I watch him as he speaks, “Well, I was born in Sweden but I live in South Africa.”
"What an interesting contrast, a hot country from the south and a cold country from the north" I smile, he's interesting.

Then, he spoke up again, cutting my chain of thoughts, “I think my mom and siblings would love you”
Waw. Most people take longer before putting you somewhere in their life, before deciding if you "fit"but he didn’t hesitate. I look up at him as he said that, but then his tone changes, “But my dad on the other hand... he probably wouldn’t even notice you.“Yeah well most people don’t,” I say quietly, carelessly, absent in mind, probably unhearable (is that even a word lmaoo), "He and I don’t have the most perfect relationship."
"Does it affect you a lot?" I asked louder than before.

He zones out, I noticed. I let him travel his own mind before he drifts back apologising. For what? I was not sure, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to burden you with my family problems.”
I glance back at him, sharper this time, more "Tes-like",“You didn’t,” I reply simply. “If I didn’t want to hear it, I wouldn’t be standing here.”
I look back at the floor, fidgeting with my fingers as he finished his drink. There was a small pause before he broke the silence, “You really are something special, Tes.”

That makes me go still. Hopefully not enough for anyone else to notice. But inside I could feel something, a flicker I couldn't name but it's presence alone felt annoying.
He says it like it’s so obvious. I look back up cautiously, as I study him for a second, properly this time, “You say things like that very easily,” I note, tilting my head slightly. I look down at my glass briefly, then back at him.
“People don’t usually call me "special" as a compliment,” I add, quieter now, chuckling to not make this sound like a stupid venting session, which it was absolutely not, “It tends to mean something else.”
I did know that Salim does mean it as a compliment though.

OOC note : All of Pea's word and action are all 100% for the purpose of her character- please don't take anything to heart.
time. Spring
Oh, how time flies now that after years she finally returned to the good for nothing spring ball they keep having even though disaster somehow always happened in these types of events. Because of that, Pea always somehow manages to skip this type of dance, possibly due to past traumas. But today is a little different. Because today, finally, she can proclaim the victory of having succeeded at catching the hearts of two lovely ladies.

She was not completely excited to come here, but it was only because of Ebony and Lottie, that she allowed herself to come. Yes, is it worrisome that they did not know about Pea's scheme of dating both of them without their own knowledge and now they are about to be at the same place at the same time as her?

Not to worry, the Slytherin girl does have a plan.

It was pretty simple... basically, just trying to keep each other as far as possible. And all she had to do is just go back and forth every several minutes or so to prevent suspicion.

Sound easy, right? it was a brilliant plan, she thought to herself.

Pea arrives wearing a red dress. It was pretty simple in Pea standard, with red and black plaid design and a little ruffle at the collar. She was trying to channel the red queen to match the "wonderland" theme, but still make it a little subtle so as not to make her the center of attention, since her look doesn't particularly fit the secretive and covert type. Pea also wears a black hat with her hair up, to even mask her freakishly bright hair and blue eyes that would be easily recognizable for miles away. What she only wished for was that this outfit would make her blend into the crowd seamlessly, so that the two girls would have difficulties finding her when they're not with Pea.

Now that it's show time. She just needs to wait for one of them to show up. She went to the table of the black spades and grabbed a glass of lemonade. Before she realizes she has gulped the cup in seconds. Is she that nervous? It is so unlike her to be this anxious.

I did not want to be at the ball. Actually, that was incorrect. I wanted to be at the ball, just not wearing this outfit.
I had been given the pleasure of being part of the planning committee, the only international student.
As I walked in, I saw lots of students, who were most likely from Hogwarts. There was one Beauxbatons student, in the quidditch team with me, who I saw with a very blonde and excitable girl probably my age.
I walked past a fellow member of the planning team, Erast, and smiled at him, before walking over to the food tables. There was no way that I was going to eat anything from them, knowing too much from planning the ball. But, it was a good place to stand.
I fiddled slightly with the dress that my Grandma had made me promise to wear. It was extremely flowy, and eye-catching, neither of which were things I particularly enjoyed. But, I did have to admit that it suited me, with the gold and red. It looked like I was walking through a cloud of fire. But, what my grandma didn’t need to know was that I was wearing my favourite denim jacket over the top.
I looked around some more, my uncovered eye brushing over the crowd. Suddenly I stopped, and looked at a couple standing near me at the drinks table. It was the girl I had met earlier that day, Tes, who was standing with a boy from another school, Salim, who I was supposed to have done the bobsledding with. I stifled a laugh at them staring into each others eyes, and smiled a bit at Tes giving out a small laugh.
I looked round some more - would something exciting just happen!

1) At this point in the school year, Dido is not thinking at all clearly about people (especially Ravenclaws) and while everything said is true in her own belief, she is often very wrong/skewed.
She hadn’t quite intended to go to the ball. Well, Dido had wanted to go when she first heard there would be another ball in the year, especially after having missed the first. She then wanted to even more when she looked through her clothes and found a summer dress which wasn’t quite right for a ball but would work for the garden-party style it seemed like the ball was going for. Then, for a few days, she had decided she would not go, for little to no reason other than childish stubbornness. Then she wanted to go again. And vice versa.

When she had entered the Maze earlier in the day, Dido had still been intending to turn up, even if just for a little while. But after the maze? After her… little incident with Tina Carille? Dido wasn’t quite in the right frame of mind to attend a party.

But, of course, Dido was, at heart, a girl who loved people. She loved spending time with people and talking to people and talking about people and hearing them talk to and about her in turn. So, despite her final tearstained choice to not go, Dido somehow ended up dressed in her blue and yellow summer dress, standing just outside the courtyard.

She took a deep breath, wiping the final imagined residue of tears from her face, even though she had stopped crying more than an hour before, and stepped out into the courtyard. It was… beautiful. Not quite feeling comfortable standing with empty hands, Dido crossed to the drinks table, picked up a lemonade and took a few sips to ensure it wouldn’t spill over the edge if she moved.

As she did, Dido looked around the courtyard, noticing several people she recognised. Rosalyn was wearing her usual grin, Angel, who still had something off about her, was standing with Aamon- the second year Dido may have occasionally wished a temporary but physically debilitating illness upon in the hopes it would open up a space on the Quidditch Team. To her surprise, Tes was chatting animatedly to a boy Dido didn’t recognise. It was strange to see Tes like that. It almost made her forget to be terrified of what Tes could do to Dido if she wanted. Almost. And then, scanning across the room, Dido saw Tina.

She immediately looked away, turned away and started heading in the opposite direction with such determination. As Dido marched, she stared straight ahead, so focused on ignoring and avoiding the notice of Tina. She was, in fact, so focused that she didn’t immediately realise she had been staring at a girl and heading in her direction until it was far too late.

Fortunately, Dido stopped herself a few feet from crashing into said girl and almost froze in mortification. However, unusually for Dido, her adrenaline response was oddly helpful and immediately supplied her with a decent plan. She would just ask the girl to dance! Simple! After all, people were already pairing up for dances, the girl seemed unattached, Dido was, obviously, unattached, and-

Hi!” Dido blurted out, already failing in her watertight plan, “I-I just wanted to say…” Dido glanced back at Tina before turning to the girl, smiling brightly and continuing in a far more confident tone, “I just wanted to tell you your dress is awesome. Especially with the jacket.

Dido looked at the girl, trying to recognise her but… nope. Almost certainly not Hogwarts. Good.

I’m Dido, by the way. You're from one of the visiting schools, right?

Hikari noticed the lights first.

Crystal chandeliers dotted the sky above his head, casting a soft glow across the venue. Fairy lights stretched in every direction he turned, strung between branches, looped around pillars, draped over railings in a way that seemed to suggest effort without precision.

Careful imperfection.

The courtyard had been transformed for the occasion. Although perhaps transformed was a bit of an overstatement. The layout was the same, and the stone was still stone. The air carried the familiar evening chill.

Only now it was layered: light over shadow and music over silence.

His gaze drifted without settling, skimming over the crowds. Groups formed and dissolved. Laughter rose too quickly, faded just as easily.

Eventually his attention settled near the ends of the courtyard, where rose bushes framed the sides. It was there that something caught, an unnatural metallic sheen clinging to the flowers. Hikari's focus lingered there, confusion threading through his thoughts.

The explanation came a second later as the roses shifted color, blending from a deep crimson to a pale white, and then returning again, as though caught in an endless loop.

The illusion held his attention for only a moment longer before he turned away, the answer filed and set aside without further thought.

His fingers brushed against a crease in his cuff and he straightened it without much thought, smoothening over his sleeve in the process. The light caught on his suit, the rich green softening where the light settled. Chains hung joined to the black collar, a firm but unfamiliar weight across his right shoulder.

His mother and brother had taken the liberty of picking out the outfit for him. Hikari had to admit it was better than the bright blue he'd ended up wearing last time.

His attention shifted, to the figure next to him.

Akari; his presence familiar and comforting. And... difficult to ignore.

Deep red layered over a bright white, the contrast sharp and eye-catching. The fabric carried a heavier weight to it, most prominent in the flowing cape that fell from his shoulders. Intricate patterns traced the material, impossible to overlook.

While Hikari's attire was muted, his friend's was borderline theatrical.

It suited him perfectly.

"Anywhere specific you want to go?" Hikari asked quietly, leaving it to the latter to start off their evening.

“I still can't believe my mother snitched on me.” Eun-ji muttered under her breath for what seemed like thousandth time. Beside her, she could feel Ye-jun rolling his eyes before it actually happened. The two of them entered the courtyard like something out of a fairytale, graceful, composed and fancy enough to look almost untouchable. And yet their mood was hardly joyful. It was a performance they knew by heart.

“Come on, cousin,” Ye-jun said, his tone easy and familiar. “She had never done it before. She just wanted me to look out for you.” Ah yes…of course he’d say that. He knew how to be diplomatic and wrap even the ugliest of truths neatly to make them appear less harmful. It wasn’t often that he did so, but this was about preserving family relationships, so she expected as much. At least he didn't try too hard to defend her mother. “See? Even you can't deny it.” Her smile was thin and sharp. “She could have asked you to look out for me without giving you the details. It's not like you would refuse otherwise.” Her cousin clearly couldn't dispute that statement either. Eun-ji knew he'd burn the world down if it meant he kept his family from freezing. Something he would confirm himself soon after. “Besides, Hogwarts is where I'm content. I don't need to be looked after here. She just wants you to monitor me. Likely chose the pretty words to make herself feel better.”

Ye-jun shrugged in response. “Didn't my father ask the same of you? We can just pretend to keep an eye on each other without reporting anything.” He offered with a grin before his expression morphed into something more serious. “But you have to admit...what you did was pretty fucked up.” Right, aside from the times when he switched on his negotiating side, her cousin was never one to honey his words. He was tactful and charming when situation called for it but always remained real when it was just the two of them. Eun-ji was grateful for that quality even if it stung at times. After all, she never shied away from the truth no matter how ill-favored it was. Didn’t mean she would just stand there and take it. “I don't want to hear that from a guy, who nearly beat his schoolmate to death.” She retorted in kind, pleased to see the boy took no offense at being called out. “Fair. I guess we both grew up to be quite a disaster.” The witch huffed in amusement and shook her head. “Look at us. We used to be such good kids.” It was hard to connect that version of herself with her current self and judging from the look on his face, her companion felt the same.

Around them, the courtyard glittered with lights, magic woven into every detail. It was truly a sight to behold but, due to her extensive experience with Hogwarts balls, all Eun-ji could think about was how long it would last before the next disaster happened. Her gaze flickered through the crowd, subconsciously searching for any hints of light blue. She wasn’t entirely sure whether she actually wanted to find Hana or not. Her heart yearned to catch a glimpse and see if he was going to keep his promise but she was also afraid. Afraid to see him prancing around laughing and giving flowers to anyone pretty enough to catch his eye. The feeling twisted inside her chest, tight and unpleasant. Love was a cruel mistress. It made her feel small and petty and she didn't like it one bit.

“Looking for someone?” Ye-jun’s voice pulled Eun-ji back from the mess of her thoughts. Damn the boy. Couldn’t he let her off the hook for once? “No…just appreciating the scenery.” She lied, all too aware that the he wouldn’t believe it for a second. “You?” She fired back to keep him off her back. After all, two could play that game, she just hoped the whole evening wouldn’t be spent in this spirit. That just sounded tiring.

It took more effort than it should have to get Eun-ji to come with him tonight. Ye-jun had almost asked Tone but when he got the call from his aunt, he knew he had to stick with his cousin this time. Stubborn as she was, she pretended to be okay, but he knew her tells. He saw the way her shoulders set like she was bracing for something that hadn’t even happen yet. Or maybe it did. Ye-jun doubted she would tell him. Point was, nothing about her situation was okay. He couldn’t do anything to fix it for her, no longer even pretended to try…but he sure as hell could be there for her. It didn’t feel like enough, but it was all he had.

Even as they arrived at the event, Eun-ji was still bitter about her mother. Not loudly. Not dramatically. Just…constantly. Like a catchy song stuck in her head on repeat. Ye-jun understood since he was facing a similar position with his father, but he didn’t want to add more fuel into the fire, so he initially tried to defend his aunt…kind of. If he was being honest, his heart was not really in it. She did jack shit for her daughter for the last few years and now expected him to fight her battles? Even he felt the unfairness of it. Lucky for her, just like Eun-ji pointed out, he was always eager to step up when it came to his family.

“Guilty as charged. But protecting people dear to my heart is something I will never apologize for.” Not that she ever asked him to. The Ravenclaw just didn’t like it when people meddled in her private affairs. She didn’t like to be managed or handled. Understandably so. “But you have to admit...what you did was pretty fucked up.” The Beauxbatons student couldn’t help pointing out, because apparently he was incapable of leaving things alone. Even if it meant being called out on his own bullshit. Which Eun-ji did of course. “I don't want to hear that from a guy, who nearly beat his schoolmate to death.” No sugarcoating then... Still, he wasn’t angry. He had no right to be when he himself hated this new violent side of him. It was worse that he was so strong physically yet felt so powerless when it came to staying in control. He could feel it. How he didn’t trust himself the way he used to. “Hey,” he said, his voice a little softer. “We are still young. There is a slim chance we won’t be disasters forever.”

They went quiet after that. Not uncomfortable quiet. Just a brief moment of silence where they subtly surveyed their surroundings. Both of them impressed but neither of them particularly invested in the embellishment of the castle courtyard. “Looking for someone?” Ye-jun asked like the hypocrite he was. Once again thinking about the Hydrangea keychain tucked away safely in his suit pocket. A flower symbolizing gratefulness accompanied by a small golden circular plate adorned with a broom and a pair of boxing gloves. A custom design to represent his and Tone’s passions.

The lie coming from Eun-ji’s lips in response to his query was hardly unexpected though this time, the Beauxbatons student didn’t press the matter. He had no interest in embarrassing or hurting his cousin. He may not have been particularly fond of the boy she liked but he promised to behave. For as long as the boy didn’t cross any lines of course. “Me?” Ye-jun’s gaze drifted back to his cousin’s face before smiling casually. “...Maybe. I’m sticking with you this evening but that doesn’t mean I’m going to ignore my friend.” He finally replied. At last, something positive to talk about.

Livia had, as of yet, been unable to separate the notion of her attendance at the spring ball from that term. Even each letter written to Hayato, providing opinions and ideas for the coordination of vestments, had been penned with the intent to impart a positive impression upon onlookers. This method was something upon which Livia had been trained, but her experience and understanding of Hogwarts's dances conflicted with her understanding of politics. The intention of many students appeared to be... fun.

Nonetheless, the import of others, who surely understood less about the workings of the world, was nothing to Livia. Still, she remained aware of the indubitable fact that individuals imparted information without relent. Thus, before meeting Hayato in the dungeons, Livia spent far too long readying herself for the event. It was not easy to do so without assistance from others. The clothing was not unlike that with which she often clad herself at the usual pure-blood events; however, alone in the dormitory, a pang of something made her realise how slow her fingers were at fastening up the dress, how difficult it was to reach the middle of her back. She furrowed her brow as she finally fit the last hook through its loop, and she took a deep breath before glancing at herself in the mirror. For a moment, she stared at her reflection.

Sprig-green eyes stared back at her, devoid of makeup, something that made her hesitate. She did not know how to apply eye shadow, or eyeliner, or lip gloss, but she wondered if, dressed up like this, it was something she ought to do. The tips of her fingers brushed against her hair, which she hoped was fine enough. First impressions were everything, and that extended to skin and bones.

Ultimately, she would not try to learn the art of makeup tonight. It would be left for another day as she left the dormitory to meet Hayato and amble towards the ball. She would extend her hand for a greeting whenever she saw him – for a gentlemanly kiss or a handshake, whichever he thought proper. 'Mr Ichiyagi,' she said after just a moment's hesitation, unsure if it were apt to use English customs of formality, and aware she was not familiar with those of Japan. 'It is a pleasure to finally see you. The clothing suits you.'

When they arrived at the ball, the first thing Livia would notice would be the music. She resisted the urge to close her eyes and relax amidst the gentle, soulful waltz music dancing through the air. Instead, she gave more focus to her eyes, observing first the fairy lights, a sparkling touch that was nicely done, and then the gazebo. 'Marble,' she murmured appreciatively – as a sculptor, she could not help but feel a spark of pride at recognising some of the workmanship. 'I do believe they have organised this quite wonderfully,' Livia mused, turning to hayato. 'I must ask, what would you like to do first?'

Wonderland Waltz 2026 Spring Ball
Sometimes, Rina thinks she has to stop getting herself into these sorts of situations. They happen plenty at her mamá's hotel – there'll be some rich dude having a fiesta in the lobby, and Rina'll come in, muddy and wet and totally underdressed, and she'll stand there and wave, all while her mamá's face reddens because maybe it's a bad idea to show up like that.

Well, at least this time, it's not a private event! And she's sort of dressed right. Somewhat. If you squint.

She heard 'wonderland' and did as much research as she could, because it sounded neat, and she realised that was the thing with the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat. She'd known what those were, so she sent her mamá a letter and asked for as many cheap hats as she could find. And also a blazer and pinstriped trousers. Before leaving for the ball, she wore this pair of loafers she'd found on the street once, and a usual T-Shirt underneath the black blazer. The hats stacked atop her head for a while, and she's still really proud of the fact that they haven't fallen over yet.

She nearly barrels into the courtyard, her eyebrows rising as she realises how shiny it is. A girl – waves of red hair, gold dress, eyepatch – catches her eye. She can't quite remember the girl's name but she knows she's from Beauxbâtons, too. Amazing. Everyone's so shiny and pretty, so Rina wonders for a moment if maybe all black wasn't the way to go, but you know what, the hats are rainbow, so it's fine. She's got the cool factor, anyway.

Rina beelines for the food and drink. She's a growing girl, what do you expect!? She snags a lemonade from the table of black spades and sits by the table of black clubs, having recognised the cards. Sipping at her lemonade, she leans back and lets a lazy smile show teeth. Yeah, this is pretty cool, even if everyone else is totally overdressed.

It was the day. What day? The grand opening of Wonderland Waltz day! Rosaline woke up thrilled to participate in all the events, though she had been part of this year’s Spring Ball Committee, so she couldn’t join the Labyrinth game. She was proud of what their team had accomplished, an Alice in Wonderland-themed spring ball with various events. Though planning was tiring, it was still a fun journey, and it was already toward the end.

The sunlight streaming in the room at an angle on her lavender gown, the golden chariot was driving away; we could only see it the next morning. Her grandmother, Thelma, had prepared this gown for her, which was made by several seamstresses who collaborated with the Wrenford family regularly. Rosaline had told Thelma the theme in the letter, and she sent the gown and jewelry she’d need in a big package. There was no one in her dorm right now; she had to wear this dress on her own. After a bit of struggling, she finally put it on successfully and didn’t stretch any fabric. The billowy gown made her feel like flying in the cloud. This dress was a bit similar to the one she wore to the Autumn Ball last time, made of tulles. The bodice was a tight corset, defining her waist; on the top of it was soft petal-like layering. The bottom transitioned from the slim waist to a voluminous ballgown skirt, almost like something that only existed in a fairytale. Then Rosaline donned the rest of the star-shaped jewelry on her, a necklace and a pair of earrings. Rosaline put on some light lipstick, cheek blush, and lavender shimmer eyeshadow; she had learned a bit of makeup skills after the autumn ball. The last step. Spraying one of her favorite perfumes, Cap Neroli from Nicolai, the refreshing neroli aroma symbolized the vibrant spring. She was all set. A smile appeared on her face. Rosaline checked her appearance one last time in front of the mirror.

Picking up a small purse, Rosaline placed her wand in it, in case there were any incidents that happened in the venue. Last ball, Leo waited for her outside of the Gryffindor Common Room, so this time Rosaline suggested she could go outside of the Ravenclaw Common Room and do the same thing. It wasn’t a long journey to there; she waited for a brief moment, then there was Leo. “Hey, you look very handsome today," Rosaline said with a hint of teasing, but she meant it. “What do you think of my dress today?" she chuckled and playfully spun in a circle for him, the tulles flowing in the air. After that, she realized they probably should go to the ball venue soon, since it was already a bit late, and their friends could’ve been there waiting for them. “Let’s go, I don’t want to keep them waiting too long.”

Entering the courtyard, she already knew what the scenery would be like, since she and the committee had planned it out, one detail by one detail. Yet, she was still amazed by the scene in front of her, especially seeing all the students in it; everyone wore the theme-fitting dresses or suits, and they all used their creativity in their outfits. Rosaline stood near the entrance observing the crowd for a single minute; most were first-year students, and there were higher-year students she had never met before. Eyes darting around, Rosaline finally found Erast and Vera; one was her longtime pen pal and close friend, and the other was her childhood friend. The two of them looked like a great match. A smile tugs at the corner of her lips. Rosaline liked to see her friends sharing a good time together.

Milica Vranekova was besides them. Though Rosaline didn’t know this Slytherin well, she remembered she and Cecilia were good friends if she didn’t miss any details, and she usually wouldn’t miss any. It was a rather odd pair, not that there was anything wrong; maybe Erast was familiar with Milica because they both were Prefects…

Ok, enough thinking. Rosaline walked toward them with Leo on her side. “Vera, Erast, Milica! Hello. How are you thinking the ball so far?" Rosaline greeted them with a bright grin. Then she turned to face Milica since she wasn’t sure if the Slytherin could recall her name. “I’m Rosaline Everhart; I think this might be our first introduction if I have the correct memories.” Rosaline looked around again, wondering, “Have you seen Fred?”

but please, don’t ask me who I am. A passionate, fragmentary girl, maybe?” ― Sylvia Plath
