Rained Out
Kyle had a simple plan for the weekend. Train for quidditch. However it seemed everything conspired against him. He woke up early from his pillow smothering him and it took 20 minutes to wrestle free and by then he was fully awake. When he went to get dressed it turned out Ariadne had decided to get cozy inside his leather jacket and Kyle wasn’t about to deserve the prettiest spider in the world. With a heavy sigh he slipped on a pair a faded jeans, a dark green Kestrals t-shirt and his boots before heading out
After the long walk out to the quidditch pitch l, Kyle arrived to the equipment shed to find the door locked. He banged his head against it defeat when a crack of thunder announced the heavy rain that soon came down upon him. Underslept, without his jacket, and now stuck in the rain he closed his eyes and contemplated the allure of setting the world on fire…alas he was bereft of a wand at the moment. Where did he put that thing? With much reluctance he turned and headed back to the castle
He was soaked down to his bones by the time Kyle arrived back at the castle, and even with his werewolf blood running hot, he still felt a bit of chill creeping into him. He walked into the hall and found a place to sit away from everyone else, slipped down into a sitting position and with a heavy thud planted his forehead securely on the table. Today was just one of those days

Rained Out
Dakota had planned to go skating today in the courtyard since people were now spending more time studying for upcoming tests and others spending more time with their friends the courtyard wasn’t as busy anymore, making it safer for her to enjoy it and safer for others. She had woken up later then expected to the sound of rain. Letting out a groan she pulled the curtains back from her bed and slipped up, changed out of her nightclothes and something more appropriate for the day before grabbing a wrap and resting it along her shoulders as well as grabbing a leather satchel and laying the strap of it along her right shoulder. Stepping gingerly along the floor she made her way out the Hufflepuff dorms, having left her skates behind as she guessed she would prefer not to get drenched and possibly injuring herself on the slippery stones.Stepping foot into the Small Hall Dakotas gaze searched the area, noticing not many people were there and supposing this would be a better place for her to hang around. Though as she made her way in her attention was brought towards a boy who was slumped over a table and basically drenched in what she presumed to be rain. This caused Dakota to smile a bit and her eyes softening, moving over towards him. Taking the wrap off her shoulders she rested it around him, being much bigger on Dakota then a normal wrap should be, it was almost big enough to completely fit the boy. Dakotas voice was quite sweet and soft, almost being able to be compared to what the taste of honey would sound like “you know you really shouldn’t remain soaked—you may get ill." her voice rung with amusement but she didn't seem to be making fun of the boy, instead trying to bring up his spirits.@ Kyle DeRook

Kyle looked up at the voice. The bags under his eyes revealed much about his poor sleeping habits, and if his sharp steel blue eyes weren’t unnerving enough the deep scar that ran from under his left eye to his jawline didn’t help matters much. He ran a hand through his long mess of hair to push out of his eyes, even with the few Viking braids it was clear he was losing the war with keeping it in check.
”Little water ain’t gonna hurt no one. Got bigger problems anyway. ‘Sides who the hell are you anyway?” his Irish accent was unmistakable, as was the rough and angry tone he spoke with. He rose, no longer in a slouched over position as he looked the other student over. It wasn’t a face he recognized, but surely this person had to know about him. Former captain of the quidditch team, monster beater, feared bully.
“I ain’t got the energy for beating you up today. Check back later in the week if you are that desperate for it” he sneered. His left hand was planted palm down on the table now, revealing not only the scar of the rune for wolf on the back of his hand but the scarred knuckles that showed he is no stranger to fighting.

Rained Out
Small Hall

To say Jackson hated the rain would be an outright lie.
It was apparent in the way Jackson sat at the window, staring at the droplets of water as they rushed past, or tracing the lines of the water as it raced towards the bottom of the glass. It was apparent in the way Jackson would stand out in the courtyard between classes when it rained, water droplets collecting on his gold rimmed glasses and soaking into his dark brown hair.
Rain was when Jackson was the most active, the most vibrant, because he didn’t have to worry about the slight sting that would come from the sun.
Being a dhampir meant Jackson was in love with the way the rain felt on his skin.
Of course, not everyone seemed to love it as much as Jackson did. The brown haired boy noticed the sopping wet quidditch player almost immediately when they stomped in, leaving a wet trail behind them. Jackson frowned a bit, staring down at his untouched mug of hot cocoa before sighing quietly to himself. The lanky twelve year old stood up with a start, throwing his messenger bag over one shoulder and picking up the mug.
As he approached the soaking gryffindor, Jackson took note of three things. One, the girl who had draped her wrapping-cloth-thingy over the annoyed young male. Two, the sudden aggression being shown from the taller, obviously older male towards the kind girl. How rude. All she wanted to do was help, obviously. And the slight smell of a wet dog. Jackson wrinkled his nose just a tad, but didn’t mention it, instead gently setting the mug on the table.
Gently as in he half slammed it down, so a bit of hot cocoa splashed onto his hands. He hissed almost in-audibly, and retracted his hand from the mug as he spoke.
“Somethin’ warm to drink might help as well.” Jackson said, his tone monotone and quiet.
“Hope i’m not intrudin’ on anything.”

Rained Out
Dakota blinked her crystal blue colored eyes at the older boy, not seeming to have expected kindness to have been met with aggression. Though Dakota would normally shrink back, make herself seem somehow even smaller then she already was, instead she pursed her lips and narrowed her eyes lightly at Kyle. Fear prickled her skin but she was a bit more annoyed that he was being so rude “well somethings got you in a sour mood.” her voice was still soft and sweet, hiding how nervous she was. Not only was she nervous, she was annoyed, “also, if you look back actually, dirty water has caused people to perish as well as getting wet then dropping temperatures caused hypothermia, so, yes, a little bit of water as you say, can and has hurt someone.” normally, she wasn’t like this, but she was already quite tired from staying up last night and now being threatened. She twitched lightly when Jackson, someone who Dakota most definitely did not recognize, walked up to the table Dakota and Kyle were at. She flinched when Jackson half slammed the cup down on the table, not having expected it, but her gaze seems to glitter with a bit of amusement with what he had said next. At this point Dakota had reached her hand out to retrieve her wrap, only the inside of it being wet now. She didn't quite recognize Kyle, so, blinking sweetly Dakota parted her lips yet again to speak, “and as for asking who I am, Dakota is my name, who exactly are you as well?” raising a eyebrow, Dakota finished this sentence with a question and then sealed her lips, her fingers now grabbing the wrap that she had rested around Kyle to be kind.@Jackson Gold

Kyle rubbed his face. How was it every time he left the common room he managed to attract these kinds of people. First we have the sunshine and sweetness fairy, probably a hufflepuff, who had to go full "Uhm Actually" when he was just trying to tell the kid to sod off. Promising start.
And of course the younger boy to the rescue offering hot cocoa as if he was some despondant little orphan kid who needed rescued. Something about the boy smelled...off. There was something wrong with his scent, and it was similar to another individual he also didnt care for. They were just letting anyone into the school these days werent they?
He shrugged off the wrap, either letting it fall to the floor or into the girls hands depending on how attentive she was to it. "Ya can keep yer drink to yerself. If I wanted hot chocolate id have gotten it. sides your feeding it to the table anyway" he shot the new arrival a look that could only be classified as dirty. Somewhere between a glare and squint.
His eyes then went back to the Girl "Names DeRook, Meanest Lion youll come across. And ive sent atleast half a dozen of your housemates into the lake. Ask around the kitchens, theyll tell ya. Or, I can give a demonstration if youd like? Plans for today are shot thanks to rain anyway" while he still wore his hard expression, his mouth turned upwards into a mean grin as he glared at the girl.

There was just something about the rain that brings out old memories. Perhaps it was the petrichor, or the chill air, or maybe the sound, the eagle was not really sure. In cold and humid weather, it is best to spend time in the great hall, surrounded by food and more food. Her footsteps would echo throughout the corridors. It was a rare sight to see Aurora held some kind of book. her left hand held the only thing that she could not stop reading for an entire week, which is ‘transfiguration today’, just to learn more about things like Animagi and magical mishaps. Despite being a Ravenclaw, there was nothing she hated more than dusty old parchments and reading. Her mother always thought she was possessed by something when she became obsessed with a book all of the sudden.
The passage about ‘Awkward Transformation’ was somewhat intriguing. Someone did transfigure themselves into peculiar things, such as teapot and stuff. Where were their brains located? She let out a rather loud lighthearted chuckle as she stepped into the small hall “What a foolish person haha!” Then something else caught her attention. A guy just casually bragging about how he was the meanest lion and pushing people to the lake, what a weird thing to flex about. Aurora turned her head to the source of the sound, and there he was, all wet and acted so self righteous. He looked familiar though, probably someone she saw on the quidditch pitch before and definitely older. On the other hand, the other two were unfamiliar. Her eyes glued back to the scholarly paper and said something under her breath,“Looks like you’re the one that just got pushed down the lake.” as she continued to walk to the great hall and greet the delicious foods.

Rained Out
Dakota caught her wrap with ease, flipping it so the wet part sat on the outside and then resting it around her shoulders yet again. Raising a eyebrow Dakota sighed. “He’s just trying to be nice, no need to be so angry.” Dakota could most defiantly handle being threatened and taunted but when it came to other people it wasn’t something she put up with. When Kyle had turned to look towards Dakota all the small tanned girl had done was raise a eyebrow, still, she didn’t show her fear, instead swallowing it as she stood with her arms crossed. It didn’t take long before Dakota started noting features of this boy, something she did normally. “Uh..huh..sure, no thanks.” keeping her sweet tone she now seemed to be switching stances, placing her hands behind her back. Sheesh..I know not many people like the rain but it doesn’t call for this. her gaze had hardened a bit as she silently memorized Kyles face, taking a mental note or who say may want to avoid.Still, Dakota didn’t look even the slight bit nervous, her golden-brown hair tied back in a low ponytail and swishing softly as she moved her head to look towards Jackson. Her gaze would switch between each boy for a moment before she puffed out a breath, keeping her hands behind her back. Suddenly, she wrinkled her nose, the slight smell of wet dog just now hitting her as she groaned lightly. Just barely hearing Aurora she twitched lightly yet again and turned her head to find the source of the new voice, laughing a bit but not calling out to or trying to stop the girl, just mumbling a light “good one.” before returning her attention back to the two boys.@Kyle DeRook

Despite what many people thought, including the two other students near by him at this time. neither Kyle, nor any other werewolf smelled like a wet dog when they got wet. Similarly, Animagi also didnt smell like an animal when they were in the form of a human because thats just not how things worked. The wet dog smell that the other students had been smelling was for sure a strange scent coming from some unknown location, perhaps someone had let a dog in the hall. Curious to be sure
Kyle grabbed a length of his hair and twisted it, wringing out some water onto the stone floor. "Listen, you came over to where im sitting. I didnt go to you. Did you actually want something or was it a test to see just how much you could annoy someone before they do something about it?" he leaned back some, stretching. Why did his cousin insist he try to socialize and meet people. Everyone sucked and annoyed the hell out of him. He sure as well didnt feel like wandering around the school from place to place trying to find somewhere nobody was though, as he knew from experience thats how you go from bumping into one annoying person into a dozen or more. Atleast here the other people were minimal...for now anyway.
He tilted his head to the side and scratched at his messy hair, looking from the girl to the guy and back to the girl
"So what was it you wanted then? just letting me know im wet and angry? kinda knew that already." he says flatly

If Jackson smelled off to Kyle, the young boy couldn’t tell. Kyle, on the other hand, reeked of werewolf, not just because of the fact he was soaking wet. Jackson sneered slightly, not taking lightly to the harsh attitude of the older male. The action revealed little gaps where his canines should be. Anyone with knowledge of the wizarding world’s many races would most likely be able to put two and two together, with Jackson’s un-naturally pale skin and too-grey eyes.
Said grey eyes followed the shawl-wrap as it fell into Dakota’s hands, meeting her eyes briefly as she.. defended him? It was a nice gesture, whatever it was, and it made that sneer of his fall for a moment. At least he wasn’t alone in the dislike for bullies.
“At least the table has some decency to be appreciative, and it’s an inanimate object.” Jackson scoffed at Kyle’s words though, the sneer returning as dark eyes shot back towards the werewolf, returning the half-glare, half-squint with an equal amount of displeasure. “DeRook? Sounds like a bad muggle singer's name.”
The hot cocoa was long forgotten by the time the taller gryffindor threatened Dakota, which truthfully almost made Jackson laugh. He was sure the gryffindor thought he sounded terribly intimidating, and to be honest, he was. But threatening to dump someone in the lake when themselves looked soaked to the bone was rather amusing.
“Well, mister high-n-mighty, i'm pretty sure the both of us wanted to make sure you weren’t gonna catch a cold.” Jackson retorted.
