Jan did not need any further comment to know that he’s clearly bleeding. He thought it wasn’t anything to be alarmed about, though he felt the stinging sensation started to spread. “Yeah, I’m fine, really,” he quickly assured Pam and went back to his task in hope that the casual dismissal would be enough to pacify any further thoughts of worries. But as he stubbornly tried to get back into weaving the branches, the pain flared up, and he reacted to it with a loud grunt.
At this point, he gave up. There’s no point in completing the wreath when he’s clearly injured to do it. Even if he was able to use his other hand, one wasn’t enough to complete the task. He could’ve gotten help as he has two people that pitched in and offer him their assistance, yet he didn’t want the two Hufflepuff girls burdening themselves to fully take over the wreath task for him. A thought in his head had considered returning back the branches and twines back to where it was, but the wreath was already half-formed, and he couldn’t bring himself to undo it all, especially after putting his effort into it.
With a heavy sigh, he reluctantly continued his work, this time with his uninjured hand only. Of course, it wasn’t easy as his movements were slower than usual, but as long as he finished this task, he could just move on and immediately went to the Hospital Wings to seek some treatment from the nurse. If only he could heal himself with his wand and getting some help from Ruth and Pam without causing much burden, he would’ve finished the task sooner.

A pumpkin pasty later and the paint around the bauble had finally dried out. Emily held it up to the light, admiring the shimmer of the glitter as she rotated it around her fingers. So far it was looking pretty good... Or just pretty in general!
Yet something about it didn't seem quite seem festive enough... So with another peruse of the arts and crafts laid out for the other bauble builders in the room, Emily took a lick of white paint along with some more sparkly glitter. She decided a little snowfall along the bauble landscape wouldn't hurt and so began to trace the ocean edge with a fine brush as she created a snowy reflection from the clouds she would make with the glitter later on.
Anything productive always helped Emily clear her head but this time she found this all very therapeutic. After the events over the last couple days she had been a bit on edge but this little activity has certainly helped her calm right down, helping her think a bit more clearly and have a much more open mind for the near future.
Dolls and danger and threats of death had nothing on the soothing relaxation of glitter and paint!
Thanks to friends and colours, she was already feeling a whole lot better.
Letting the thin line of paint dry out, Emily snuck back over and helped herself to another snack. This time, she came back over with a small chocolate and hazelnut cake slice with some lemonade to drink on the side. May as well have a mini banquet when you're watching paint dry!
She nibbled away at her cake as she surveyed the room. The tree was already looking very decorative as troops of students came in to make their baubles before bouncing out again. Others hung about to chit chat with each other while some continued to work away on their own. She scanned the room to see if she recognised anyone, but with the constant shuffle of students moving about, she found it hard to pinpoint any specific faces. She reckoned she'll continue solo for now unless someone wants to come over, which was fine by her.
She lightly poked the bauble to test if the paint had dried yet. Nearly. Another ten minutes maybe? She took another bite of her cake slice before putting back some of the artsy stuff she borrowed from earlier, putting the other paints and pens back for others to use at their leisure.
She dusted her hands off the crumbs from the cake slice before getting her glitter set up for the clouds. After another test of the paint and with a small swig of lemonade, she began to gently stick patches of glitter into tiny ovals across the "sunny" side of her bauble.
Things might get a bit tricky from here. And messy.

Christmas Decorating!

It was a little over an hour after lunch on a chilly, yet nice Saturday, when Louisa McStately nervously made her way to the Great Hall. 'Finally, it is December!' She thought cheerfully, wondering what these Christmas holidays would hold in store for her. Louisa hurried down the hall, hugging her warm jacket close to her, and finally, feeling nervous, excited, and apprehensive, entered into the Great Hall.
As soon as Louisa McStately had entered the great hall, a huge smile sparked across her shy, nervous looking face. Her brown eyes eagerly took in the decorations, from the half, yet beautifully decorated Christmas Tree to the part of the usual staff table full of unmade decorations, and finally, to the delicious looking food that caused her to feel annoyingly hungry. Really, there was something beautiful about Hogwarts at Christmas!
"Oh, how I love Christmas!" Louisa sighed wistfully, in a slightly dreamy tone.
Trying to look like a sweet, not so amazed first year, Louisa pasted a calm, focused smile onto her brightly beaming face. Louisa walked nervously over to the table with the decorations, and with an awkward, nervous step found a little green twine which she collected, along with some string, flowers, a few empty, tinted, but transparent baubles, and some glitter and a piece of pine needle. ‘I’ll make a wreath and some baubles.’ Louisa thought, wishing she had thought of a better idea beforehand.
Louisa, collecting her small load, decided to find a spot to sit amid the other students. Louisa made a quick check of the other students in the room. A few were in groups and others were on their own. Louisa wanted to join a group but felt it would be better to not embarrass herself too much.
“Guess I’ll sit on my own too…” Mumbled Louisa, feeling a down for a second and really wishing she had made a friend at Hogwarts too. “I just have to try harder!” She hisses, ever so quietly yet determinedly to herself.
As Louisa sat down and made herself comfortable, she took a little twine in her hands and began to create a wreath. Carefully she weaved the twine around and around. Finally, feeling satisfied at her base for her wreath, she holds the started wreath up to examine her handiwork. As Louisa lowers her wreath back onto the table, her hand slips a little and she lets go of the starting piece that was holding the wreath together. With a painfully fast spin the wreath comes apart and turns into no more than the starting pile of twine.
“No! How could it…?” Louisa cries in a terribly annoyed voice as her previously satisfied smile is replaced by a look of pure frustration.
Louisa sits, her shoulders hunched, her face annoyed as she watches everyone else continues and the tree slowly gain more and more decorations. As extremely childish as her behavior is, Louisa can’t help feeling a little annoyed at her ruined efforts. Finally, once at least five minutes has past, Louisa begins the process once more. It takes the far less enthusiastic Louisa, a lot longer to redo her base of the wreath, but once she has finally finished it, she hurriedly ties the wreath with some string, before continuing with another layer of twine.
And quite alike to her twisting twine, her thoughts begin to travel to Christmas at home – in London. With her dear brother and parents.
Back in Louisa’s apartment in London, Christmas was the one time of the year when the house was aloud to look a little more messy and busy. So it was naturally a big deal when the Christmas tree was put up and Laura and her brother decorated it. Her mother would bring out a huge box of decorations, and amid countless giggles, hot chocolate and Christmas songs on the radio, Louisa and her brother would heap the Christmas tree with decorations until it sagged under the weight of all the baubles and tinsel and other festive decorations. Louisa really did hate to admit it, but Hogwarts was just a bit more beautiful and Christmasy then home, and the missing muggle radio, home, tree, brother and parents were all quite nicely replaced by, well, magic! A little part of Louisa’s heart clenched in homesickness at the thought of them decorating the tree without her, but she managed to continue to smile and weave the Christmas wreath with beautiful precision and not a tear or a frown enters her face.
After at least twenty minutes, Louisa has weaved a beautiful wreath, and filled the inside of three baubles with glitter by carefully unscrewing the tops and placed these on the wreath. For a small moment Louisa wonders if anyone will judge the fact that she has done everything the muggle way without a hint of any magic, but then Louisa realizes that no one is looking at her and she continues with her decorating in a far more cheerful way.
Once the wreath finally meets Louisa’s rather high standards, she checks it one more time before standing up, pushing her chair neatly back in and hurrying over to the table with the food. Louisa carefully pours herself a little hot chocolate, collects and begins to eat a pumpkin pastie, a little white chocolate cookie and a small piece of cake. Louisa blushes at the amount she has just eaten, but has to admit that the taste is really worth it.
Finally, Louisa takes a breath and determinately attempts to find someone who can help her with the levitation charm. Spotting someone, Louisa turns and, cradling her wreath, walks towards them, feeling a little nervous but determined to successfully get her charm right…

May All Your Baubles Be Bright
It was the first of December! Which meant Christmas had officially begun! And Harmony knew the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit: making decorations.1st December 2024
Away from home and unable to put up the tree (and whatever other decorations she and her sister decided to sprinkle around the house), she was feeling the slightest bit sulky. Fortunately, she would be able to use her brain for some good creating, and the thought of that saw a little skip in Harmony's step.
Arriving at the Great Hall, Harmony could see there were already several other students, some of whom had already finished and were hanging up their ornaments. There was still plenty of stuff to use, though, and the festive spirit had Harmony feeling more okay than usual about sitting with random students she didn't know.
And over there! Food! It all smelled so good, particularly the hot chocolate, and Harmony found herself focusing for a bit too long on the snacks.
Alright!
She clapped her hands together once, refocusing her attention on the supplies. Standing a little distance away and leaning the slightest bit towards the table, Harmony could see some popcorn (wrong table?) and round baubles of every colour and plain wreaths and branches and- there was just so much to look at!
Harmony pressed her lips together in thought. She had to make a decision quickly or risk standing there like a lemon forever.
She glanced up at the trees the finished baubles were being hung on, the light streaming through the nearby windows giving her an idea. It could possibly not work but, oh well, it would be fun.
With that, Harmony grabbed three transparent baubles, a few random colors of paint and paper, and a crap ton of glitter
Wait, no. Other people would need the glitter
She put several colors back.
With the leftover supplies, Harmony found herself an empty space to dump her things before turning and beelining for the snacks. She helped herself to hot chocolate and an assortment of fun-looking cookie flavors, glancing back at her supplies every so often to make sure no one had stolen them, and brought her treasures back to her spot, walking slowly so as to not drop anything.
Finally settled in and comfortable, Harmony began on her first bauble: the one with a crap ton of glitter.
She would still try and make it aesthetic and pretty, but glitter.
Harmony took a handful of white glitter in an empty container then dropped smaller pinches of red, green, and gold in for some pretty coloured specks. Next, she drew a solid circle of white paint on the bottom of a bauble, then turned it upside down and sprinkled her glitter mixture over it until the circle was fully glitterfied. Following those same steps, she continued up the bauble, leaving increasing gaps as she did, until the bauble had a gradient effect of white glitter and caught coloured light as it moved.
Holding the bauble high in front of her and turning it this way and that, Harmony felt very proud of herself.
She was good at this.
For the second bauble, she was going to aim for the stars and try to make a snowglobe-type situation with a flower base.
Why flowers?
Well, she had randomly learned from her mum over the holidays how to make paper flowers and, as a child with a new skill, how could she not be expected to show it off?
Anyways, she made a paper flower, only pausing a few times to squint and remember the next steps.
She then considered the bauble.
Harmony glanced around.
Her parents were not present.
Harmony looked back at the bauble.
She picked up her wand and held it directly over the bauble, as if about to stab it.
Harmony reconsidered.
She put down her wand and picked the bauble up, now hovering it over the edge of the table like an egg about to be cracked.
Harmony held her breath and made a face.
The bauble-egg cracked more cleanly than she expected.
Harmony was relieved.
She gingerly put the bauble pieces aside and turned to the rest of her paper, intending to fold a 3D house and perhaps some trees, but she stopped to remember how long it took her in primary school and how fiddly it was and how her fingers were sticky afterwards and so she decided against it. Instead, she simply drew and cut out the objects in her scenes and decided it could be funny to have them be flat pieces if paper.
After carefully standing and securing the paper-scene inside the bottom half of the broken bauble, Harmony took the other piece along with her wand and cast a “reparo” to fix the pieces back together. Finally, she stuck the bauble into the centre of her paper flower, and she had a snow globe blooming from paper petals!
For the final bauble, Harmony was going to draw inspiration from stained glass. Was it going to work? She didn't know. Probably not. Maybe it would look sad and disappointing. But she was going to give it a go and do her best to not take it as a slight against her person.
She took the final bauble and a flat paintbrush, gently dipping the very tip of the brush into some paint and painting on the thinnest coat she could while still giving it colour, carefully painting on simple coloured designs. The paint had brush streaks and was slightly thicker in some areas and Harmony was feeling the slightest bit frustrated but it was okay; she still had two beautiful baubles and this one did not determine anything about her.
Finally, after the hot chocolate had been drained and the cookies reduced to mere crumbs, Harmony was finished. She picked up all three baubles at the same time, dangling them carefully from crooked fingers, and made her way over to the tree. She wanted to put the baubles at eye-ish height so they could be seen, so didn't bother with spells or asking professors, simply looking for a nice spot a decent way away from decorations already on the tree, and stretching to slide the baubles onto their branches.
Happy Merry Christmas!

Erendriel wanders at the castle, She’s bundled in a soft navy blue woolen cloak lined with white fur. This holiday season is the Yuletide, well-known as the Christmas season! Eren can't belive that she's celebrating Christmas at Hogwarts! Hogwarts is full of Christmas decorations, from their common room to the classrooms and even the halls! However, nothing beats the centerpiece this season, its The Great Hall! A huge Christmas tree is the getting decorated with crafted ornaments made by the students, The House Elves are helping too. There are also snowflakes that is enchanted in the air and dissapear when falling and decorated candles that float gently on the ceiling which warm the place even more.
“This is incredible. The place is so beautiful” she whispered to herself, her delicate features is glowing with anticipation for today's event, This was her first holiday at Hogwarts and she's so mesmerized by it and waiting for this all day. She glanced around the hall, watching the students who confidently using the craft materials like they're used to doing this every year. While younger first years are giggling as they struggled to thread popcorn onto their strings.
She made her way to a crafting table, looking and picking various available materials at the craft supplies table. What should I make? She chose a corner at one of the craft tables, an empty seat where she set her sketchbook aside and sat smoothly. She reached the craft supplies and place them near her side, she grab the transparent bauble and her fingers were brushing slightly against the smooth surface thinking of the design she wanted to create on it. Her first attempt was a disaster, the green paint she used on the bauble to cover was streaked unevenly and the glitters she put is clumped in a one spot.
It's not even dry! why did I put the glitters immediately?! She's displeased but also determined to create another one, she set aside the bauble to dry. Alright. Let’s make something simple but pretty She chose to use the transparent bauble once more, She carefully gathered some small tinsel colored in silver and light blue which reminded her of winter skies. She used a small stick to push the tinsel at the edge of the bauble while spiraling over it and putting glue to stick it together. A small dot of liquid glue to placed randomly, and she sprinkled gold glitter over it.
It looked beautiful already, but I wanted to make something more. Erendriel reached for the red bauble and white paint markers and sketched a snowflake on one side and another. Then she traced the outlined snowflakes with a small amount of liquid glue and sprinkled it with white glitter. She create another one with a different design, such as different patterns of snowflakes, winter flowers and snowman on the baubles. Erendriel has always loved drawing different things, to draw various stuffs as a hobby and she is having a great time!
Her hands were already sticky from the glue she’d used earlier to sprinkle some glitter onto the bauble but she didn’t mind. Her workspace was beginning to look messy! The table was covered with glitter, her supplies were scattered all over it, and a glob of glue gleamed close to her elbow. Erendriel was having a great time in spite of the a mess. She then moved on to create a wreath. Erendriel grabbed a pre-made wreath and began decorating it with green tinsel, leaf cutouts of green papers, and plenty of small baubles covered in red and a white silvery design made of glitter and paints.
As she's pilling her ornaments, the glue on the outside of the failed bauble has sprinkled glitter over. Unfortunately, as she clean she managing to spread the glitters further. She began to dust her hands, robes, and even her cheeks. Erendriel glanced down at her workspace and flushed. This is not proper. I better clean this up, it's too messy already. Quickly setting aside her dried and finished ornaments. She began tidying her space, she collected carefully the supplies she hadn’t used and put them back on the craft supplies. She wipe the table, stacking the rubbish neatly on a bin, The young witch smiled to herself satisfied that her area was once again tidy.
She made her way toward the giant Christmas tree, A group of students stood nearby chatting and laughing as they levitated their baubles into tree. Erendriel froze she was still learning exactly how to cast the levitation spell, and the idea of embarrassing herself made her stomach turn. She noticed that a prefect close by and sought assistance. “Excuse me. Could you please help me put this on the tree? I don’t know the spell yet.” She smiled and nodded flickering her wand as she gently levitated the ornament onto the branch in the middle of the Christmas tree. “Thank you!”
She's so proud of her accomplishment she made her way to the refreshment table. She grabbed a mug of hot chocolate, a chocolate cookie, and a sttrawberry shortcake. As she sipped the warm drink. Her face lighting up as she watched the ornament she made, her very first Hogwarts ornament! She admired her efforts on making ornaments for the tree, she also noticed all the beautiful ornaments that is made by the other students.

The girl, taken aback a bit with the boy's initial harsh response, furrowed her eyebrows a bit. The thought that he might be having a bad day crossed her mind, but they were literally painting baubles on a weekend afternoon. How bad would his day possibly have been? She replied cautiously, suddenly okay with the distance between him and herself. She hummed noncommittally. “You’re really nice, has anyone told you that before?”, she couldn’t resist the urge to comment. “Anyways, yeah. The angle is tricking me, probably.” Anella shrugs off her mistake, soldering on in her little project. She folds another star quickly, before turning her head back to the boys that had just joined them. A boy in an… honestly genius, straight (out of bed) off the runway outfit and a boy in overalls. She shot them a friendly smile.
“Heyyy!” She greeted, “Cirrus, aren’t you in my house? I think I saw you around in the common room, no?” She questioned the boy with a raised eyebrow, leaning with her elbows on the table as she folded a strip of white paper. She reads his shirt, commenting with a hint of amusement in her voice. “Didn’t know you were such a big fan of crispy bread.” He always seemed a bit cringe, but also like a nice kid. She suddenly got a craving for her dad’s sourdough, and nothing was amusing anymore. She appreciated the hard-working house-elves that worked in Hogwarts, yet nothing matched the recipes of her home with the secret ingredient of love. And a ton of garlic in every meal, minus desserts. She dropped the star she was working on and took a second to pop her fingers, stretching them out a bit. It reminded her of her first month at Hogwarts, how hard writing with quills was. A real workout for the wrist, and don’t get her started on the chicken-scratch her first week of writing was. Who knew what was written there.
She messed with her hair a bit, putting it down and behind her shoulders before pulling it back into a messy, spiky low bun. She had started calling it the “potions bun” in her head, since it took the least effort and time to protect her hair from all sorts of odd concoctions they had brewing over there. Or to protect the concoctions from her hair - or, honestly, both. It worked and that’s what mattered.

Honestly, Dori was a little surprised at how many students quickly filed in. They expected this to be a resounding success since this was a very well put together event (they would pat themselves on the back about it later), but not this much of a success. The tiredness seemed to lift from from their very bones as baubles and decorations were slowly being decorated. They walked around to greet students, but otherwise stayed by the tree for assistance to the younger years.⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛
The first small child (compared to Dori who was so old and wise in sixth year) that needed levitation assistance, was @Ruth Fairchild, "Ah, Ruth these are beautiful! Up they go!" They would levitate them up to an appropriately high position, smiling at the girl as she ran off to get snacks. The next to approach was one @Jan Dehoff "I like the stars on yours, Jan. Well done!" He then left to craft a bit more, and Dori couldn't help but smile warmly as Ruth joined him.
A little bitt later was @Ira Thornfield, who was very polite in her request. "My pleasure, you even decorated yourself!" They chuckled at the glitter that seemed to coat Ira that matched the inside of her bauble.
Dori couldn't help but brighten up even more when a dear friend, @Aly Salinger, approached. "Aly! Oh my gosh, I couldn't even see you among the first years. Your glitter coverage is quite impressive." They watched as her bauble was placed modestly at eye level. "Don't tell the rest, but I think yours deserves to be right at eye-level, to be adequately admired. But yeah, so far so good! I'm honestly a bit surprised at how many showed up." They scanned the tables, just making sure everything was fine in the midst of this conversation, before returning their gaze to Aly. "Thank you for coming, really. And no obligation to stay! If there's leftover snacks I'll be sure to owl you a little package of them." Dori made a mental note to sneak some to the side to be able to send her some anyway, even if there didn't end up being leftovers.
A brief hello was exchanged with fellow prefect, @Mylo Atkins, and a thank you to them for attending. It honestly warmed Dori's heart that their fellow prefects were showing up for their event, the smile they had since people had started arriving was firmly planted on their face at this point.
@Erendriel Ravaxidor was another particularly polite student asking for levitation helped, and they gladly obliged. "It'll be quite a useful one when you do, trust me!" As Dori was decently short, having the levitation spell was a beautiful gift.
Dori's ears did perk up when through the conversational din of decorating, they heard that someone was bleeding. Their attention was drawn to Ruth and Jan, as well as a newcomer @Pamela Graham. They smiled brightly, walking over to them. "I'm a healing intern, and quite adept at healing spells if I do say so myself." Their healing spells always seemed to be more potent than their fellow students Healing Sage I + II, for emphasis they pulled their wand out of their sweater. "Did you want me to heal you up really quick? I promise it won't take but a moment, and then you won't even have to go to the hospital wing!"
If Jan consented, Dori would cast a quick minor healing charm. If not, they would offer to grab him a plaster out of their bag so at least prevent the blood from going- well... all over the craft. Either way, Dori would excuse themselves from the interaction shortly after providing assistance to return to their spot by the tree.I only interacted with those who mentioned the prefect or Dori in their post! Cirrus just smiled goofily, his mouth slightly opened, he seemed to have nothing but air, and if he was lucky some clouds, in his head. He paused for a few moments longer than needed, buffering as if he ran off of a wifi with a bad connection.
"Yeah, A wis really cauld! A wis aye forget hou cauld it is durin winter until its winter... yeah,"1 He nodded as he spoke, furrowing his eyebrows slightly as if what he was saying was extremely important.
"Heyyyy," Cirrus echoed but more awkwardly throwing up his hands into fingers guns, gesturing towards the freckled girl. "A think sae? A thoucht A recognizit ye ower, are ye a hufflepuff?"2
She seemed pretty nice, or at the very least extremely polite to him, even being completely oblivious to the amusement lacing her words in her next sentence. Cirrus only shrugged in response, as he grabbed a pair of scissors.
"A dinnae know, A guess no really? it's juist a shirt ma mom got me, A dinnae e'en eat eggs,"3 He spoke examining the scissors, itching behind ear with his free hand.
Cirrus then proceeded to put a marshmello in between his teeth, something he often practiced when riding his bike back in St. Andrews. He grabbed a sheet of brown paper, stopping to think for a moment, before folding the paper in half, carefully but sloppily. During this time another boy had joined the trio, Cirrus immediately recognized him from Oliver's birthday party, except today his attire was overalls and some snazzy looking checkers shoes. Huzzah! More Friends, Cirrus thought to himself smiling slightly as he grabbed some glue. Cirrus beamed slightly as the blonde-haired boy addressed him, although he didn't know his name, but it was fair because Cirrus didn't know his either. He quickly ate the marshmello, before speaking accidentally poking himself in the face with the safety scissors.
"AGH! Yeah, sorry, A wis, nice tae see ye again! ma name is cirrus, A actually dinnae remember yer name either?"4 He said in an almost incoherent spiel, as he looked back down at his work. "Also A like yer shoes."5
Cirrus pulled his legs up to his body pulling his shirt over them, knowing full well that his mother would have scolded him for stretching out the fabric of the shirt. He poured some glue on his ornament, a little too much as it created some mess, becoming like sticky string cheese on his hands. Cirrus huffed quietly in slight annoyance, looking up every once in a while to see what the others were doing and talking about. He picked up the bottle of glue, he glanced quickly to see if anyone else was looking before sniffing it. It didn't smell that bad.... NO! What was he thinking, he shouldn't eat the glue! Even if he really wanted to. Cirrus quickly put the bottle back down, leaving a residue of glue prints on the bottle. He finished his project, completing it with a small bit of twine at the top. It was a GingerBread Ornament! It was the best thing he had ever created in his life, it was a masterpiece! Or so he thought, it actually looked completely awful. Cirrus placed his hands on the edge of the table as he watched his fellow students finish up their ornaments, slowly realizing the stark contrast of Oliver's compared to his own. He was good. Cirrus tried to lift up his hands, but he couldn't he looked down to find that his hands were glued to the table, Cirrus's ears flushed red. He stayed quiet trying to hide the fact that his hands were literally stuck to the table.
