch the snitch and you can finally go home. Why do they even bother having all the other people up there? Or why donโ€™t they let them all try and catch the snitch, so it can end faster? But my Mum and Dad love it and my sister loves it, and my aunt loves it and everybody loves it, and nobody can explain to me why.โ€ he huffed, his passionate rant perhaps distracting to those around them, but it just felt so great to have somebody say the same things as him for the first time; it felt like breathing for the first time after being underwater for too long. Despite the outburst of what seemed like anger, the boy slumped down in the most relaxed pose heโ€™d had since heโ€™d got here. It felt good to get that off his chest.

โ€œIโ€™m Jeremy Slater,โ€ he announced clearly, stuck his smaller hand out, and for the first time gave a hand-shake that he actually WANTED to give, instead of one that his mum and dad made him. He did it with a bit of pride at his own manners, and perhaps at being treated like an equal by the much older boy. He did however, make the tiniest of sour faces at Slytherin. โ€œNo, I donโ€™t have a house yet, Iโ€™m eleven years old, and Iโ€™m going to be a first-year. I know what I want to be, I want to be a Ravenclaw and I really hope I I can be one, but my whole family is Slytherin like youโ€ฆ I tried to find somebody that could put in a good word for me with the sorting hat, but nobody said that they would, he sighed. So unfair.

โ€But is it really major? Jeremy asked, knowing it sounded a bit rude, but he'd been emboldened by all the other stuff theyโ€™d already agreed on. โ€Itโ€™s not like it means anything. I mean, itโ€™s not like they could beat a real team, or win the world cup or anything, itโ€™s just for fun, so who cares who wins? There must be a lot of more important stuff happening today than this isnโ€™t there?โ€ he asked.

But when Burnett smiled at him, and told him that he wouldnโ€™t have got to meet someone so interesting to chat with if he hadnโ€™t come, suddenly Jeremy didnโ€™t mind so much having come to the game. His face brightened a bit at the recognition, and the younger boy didnโ€™t yet have the poker face to hide it, nor the way his voice got slightly faster and more excited after hearing it. โ€Thanks, youโ€™re interesting too!โ€ he said, leaning forward a bit. โ€I guess then Iโ€™m happy I came tooโ€ฆโ€ he said, a bit shyly. โ€My mum would never let me talk during a Quidditch game and not pay attention, and certainly not to a stranger. Sometimes I read when Iโ€™m allowed, though.โ€

Burnett told him some other things too, like that Evelynn did know how to spell her own name, that there WAS no right way to spell names (โ€But that doesnโ€™t make sense!โ€ Jeremy complained. โ€There should be a right way to spell thingsโ€.), but most interestingly he told him about why he writes for the news, or as he called it, history in the making.

Jer had never thought of that before. Current events were โ€˜history in the makingโ€™.

โ€Hmmโ€ฆ.โ€ Jeremy said, and for the first time he turned back the right way on his bench, staring off at the Quidditch game, though he wasnโ€™t paying any attention to that. Instead he put his hand on his chin and rested his elbow on his knee and thought about what Burnett had said about history.

โ€So youโ€™re gonna know historyโ€ฆbefore itโ€™s even history,โ€ Jeremy said, still turning the words over in his head. โ€Thatโ€™s interesting. I never thought of it like that. I like reading about history a lot more than โ€˜nowโ€™ stuff, but I never thought about how whatโ€™s happening now is history too, just not yet. So youโ€™re like the first person learning history..." he said with obvious admiration. That did make Burnett's job sound really cool, even if he had to start by watching Quidditch.

"I like history and learning too, I guess that's why I like reading a lot. Not about Quidditch, thatโ€™s boring, but about a lot of other stuff. Well I like stories too, I like all kinds of books, but history is kinda like a story, just one that really happened. Hey, wait, does that mean I can read stuff YOU wrote in the paper? And when you give information, can I have some?โ€ Jeremyโ€™s face flushed with pride when Burnett told him it was impressive that he read the news, but of course, he probably shouldnโ€™t tell Burnett that he only did it sometimes, and sometimes he had to try to read it three times before he could get through it.

โ€œDo you have any interests you think might lead to dream jobs once you graduate?"

โ€I umโ€ฆno.โ€ Jer mumbled, feeling a little embarrassed about it. People were always asking him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He always shrugged his shoulders and tried to wiggle away. But maybe now that he was eleven and three months, practically a teenager, he should probably have an answer. โ€I donโ€™t really think about jobs...โ€ he admitted.
