Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Obnoxiously Strong
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):

Many young witches and wizards spent their childhood running through the backyard pretending that sticks were wands or learning wizard chess. Miles spent much of his childhood in the wilderness. As a child of two famous magizoologists who traveled the world, his early memories are spent hiking through forests and mountains to discover the magical creatures that dwelled there and as he got older he was expected to help carry equipment and supplies. There was often difficult terrain to navigate while doing so. This led to stronger legs and endurance and increased strength.

In helping care for the large magical creatures, he was often tasks with feeding and that involved carrying around large sacks of food. Sometimes he had to help assist in the rescuing of a large creature or help restrain an injured one. This all helped to build his strength.

That became ingrained in him as he got older. Miles realized that he sought out the wilderness because it was where he felt most at home. So even at Ilvermorny School of Magic he found himself often taken long hikes around the school grounds, exploring the nearby forests, sand spending hours outdoors observing. His body naturally stayed conditions because he was always moving. Morning runs became routine, strengthening his legs more.

All that has given him much strength. He can easily help carry someone's bag, climb trees or rocky areas with ease, he can help pull someone up a slope and he set up a campsite with no problem without assisted magic. He never trained to be strong - it was something that the wilderness had given him.

His appearance doesn't show his strength the way it might in a bodybuilder, someone who has lifted weights and trained for strength. No, one would never describe him as huge or intimidating. But he is lean and it's easy to see that he's toned from constant movement and has strong hands. He's got a high endurance for tasks.

And it really shows when he's out on the quidditch pitch. A beater needs to hit hard, to have power and send that bludger flying at dangerous speeds. His strength helps him with just that.

And it will continue to help him for years to come as he continues those hikes, keeps camping, discovers the wondrous world of nature He'll continue to use that strength as he sets up his own home after graduation and builds his own magical conservatory for studying plants.

Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):

Somewhere upon a mountain or deep within a forest, Miles learned the great importance of understanding movement, momentum, and force at an early age. As the son of two famous magizoologists, he often traveled the globe with them - traveling to places that one could only dream of seeing with their own eyes. Places that were remote and one could only get there by foot - expeditions, one might say. One had to learn how to move their body, how to shift their weight, how a single moment of impact could change everything and make the journey difficult or even dangerous.

They would help him assist in handling large magical creatures. Miles learned that even the gentlest off creatures could have great strength and in return that his strength needed to be strength with control. Strength without control could harm an animal and he brougth that understanding to when he explored nature.

And he needed that control because he did have great strength. He had always been stronger than most his age. It came as he explored the wilderness in hisyouth. H eha d powerful shoulders that could help carry and set up equipment, he could help assist with the care of a magical creature, and he spent so much time outdoors. His morning runs and camping trips at Ilvermorny helped build endurance, practice balance, and he sharpened his instincts and reaction time.

This all helped him to become a dangerous beater. It wasn't just his strength. Yes, a beater needed to wack the bludger hard but control was also important. The most effective bludger wasn't always the hardest hit, but the one that was sent at the right time, at the right angle and hit at exactly the intended target.

All the years of seeing magical creatures move and needing to predict their movements helped him anticipate a player's path, estimate their momentum, and recognize any weak point the player might have. Precision, power, control.

One day he found himself at practice with his fellow Thunderbirds. The bludger came toward him at an angle but Miles didn't avoid it. He took his bat and swing, meeting it head on, and sent the bludger speeding down the length of the pitch. Moments later, one of his fellow teammates was swerving around on their broom that was now splintered and it gave out beneath them. Miles stared in surprised as did the rest of his teammates.

Stephen has never thought of himself as particularly intuitive. In fact, if asked, he would likely argue that intuition isn't something he relies upon at all. He trusts observation over assumption, preparation over improvisation, and evidence over instinct. To Stephen, the world has never been a collection of random events. Everything has patterns. Everything has variables. Everything has a reason, even if that reason has not yet been identified.

He has never viewed magic as an exception to that belief. Magic is not any longer, as far as he is concerned, the opposite of science. He didn't always feel that way in the beginning. But as the years have passed, he has had to admit he has learned more about his Muggle world from having lived in the magical one. Magic is simply another branch of understanding, another collection of laws and principles that have yet to be fully explained. The magical and Muggle worlds have approached the mysteries of existence differently, developing different methods, different tools, different mentalities, and different ways of interpreting the same universe. To Stephen, the distinction is not between what is magical and what is scientific. The distinction is between what is understood and what remains unexplained.

Years have been spent teaching his mind to recognize order where others often see chaos. Without ever realizing it, he has also been building the perfect architecture for an innate magical aptitude to quietly reveal itself; not by replacing the habits he has worked so hard to develop, but by amplifying them.

And that is how Stephen fundamentally approaches everything. Whether he is studying advanced magical theory, working through his extracurricular Muggle curriculum, analyzing flight mechanics, or preparing for a Quidditch match, his mind naturally searches for the connections between individual pieces. The "how" has always interested him, but the "why" matters just as much, maybe more. Understanding a process allows him to anticipate its outcome. Understanding a system allows him to recognize when something changes.

Quidditch, as one example, has given his mind an environment where that innate ability can constantly develop. After years of drills, practices, scrimmages, and matches, Stephen no longer consciously searches for every variable while flying. Instead, his mind has become more accustomed to recognizing what should happen. The rhythm of a complex maneuver. The habits of an opposing Chaser. The predictable choices made under pressure, or the natural flow of movement across the pitch.

Most of the time, he is simply relying on experience.

He has studied teammates, opponents, formations, and flight patterns until understanding those systems has become second nature to him. He pays attention to the slight shift in balance on a broom before a player changes direction or the familiar movements that precede any number of maneuvers. He has made a habit of noting patterns that repeat often enough to have become reliable.

But sometimes, something does not fit.

A player moves exactly as expected, but the timing is wrong. A maneuver feels familiar, but some small detail does not quite align. A choice is made that should make sense, yet something about it feels inconsistent.

Stephen does not always know what is wrong. He only knows that something is. He simply thinks of it as incomplete information. His mind has always searched for errors in systems. Sometimes it is a misplaced variable or an unintended result. Sometimes it is a conclusion that just doesn't follow where the evidence leads. When something breaks the pattern he has mapped out in his mind, he notices the disruption long before he can explain the reason for it.

That is why more and more lately he often moves before the danger becomes obvious. It is why he sometimes changes course before he can identify what prompted him to do so. That is why an opponent's feint may fail against him, not because he knows what they will do, but because some part of him recognizes that something about their movement seems out of place.

Miles sometimes jokes that Stephen knows what is going to happen before it happens. Stephen does not agree. He believes there is always an explanation. Perhaps he noticed something subtle. Perhaps years of repetition have trained his instincts. Perhaps his mind has become more efficient at processing information than he realizes. He doesn't consider these moments impossible or mysterious. They are simply another example of a problem he hasn't yet completely solved.

The possibility that magic may be involved in all of this does not escape him entirely. Stephen knows magic exists and that he, himself, is magically inclined. He simply does not separate magical explanations from scientific ones. To him, both systems are parts of the same universe, governed by principles waiting to be understood.

What Stephen does not realize, however, is that his years of discipline, observation, and relentless pursuit of understanding have created the perfect conditions for something more than merely exceptional observational skill. His mind has always been built around perceiving patterns hidden within complexity. Yet those same years have slowly cultivated and allowed an innate magical aptitude to begin to express itself in ways Stephen has never stopped to question, quietly amplifying the very abilities he believes he has earned through study, discipline, and experience alone.

Stephen has never sought this ability. He has never considered it as a reason behind anything he has recently been experiencing, let alone practiced it. He has never once spared a thought to there being anything unusual about what he considers his normal state of being to be, which is supremely observant. Why would he? He simply continues doing what he has always done: studying, analyzing, refining, and searching for the underlying order within a world that appears chaotic to everyone else. And somewhere between observation and instinct, between experience and awareness, magic has quietly begun answering him before he has even begun asking the question.

NOTE to Index: This application has been 100% written by a human — me — but when I run it through CopyLeaks, it comes back as 100% AI. I will also note that when run through Quillbot it comes back as 100% human generated. I reported the issue to @Colin McCoire who told me to leave this note with my submission. He, along with other staff, looked it over and are aware of the issue. Their conclusion, as relayed to me, was that it was human written, but looks like AI. The parkour paragraphs seem to be what is triggering the AI. My husband does parkour, so nothing I wrote is unfamiliar to me, in theory at least, as I have never practiced it myself... or ridden a broom.

Stephen once believed that becoming a better flyer meant becoming quicker. He finds that thought amusing now. Speed has its place, obviously, but over the past five years he has come to realize that the best flyers are not simply the fastest. They are the most efficient. They waste little movement, conserve momentum whenever possible, and seem to arrive exactly where they intend to be without ever appearing hurried.

That realization profoundly changed the way Stephen approached his own training. His daily runs still built endurance, just as they always had, and his strength training remained an important part of his routine. Pilates continued to improve his flexibility, balance, and core stability, but in recent years another discipline had quietly become just as influential: Parkour.

To most people, Parkour looked like little more than an exciting way to traverse obstacles. Stephen saw something else entirely though. Every vault, climb, leap, and landing became an exercise in mechanics, both physically and mentally. Most people assume movement begins the moment someone pushes off the ground. Parkour taught him a different lesson. Movement begins with where a person's weight already is. Every shift in balance influences the next movement long before it happens. The realization that momentum is not something to be recovered after a mistake, but is something to preserve from the very beginning, was groundbreaking to him.

The more Stephen studied those principles, the more he recognized them everywhere else. Parkour had taught him that every movement began before the visible motion itself. Momentum, balance, leverage, torque, and timing governed everything whether he was running across rooftops, climbing the Snakewood tree, or flying on his broom. The laws had never changed. Only the way he interacted with them had.

The more he trained, the more he realized that flying was not exempt from the same principles that governed every other form of movement. Momentum remained momentum. Center of gravity remained center of gravity. Timing remained timing. A broom simply translated those principles through a different means of motion. Every unnecessary adjustment cost momentum. Every exaggerated correction introduced another opportunity for error. Smooth flying was not the result of dramatic recoveries. It was the result of making dozens of nearly imperceptible adjustments before those recoveries ever became necessary.

That realization fascinated him. He'd always viewed understanding as the surest path toward improvement. As his studies became more advanced, he found himself thinking about his own body the same way he approached every other complex system. Endurance could be increased. Flexibility could be improved. Balance could be refined. Recovery from awkward positioning could be practiced until it became almost automatic. None of those qualities existed in isolation. Each influenced the others, producing results greater than any single exercise in his regimen could achieve on its own.

His practices gradually began to reflect that philosophy.

In addition to exhaustively running through the same basic drills all Quidditch players ran through, Stephen became more deliberate about changing things up to mimic actual flying mechanics. He challenged himself to recover from unstable positions without sacrificing control. He practiced changing direction while carrying as much of his existing momentum as possible instead of fighting against it. He sought efficiency rather than spectacle, believing that the smallest improvements, repeated thousands of times, would eventually separate an excellent flyer from an exceptional one.

The changes were subtle. He did not suddenly become faster overnight, nor did he expect to. What he subtly began to notice, however, was that flying demanded less conscious correction than it once had. His body seemed to arrive where it needed to be with fewer wasted movements. Sharp maneuvers flowed more naturally into the next, and difficult recoveries became increasingly uncommon because his positioning had improved before recovery was ever required.

Stephen would never describe this as talent. To him, it was simply the predictable result of disciplined practice informed by the deeper understanding of the mechanics behind it. Every hour spent running, every Pilates session, every Parkour climb, every Quidditch practice, and every quiet moment spent thinking about the mechanics of movement had contributed another small refinement. None seemed especially significant on its own, but together they had transformed the way he moved through the air.

Stephen had long ago learned that perfection was never a destination waiting to be reached. He viewed it as the continual pursuit of eliminating unnecessary error. Evasive Maneuvers training had begun years earlier as an effort to compensate for a growing body and a changing center of gravity. Years later it had become something much larger: a philosophy of movement grounded in preparation, efficiency, and the quiet belief that the safest flyer was rarely the one who escaped danger at the last possible moment, but the one who had already positioned himself where danger was least likely to find him in the first place.

Emmeline Harris was a girl of few needs. She was easily pleased, but not ever fooled. She despised trickery most, and seeing her quiet, observant nature, it seemed to people, it was something she would give in to. Rather, it looked like the starchild had developed something of a talent to be able to evade trouble, at least physical trouble.

In her early days as a small and innocent 7 year old–not long after she displayed her first show of magic–duelling caught her attention. At that young age, it was simply the fantasy of using magic. Soon after, it became something about the sport, the feeling, the pressure.

Before her magical ability progressed as far as casting a spell, duelling was a simple game of sticks and stones. Emmeline and her cousins, Julia and Orla, would throw objects around and make it a challenge of not get hit, and hitting the other. Emmeline soon became proficient in dodging, rarely getting hit. Her cousins on the other hand, became masters in accuracy. Soon the girls grew out of the small game, choosing other activities over their version of 'duelling', but thr habit of it never left the girl. From then on, there were few times something was thrown at her and she got hit.

As the rift in her family was created, and Emmeline moved to Washington with her family, duelling and magic were some of the few pleasures she had left in her world. Soon, it became abundantly clear that Emmeline would be attending Ilvermorny. All hope and chance of going to Hogwarts was erased.

Then came summer camp. Before starting her first year at Ilvermorny, Emmeline was allowed to go to that year's camp as a prospective student. She chose to go partly to escape the rigid tension in her house, and partly with the hope to see Julia there. Despite her best attempts to remain stoic, emotions slipped out at times and they were clearly not appreciated. What truly fueled her compassion was when she got the chance to participate in a sport. She signed up for duelling without hesitation not even bothering to consider quidditch or broom racing. She was allowed to learn a few spells, which she managed to master quite easily, and she asked her few friends she'd managed to make, to help her with evading attacks. Her childhood game was once again revived, and Emmeline was relieved to see her quick footwork and smooth evasion hadn't been forgotten.

Summer camp passed, she saw Julia, played around with her friends, and of course, dueled. The results were certainly unexpected, but she felt different. There was no more hesitation, or the slightly late reaction when evading a spell. It somehow felt easier, simpler, like a habit.

While she was in the last 3 months of her 1st year Shiori faced a dry spell when it came to motivation. For someone who used to pride herself by being rather excellent at academics, Shiori’s second year was disastrous.

Having come from tragedy after tragedy related to magic, Shiori was beginning to doubt the eagerness she felt towards school. It felt like she was wasting the potential magic had. As her peers got stronger, and as she realized that even her own cousin was more in tune with the magical arts than her, Shiori had begun to doubt everything she knew about her capabilities.

The lack of motivation affected everything –– from not having the focus to listen to classes, to her spells always finding a way to backfire or swerve and land somewhere they weren’t supposed to. The situation had gotten so bad at a point that Shiori had to sit back from Quidditch activities for the year.

And that whole time Shiori couldn’t help but wonder why her magic suddenly wasn’t responding to her the same way it did. It was frustrating, so undeniably frustrating, no matter how many times Shiori would ask to be tutored, nothing worked. It was like her magic was refusing to submit to her will.

Then one day in mid August, amidst finishing up something for Year 2 Herbology, Shiori received a box from her mother, inside was the last few remaining valuables from her uncle Shoto Solace. Shiori was supposed to write it off, throw it in a corner of her room and forget about it, but when Riri had opened the box, amidst fancy candles and quills, she saw a lone book.

The title caught Shiori’s eye, “A comprehensive guide to Magical Medicine.” Without much thought Shiori reached for the book, flipping through its copper pages with intrigue. Then Shiori stopped at a spell that looked easy enough for her try, a simple swoop down into a hook.

So tentatively Shiori reached for her wand, putting the piece of wood up to her face, murmuring a silent plea as if somehow that will make the spell cast perfectly. But as Shiori was drawing the spell and murmuring the incantation, she realized that for once her wand didn't feel heavy in her hands, for once her mind had cleared –– as if every vessel in her body was focused into this spell.

Casting the spell felt like hearing her blood in her veins sway like ocean water on a beach. It felt like waves flowing through her, like the magic was drawing directly from her own body. It was a feeling Shiori had never gotten before, the feeling of her physical body being so utterly intertwined with the magic she was casting.

And as the spell released Shiori realized maybe she was looking for success in the wrong places, maybe healing was her true calling all along.

During the last few months of her second year leading up to the sunmer, Shiori fell into a deep rabbit role of reading up on literature about healing magic. The constant practice helped a fair amount in improving her confidence and building back that bond that she once lost with magic.

The goal was to participate in the Summer games this year and in order to do that Shiori needed to work fast to attain her goal and hopefully not spend another year on the bench. Going into year three, Shiori wanted to learn more than just theories and spells, she wanted to learn how to help people, how to save people, and what better way than on the field.

Quidditch is a sport that has a lot of opportunities for people to get hurt, Shiori knew that, so she wanted to help be a part of the solution. Her devotion to healing magic over the past few months were all in preparation for the summer games.

Pride was something Shiori carried very highly. That’s been true ever since childhood and the petty fights she got into with Asami because Asami doubted her abilities, even at a young age Shiori never wanted people to see her as a burden. When she joined the Quidditch team, she vowed to herself that before she dedicated herself to a sport or to a team, she’s able to pull her own weight.

Shiori had heard horror stories of Mahoutokoro going against other schools with players that might as well be considered beasts. Shiori heard how many people got injured in these matches and she didn't want anybody else to get hurt, not when Mahoutokoro desperately needed a Quidditch win.

So, other than learning healing magic theory, and practicing spells, Shiori had her father teach her first aid. Masato Kaito went to medical school before settling down and devoting himself to a stay at home husband and semi-professional baker.

So with her father’s help, Shiori learned CPR, she learned the Heimlich Maneuver, she learned how to make a splint, how to properly carry people who were injured. Shiori learned bandaging techniques, what to do if someone experienced blunt force trauma to any part of their body.

Shiori practiced all this within the course of 5 months. 5 consecutive months of devoting herself both inside and outside school to medicine and medicinal magic in the hopes that although Shiori wasn’t the most well versed in the battle strategies, Shiori hoped that in some small way, she could contribute with her expertise in healing magic.

Shiori wished she could be hopeful for a nice, relaxing, peaceful summer to commemorate finishing her second year and nearing the statt of her third year in Mahoutokoro, but unfortunately, Shiori had lost hope for peace after finding out that Azzure Ren Suzuki Solace would be staying with her family for the latter half of summer.

Now, Shiori can handle weird. She can handle a hit being put on her aunt and uncle and her whole bloodline being hunted down, what she can’t handle is a whole summer with Ren.

Not even an hour after arriving at their house, Ren Suzuki had found out Shiori’s ever so kind mother, Meiko Suzuki had gifted Ren a broom as a welcome gift, and instead of thanking Meiko and asking to be taught how to fly, she immediately beelined for the yard and took to the skies despite never having flown before in her life. And Shiori stared out the window as karma was quickly served and Ren promptly ate dirt.

But whatever loose screw that girl has up there must have been acting up, because instead of learning her lesson like a normal person, Ren proceeded to get up and try again and again, until by the time she entered the house, she was covered in scratches and bruises.

That was the first day Azzure Ren Solace spent in their house. Never did Shiori think that stupid idiocracy could carry someone so far.

One day when Ren was supposed to go training again, a typhoon hit –– the type of typhoon that made trees sway and branches break. Before the white-haired tornado was able to step out of the house, Shiori stopped her. She gripped Ren’s shoulder her nails digging into Ren’s skin as she shook her head grimly, a silent “Don’t you fucking dare” being conveyed silently through eyes.

But Ren, ever the A+ student, didn’t listen. Ren shoved pass her, murmuring something about testing her limits. Shiori cursed whatever she had done to deserve to be put into this situation. And maybe some of the idiocracy was rubbing off on her too because Shiori despite herself, rushed out into the storm after Ren. As she took off wind battered the rain straight to her face providing little to no visibility as she flew, and to add to that, Ren was fast. So incredibly fast, Shiori wondered if Ren could even see where she was going or if she was just letting emotion take her wherever she felt most safe.

Thunder struck in the distance and the rain grew harder, beating down like pebbles on Shiori’s skin, but Azzure wasn’t stopping, Shiori had no choice but to follow Azzure into the mountainous woods where tall trees narrowed their path and wind caused them to sway.

Shiori knew they had to get back or else it was only going to be a matter of time before one of them got seriously hurt here. The only light among thick trees was the occasional strike of lightning. And then in a split second, it happened. In front of her, Ren’s clothes snagged on a branch causing the thin branch to break and Azzure to hurl downwards.

Pulled by something greater than herself, whether it be concern, or just the fact that Shiori was tired of seeing death and injuries in her family –– Shiori swooped down at a neck-breaking speed, catching Ren by the back of her shirt and hauling her up to ride on the back of Shiori’s broom before Shiori promptly returned Ren to her own ride.

“Let’s go, now isn't the time to be flying around.” Shiori spoke, her voice getting drowned out by the torrential rain pouring down on them.

Ever since that incident, Shiori made it a point to accompany Ren whenever she'd train. And although most of those sessions were filled with Shiori trying to catch up with Ren and her ubcanny ability to fly like a jet plane — perhapse she should be greatful as well because every tine Ren got bold and failed a risky manuver, it was Riri who had to catch her. It got to a point where Shiori had uncinsciously started to fly deliberately lower than Ren ready to catch her just incase. Then Shiori realised that the habit that appears everytime someone else is flying near her, Shiori is always on guard if ever she needs to save someone being a reckless idiot.

Healing sage, and Rapid Revive
(i) content is great, we just need you to change wordings a bit. It seems like Healing sage is a 2nd Year ability, and Rapid Reviver is a 3rd, but as a 3rd year you get 3 abilities - where does the Savior ability come from? Just stating a year Y1/Y2/Y3 and slight word changes would fix this.

Savior
(ii) This seems like a one time thing instead of a long term ability. I suggest giving a short paragraph on if Shiori practiced this more in quidditch practice, or had from then on used the savior ability to save Ren everytime they were reckless - would

Perhaps it was the years spent swimming in the sea that made Eden understand when to dart away from a current, but Eden always had a knack for understanding when danger was near. Her papá dad taught her while she was young that peril lurked in every corner, you just had to understand when to fight it. It was the same story when it came to sailing; a sail trimmed too tight or delaying reefing the main could end up capsizing them.

It was the perfect beach day on school holiday when Eden picked up on it.

It was a beautiful day on the coast of Ecuador, sunny, the breeze blowing just right, and the sand the perfect temperature so it didn’t burn you while walking to the water. They’d gone away from their usual beach, taking a day trip out to Montañita beach. Her aunts from Portugal–Emila and Mae–were in town for a few weeks. Emila had brought her toddler son Matthew as well. Eden sat with him on the cusp of the water, smiling when he giggled as the sea brushed his legs. “Mateusinho,” little Matthew she said to him as he splashed in the water. “One day you will come back to Ecuador when you’re older and we’ll go swimming, certo?” right? After a while, she returned him to his mother and rushed deeper into the ocean to swim.

Even though high waves weren’t very common in Ayangue, Eden kept her eyes peeled as she stepped out into the cool waters. She hadn’t been to Montañita often, after all. The ocean was unpredictable; perhaps that was why she loved it. Her hair was soaking wet within seconds. She floated on her back, staring up at the sky that blended into the blue water.

She kicked her legs back down in the water after a moment, a frown pulling across her face. Something didn’t feel right. She pushed herself to the right, and just in the nick of time. A surfer crashed by her, his board skimming over the water where she’d just been laying.

Her heart fluttered quickly in her chest, relieved she’d sensed the incoming danger in enough time to get out of the way. She breathed heavily, the adrenaline soaking her veins. In that moment, treading water wide-eyed and startled, it occurred to Eden that this wasn’t the first time she’d managed to hop out of danger’s way in the nick of time. There had been days on the boat when she ducked just in time of a sail falling or in the kitchen with her family when she’d grabbed a pan from falling off the counter just in time.

She trudged back to the shore slowly, contemplating if this was just another lucky realization of danger, but Eden didn’t think so. She couldn’t count the number of times she’d managed to evade danger at the best possible second nor could she remember when that tingling feeling of needing to move out of the way showed up. As she joined her family back on the sand, she smiled at the idea that at least her hyperawareness could lend a hand in a Quidditch match.
