Opeila had been interested in Quidditch for a while. Not because she was particularly fond of that sport, but more because of a lack of alternatives. Flying had been her worst subject since the beginning of the year. She was not that bad at it, but as soon as her feet left the ground, the second year simply felt tense. Her mind would spin in circles and go through all those rules they had learned. Opeila had heard more than once that Flying wasn't about learning the theory so much, but feeling it. And... Well. Opeila simply didn't feel it. She didn't know how.

But yet here she was, staring at the sign up form in the small hall. It had to be new, only three names were on it so far. The second year had no clue why she stopped and read through it and why she didn't just turn and enter the Great Hall as she had originally planned, but something just... Opeila was interested. Maybe it had something to do with the broom she kept down in her dorm- her mother's old broom, who had been a player for her team when she had still visited Hogwarts. A racing broom, her grandmother had told Opeila proudly. Lady Margary had bought it for Opeila's mother when she made the team.

When the Duelling Teams opened up, Quidditch had been erased from Opeila's mind, she had been quick to sign up for her house's team and to her own amazement, she had gotten a spot. No reason to spend more thoughts on Quidditch. Her mother had swallowed it without a word, trying to respect her daughter's choices, but Opeila knew that she had hoped that the Slytherin would be a little more like her.
Torn, the little girl looked at the form. Should she really...

Griseldis had been studying one of her least favorite subjects in the Library the whole day. No matter how much she disliked it she would never want to fail an exam, so she had no choice but to endure it until she was confident to believe she studied enough. That was when Griseldis realized it was already afternoon and her stomach started to make some growling noises, almost attracting other students in the Library. Her cheeks turned slightly red in embarrassment. She quickly gathered her things in her bag and left the Library before getting any unwanted attention.

The Gryffindor Prefect decided to get some snacks at the Great Hall to treat herself. While she was on her way there, she had been thinking about Quidditch. After that spectacular Quidditch victory against the Ravenclaw team two months ago. Griseldis still felt very prideful about it because it was her first match that she did well as a first string Beater, alongside with her other talented Beater partner, Scarlett. However, that didn't mean she can be lazy. Quite the opposite, she had to train even harder than before. Their next rival team would be the Hufflepuff. Despite them being defeated by the Slytherin team they were still very scary opponents who were the champion from last year. Not to mention they were able to win against the fearsome and ruthless Durmstrang team. The Badgers were definitely not to be underestimated.

When she walked into the Small Hall. Griseldis saw a young Slytherin girl who was standing there alone staring at the paper in her hands. Griseldis immediately recognized that it was Opeila. She wondered why the brunette was looking at the piece of paper deep in thought like that. "Hey, Opeila! What are you doing standing there alone?", Griseldis walked towards her, greeting the second year Slytherin with her usual cheerful smile. She curiously took a peek at the content of the paper, "Quidditch Scrimmage? Oh! Are you interested to sign up for this? This does seem like a very good opportunity to play in a Quidditch game even though it's unofficial, but it'll be worth it."

Quidditch was not something Bridget had thought about much lately. Earlier on in the year it had been on her mind frequently, first with her preparation for this year's tryouts, then as she made the decision to switch to duelling, and after with the occasional second-guessing of that choice. The first game had been hard to watch from the sidelines, since she'd felt like she should have been out there, but it had gotten easier. She'd found enjoyment in spectating and duelling was a worthy way to spend her time. Beyond that, flying, which used to take up a decent portion of many of her evenings, had unfortunately been pushed to the side; she was simply too busy with other things for it to be something she did consistently. That had been especially true of the past weeks since Easter Break, with her free time dedicated to extra preparation for the final stage of duelling.

It had been a fairly normal Sunday, her morning spent working on homework. She planned to visit the duelling room later to practice her casting. First, though, she knew she should eat something. She would need the energy. Her attention was caught on the way in by a small cluster of students surrounding what looked like some sort of sign-up sheet. It must have been put up recently, considering she hadn't noticed it earlier. Naturally curious, Bridget wandered over to see what it was all about.

The sign-up was for... a Quidditch Scrimmage? Now, Bridget was happy with duelling. She liked her partner, was on a winning streak, and had even been made a Co-Captain. At this point, she wasn't switching sports again. But that did not mean reading those words didn't gave her a thrill of excitement. Quidditch was still easily one of her favorite things about the magical world and the opportunity to play again was not something she would pass up.

It was then that she really noticed the other people there. She'd seen them coming over, of course, but hadn't taken note of their identities. She did now, smiling at Opeila and Griseldis. She knew both of them, Opeila a Housemate, fellow duellist, and from their unsuccessful plan at last year's Blossom Ball and Griseldis mostly from classes and a few of her errands. "Hi Opeila, Griseldis." From the snippet of their conversation she'd caught and the fact they were all standing in front of a Quidditch Scrimmage sign-up sheet, she gathered Opeila was considering joining. Maybe Griseldis was too, though she of course was already one of Gryffindor's first-string Beaters so she didn't need an opportunity like this to play. "It looks fun. I think I'm going to do it, you?"

Quidditch had been on Scarlett's mind more than ever these past few weeks. She wasn't overthinking it, she just had been going over all of the players of the house teams in her minds and thinking up strategies and debating on whether to trade her broom for a better one and staying up late at night to figure out what she could've done better from her last game and - okay. Perhaps she had been overthinking it. But the final game of the season was coming up and Scarlett needed to be prepared. She had signed up for her house team quite early on in her first year, but had never given Quidditch more than a few appreciative thoughts until she had become a Beater.

Scarlett was mostly pleased with how her games were going. Her first one had been a rather confusing mess but her second had granted her some sort of comprehension and she had finally understood how to play and all of the moves and won. The feeling had put her on top of the world and hints of euphoria still remained even as they were preparing for their final game. She and Gris had been training quite a lot and though Scarlett wouldn't call herself a prodigy, a pro or spectacularly gifted at the game, she felt competent for once, in something that wasn't Charms or pranking.

That morning, Scarlett had sauntered into the Small Hall on her way to eat some breakfast (she was a firm believer that breakfast was the most important meal of the day and not to be skipped) when she caught notice of, first, Gris, second, Opeila, and finally, a third-year girl she hadn't met yet. They seemed to be discussing something and Opeila was staring at a sheet of paper. Her curiosity piqued, Scarlett decided breakfast could wait and wandered over to the three girls. "Hi, hi, hi," said Scarlett, announcing her presence. Her eyes caught on the sheet of paper Opeila had been looking at, advertising a 'Quidditch Scrimmage'. "Ooh Opeila, are you thinking of signing up? It would be cool to have the opportunity though it's your decision-"

She glanced at the other girl. "I don't believe we've met before," said Scarlett. "I'm Scarlett, and you are-?"

Opeila was still staring at the sign up sheet when she suddenly heard a familiar voice say her name. She didn't need to turn around to know that it was Gris, but she did anyway and smiled at her friend. "Hi! I'm looking at this..." The Gryffindor had read the paper as well by now and asked if Opeila wanted to sign up. "I don't know, honestly. I have a broom, so I guess I could... I'm just really not good at Quidditch. Or flying in general...", she admitted with a little smile.

Another person appeared at her site, a girl from her house and one of her duelling captains, Bridget. "Hi.", Opeila greeted her back. It was not that surprising that Bridget wanted to put her name down, she had been a Quidditch Player before after all. Switching sports couldn't have been too easy and Opeila could imagine that her housemate missed it occasionally. "I'm thinking about it. The offer is great, but I've never played Quidditch and I'm also not that good of a flyer..." Frankly she hadn't even been watching all the official matches. The sport did not play a big role in her life at all.

Groups always seemed to work as a magnet, Opeila had noticed that before. Another girl joined them, a Gryffindor in Opeila's year, Scarlett. Their first meeting had been a rather weird one, Scarlett got to see a piece of Opeila's mind in the mysterious room on the fifth floor. It was good to see that the redhead didn't seem creeped out and still talked to the Slytherin. "Scarlett, hi- I'm thinking about it. Maybe I should have used some of my free time to improve my flying skills, so I'd probably make a fool of myself. Are you going to sign up? You're in your house team, aren't you?"
