Drust would have been a liar if he had said that he was not nervous. Looking around, his gaze would dart from person to person. Each one, different but all of them looked to be around his age. At least, the ones that surrounded him. His breathing was hitched, he had not spoken a word since he had gotten on the Hogwarts Express. Not even when others had tried to make idle conversation with him, he had only stared in shock. Although, this was all rather shocking for the boy who had only recently discovered what Diagon Alley looked like. Years of isolation from actual society made you a little jittery to be sure.

His stomach clenched as the names slowly whittled away to the N's. He didn't want to go next. Nostrils would flare as the air started to leave and enter his lungs rapidly, he felt a bit light headed.

"Noble, Drust."

He almost didn't react, but when someone saw how nervous he was, and nudged him forward he moved. Each step felt heavy, his footsteps falling down upon the small set of stairs, echoing in his mind, ringing in his ears. Dru was certain that he might pass out. He only barely managed to scramble up onto the stool that was set before the entire school. Drust had never been in front of a crowd this large, but he had been raised as a leader, or at least someone who would one day be a leader.

What scared him more than being in front of all these students was that not a single person knew who he was. After years of isolation and pampering like one would a prince, Drust did not understand how it was possible that all of the kids on the train had not known him. Everyone in his family, in his clan knew him. They knew he was the heir, and yet here he was. Without a trace of fame, something about this hurt him deeply. His parents lied, or at least it felt like a lie.

These were thoughts that could not linger long for the world suddenly disappeared, turned dark behind a hat flopping over his head. Covering his eyes and ears entirely. His nose kept the hat from sliding down any further. Drust's knuckles turned white as he gripped the stool with anticipation, with an immense amount of anxiety that riddled his every pore and fiber.

"Noble... Ah, I wasn't expecting for your parents to become a match, but it seems to me that they are quite a good one. Hufflepuff. Ravenclaw. Very good match indeed..."

It was an ancient voice that boomed inside of his head, and he could hear nothing but it. It vibrated his entire body and now he was certain that he might collapse, or vomit.

"Hm...Difficult. You are not a Hufflepuff like your mother, although you are indeed very loyal.. A Ravenclaw might be a decent fit, like your father, but it would not be a perfect fit." The voice contemplated in his head, but then it grew silent as if it had a decision in mind but was only pausing to announce it.

"SLYTHERIN!"

Drust's world felt like it might spin out of control. That was certainly the last house he had ever considered not from its dark history. Yet as the hat rose from his head and revealed the world to him once more, he saw the house clad in green and silver clapping and cheering. Warmth and familial familiarity washed over him like an oceanic wave. Suddenly he wasn't so scared, and with a slight tug at the corner of his lips he stood from the stool and went to the clapping table.

This was it, it was really it, Hogwarts! Grayson was awestruck, he was used to magic around the home but even he was overwhelmed here. At his house the plates would wash themselves, here they just appeared and vanished at will filled with more food than Grayson had ever seen. Not that he had a mind for food, there were more pressing matters to attend to.

Sitting there at the head of the hall on a rickety old stool was a rather shabby looking hat. Still pointed but creased beyond belief it looked almost comical in such an important position but Grayson had already guessed what it was even before it started singing. The Sorting Hat. This was where they would be divided into houses. That hat would go poking around through his head and decide where he’d fit in best, or that’s what his father had told him, it could also just be some cheap trick to make you feel proud of your bedroom, but Grayson liked to believe in the magic of it.

There are a few down sides to being an Abonos, and the alphabet is one of them. He had no opportunity to see others go before him one moment he was staring at the dusty old hat and the next he was sitting beneath it. One of the professors held it above his head and for the briefest moment the world stopped. His pulse quickened and his heart leapt into his chest. Where did he belong? His mother had been a Hufflepuff, they sounded ok, but then again wasn’t their common room supposed to be like a badger den? Grayson wasn’t sure he could cope with that, surely everything would get dirty all the time? A Gryffindor then like his father? There common room sounded nice enough, but then again didn’t he need to be brave for that, he didn’t feel brave right now. He felt small and stupid, sitting in front if the whole school sweating over a damn hat.

As the hat was lowered he screwed up his face in anticipation but he needn’t have worried. The hat had barely touched his head when it blurred out its answer, “Ravenclaw!”

Ravenclaw? Ravenclaw! Really? He really made it into Ravenclaw? Weren’t they the academic house? Wit, wisdom, creativity. Grayson’s heart picked up again. Ravenclaw! It was perfect. He practically leapt off the stool to the cheats of the house, no his house! So it wasn’t were his parents were from, who cared? He was always going to disappoint one of them anyway. This was perfect for him, a real chance to push himself. There was little chance to celebrate however and he was quickly shepherded into an available seat so the next student could take their turn.

Slowly, going with the flow of students. Advancing into the Scottish castle. A place of hundreds of years old. Years of history, years of magic, years of distraught. Indeed, the old location had a lot of history behind its strong and cold back. The Byrne's daughter had made sure to read about it as much as she could while staying at the manor, in Glasgow. Freedom, it has allowed her mind to wander around into the beautiful world of her spirit. A serene place, where peace and calm could be found. A special location where she could run into the garden of thousands of flowers. Colors, only fours could actually resort more strongly than the infinite shades of them. Green, yellow, blue and red. Four colors and four houses. Therefore, the final decision would not be her own. The hat, magical one, would be the great judge. He would place her in the most suiting house. One that would follow her for the next Seventh years.

The hazelnut haired girl was slowly walking with a small group of first years. Their destination was the only possible one. The Great Hall. A mysterious location, candle flying on the ceiling, four long tables ready to welcome each and every one of them. They were all first year. It was the beginning of their journey upon magical grounds. Bailey, was almost at the end of the long line of excited children only waiting to be sorted into one of the prestigious houses. She had heard so many incredible stories about this place that she could not wait for her own.

Advancing toward her unknown destiny, Bailey waited. Patience was one of her virtues and she was used to it. She had waited, waited for her illness to go away, waited to be able to walk again, waited to be able to go to a Muggle school. Some of those, she was still waiting for. Life was not always fair. Sometimes, it could crush you, but other times, it could give you the world. Bailey knew that by studying in this school, she would get a better chance in her own life. She wanted to take control of it again.

Again, she was lost. Lost into the uncertain. Dreams, hopes, it was all she really had. Her condition was not something that could facilitate her chances. She would try. She wanted to reach the world… Bailey slowly went to sit at the front of the room. Ever since her illness, Bailey had some trouble to walk. She could not feel her prosthesis correctly. There was no nerve in it. How could she even be certain that her artificial leg would hit the ground correctly? Would she fall to the ground in front of a thousand of children? She was afraid. Afraid of what others would think if they knew. It was another reason for her to close herself even if she only breathes to the contrary. Her pale eyes were looking around her, she longed to make friends, with each and every child in this room. From a distant ear, she could still hear the young girl rambling about the Hat. She wished no more to speak with her about it, but it was her turn now.

The hat was dropped on her head. Somehow, she felt it wandering around in her spirit. He was analyzing her, exploring her short life, he learned more about her than she knew about herself. Bailey smiled. As the hat sought the information he needed to sort her into a house, the young witch smiled and whispered.

- Mister hat, pst, I have a secret. I really, really love lizards.

After laughing, the hat started speaking to her through her own mind. A private conversation that would have been awkward to the rest of the world if it could have been heard. Once after, he spoke of his clear and mysterious voice. Reaching each ears of the room.

- Such a strange individual that I have here. Ms. Byrne, you are really something. You have quite some ambition, but still, l see the quality of a Ravenclaw. This is, indeed, a hard choice. However, you have a little something that makes me think you won’t be at your place in the raven house… I believe the right place for you is with the snakes! You like lizards don't you? In that sense you shall go to SLYTHERIN!

The Byrne's daughter laughed a little. Her journey would then be similar to her father. A Slytherin journey.

Standing quietly amid the crowd of newcomers, a spindly little boy with dark, curly hair stood. He was thinking to himself. Trying not to plan.

It won't be Slytherin. Mudblood.

Green walled off the thought. No one had ever called him that, never. Nobody knew. Don't concentrate on yourself. Watch the others. Learn. He had missed too many faces, but it wasn't too late to match some to names. He noted expressions, too. Not everyone was happy. Not everyone expected this.

Some of those kept their heads high, holding back disappointment. These were the ones Green admired. The brave ones.

The rug is always going to be pulled out from under you. You control how you fall.

"RAINIER GREEN!"

The order. Fine. Ready.

Strolling out with hands stuffed into his pockets, he set eyes on the hat, sat atop the too-tall stool, blanked out the image of the crowd. Keep your back straight. Keep your face blank. Keep-

You're not Rainier Green.

Green's eyes went wide.

What are you doing here, Daniel? Oh... Oh. I see. What a shame he will not be joining us...

Green's jaw set. He didn't move. Didn't breathe.

Ah, never mind it. Trying a bit of amateur occlumency, mm? Well, you needn't waste the effort on me. You're not the first one to come under my brim with a secret. The real question is where to put you now you're here... you're frightened, very frightened, but as for the houses themselves, you think you've thought this out. Practical choices. Hufflepuff, yes, you'd have an easy time of it there. Friends to support you, warmth, people trying to put some meat on those ribs; and you're a hard enough worker, no doubt of that. But you're not very true. Now, Ravenclaw, that's a bit closer, and it would be a feather in your cap, wouldn't it? Show off how sharp you are, get a chance to be too curious for your own good with people who appreciate that sort of thing. But that's not what you really want, is it, "Green?" Pedigree or no, you're certain of your true colors. And Ravenclaw would be second best.

Green swallowed, shutting his eyes to hide the flash of desire, with deep, unfiltered want. Yes. Slytherin. That was what he wanted.

Of course, it wouldn't be easy for you there, being what you are. Do you really want to keep a lie for seven long years? A secret is a heavy thing to carry around.

I don't care, he willed. I'd rather choke on a chance with strings attached than starve on what I was. And a Green was what he was. What he would be. What he'd make himself. All he needed was a name worth speaking.

Neither a name nor a house equals worth, Daniel. Nor will it get you recognition. I'm a hat, not a recommendation letter. And even if I were, my recommendation won't save you if the wrong people find out the truth. No one lives well when they live a lie.

Then he'd suffer.

I'd go through any hell to keep my name and restore glory to it. No one can stop me. I'm not afraid of them.

His hands were trembling, clenched into fists.

Not afraid? Very well. You've had my warning. But if you're heart's really set on trouble, it'll have to be...

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Green's jaw fell open in outrage. He snapped it shut quickly, tightened, turned. Hopping from the stool, he marched to the designated table.

It didn't matter. It didn't matter. Eat something. Green's eyes roved out over the mountains of food: potatoes. Roast beef. Carrots. Lamb.

His stomach flipped somersaults, but he took a slice of lamb anyway, cutting it into tinier and tinier pieces. He made himself eat.

He would become who he would be.

Lilly-Anne Dean was suddenly snapped out of her daydream by a sharp and loud shout of her name. Lilly realises this the moment she gets sorted. The moment to make her dad really proud of her. Lilly-Anne walks up proudly ignoring the stares and whispers, apparently, people had heard of her father and what caused his death.

Waliking up to the stool, she attempts to clam her nervous by keeping her head clear of thoughts, the stool where the hat sat suddenly became very clear before it was dropped over her head after she sat.

Why hello Lilly-Anne or Should I say, Lillithien-Anne Dean?
Umm hello? replied Lilly, just call me Lilly, she whispered in a small voice.
I see you have had a very tragic childhood after your father's death but I can see you wish to prove your self in the memory of your father and make your mother feel proud of you if only it happened once.

I believe Ravenclaw will suit you nicely-sorting hat

A cold horror feeling ran up Lilly's spine.
No, she muttered, please anywhere but there.
I will not be judge and tormented because I have no friends where Ravenclaws are very interested in a competition where I am not. THry have a thirst for knowingly to earn everything whether or not that needed. I only wish to make my parents proud of me and  I wish to make true and real frauds that will stay around and not leave me. I wish to learn to become the best healer in the magical world for children. I will not be able to accomplish that in the house of the brains plus I want to be in the house of my father
Alright then-Sorting hat
Its.......
SLYTHERIN for you-the sorting hat shouts to the great hall.
Loud clapping from the table of green follows as approval to that statement.

Dale stood up nervously as his name rang out through the Great Hall. The small boy had been transfixed by the sights that surrounded him: Moving portraits, a ceiling that came to life, everyone dressed in robes and black hats. It was all so incredible and intimidating at the same time. He was staring at a translucent figure nearby (Was that a ghost!?) that his name being called out almost didn't register.

Dale approached the Sorting Hat with apprehension. He had overheard conversations about the different Houses on the train. Gryffindor was for the brave, Ravenclaw was for the smart, Hufflepuff was for the loyal, and Slytherin... Well, it seemed Slytherin had a nasty reputation in the Wizarding world. Dale had difficulty following why this was.

The young boy sat down on the still, and the Hat was placed on his head. Suddenly, a voice rang out in his head:

Ah! It seems we have a muggle born here.

Sorry? Is this... Is this the Hat?

And quick to catch on. Let's see, let's see... Where to put you....

Dale swallowed nervously, uncertain how to react to the fact that he was hearing the voice of a supposedly inanimate object. But he had seen some amazing things since his letter showed up. What was a talking hat compared to people who could create fire and light out of nothing?

You have a devotion to those close to you, but I sense a... resentment toward your parents. Interesting. Despite that, I see you still hold yourself to a higher standard than most. An urge to push yourself to be the best. It's unusual for a muggle born, but I know exactly where you will succeed...

SLYTHERIN!

Dale barely registered the fact that the final declaration was out loud instead of in his head before he was being ushered to table filled with wizards and witches clad in green. The table was cheering, but as Dale looked around he noticed the occasional student who simply stared at him. Well, Slytherin does have a reputation, it seems. And the Hat had something about it being an unusual house for a muggle born. He would have to figure out what it all means along the way.

Standing amongst her fellow students, in the most magical place in the whole world, it seemed, Celena should have been ecstatic and alert. Yet, there she was, lifting the sleeve of her leather jacket to write a story on her arm with an ink pen. She cursed herself for packing her hand-sized notebook, and not taking it in the pocket of her jacket. As an aspiring author, she was always writing something, and this time, she was writing a story about-

“Ebonywood, Silvercrest, Celena!”

Celena’s head jerked upward, her eyes wide and filled with emotion, a mixture of anxiety and confusion. Why did the Sorting Hat call her by both of her last names? How did it even know her mother’s maiden name? The heads of her peers suddenly faced her, as she froze in place in shock. Even the heads of the houses seemed to gaze at her with curiosity in their wizened eyes, their conversations coming to a halt so that they could turn their attention towards the young brunette.

She wasn’t sure who did it, but a few awkward moments later, a pair of hands shoved her forward, and out into the middle of the room. Running a hand through her hair and sighing deeply, Celena made her way to the small, sad-looking wooden stool, worn from constant use over many years.

“Ah yes, the child of the Ebonywoods and Silvercrests. Yes, I remember sorting your older sister, Laurelin, was it? She was quite the persistent one, and all she wanted was to be a Slytherin. And your parents, well, that’s a whole other story.”

Her parents! In the stress of the moment, Celena had almost forgotten one of the reasons why she was so enthusiastic about Hogwarts; finding out the truth about her family. Did the Ebonywoods really practice dark magic? Why did everyone love the Silvercrests so much? Before the young girl could think of a question to ask the hat, it began to ramble on about sorting her into her house.

“Oh my I must say, you have quite the unique set of traits. Your mind thrives on creativity and perception of the world around you, yet… no, no, you most definitely would not be a Ravenclaw. You spend far too much time worrying about the problems and troubles of others-and, of course, I don’t mean to suggest that it is a bad way to be, it’s just that, Ravenclaws are set on competition, and you are far too selfless for that. A Hufflepuff perhaps..? Hm… surely not, for you have too much willpower and free-minded spirit. A Slytherin! Just like your sister, Laurelin! Actually, I retract that statement. Laurelin is far more selfish than you are. I suppose that leaves Gryffindor. Yes, Gryffindor! I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of that first! The perfect house for your determination to discover the truth about the legacy that has been left for you. Surely a young lady with those silver and gold eyes such as yours will benefit from a house with a long line of strong magic-users, as I sense you will one day become. Yes… Gryffindor.”

“GRYFFINDOR!”

Gryffindor? Celena doubted that she had the courage to be put in such a house, but when she heard the cheers of her housemates and their arms waving to her, beckoning her towards the table, a grin spread itself across her face. If this is what she had to do to discover who she really was and fulfill the ‘legacy’ that the Sorting Hat had mentioned was left for her, then surely she could find the strength to do so. After all, how hard could fulfilling her destiny be?

Fiona was very nervous. She waited with the other first years, just outside the doors to the Great Hall. The rumble of voices was so loud on the the other side, as all the returning students excitedly caught up with friends. '. . . friends . . .' Fiona thought, '. . . will people like me? What if I don't belong?'

Fiona was definitely not use to having these concerns, with growing up in the middle of nowhere, all she had was family. Before she could dwell on any more worries, the giant doors opened and she was exposed to the magical splendor of the Great Hall. Her eyes widened in delight and her heart lifted as she gazed upwards, past the beautiful floating candles, to the enchanted ceiling that seemed to reach the heavens themselves.

For the first time since her family left Scotland for St Ives, she felt a familiar peace soften her nerves as she remembered the gorgeous star filled nights at the cottage she missed so much. Fiona didn't have much time for reminiscing, for she found herself quickly herded through the hall with the other first years. Glancing around at the four long tables, she uncomfortably felt the pressure of everyone looking at her and the others shuffling closer to the sorting hat.

She knew all about the sorting hat, from her parents, uncle and cousins. Her dad was a Ravenclaw, his brother a Gryffindor. Uncle often teased her dad about being a nerd, always researching everything. Fiona's mother was a Gryffindor, Uncle was the one who introduced her to dad. Then there were Fiona's cousins, they've already graduated. One was Gryffindor of course, the other was an oddball, ending up in Hufflepuff.

As someone spoke, welcoming the students back, Fiona thought back to her 'goodbye dinner' with the family. Uncle and everyone were joking around, talking about taking bets on what house she would be sorted in. Gryffindor was the obvious choice mom and uncle would say. Her dad thought she would make a good Ravenclaw, since she enjoyed reading so much. Fiona didn't have the heart to tell him they were mostly stories and not really anything educational. To be honest, Fiona was sure she would be a horrible student. She hoped she didn't end up in Hufflepuff. Fiona always remembered her one cousin being constantly teased because of it.

"Fiona Collins!" her name rang out through the hall

Fiona caught her breath, how was it time already?!
She nervously made her way to the stool, and sat down, trying not to look too uncomfortable.
'well, well, well . . . another Collins' The sorting hat spoke.
Fiona took a deep breath as the sorting hat continued 'hmm . . . most interesting . . . I see you have many big plans and desires for your future'
She couldn't help but fidget a little, this seemed to be taking longer than she thought.
'yes . . . only one place for one as ambitious as you . . .'

"SLYTHERIN!"

Fiona's heart skipped a beat, her mind went blank

Someone lifted the hat from her head, and ushered her towards a table of cheering students. She sat down in a daze, still not able to process what the sorting hat had called out. 'This can't be right' She thought. 'Slytherin . . .' All her life growing up, Slytherin had never seemed like a possibility. Her parents, her Uncle, her cousins ... they all only had bad things to say about that house. From what she could remember, only bad people were put in Slytherin. 'why . . . I don't . . . I'm not bad' Fiona felt her heart clench as she thought of what might await her.

She looked around the table at smiling faces. 'This house can't be that bad . . . ' She hoped, '. . . I can make this work'

Nothing had prepared Delsin for the awe he felt when he first saw the Hogwarts castle, not the ample descriptions of his father, nor the pictures he saw in books about the history of Hogwarts. After seeing the castle in all its glory, Delsin really thought that he couldn’t be anymore surprised, how wrong was he proven once he entered the dinning room. The roof, showed a beautiful starry night, and although he knew of the magic proprieties of said roof, he didn’t exact it to be so beautiful, it is as if he could both touch the stars if he jumped high enough, but at the same time like he would never come down and Delsin, too amazed to look ahead of him had bumped into a prefect. A small pale haired girl saw the accident and chuckled. Delsin smiled back, blushed and focussed on trying not to do any more foolery in front of potential friends.
The time of the sorting ceremony had come, and Delsin was feeling a feel of both anxiety and excitement. Since his last name was Singer, he would be in the last persons to get sorted. He couldn`t wait to see what house he would be placed in, would it be Hufflepuff for his loyalty and love of fair play, or will the hat see the ambition of the las and put him in Slytherin. The name of Bailey Byrne was called and Delsin recognized the pale haired girl from earlier. He noticed that she had a limp and wondered if she fell like him while trying to get off the boat. She muttered something to the hat and it laughed

-Slytherin!

Delsin was happy, maybe after all he would make friends early on, the only thing that was left was for him to get sorted onto the house too. Several minutes went by until it was Singer`s turn.

-Delsin Singer, please advance.

"Just act cool Delsin, everybody is looking at you and first impressions are important. Head straight and confidence is key" thought the boy to himself, he straitened his back and walked confidently towards the hat.

-This is a hard one, you possess qualities, but also flaws. You seem very impulsive young man, hmm, Slytherin or Hufflepuff? Impartiality is important to you isn’t it? Well Hufflepuff is it then!

Delsin didn’t know whether he was happy or sad of his choice one hand hufflepuff, altough calm, never brought up anything bad from them, wether it is events or wizards. On the other Slytherin was a sure fine way to progress and learn how to deal with all types of individuals. "whatever, I’m sure I’ll have fun anyway."

Crowded together in a small room next to Great Hall Alexander Rhineheart stood shaking among his fellow first years. The ride on the Hogwarts express had been full of fun, joking, and exploding snap, but now he stood separated from his companions after they had shuffled in out of the cold. Alexander was thinking of all he had learned since entering the magical world for something he might use for the test! He had heard several rumors of the sorting each one worse than the last. But he was confident he could do it. His biggest fear of course was standing in front of the entire school, "he could make a fool of himself and it would follow him for the rest of his time in Hogwarts!" he thought. At once he begun to turn and look for his companions until the doors opened and they were summoned into the hall for the sorting.

Falling into line and following the other first years Alexander felt himself to grow hot as he knew hundreds of eyes would soon be upon him, then he saw the Great Hall for the first time. His Aunts and Uncles had described it at times and told stories of the feasts they had had there. But word fell short of the wonder it was. The first thing that struck him was the enchanted ceiling, reflecting the night sky with thousands of stars staring back at them in twilight of late summer. Thousands of floating candles illuminated the hall students, staff and silver shrouded ghosts, and the four banners of the houses of Hogwarts behind the teachers table. The Lion of Gryffindor, the Eagle of Ravenclaw, the Badger of Hufflepuff, and the Serpent of Slytherin, and for a moment he was at ease. The first years were then set into order infront of a small bench on top of which sat an ancient looking wizards hat. Eyebrows raised Alexander concentrated on it mouth agape until a mouth like brim opened up on the hat and it began to sing.

Listening to the sorting hats song Alexanders thoughts soon went back to what was before them, the decision that would decide which house he would be in the next seven years. His mother and many of his aunts, uncles, and cousins on the Macmillan side had been sorted into Hufflepuff. He would be content to join them, though some in his family thought he was sure to be place in Gryffindor after his first display in magic, "A bold boy" they said "A shoe in for Gryffindor". That would be fine as well, he thought. The house of Albus Dumbledore, Hermione Granger, and Harry Potter(though the latter was in disrepute, Alexander didn't believe it).

And so he stood as he watched hid fellow first years be sorted as the sorting hat yelled out their destinations.

"Gryffindor! Ravenclaw! Hufflepuff! Slytherin!" it would shout.

He began to shake slightly again as the name Rhinheart became closer and closer in the order. And finally, his name was called, "Rhineheart, Alexander!" Slowing walking up to the stool Alexander carefully picked up the hat and placed it on his head. The last thing he saw were the thousands of stars staring back at him, as he avoided the stairs of hundreds of students, and a reminder of his first home on the slope of the Alps and of his father. "Hufflepuff or Gryffindor" he thought.

And then he heard a voice clearly, or had he though it?"Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, eh? So sure are you..."

"I suppose?" he answered slowly. The voice did not respond for a time.

"A boldness you have in you, and strength behind your convictions. Gryffindor would suit you well...Not afraid to put your nose into it eh?"

As his Uncle Barlow had thought.

"The willingness to work as well I see, the goals you seek will be achieved through hard work. And a loyalty to ones friends and family has given you strength. Hufflepuff would most likely suit, as your mother..." the hat became silent again for a time...

Alexander grew tenser. The hat had already spent as much time on him as any other student if not longer. It felt like an eternity, but he would not shake. Steadfastly he clung to the side of the stool and waited.

"Well you have a purpose in you it seems, and the choice is only to clear..." the hat finally said. Alexander relaxed his grip on the stool as he awaited the call of Gryffindor of Hufflepuff. A few moments passed and the brim of the hat opened once more, "Slytherin!".

Applause broke out along the green and silver table as Alexander quickly removed the hat and moved to the table with a forced small smile on his face. "Slytherin? He knew he had some distant cousins in the house but was not totally convinced. "Had the sorting hat chosen right? Alexander was just glad to be out of the spotlight of the entire school for the moment. But when he had the older student of Slytherin patting him on the back and welcoming him with handshakes and hugs, he was as happy as was when he was reunited with his magical family after the death of his father. He was home.
