"I think we will. We're on the right path now," she smiled, sure of it. "And when we find him, we need to send him straight back to his mother. Artemindora worries so much about him. This castle is so large...he could get lost or mixed up in trouble that he need not be getting into!"
The two continued down a little more and Alina wanted to make conversation but wasn't sure exactly what the topic of conversation could be. Out of all the Hogwarts houses, Alina seemed to have the least in common with the Ravenclaws.
She could turn the the obvious although it was a little insensitive, but not necessarily. Alina really didn't mean anything bad by it, only curiosity and sometimes it was better to share differences and learn from one another. "How did the eye patch come about?" she asked her. She said it with a nice tone and hoped she wouldn't insult the girl as that was never her intention in the slightest.
It was a unique quality, not a deficiency, at least thats how Alina saw it. She had enough deficiencies herself like not being all that quick-witted or intelligent when it came to her classes. Not to mention the fact that some people just found her to be annoying. Those were deficiencies.

-------☆-------@Alina RosierClaudia didn’t want to lead the duo in the wrong direction so she followed the paw prints in the painting. If Orion really was a painting, then that would be the right way to go. “Erm... this way?” she questioned, seemingly taking the lead. “I do hope we find Orion soon.” she said spontaneously. Though it was a random comment, she really was afraid for the poor thing. Which led her to question how Alina’s knew they were on the right path. To be completely honest with herself, Claudia thought that Alina had just been roaming through the corridors with no idea as to where she was going. Alina certainly seemed to be going the right way but... Claudia couldn’t say for sure.
“I think we will. We're on the right path now,” the Hufflepuff girl said, shattering Claudia’s doubts about their direction, “And when we find him, we need to send him straight back to his mother. Artemindora worries so much about him. This castle is so large...he could get lost or mixed up in trouble that he need not be getting into!”
Claudia nodded and sighed, her previous thoughts forgotten. It was probably true what Alina and said - not that she’s had any doubts that Orion wasn’t as the girl made him out to be - considering that cats were typically curious and tended to get in trouble because of their curiosity. In some ways, Claudia could almost imagine that she herself was a cat! Both her and the animal were curious, quiet, and independent - just Claudia didn’t usually get in trouble.
Usually.
They continued down the hallway some more in silence. Claudia didn’t mind the silence one bit, but it did seem kind of... off. One part probably was the she was side-by-side with a Hufflepuff girl - who she considered to be in the most talkative house. But the other part... Claudia couldn’t help but think that Alina was holding something back. Something was on the top of her tongue, yet she was afraid to say it. Claudia almost opened her mouth to speak when she came the realization that should have come to her minutes ago.
What was the one thing clouded in secrets so thick that if you touched the fog, it seemed solid? What was the one thing that Claudia couldn’t bear to tell the truth about? What was the one thing that always seemed off about her? Claudia would have slapped herself for not understanding sooner.
Her eye patch. Of course it was that. What else could it have been? The vampiric looking girl tried to brace herself for the inevitable question. The one lying on everyone’s tongue, the one that always seems to break through her barrier and surprise her every time. The only question that seemed to penetrate her mask and expose her for even a split second!
“How...” Alina started. There it was, the girl’s mouth was forming it. If Claudia was less polite she might have slapped her hand over the Hufflepuff’s mouth to avoid the words being spoken out loud. “did the eye patch come out?”
Claudia winced and her heart started to race. For a brief second, she stopped walking beside the girl and stopped in one spot, but she quickly regained her composure. Her face returned to normal and she sped up to return to her place, but her heart never slowed. “Oh! Uh... um.” she said, then swallowed and took a slightly shaky breath in and out. “The... er, eye patch? Well, this was when’s I wasn’t young and stupid so don’t e-expect logic here y’know.
“So after my magic accident occurred I was super psyched for Hogwarts. Thought I would get my letter soon, that I was a child prodigy, and that they would let me in even though I wasn’t eleven. I practically begged my parents to take me to Diagon Alley and look at all the animals and such - they agreed. It was a fun vacation for me I guess and I really, really wanted to get my wand so that I could do magic. My parents thought I was joking and pulled me along to get ice cream. But my hand slipped. Seeing the opportunity I ran off and entered Ollivanders. I was small and hid behind someone who was actually getting their supplies, took a wand off the shelf, and gave it a whirl. The wand backfired because I had it backwards and... I... well...” Claudia looked away for a bit and stopped talking, making her performance more believable.
“As I said, it backfired. I don’t like to talk about it really.” she lied, though the last part was the truth. She really didn’t like to talk about it. To be reminded she was a... a freak.
Claudia felt a tiny bit of guilt in her defensive heart for lying to the Hufflepuff, but thought nothing of it. It would come to pass. “S-so... yeah.” she said, not knowing how to turn around the conversation.-------☆-------

She said she really didn't like to talk about it and now Alina felt awful for asking about it. She nodded and gave Claudia a bit of a smile, appreciating the honesty though in her answer. Everyone had their shortcomings though and she hoped Claudia wasn't too self-conscious about it. She had sight in only one eye. Alina was short compared to her classmates. Everyone had something.
"Watch it!" a male voice could be heard nearby, just down a ways in the corridor. There was no one there though and at first that perplexed Alina until she looked over to Claudia and smiled. It must have been one of the portraits talking! She quickened her pace and saw three men in one portrait, all moving to one side and then a small meow could be heard.
"Wait! Please!" she spoke to the portraits, "don't let him leave. Get him," and the men looked to the two students before one reached down, picking something up and when he rose there was a small kitten in his hands. "What's it to you?" he asked, a little confrontational.
Alina ignored it though and just looked to the kitten. "Rion....your mum is worried sick about you. Why are you wandering around this castle by yourself? You need to get back, Sir."

-------☆-------@Alina RosierAfter Claudia had token yet another one of her fake stories, she felt a bit of guilt. It hadn’t been her fault that the Hufflepuff was so easily susceptible to her lies - it was just the girl’s personality, or maybe Claudia had just learned from her previous mistakes. However, Hufflepuffs were very loyal and didn’t expect anyone to lie, and for that... for taking advantage of that fact meant that Claudia was a monster. Alina smiled at her and nodded, as if she understood. Claudia was expecting her to say something, but someone cut in before the other girl could.
“Watch it!” a male voice shouted gruffly nearby. The direction seemed a bit down the corridor. Claudia saw no one there and Alina looked over and smiled knowingly. The girls then quickened their pace to see what the matter was.
As Claudia reached looked to the side, she instantly saw three men in a painting. They were moving to one side where a small meow could be heard. “Wait! Please!” Alina said frantically, “Don’t let him leave. Get him.” Claudia raised her eyebrow at the girl as one of the men reached down and emerged with a small kitten in hand.
“What’s it to you?” he said bluntly, as if he was afraid that the tiny kitten would be hurt. Claudia’s heart warmed up a slightly when she remembered that even something as so small (quite literally and figuratively) as a kitten could change a man’s heart. Cats really did change people’s point of view.
Alina ignored the man and looked to the kitten instead... the kitten who just so happened to have the same exact markings that Claudia was supposed to have looked for. “Rion... your mum is worried sick about you. Why are you wandering around this castle by yourself? You need to get back, Sir.”
Claudia’s eye widened as she realized that Alina was talking to the kitten. So that was the legendary Orion, cutest of kittens, amazingly fluffy ball of fluff? ...He was cuter than she expected.
Wait a minute... she thought as her brain caught up to her sight. THAT was the legendary Orion? ORION WAS A PAINTING?! Claudia let out a muffled shriek, putting her hand over her rebellious mouth. Claudia mentally freaked out. So she had been following a painting all this time?! Did that mean she was following a hidden psychopath? Did Alina have the illusion that Orion was real? Claudia snuck a sideways glance to the girl, still talking with the man in the painting. Did Alina think that she herself was a painting? Claudia quickly debated the odds of Alina actually being a psychopath.
The odds made her More frantic.
If Alina was actually a psycho she had hidden it well. Claudia hadn’t expected the Hufflepuff to be that good at tricking her, though she learned something new every day. Was she inside the school pretending to be sane just so that she could secretly plot a plot to overthrow the headmaster and put Orion in his place? Honestly she wouldn’t mind a cat being the headmaster... just... it would be kind of hard to, well, understand.
Maybe Alina thought she could actually understand the cat and that he could understand her and that maybe with her help Orion would lead! She could actually be pulling the strings and no one would know because they would be too in shock that a cat was their new headmaster. Alina was planning to take over Hogwarts and Claudia was the only one who knew it!
Claudia’s voice was shaky when she said, “Ow, wow, Orion’s really cute.” For a kitten who’s going to take over Hogwarts, her mind added.-------☆-------

"He is cute, isn't he? I think that's his problem," she said as the cat paced back and forth in front of them in his current painting, as if to almost mock them because he wasn't in the correct painting. "I think he knows he's cute and he flaunts it. Look at him right now," she shook her head. It was ridiculous. "Really, Rion. You NEED to get back. You've had your fun but it's time to go back to your mother." Alina pointed her finger to the painting and the kitten stopped pacing, its ears going back slightly in shame.
Alina turned her gaze over to Claudia. "Can you believe this guy? Trying to make me feel guilty for scolding him. He needs a good scolding now and again, don't you think? He's impossible!" She looked back to the painting. "Go on then. Back the way you came."
The kittens slowly began to walk to the left, soon disappearing from the frame, only to show up on the next painting on the wall. "That's it. That's a good boy," she tried to encourage him. She stepped closer to the other painting and watched as he kept on walking.
"Thank you for helping me find him. Once it took HOURS! He somehow made his way to the Fourth Floor and was outside the girls' lavatory."
