Con Mèo Solo pet

A small bell jingles as Aspen and her father step inside The Magical Menagerie, bringing cats, owls, and plenty of other animals to attention. The girl was gripping her father's hand excitedly, it is the last day of winter break and before sending her off to Hogwarts, her parents are letting Aspen pick out a pet! While her mother and grandmother are making sure Aspen has plenty of parchment and ink and such, her father is taking Aspen to the Menagerie.

Aspen circles the room as her father looks on, a smile on his face. She quickly decides the types of animals she does not want, Pygmy Puffs, rats, and lizards are all off of the table, and dogs and common birds are not allowed at school. That leaves owls and cats. Aspen bites her lip as she thinks. The school owls work just fine to deliver mail to and from home, and it is not like she has many friends to keep in touch with over the breaks, that being said- owls are the closest to the pet Aspen really wants, a Parakeet.

Aspen runs her fingers across an owl cage. She is not connecting with any of them in the way she wishes, yes some are cute, with their big eyes and round bodies, but none of them are her pet. Aspen looks over at her father in distress, who simply shrugs. The owners are occupied, talking to some older lady about cat food, and it is than when a kitten nips at Aspen's heels.

A little, red kitten with white-ish stripes looks up at Aspen. It is a look that Aspen falls in love with. Big, sparkling eyes, little whiskers, and a pointy nose. A wide smile spreads across Aspen's face as she kneels down to scratch the kitten's chin. A gentle purr comes from him, and at that moment, Aspen knows she has found her cat.

She waves her dad over, now cradling the cat in her arms. The two of them have a quick conversation over what to name it, before settling on Mèo. It is a simple name, meaning cat in Vietnamese, but it is perfect.

They grab some food and toys for Mèo as they work there way up to the counter where a kind looking witch greets them. They discuss the proper ways to take care of Mèo, and after a stern warning that he must be fed every day, she sends Aspen and her dad on there way back to the Leaky Cauldron to introduce Mèo to her mom and Grandmother, and now, Aspen has a skip in her step.
