A Quiet Place PV - Ruby Cazares Closed

Sage was sat cross-legged at the edge of the lake, her novel propped open on her lap. She was reading Pride and Prejudice, one of her mother's favourites. Her mother had sent it to her via the school owl Sage had sent to her, with a letter explaining how the post system worked in the magical world. Her mother's response had contained updates about home, her excitement at the postal system, and the novel, one she had loved as a young girl, that she thought Sage might enjoy.

Reading a book that she knew her mother loved helped her feel less homesick, and closer to her mother. Her father had added a little letter of his own, too, telling her how much he loved her and missed her, and how he was already planning fun things for them to do over Christmas together. Her heart had ached when she read the letter from him, but the love it contained helped her to fight off her homesickness; they both loved her, and missed her just as much as she missed them, and that was enough for the small girl to feel a little better.

There was a slight breeze by the lake, which rippled the water a little. She glanced up from her book when she heard rustling in the bushes nearby, and she smiled when she saw cat emerge, a cat that no doubt belonged to one of the many other students here at Hogwarts. She wished she had a pet, but her parents hadn't been able to afford one for her; all her school equipment had cost them quite a lot of money. She was hoping to get one for Christmas, or to be able to save up for one herself soon. She was thinking an owl, though: it would be much more convenient for her parents and her to share an owl, than for her to keep using the school ones.

With one last smile at the cat, she then turned her head back down to her book, continuing on from where she left off, allowing herself to get drawn into the novel. She was enjoying it so much, that she was oblivious to anything going on around her for the time being.
