The snowball fight had come to an end, and as much fun as pummeling the rest of the school with snowballs was, warming up was much more appealing to the red-haired girl. She wound her way through the hallways with her best friend, Reid, by her side. It wasn't often that she could be found around him whenever she had the time, and he had the time as well. Ever since she found out he was Head Boy, it seemed like their time together had dwindled down to rarely. Even so, she felt weird things towards him every time they hung out - things she started to question.

Did her getting nervous mean that she liked Reid? Did she like Reid? How would she be able to tell? Maybe if she told him how she felt, he would be able to translate them for her. Unfortunately, her confidence for this choice seemed to vanish when she looked at the face of her best friend. Stupid crushes, and stupid twelve-year-old feelings. She was one of the boys, and she liked that. That didn't count having weird feelings to her friends. Debating on whether or not she should tell him was a tough internal battle, and one she hoped to conquer sooner rather than later.

Turning down the hallway, the pair ventured down the Small Hall, which later lead on to the Great Hall. Sabrina had assumed that most people would want to go to their common rooms after the snowball fight, and so far, she was right. She grabbed onto the sleeve of Reid's robes, and tugged him down the hallway, picking her pace up to a jog. She really wanted to make sure they could sit by the fire to warm up, meaning that allowing other people to get there first was not in her agenda.

Soon enough, she stopped in front of two cushioned seats in front of the fireplace. She plopped down onto one with a relieved sigh, slipping her off her well uncomfortable boots before bringing her legs up to tuck them underneath her. She pulled her peach lip gloss out of the inside pocket of her robes then, and unscrewed the top, using the brush attached to coat her lips in the shiny, sticky mixture. It smelled pleasantly like peaches, and Sabrina wasn't afraid to admit that it tasted like them, too. It was a wondrous creation, and definitely something she could credit muggles for. She was glad she had smuggled it into her bag from her mum's makeup tray. Because times like these, where her lips were dry, she could use it. She rubbed her lips together before tucking the small tube back away, and she looked over to the fire.

Flames were licking the bricks of the fireplace, and the crackling sound was comforting. One that reminded her of the times where her mum and her would sit in front of the fire at home. The smell was absent though, and that she could probably blame the magic for. She didn't mind too much, and looked back over to her friend.

"So.. that was fun." She mentioned, quite an awkward attempt at starting a conversation. Wasn't that something that was supposed to come natural to friends? Gosh, she had absolutely no idea what was wrong with her. Bloom's attitude must have worn off on her or something. Otherwise, she wouldn't be so... loopy around Reid.

Parts of his clothes were soaked from the melted snow, his jacket wasn't keeping him that dry anymore and some of his shirts underneath was tainted in the process. His jeans were darkened in certain areas and his hands were jammed into the pockets. Wet hair matted itself on his forehead and a Hufflepuff scarf obscured a large part of his face that made him look a little roguish to the average student. His face was also a little red from the biting front, mainly his nose if anyone could be bothered to see it.

"C-cold ..." he muttered past the fabric of the scarf. He followed the girl without protest, the slight warmth from the castle was such a welcoming thing to him. Any form of heat that would just make him want to fall asleep would be even better, a bed and some nice blankets to sleep under. The boy plopped onto the cushion beside her, exhaling a bit in the process. However, he stretched his legs out towards the fire without care after being so tempted by the heat.

He was exhausted from it all, the snowball fight took all the energy that was left in him. But he had fun with it, it was one of the moments where he's had the most fun actually. So he echoed her sentiment right away. "It was super fun." His voice was a little muffled by the scarf, so Reid pulled it off and set it beside him. "I'm so tired though, I didn't think I'd throw something so hard." he hoarsely laughed. Reid pulled his leg in a slight fetal position, folding his arms over it and resting his chin upon them.

"I really want to warm up. I could go for that hot chocolate by now. What about you?" he asked, looking over to Sabrina. There was many times where he's thought of this before, but Sabrina was extra pretty in a certain light. But he didn't dote on it much, he didn't really know if it meant anything beyond his opinions. Yet he was the happiest in moments like this. They were sometimes too quiet but he was in the company of someone he truly adored in the end.

Sabrina's attention was easily drawn to Reid's stutter when they were walking down the corridors, but she only paid mind to it now. Was it really that cold? She was equally as covered in long-since melted snow, and her red hair stuck together at the ends where it was wet, but the only cold she could really feel was in her hands. She rubbed them together then, attempting to get them to warm up, but as much as friction did work it didn't help her pink hands any. Well, they weren't even really pink anymore, just beet red. She huffed and leaned closer to the fire, holding her hands out towards it, but still at a safe distance.

"It was super fun. I'm so tired though, I didn't think I'd throw something so hard."

This made Sabrina grin. It was now her turn to boost up Reid's confidence about his desired position on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. "Just means you'll be the best beater around, Kovacs!" She mused, finding herself leaning even further forward. It was like the fire couldn't get close enough. Her hands were no longer numb, but throbbing, and that was the worst kind of cold. She would rather be in the Sahara Desert right now. She hated the cold, and she hated not being able to warm up even more.

"I really want to warm up. I could go for that hot chocolate by now. What about you?"

"With marshmallows? Tempting.." She trailed off, then let her eyes trail back to the fire, "But I don't quite want to leave yet. It's so nice here." She mumbled, sitting back in her seat as she shrugged off her well-soaked winter cloak, followed by her Gryffindor robes underneath. That left her in her Gryffindor blazer and scarf, over top of a white button-up with a red and gold tie, and her skirt and socks. Well enough, and even though she was cold, she'd rather not be wet and weighed down by her clothing.

She looked from the fire to Reid, and pursed her now-glossy lips. Should she mention what she was thinking before now? It seemed like a good opportunity to do so, and she'd rather not beat around the bush. That just wasn't the kind of person that she was. That didn't stop her from becoming terribly awkward with what she was saying, though. "Hey, Reid, so uh," She began, losing her train of thought for a moment before settling back on track, "I don't know, I've been feeling weird lately." She admitted, scrunching her nose up. That could be taken a million different ways - should she clarify? She huffed, then tugged her Gryffindor scarf off, playing with it in her lap.

It took a few minutes, but finally Sabrina sucked up her pride and admitted straight out, "I feel weird around you. Like.. like I'm nervous or something, but that makes no sense!" She exclaimed, leaving her scarf laid out across her lap as she crossed her arms across her chest. As said previously, stupid twelve-year-old feelings, and stupid crushes. Why couldn't she just be normal?

The heat was bringing the feeling back into his limbs, the numbness turned into a faint tickle on his skin and bones. His clothes stayed damp and so did his hair, but the redness from the cold was starting to subside from his features. His hand came up to brush his slightly wet hair back, causing it to slightly stay in an impermanent quaff on his head. A laugh bounced from his slightly parted lips, hot cocoa was so tempting. Yet he had to agree, there was no way he was going to move away from this fire anytime soon.

He could fall asleep right now, which didn't seem like the best idea at the moment. But the boy kept himself in a tight position, his logic was that his own body heat would keep himself warm. But also, he saw a muggle program about penguins that huddled to stay warm. He wasn't a penguin, but the line of thinking was there in his frost laden mind. Reid's eyes nearly drooped to a close, but he jerked awake just as Sabrina began to talk again. Huh? What did she mean?

His hand unlocked from one another and rubbed his eyes as she spoke. His face stuck itself into a slight frown as the words started to sink in. "Weird around me?" he said, trying to hide his dejected feeling. The boy rubbed his heavy eyes and forced himself to straighten out his posture. His back cocked straight and he stretched his arms out in front of him to seem more attentive. Reid loudly sighed as he relaxed and tried to think of what to say to her.

Did he do something wrong? How come he didn't notice? "Why nervous? Did I do something wrong?" he asked curiously, leaning back. There was a slight break in his voice, but he didn't know whether that was from his voice or rising emotions. He used his the palm of his hands to support himself as he looked over at Sabrina, trying to seem as calm as he could.

Reid didn't understand what she was trying to get at, well part of him was afraid of understanding. Did she not want to be friends anymore? Should he apologize? His thoughts went a little haywire and caused his stomach to knot at the idea, please let it not be that.

Sighing, Sabrina brought her cold hands back towards her. She held them up to her mouth, breathing on them. Hopefully, this would warm them up, because nothing else seemed to do the trick. She was also able to cover her cheeks in case she ended up blushing like a madman for some godawful reason. She didn't like this situation, and this was one time where she was wishing she could just escape the situation. Reid just wasn't understanding at all - and god, she had no idea how to handle the embarrassment that she'll face explaining it in depth.

"Why nervous? Did I do something wrong?"

Noticing the crack in his voice, the redhead almost lurched forward when she yelped out, "No! No, not at all!" And cue her hands being useful for the time being. She covered her mouth again, as well as her cheeks, and started to breathe on her hands again. Somewhere along the way, they had grabbed on to the armrests of the chair she was on.

When she was sure that her face had calmed down enough to make it look like the was just cold, she dropped her hands back into her lap, training her gaze on the fire. It was pretty, and it wasn't looking at Reid while she made a fool of herself, trying to explain something that she didn't even quite understand herself. "I-I'm not sure why I'm nervous." She grumbled, finding her arms crossing over her chest. While she was at it, she tucked her hands under her armpits. She might as well try to warm up somehow while she was at it.

"I think it's just.. just stupid twelve-year-old things, you know?" She laughed, kind of awkwardly as she turned her head so she was looking the exact opposite way from her best friend, looking oddly interested in one of the magical paintings on the wall. Why was she acting so weird? She'd ought to cut it out, or she'd make the relationship between them awkward. And, God, she didn't want to make things awkward between her and Reid. That just didn't feel right.

"Just - forget I said anything," She shrugged her shoulders, uncrossing her arms and deciding to fiddle with the cuffs of her blazer instead. She didn't know why, but blazers seemed to be her favourite asset of her uniform. It was rare she wasn't wearing one, actually. Something about it made her feel.. sophisticated. Kind of like being writer-in-chief for the GryffPost. Speaking of which, she hadn't even told Reid about that!

"Hey! I totally forgot!" She continued on almost right after she shrugged her shoulders, turning her body completely towards the boy. The topic got her excited, and she was sure that when Reid found out he would be excited for her, too. "I joined the Gryffindor Newspaper! And better yet, I got positioned as the writer-in-chief." She told him quietly, as though it were some kind of secret. And for now, it was. Only him, and the rest of the people on the newspaper team, knew about her position. That was, until the first issue came out.

It was clear she was hiding something, but he didn't press the idea much. He was too tired to bother and he wanted to just relax for the most part. Reid was slightly startled by her outburst as he also tried to turn himself towards her. He pulled the scarf up to cover his face as he listened to her with an arched brow. Reid was confused with the topic change at first but then his face lit up as he realized what that meant for her.

"Really? Congrats, you nerd!" he cheered, throwing his hands up in the air. His face fell as she hushed her tone, oh she was trying to be secretive. Pursing his lips, he slowly brought his hand down and placed them on his lap with a slightly tilted head. "Sorry." he whispered. But the sheepish look was soon wiped with a idiotic grin, one that was far too happy for his friend.

"That's so cool though, I wish I could do something like that. I just help manage the newspaper after it's printed." His hand came up to rub his eye and sigh softly. He was better for his strength, hauling appernatly was a thing that he was good at and he was okay with the idea. "So what are you guys writing about? A lot has happened I think."

Reid respected the writers of the Hufflepost, he was just doing the handy work for the most part and that seemed to be enough. He would look over the writing sometimes, but he wasn't the person who was good enough to journal all so well. The content was interesting though.

"Yeah!" She exclaimed, grinning excitedly. It wasn't often that Sabrina had good luck, but she had been incredibly lucky in her first year. She didn't think that she would get that far, but she also doubted herself. What if it was all a prank? Surely, older students should be interested enough to take part in the newspaper, so why was the team filled with first years? Her grin turned into her pursing her lips - which had now become a habit for her when she began thinking. She never noticed when she did it, it just happened. At least she wasn't biting at her lips, causing them to become chapped.

"How do you manage it?" She asked curiously. Did anybody manage the Gryffindor Newspaper when it was released? She didn't think so. Maybe there were differences between the house newspapers after all. She had to think a moment before answering his question, as she honestly couldn't even remember. It was around the end of March now, so they would be publishing the paper soon. She should know the columns off by heart!

"I-I think the front page is something about a ghost.." She trailed off, laughing lightly afterwards, "I don't remember." The girl admitted sheepishly as she turned her face so that she could look into the fireplace instead, the flames still flickering against the bricks. It lit up her face, and made her ginger hair look, well, really ginger. She didn't mind nor notice though, what was the need for that, when there were better things to focus on? "How is the Hufflepuff newspaper going though?" She decided to question, turning her gaze back to her best friend. How had she even been able to win his friendship over? She still wasn't quite sure, but she was glad she had managed to do so.
