They were born in Italy. Their parents were eccentrics: their father, an exceptional dollmaker known in the high society of wizarding Italy, and their mother, no less of an oddity, a fashion designer. Needless to say, they grew up among the arts and the aristocracy. They developed a liking for similar things in turn, but unlike their parents they were more interested in decay than in creation.
When they were nine years old, their father became involved in shady business, or perhaps it had begun earlier, but in that year the Vespucci-Delacroix family were forced to flee Italy, as Mr Vespucci was in debt and unable to pay it back. With what remained of their fortune, they managed to escape to the United Kingdom and settle in Oxford. Their whereabouts are still not shared with many, and the family keeps its business mostly low-key.
For Ginevra, it was never quite clear why they had to leave home, but they were not attached to it anyway. To them it was simply a passing place to perform their rituals, to conjure their spirits, and take from it what was theirs. England was not much different. The move did not affect the child.
Attending Hogwarts was a weighty decision for the family, as they were concerned about privacy, but after Ginevra proved trustworthy with secrets, and following careful consideration, they decided to send her to Hogwarts.

It happened when they were nine: they became very angry, and a nearby glass vase shattered.

Character Statistics: Stamina - 5, Evasion - 7, Strength - 6, Wisdom - 8, Arcane, Power - 4, Accuracy - 5
Character Special Race/Talent: Obnoxiously Strong-
As you can tell from Sofia's first instance of magic, you could see that she was stronger than most of her peers. Although no one could really tell at first, especially because she's muggle-born. Her parents simply believed that Sofia was unusually strong for such a small and quiet child. There had been signs throughout her childhood. She could pick up large rocks while helping in the garden, carry heavy shopping bags without complaining and move plant pots that her older sister struggled to lift. She also broke toys more often than other children, usually because she gripped or pulled them harder than she realised. Most people never really noticed, mainly because Sofia wasn't an athlete like you'd expect for someone with strength, she did enjoy sports but it wasn't her favourite thing. She preferred reading, gardening and making stories in her imagination. She was gentle, patient and rarely became angry. However, when she did become angry, it was normally because someone was being cruel or damaging something she cared about. So that's why when she saw that boy destroying that plant she was furious. How could someone disrespect the environment like that, she couldn't believe someone could be so cruel. So of course she went over to tell him to stop and she was very polite about it too. But the boy laughed at her, he didn't care. But Sofia did, she asked him again, and again. But still nothing. She was on her last wit and tried to push him off the flower but he pushed her back. She got angry, very angry. And pushed him again, she didn't mean to push him so hard but she did.She was shocked and a little bit scared, she didn't want to hurt anyone. For several years afterwards, Sofia tried to hide her strength. She avoided lifting heavy objects in front of other people and became extremely careful when playing games with her friends. She did not want people to find her frightening or dangerous. More than anything, Sofia wanted to be someone others could trust. What she didn't realise was that she could help people. However, hiding her ability did not help her control it. She sometimes cracked plant pots by gripping them too tightly or pulled weeds so forcefully that she fell backwards. Sofia began practising while gardening, lifting pots gently and concentrating on using only as much force as necessary. She also helped carry soil, watering cans and gardening equipment. Gradually, Sofia realised that her strength was not something she needed to fear. It could be useful when controlled properly. She began carrying shopping for her parents, moving boxes around the house and helping her sister with heavy objects.

Character Backstory:Sofia grew up in a close knit family in Dover, England. They spent as much time together as possible, whether they were eating dinner, gardening, watching films or taking walks near the coast. To most people, they appeared to be the perfect family. However, behind closed doors, they were struggling financially. Money was often tight, but her parents tried their best to prevent their children from worrying. They could never afford holidays, of expensivive gifts, so they focused on creating memories that their children will remember for a lifetime. Because of this Sofia was always grateful for the little things. Sofia learned to be considerate of others because you never know what's really going on in their life. She learnt to appreciate the small things like helping her mother in the garden, borrowing books front he library, making up stories with her sister and most of all spending time with family. Sofia was especially close to her older sister, who has the dream of attending university, however her parents could not afford to cost of sending her. Which left her sister disappointed and unsure about her future. Sofia did not fully understand the family’s financial problems at first, but she could tell that everyone was worried. She tried to help by doing small tasks around the house and avoiding complaints, even when she wanted something they could not afford. When Sofia's hogwarts letter arrived, the whole family was shocked. As muggles they never believed in magic. Sofia was excited but also frightened at the idea of leaving home and entering a world she had never seen before. For her parents the letter represented hope, Hogwarts would allow Sofia to learn, discover her abilities and experience opportunities they feared they could never provide.Although she knew she would miss her family, she knew she would take this opportunity and work hard and make the most of this chance she had been given.

First Instance of Magic: When she was 6 she was gardening with her mother when she noticed in a nearby garden an older boy was trampling on plants. Her mother hadn't noticed but Sofia was angry. She walked over to the boy and told him to stop but he didn't , she told him again but he didn't so she shouted at him but he wouldn't sop. She was furious and pushed the boy, however when she pushed him she somehow became stronger than she should've been which made the boy fly backwards and land on his bum. He was uninjured but shocked so ran off. Her mother had no idea how she did that and came running over to say sorry to the boy. She then turned to Sofia and told her off, her mother was scared but Sofia didn't know why.

Character Special Race/Talent: N/A Character Backstory: Rowena Smith grew up in the rainy town of Cork, Ireland with her parents and fluffy dog noodle. Her father always called her Roe because she was timid like the Roe Deer that would prance by in the evenings. "But watch little Roe," he would say, "watch how they dance, run, play, but only when they think no one is watching." And his eyes would twinkle with light. She lives in a humble cottage which may be the happiest home there ever was. Somehow, Rowena always dreamed of getting out to a place where she was understood, even though she knew she should have the perfect life. Her family's small cottage is cramped and cluttered, but homey and comfortable as well. Every day she rode to school on the pink bicycle she had had since she was nine. It was her favorite birthday present that year. Every day she came home to her yipping Pomeranian, Noodle, who was entirely spoiled and loved Rowena with all his tiny heart. However, at her public school she was teased and bullied by other girls for her appearance, intelligence, and financial situation. Particularly, a girl named Miranda, and her group of friends made a game of teasing Rowena every day. Her only refuge was the library. Not wanting her loving parents to worry, she wove white lies about her friends and what they did after school to explain the hours with her only true friends, the characters in books. Truly they weren't big lies. The girls who were her friends were Jane, Annabeth, Sophie, Katniss, her book friends. She lived in secret isolation except for the joyful weekends with her family until her Hogwarts letter came.
First Instance of Magic: She was walking home after school when some girls walked up to her. They began teasing her about her love of books, good grades, and red hair. She felt her sadness and anger growing and, in her habit of attempting to not let her emotions be seen, she pushed her feelings deep into her heart. they came out as magic. She suddenly found herself standing alone as the girls had drifted peacefully into a deep sleep. Horrified and shocked she told no one of her strange ability. The girls remembered nothing of the incident due to a memory wipe from the obliviators. Rowena received her letter 3 years later hand delivered by a profesor from Hogwarts.

Character Backstory: My life pre-Hogwarts was so fun. I grew up in Croydon England with my parents and the family cat, Poppy, a black and orange tabby. I read a lot, mostly Dr. Seuss and Peter Rabbit when I was little then I started to read The Series Of Unfortunate Events and James Herriot’s Treasury For Children, and my mum who is a muggle took me to the library a lot, we had fun checking out joke books and annoying dad with so many knock knock jokes. My dad who is a wizard taught me how to play Quidditch, we threw a quaffle around the back yard and on the weekends we usually went to the park to play basketball (he let me win when I was little)or went to the skate park to attempt to teach me how to skate board which I figured out eventually around my 9th birthday after quite a few minor wipeouts and only one bad injury. My gran ( dad’s mum, also a wizard ) came to visit during the holidays, she had such cool stories from the past and old folk tales. My dad is an auror at the ministry of magic, he has light brown eyes and black hair. My mum is an author of futuristic teen fiction science fiction novels, she has dark brown eyes and reddish-brown hair. My best friend is named Nova, she is a year older than me, she’s also a prankster and we were always up to trouble together, mostly just annoying the old man next door with silly questions about the sky being orange or some other outrageously silly thing. We all listened to rock and roll music and I was able to figure out how to play some of our favorite songs on the guitar, such as California Dreamin’, Seven Nation Army and Home on the Range. Life at home was fun and my parents were always telling jokes and teaching me a lot about everything from astronomy to history to geology, philosophy became a fun hobby and we wrote quotes down from famous poets and movies and pinned them to the walls such as “Laugh hard, run fast, be kind” from Doctor Who, and “The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep.” by Robert Frost.

First Instance of Magic: I was five years old when my first instance of accidental underaged wandless magic happened, it was when I was running around some trees and tried to climb one, the branch was too high for me to reach but my magic kicked in and the root that I was standing on suddenly came slightly out of the ground and got me high enough to reach the branch.

Character Special Race/Talent: Metamorphmagus. Application:
Reducio
My paternal grandma, Emma Clarke, was a Metamorphmagus, a race passed down to her from her grandfather John Burke. Of this I was very proud.
John Burke was born in 1864, in London, England, to a wizarding family living in a small village. There is a story, a “tall tale” my mum calls it, that when John was born, he had long blonde hair, which resulted in confusion as John’s parents thought him to be a girl and named him Rose. His name was later changed to John, after he was found out to be a male.
The Metamorphmagus race was passed down to my paternal great grandma (Emma Clarke’s mother), Molly Burke, and later passed down to grandma Emma Clarke. It skipped my dad Jerry, and passed down to me. None of my siblings inherited the ability. I was told that when I was born, I had hot pink hair, and thirty minutes later it was brown and my nose was significantly bigger. I did not like hearing that story. It made me feel embarrassed
When I was a little kid of 8, we (mum, dad, me, Helena, Ted and Alice) would go to visit grandma Emma a lot. We would arrive at the front door, I would knock, and the door was always opened by a different person from my point of view. This resulted in some crying and shouting on the first visits, but later I learned to recognize grandma’s most common appearances and stopped wailing in fright.
There were always stories for grandma to tell us. My favorite ones were about my dad and his brother Scott, who planned some mischievous plans, sneaked around the house to carry out the plans, and then get joined by their “sister” Mira. Grandma would then change back into her regular appearance and catch them in the act. Those stories always made me and Helena laugh out loud.
My appearance always caused a great deal of laughter wherever we were, whether the living room, supermarket, or just walking around the village. My appearance differed by age and by emotion: when I was 5 YO, I was usually with purple shiny hair. When 9, I had freckles and white hair. All this resulted in my emotions. I am still amazed by the changes ones emotions can make in his or her appearance.
There were a couple of flaws in my being a Metamorphmagus, mainly the fact that when I was angry or embarrassed, my whole appearance changed. When I was angry my hair turned a spiky red or my eyes would look empty and black. When I was embarrassed, my whole face turned crimson, and my hair paled and turned a deathly white. The other flaw was the headaches. Each time I turned appearance by mistake, my whole head would feel dizzy and full of electricity.
Each time I changed appearance by mistake, my sister Helena would shriek and shout with fear, even though this lessened with time, she was still very frightened from my ability. Older brother and sister became used to it over time, and they did not shout even the first time.
My whole family was very supportive in my journey, whether I needed a shoulder to cry on, or a mum to hug, and for that I love them very much.

Character Backstory:
Reducio
I grew up in Cuckfield, England, in a loving household with my dad Jerry and my mum Jennifer, along with my 3 siblings: Alice, Ted, and Helena. In our house there was no such thing as hate, but if my parents wanted to punish someone, they would tell him off gently with no shouting involved. All of my family members loved me very much.
I would play with Helena mostly, but sometimes all of us including mum and dad would sit down and play a game. I really enjoyed those evenings.
I had 3 good friends who lived close to us in the wizarding community in Cuckfield, Harriet, Chuck, and Melissa. They were all my best friends. We would play and laugh all day, and sometimes even make up our own games. Each day I would wake up at 8 PM, eat some breakfast, study a bit wizarding history with mum who insisted on it, play with Helena or with Melissa, eat lunch, and go back out to play. When it was time for bed my parents were extremely strict.
Both my dad and mum come from wizarding communities in England, and both their families date a long way back to the almost the earliest witch and wizard.
Harriet and Chuck would usually play together, as they were the "big kids".

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
One day when I was 5, me and Helena were fighting over a toy broomstick, each one tugging harder and harder at the end she held, and suddenly I was so angry that gold, hot sparks filled the air around Helena. She ran away to call mum while I stood there, shocked by what had happened.

- As a child, you wouldn't be able to control your appearance shift (e.g. "I liked having this colour hair at this age"); it would be unintentional and accidental, usually emotion-based, and only when you start getting to Hogwarts would you finally be able to control it a little bit. Character Statistics:
Stamina - 6 | Evasion - 6 | Strength - 2
Wisdom - 7 | Arcane Power - 4| Accuracy - 5
Character Backstory:
Reducio
Carys Owen, Alfie's mother, had been a clever working-class Welsh girl with a bright future. She completed a pre-medical degree at Bangor University in 2014 and had already been accepted to begin the Graduate Entry Medicine Program at Swansea in September. To celebrate her accomplishment she treated herself to a week in Ibiza. It was there that she met a charismatic and extremely attractive Spanish man named Alfonso. Their chemistry had been undeniable, their compatibility less so, and between their personality mismatch and the language barrier it became evident that there would be no need to continue the relationship past the holiday. For that reason, Alfie’s mother never learned that Alfie’s father was a wizard, let alone a metamorphmagus.

On the discovery of her pregnancy, Carys has no choice but to drop out of medical school and to return to Holyhead. She moved back in with her parents, retirees on a very limited income. Carys’ father, Daf Owen, had been a factory worker until Anglesey Aluminum shut down in 2009, leaving him unemployed or underemployed for the rest of his working years. Carys’ mother, Gwyneth, had been a homemaker who, after her husband’s layoff, had been forced into a series of low-paying service jobs until even those dried up.

Alfie grew up in these somewhat stretched financial circumstances. Past his first year, his mother was often away from home working her new career as a home care support worker. This position necessitated long hours, with sleep-in shifts and temporary live-in assignments a regular occurrence. During the times she was home, she was often sleeping to prepare for a late shift, or simply preoccupied with chores and bills. Alfie only rarely received the undivided attention from her that he craved. Instead, Alfie’s grandparents took on a more active role in raising him. His curmudgeonly grandfather was nearly always on hand to deliver lectures on responsibility and the benefits of perseverance, but he was also Alfie’s fishing buddy and the person he turned to for manly advice. Alfie’s grandmother had a more nurturing role. She became, for all intents and purposes, his primary caretaker. She also encouraged Alfie’s creativity, and filled his head with stories of mythic heroes, magical realms, and faerie folk. One of Alfie’s favorite stories concerned a supposed ancestor, a seal maiden who left her watery realm and put aside her seal skin in order to marry a mortal man. His grandmother told him that faerie blood still ran in his veins today, something he was prone to speculate on any time he experienced something peculiar. Alfie’s grandmother remained his closest relative until her death in December of 2025.

When on his own, Alfie wandered the island looking for something to do. Holyhead was a city in decline, with boarded-up businesses, derelict buildings, and friends that moved away when their parents sought greater opportunities further inland. Alfie occupied himself with fishing off the breakwater, biking the paths of Mynydd Twr, or exploring the coastal cliffs, and anywhere he’d been told he shouldn’t go. On Holyhead’s many bad weather days, Alfie found himself in his attic bedroom engrossed in a book while the rain blown in from the Irish sea lashed against his dormer window.

Alfie’s life had been a mix of fantastic dreams and dreary reality. He hoped that Hogwarts would be his golden ticket to opportunity and a better future.
(562 words)

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Alfie’s metamorphic heritage meant that there had been vague hints of his gift from an early age, but these had been too insignificant to attract the attention of magical authorities, and were dismissed or explained away by any muggle who might have witnessed them.

His first real instance of magic, and the one that alerted the Ministry of his presence, occurred when he was six-years-old. He’d been caught in a lie, a fairly frequent occurrence, but this time, after Alfie's grandmother had scolded him and he had been suitably apologetic, she had added that if he didn't stop fibbing that his nose was going to grow like Pinocchio's and get stuck that way.

This sounded like one of her fantastic stories, but Alfie was concerned enough to check a mirror once he was alone. To Alfie's horror, his nose began growing before his very eyes. He was too upset and ashamed to risk anyone seeing his grotesquely lengthened nose. So he spent the rest of the day in bed hiding, with covers pulled over his head. He refused to leave his room, even when called down to tea. He was still there late that night, when his mother got home from work. She must have been tipped off by his grandparents, because she immediately came up to Alfie’s room and took a seat on the edge of Alfie’s bed waiting for some explanation. Her patience and his shame eventually drew out a full confession, but he delivered it from under his blankets.

"Sounds like someone has a guilty conscience," she said wryly before pulling back the covers. By this time all she saw was a very ordinary nose, as Alfie’s unintentional transformation was too weak to last for such an extended period. Alfie's mother chalked up the incident to Alfie’s fertile imagination. On the other hand, Alfie found he couldn't easily dismiss the memory of what he had seen, nor rule out his own growing conviction that something was wrong with him.

Character Special Race/Talent: Metamorphmagus
Reducio
There had been hints of Alfie’s gift almost from the moment of his birth. But these instances had been subtle or fleeting, and as they were observed only by muggles who didn’t believe in magic, they were dismissed as natural occurrences or an optical illusion, or possibly just misremembering or fancy. “You ought to have seen the faces you pulled when you were upset!" his mother told him. "It was like you were a different baby entirely.”

There was also a confusion over his hair color in his first year, when the sparse wisps of baby hair had seemed to change from day to day. “But that was only because there were so few hairs, you see,” his mother explained. “Once there were enough of them I knew you’d be dark like your father.” Though his full head of black curls had seemed to appear all at once, his grandmother pointed out, as if they had grown rapidly overnight. “That just happens sometimes with babies,” they both concluded without suspicion. There was nothing peculiar about it.

His eyes had also been a subject of controversy. Were they blue? Were they grey? Were they hazel? All perfectly natural colors, but everyone seemed to remember something different, until, in the midst of a Sunday dinner table debate, his grandfather had insisted they all go into the garden to get a good look at Alfie’s eyes where the light was better. He’d wanted to prove, once and for all, that he had the right to it. Alfie’s eyes were green, like his. Only they hadn’t been. After they had all squinted and squinted again, Alfie’s eyes were determined to be blue, or possibly a blueish-greyish-greenish hazel. In the end, it was declared that Alfie's eyes were just peculiar. They had an odd sort of quality that made them look differently depending on the light. This was also quite normal, they insisted to each other. They believed it too.

It was not until Alfie’s first instance of real magic (see above) that the situation took an unexpected turn. The household was visited by a person who called himself a muggle liaison officer, but only Alfie’s grandmother had been there to receive him. After surprisingly little convincing that magic was real, she was made aware of Alfie’s unique gift and possible special talent. She passed along the information later to her husband and daughter, filtered through her own background and vocabulary until it sounded more like the ancient stories from Welsh mythology, something that virtually no one believed anymore. It was taken as a massive and elaborate delusion by her less imaginative family.

The consensus belief, which was confirmed by a muggle doctor, was that Mrs. Owen was suffering from dementia, or as Mr. Owen expressed it, she was “gancyn yn brin o'r cant” (a penny short of a hundred). This diagnosis was sad, but not unsurprising at her age, and because she seemed capable otherwise, and was no danger to herself or Alfie, they were able to politely nod and smile any time she apprised them of further visits from ‘the man in the fireplace’, or explained what she had learned about Alfie and his gifts. Of course, Alfie would have to be told of his grandmother’s affliction before she got to him, or he might have started believing his grandmother’s stories. Alfie’s relationship with the truth was already suspect. (He was a frequent liar) It would be a disaster if he actually believed his grandmother’s tales and started introducing himself as one of y tylwyth teg (the fair family). It would be like the time he told his year one classmates that his father was a famous rugby player. He was still living down that lie, a claim to faerie magic would brand him for life.

“You’ve got to understand that your nain is getting on in years,” his mother had confided to him, in uncharacteristically gentle tones. “I know you love her and her stories, but they are just that. Stories. Your nain knows that too, deep down. She just gets confused. She doesn’t mean to, but she can’t help it. So, if she tells you, for instance, about magical men popping out of the fireplace, or that she is descended from selkies, or that faerie magic is in your blood, or anything crazy like that, well you mustn’t mind it.”

She’d concluded by telling him to let her know if Nain got ‘too bad’ so she could do something about it. But Alfie remembered stories of some of his mother’s patients, who had been put away by their families, too far away for his mother to go on treating them. He didn't want the same thing to happen to his own grandmother so he resolved to keep her eccentricities to himself.

In the end, his nain didn't change all that much. If anything, he thought her stories just became better, especially the ones about himself. Alfie could only wish that they were actually real. But everything else about his drab existence in a depressing little town told him that fantastic things don’t really happen to people. He was not to find out otherwise for a number of years.

Of course, there were a few other peculiar happenings in the intervening years. They mostly happened in moments of stress or heightened emotion. Alfie occasionally thought he was losing his grasp on reality, a bit like his grandmother had done. But unnatural things just don’t happen, or so he was constantly told. The glitches, as he started to think of them, almost never happened with witnesses, or if they did, he might notice a cocked head or a strange look before the person shook their head or rubbed their eyes, before muttering to themselves, or declaring that it was nothing. Similarly, on the rare instances when Alfie caught a strange face looking back at him from a mirror, the ‘illusion’ was fleeting and he was left only slightly disquieted before laughing at his own credulity.

The long awaited paradigm shift came not long after Alfie’s grandmother died. Her illness began in December of Alfie’s tenth year. She was dead and buried before the new year. The family’s grief was immense, with each of them struggling in some way. In March, his grandfather declared that the best way to process their grief was to pack away her things and ‘move on with it.’ Alfie found this sentiment callous as if he were expected to forget her too soon. So, when his grandfather stepped out for a smoke, Alfie snuck into his grandparents’ bedroom to look at her things for one last time. His grandfather’s return came sooner than expected and Alfie was caught red-faced and ashamed, both because of the privacy violation and because he knew his grandfather was also grieving. His grandfather was angry, but worse he shouted, “Who are you? What are you doing in my house?” Alfie was unaware that his face was not just red, but that it had changed just enough as to be unrecognizable. Alfie tried to stammer out some excuse, but whatever he said was incomprehensible to his grandfather who eventually calmed enough to decide that the trespassing boy was one of Alfie’s friends. “This is not a good time. Come back tomorrow,” he told him, ushering him out the door. “I’ll tell Alfie you were here.” And there had been nothing Alfie could say to get his grandfather to see him for who he was.

Alfie’s emotions continued to spiral in the hours that followed. He didn’t know what to do. He could only suppose that his grandfather was suffering from the same dementia that took his grandmother. Later however, when both the clerk at Realm of Nerds and the manager of the Top G Store had failed to know him, Alfie was forced to accept that it wasn’t dementia, unless dementia was something you could catch when you were ten.

He returned home as the sky darkened and waited on the stoop for his mother’s return from work. The street lights had come on before she finally arrived. Alfie stood expectantly when she approached the front door. “Can I help you?” she asked, looking at him blankly. Alfie began to cry, and when his confused mother gave him an awkward pat and offered to call his mum for him, Alfie ran away. Later, he returned but found himself locked out. He was forced to spend the night shivering in the garden shed. The next day everyone knew him again, but it left Alfie with a creepy disassociated feeling. This feeling only increased when, within the same week, the Owens were visited by strangers who called themselves muggle liaisons.

To make a long story short, and to dispense with several unsuccessful attempts to convince them, Alfie and his family were eventually forced to accept the following hard truths:
  • Magic was real.
  • Alfie was a wizard.
  • Alfie was also something called a metamorphmagus, which meant that all the glitches in his appearance was something he was doing, though inexpertly and possibly even illegally.
  • That if he didn’t get his talent under control, he would be in a lot of trouble.
  • That the only thing for it was proper training at a proper wizard school
  • They even had some scheme to help them pay for it. So no excuses.
  • Also, that it was mad that they didn’t know all this already.
The confusion about that last bit was cleared up eventually. Alfie’s mother was Ms. C. Owen, and not the Mrs. G. Owen who had been talking to a previous liaison. Mrs. G. Owen was Alfie’s grandmother who apparently wasn’t a nutter after all. Even the crazy story his nain’s family had passed down about being descended from a seal woman apparently contained a grain of truth. The liaisons thought it was completely possible to have a witch of some kind way back in Alfie’s mother’s family.

"Your son’s gift is hereditary and only presents in magical bloodlines. The maternal gene may be weak, given how long you say it’s been since anyone in the family has presented as magical. The boy’s father is almost certainly the greater influence. We would expect a full wizard, if not a metamorphmagus himself. It would be helpful if we could identify him. Are you certain you can't tell us anything more? He would undoubtedly be registered with the Spanish Ministry, but without a surname—”

In the end, it was decided that tracking down Alfie’s father wasn’t necessary. He would receive magical guidance for his meta issues soon enough at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Character Backstory: Back in the Early 2000's Arduino's mother migrated to the UK from her hometown of Padua, Italy, to be with her husband whom she fell in love with during college. While their home was always full of love and energy, money was never in large supply, so they ended up living in council housing from very early on.

That didn't stop his mother from popping out five kids, with Deeno being the one smack dab in the middle.

Celestina
Mateo
Arduino
Tino (Antonio) (twin)
Tati (Tatiana) (twin)

He never really had anything of his own growing up. Hand me downs to giving up his own things as the kids grew up, but he didn't really mind. The amount of Love they all shared for one another smothered out his resentment for lack of attention over all, as his Siblings were more than happy to do anything with him. Unfortunately this has led him to having very few friends his own age, as his siblings have 99.8% of his attention.

He would consider himself an average kid with a love of roller skates and slime, and does his best to keep good grades to atleast grab the title of 'smartest' child so far.

Now that he's been invited to Hogwarts, he *finally* feels special among all of the other children and has been humble bragging about it, making promises to show his siblings so many cool things when he comes back!

First Instance of Magic: Deeno was around 6 years old when he had his first instance of magic.

He and his 4 siblings were all lounging around the house in Romford,London being being babysat by the eldest, Celestina. While the oldest two were Playing Mario cart, he was entertaining the two baby twins, Tino and Tati, on top of his bunkbed.

Why were they up there? Well, that's because Celestina and Mateo knew they couldn't get down, and wouldn't bother them with their game!

The bed did not have railings, and after too many peek-a-boos and giggles, Arduino leaned back a little too far and fell right off!

Rather than falling and ended up bruised or with any bumps, he seemed to have just bounced off the floor and into their older siblings that were nearby.

While everyone was okay, no one knew how they managed to bounce 10 feet across the room. All the siblings (who could speak) agreed not to talk about it, ever.

Character Backstory:
Reducio
Núria (Rhea) was born on November 2nd of 2014 in Barcelona, Spain to Aniol Serra-Alsius and Laia Ona Coromines-Masdevall on what could only be described as a dreary day.
Her parents had adored her from the start, though perhaps one more intrigued about who this small being might turn out to be. And though Aniol and Laia could never tell, they certainly played a role in how mistrustful she grew to be.
For the first six years of her life she was happily raised in Barcelona by her two loving parents and a whole host of relatives. Aniol’s relatives {Serra-Alsius} were more distant, shallow at a glance, but that is merely an illusion. They raised him to be proficient at most things save for relations. The Serra-Alsius couple were a quiet pair, viewing Rhea with curious eyes, paired with something she could hardly describe. A mix of weariness, sadness, nostalgia, and heartfelt emotion that Rhea wishes she had a name for. Quite a name it would have to be, indeed.
The Coromines-Masdevall family, on the other hand, were a loving, albeit rowdy, lot. She would never want to try and count the cousins, knowing there would always be some sick, or another one on the way. Laia had four sisters and a lonesome brother, almost all married with at least one kid. {The Coromines family will remain unnamed at this time, too many Spanish/Catalan names I don't wanna come up with/find.}
In September of 2021 {Rhea age 6} the Serra-Coromines promptly started packing for England after a hurried visit from her paternal grandparents. Rhea was never told why they abruptly moved, save for thinly veiled excuses about ‘job opportunities’ and ‘change in scenery’. It’s a far away memory in her mind now, with her only remembering the fact that they moved, and a lot of fragmented memories of Barcelona. Spain was only an origin point for the wandering Catalan girl. England was the next stop, not the destination by any means. The world feared she was just getting started.
Núria and her parents moved to Santon Downham, a village and civil parish located in Suffolk, England, nestled within Thetford Forest on the Norfolk-Suffolk border. Of course, Núria had no clue what any of that meant other than new, scary, and village. For the first while they stayed in an unassuming tent just in the forest, claiming to the locals they were just camping through the countryside. Of course, they were planning for a much longer stay indeed.
During the few weeks it took them to pack up and leave Barcelona, construction plans had started on a house just into the woods near the small village. Aniol and Laia took some creative liberties and helped in the architectural design even amidst the rush and stress of quickly relocating. Some poor local muggles had their memories altered slightly to accommodate for the new surprise of a house showing up just on the outskirts. There were also a heavy amount of concealment charms placed around the house so it was avoided by the majority of the village's muggle populace.
Santon Downham was a place where Rhea’s lonely anti-social tendencies flourished. She had social skills, yes, but her want for solitude was only encouraged by her parents, even if not consciously. Her father fancied himself to be a sort of scholar or poet. He also had a tendency towards Defense Against the Dark Arts, which likely prompted his becoming an Auror. Rhea’s mother, on the other hand, was a seamstress. Often Laia would spend hours in her sewing room, humming to herself and sewing. It wasn’t anything special, but it was occasionally heartfelt and loving, if lonely.
The matter of Rhea’s schooling was taken up by both of her parents in turn, her mother teaching her the finer things; music, sewing, and craftsmanship of all sorts, including Rhea’s distraction of choice: woodcarving. Aniol gave Núria the lessons she needed in the more core subjects. Arithmetic, basic history, some science, and a whole abundance of literature. Literature was something Núria and her father bonded over, even through their different levels of understanding. Perhaps because of it. Aniol also taught his daughter her fair share of muggle culture, however varying it was. Despite loving solitude himself, he understood that Rhea could not be holed up in the nest of their home forever. She would need to make friends with the other kids in the village and, eventually, Hogwarts. That would still be for a while, of course, so he didn’t worry too much.
Another way Rhea spent her solitude was through teaching herself piano. Her mother had taught the basics that she herself had learned as a young girl, but Núria pursued it further. A year or two after moving to England they had acquired a grand piano for their rather sparse living room. The whole house was rather sparse, actually, save for their rooms and spaces in which their distractions of choice were practiced. Núria became quite good at her craft, her long practice sessions serving as background music to the saddened lives her family lived out. She was partial to the more difficult pieces, seeking a challenge where everything was only a matter of time.
Magic had been introduced into Núria’s life a mere few months after leaving Spain, prompting many a long lecture from her father about magical theory and keeping a hold of her emotions so she wouldn’t break anything.
why they actually moved (for index purposes !): The family of Rhea's godfather (Ferran Tallaferro! rip) started suspecting Aniol (her father) of having murdered Ferran, and continued to show up at their old house demanding him to say he did it even though he didn't. While Aniol was quite suspicious, and a main suspect, Ferran's death was actually due to a horribly failed apparation.
First Instance of Magic: I love writing little Rhea<3
Reducio
Soon after moving into their new house, Núria had her first instance of magic. It was early morning, and Rhea was still wandering about the house and poking at her nose. Her father, Aniol, had told her the story of Pinocchio the night prior, prompting Rhea to obsessively try to tell the truth and nothing besides it, so as to keep her nose the normal shape. Her father was standing in the kitchen, presumably making breakfast with the windows open, letting in fresh air and birdsong. Unreasonably picturesque, but six-year-old Núria just stomped right in and demanded answers. Odd answers, from the view of her father, but answers nonetheless. She had passed her mother in the hall that morning, to which she was greeted with 'good morning, Núria' and a smile.
But was it really a good morning? How could her mother tell?
"Papa, is it actually a good morning for everyone? Or do people just say that to be nice?"
"Well, I suppose that is up to you. Are you having a good morning?"
"No." Rhea said it quite resolutely, even though she knew it was wrong. A petty child, if her father ever knew one.
Aniol crouched down in front of her, ruffling her hair before poking her... nose? Núria went a little cross eyed. Surely her nose was not that long! Her hands went up to poke and bat at it, wondering if the tale she was told last night was actually true. But after looking bewildered at her father, it had dissapeared back to normal.
"Papa, I think I'm dreaming. Wake me up when things are less wacky."

Aurelia Delorme's motto is after a storm look for rainbows because that is what she has spent her life doing trying to look on the bright side. She was born in France to Miss Layla Dubois and Mr Charles Delorme. Miss Layla was a local girl from the village of Rochefort-en-Terre. Mr Delorme was an upshot man from London, and a very rich one at that. He was to be married in a year. When she was born Aurelia, was taken to England by her father. He hadn't want to her but his family threatened to disown him and he hadn't yet reached aristocrat status. She moved to England on the 22 of October 2014. One month after her birth. Her stepmother hates her but nothing was worse than her spoiled half-sister Audrey who is one year younger When Aurelia was only 5 Audrey (her sister) already laughed at her and called her names. School was always her place to shine. Classes enchanted her. Maths, English and Sience she loved them all. No matter her age she knew who her people were she knew whowere good friends and who would stab her in the back. In the summer, she visits her mum. Her mum's side is pureblood she has massive family gathering for the whole summer. Food, family and love. Things she doesn't have at home. The house she grew up in was big but her room was tiny. It was a servant's quarters in the 17th century. Her bathroom was nothing but a 18th century water closet. She ate after her parents and sister. Their scraps were her dinner. Cold soup, and cold meat. Nothing too special, but in France there was more food that she could ever imagine.

When she was 8 years old her sister was teasing about her hair colour (Audrey often dies her hair) when suddenly Audrey's hair which was at the time bright pink became grey for a few hours.

Reason for Pending:
- It appears that you have mistaken the veela application for your backstory in the form. Please correct this and include the actual backstory in the application form as well, and make sure it reaches 220 words. Also, since your character's nationality doesn't match up with her residence, please include in the backstory the reason your character would have moved to England and when or tell us if this needs to be changed.
- Since it has been more than 30 days since validation, it is unable to apply for a Special Race. Please remove the mentions of being a part-Veela.
- The date of birth is incorrect for a first year student at Hogwarts. For your character to be a first year at Hogwarts during the 2026-2027 academic school year, your character's date of birth must be on any day between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015. Please change your character's date of birth accordingly to reflect this.
- Your encyclopaedia is missing a trunk post. Please see this link for more information on how to make a trunk post.
STATUS: Pending, Milica, 18 August
Reasons for pending:
- Thank you for making most the changes. We will however need some more words for the backstory, since the 220 minimum word count doesn't include the first instance of magic.
- Since you are now applying to be a regular witch, you have five more stat points you can contribute, adding up to a total of 35. It now adds up to 30. Please add 5 more.
- You mention your character moved to England in 2013 but your character is born in 2014. Please change this part of your backstory to align with your character's actual birth date.
