Aurora winced at the sound of the old door as she opened the door slowly in attempt to not making the door shriek even louder. Aurora had been begging for a pygmy puff to her mom, Lilian, all year, but always got no for the answers. Thanks to Josh or the stepfather help, Aurora will finally get her little furry friend in her second year instead because of a little drama she made with him, during the Easter break. Without her knowing, her mom had planned a whole secret ‘bonding’ mission for the two of them. Lilian pretended to have a phone call and told Aurora to go with her stepfather to the magical menagerie without her, but the brown haired kid wasn’t dim witted. She knew pretty well that technology does not work in the wizarding world, but she decided to go along with it since she had promised to ‘behave’ and give her stepfather a chance.

Once she stepped into the magical menagerie, she was awed with all the cute animals inside. Almost forgetting her purpose of getting a cat, her eyes glued to the shiny feather of a white snowy owl. “Such a beautiful owl! You sure you don’t want to get the owl instead, little witch?” The beautiful owl tempted her to get an owl instead. But, she remembered the number of times her mother’s owl tried to bit her fingers off of her hand, maybe it was not a good idea to get another fingers eaters. “I still love my fingers, no thanks.” She said it almost coldly, not even sharing a glance towards the step father. In all honesty, Josh just wanted to made her open up and be a proper functional family. He clapped his hand together and lightly chuckled, “Finally, my little witch has a sense of humour!” Though, Aurora did not seem impressed by his quick remark. He awkwardly looked around the shop to get away from Aurora’s signature death stare. “Okay, cat? Where’s the cat? There!” Hastily pointed out his finger in a random direction, too bad the shopkeeper decided that it was the best time for her to showed her warm smile. “Oh wait, that’s the shopkeeper”

It was a good thing that the old lady was not evil even though there was a little part of Aurora that wished she would be enraged and hex her muggle step father. “Yes, indeed, I am not a cat. Good day and welcome, Mr-?” She paused for a bit, waiting for Josh to give her an answer, “Joshua Alloway, just call me Josh.” The shopkeeper nodded, “Ah! Mr Alloway, and hello miss Alloway-“ The eagle did not like that one bit. She glared at the nice lady and cut her sentence midway “Ranvier” If it was somebody else, Aurora will come out from the menagerie with some bandages and no cat. But that day was her luck, apparently “Ah, miss Ranvier! I am Anita Witticker, you can call me whatever you like, what can I help you with?”

She was so much shorter than Josh, maybe their height difference was around one foot, perhaps more. But Aurora was so much smaller, it made Joshua looking like a half giant. Maybe the wizarding world is suffering from short genes. “My daughter wants t-“ Again, the grumpy kid lightly hit Josh’s arm and tried to correct him, “Step daughter”. If anyone took a nice look at the whole interaction, there was a slight disappointment on his expression, but he quickly replaced it with a smile “Yes, my stepdaughter wants to get a furball with claws in the shape of a cat, Mrs Witticker” Anita, or the shopkeeper turned around and made a gesture to both Aurora and the step dad to follow her “A cat? Let’s go this way, shall we?”

And there he was, the most beautiful and glorious kitten anyone had ever seen. Some might call it ‘love at first sight’. But that was not the case for Aurora. She started to sneeze uncontrollably, it made her unable to speak. Her hand poked Joshua’s arm, then pointed at the cat, and did a thumbs up which can be translated as ‘That is such a cute cat, can I have that one?’. It was self explanatory, and Joshua was not a dumb guy. He asked Aurora to move away from the cat and let him take care of the whole transaction. The whole galleons thing made him confused, but in the end, he managed to bring the cat home for Aurora. Welcome to the adventure, Lucifur Morningsneeze.
