Finally! After the long and cold winter the sun was back to bring life to nature and joy to hearts and minds. Ileen adored snow, but she also appreciated the spring with all his new life, the flowers and the warm air that made it possible to spend more time outside without turning into an icicle…
So, naturally, the young Slytherin girl had run outside after she had finished her homework, trying to get out as much as possible of this beautiful Sunday afternoon. First, she had taken a walk around the lake and now she was searching for a nice spot to settle down with her new book about advanced charms. It was just what she needed now. Some peace and quiet time to clear her mind and focus on new information. Distraction was the key. She still had trouble sleeping, something the dark shadows under her brown eyes were telling about, and so she tried to get exhausted during the day and thus go to sleep more easily in the evening.

Ileen had braided her long brown hair into a plait and exchanged her warm winter jacket for a lightly lined jeans jacket. To match, she wore black leggings and a white sweater - all very comfortable.
She had just reached her favorite tree and was about to sit down as she heard a scream. Ileen winced as the loud noise tore through the soothing atmosphere. The chirping of the birds stopped for a second and a chill ran down her spine. Had something happened again? Alarmed, she dropped her book and bag, pulled out her wand and looked excitedly from left to right. Where had that come from? She hadn't practiced dueling for nothing - she just hoped she wouldn't need it outside of school so soon.
Ileen had been studying to be a healer long enough to feel immediately responsible when she heard sounds of pain, even if she still wasn't ready to help people who didn't deserve it. But she could not judge that yet. Where had the cry come from?
She paused to listen. At first she thought she might have imagined it, but then she heard a sob. It came from a group of trees not far from her.

Her wand still raised, she ran in that direction. No sounds of fighting. Only crying. She frowned and circled the cluster of trees.
And then it was revealed where the crying had come from. A boy, clearly taller than her, perhaps a third grader, was lying on the ground clutching his foot, which was sticking out at an odd angle. His face was distorted with pain and the black hair that fell into his forehead was sweaty.
Ileen stopped for a second to make sure there were no attackers nearby, then approached cautiously. "Hey. I heard you scream. What happened?"
The boy looked up startled and blushed when he saw the young girl. Perhaps he was embarrassed that she had seen him crying. "I... I slipped and fell out of the tree, I think I broke my leg."
Ileen stepped closer, looking at his foot with a furrowed brow. "Oh yeah, that looks bad." She considered. Ferula probably wouldn't do here, but maybe it helped at least a little. She crouched down next to the boy and sought his gaze. Even though she usually shied away from social interactions, her help was needed and there was no time for such silliness. Her heart beat nervously, but she tried to ignore it and cleared her throat. "I can try to splint it, but then you should urgently go to the hospital wing. I can't cure that."
He gritted his teeth. By now he was as white as a sheet and nodded, his teeth clenched tightly.
Ileen hoped he didn't see the trembling of her hand as she gently tapped her wand against his leg. “Ferula.

The white bandages wrapped around the boy's ankle, but Ileen knew right away that he couldn't walk like that. And he was too huge for her to support him all the way. She had to get help.
"There. That should help," she said, trying hard to reassure him. "Wait a minute. I'll be right back."
She jumped up, ran back to the tree, picked up her bag and book, and piled them on top of each other next to the boy. Then she instructed him to lie down and put his foot on it.
"Don't worry. I'll get help." With that, she jumped back to her feet once more and ran towards the castle. Hopefully, she would meet someone! Panic was written all over her face as she sprinted along the lake. She would approach the first person she met and guide them to the boy.

"Dance little lady, dance..." The man would hum to himself as Caradoc walked along the grounds of the castle. Guitar in hand, as he was often found, he nodded to a few passers-by and smiled as he winked. Blond hair shining in the new sun, there couldn't be a better time for mister sing-a-song to come out and spread into the world of grumpy teenagers and stuck up colleagues. Paying the planks and boulders no heed, he merely left for the open areas of the grounds. If he was planning to turn the great hall upside down again as he had done last year, Nora would have likely killed him. How dare he openly flirt when he is in a good mood. His face imitated a grumpy pout as he tried to imagine her berating his behaviour.

And then there was this girl. Why any student would run towards the castle as fast as she did, he was wondering if maybe she was one of those people stuck with their noses in their books and would prefer a rainy day and some hot chocolate over a summer picnic. Then again, she managed to come from the outside, so something got her out there in the hills a bit further up. Sticking one hand up as she approached, there was something off about her. Panic screaming from her eyes, it seemed she might just have teleported out the castle and was left without her reading material. Doc shook his head to bring a halt to his own silly thoughts. This wasn't some play he was directing. The panic likely meant trouble.

"Hello there little lady!" He greeted with a grin. "Where might you be running off to? I'm afraid party o'clock is off limits for now. Maybe somewhere later in the afternoon." He joked, yet his face gradually fell into a serious look. It was his way of slowly getting himself ready for what was to come. "This will likely be trouble, am I right?" He offered her a small wink in reassuring her everything was going to be alright.

Ileen was running so fast that she almost bumped into the man as he suddenly crossed her part. With a silent gasp she tried to break, slided a bit over the damp grass and rowed inelegantly with her arms, so as not to lose her balance. Her eyes were wide open in shock and she probably could have used first aid herself. At least she felt close to a heart attack. “Oops! Sorry Sir!
Her irritation was quickly replaced by relief when she realized who she had almost tackled. Professor Browne! Good thing he took it with humor at least.

Ileen was way too consumed by her haste and worries to get his first joke. She looked at him stupidly, question marks all over her face. Blinking in confusion she tilted her head, trying to catch her breath and fighting the urge to continue running. She had found someone faster than she had expected.
Her appearance and attitude obviously gave away that there was trouble, so the Head of House stopped joking - something Ileen was grateful for even though she appreciated humor a lot. She was just not in the right place for it now.
Professor Browne! Hello!” She wrinkled her nose, not sure if she should introduce herself. Well, it wouldn’t hurt. “Ileen Knight. And there is trouble indeed. Some…” She bit her tongue to stop herself from using the word idiot and started over. “A boy fell off a tree and I think he broke his leg. I was on my way to get help. I already casted Ferula on it but that was not enough to support him to get to the Hospital Wing.
As soon as she started to describe the injury, her tone changed and became a bit more professional. An attentive listener would notice that she was familiar with that topic.

The young aspiring healer had no idea that the Head of House was a healer himself. It had been great luck she had met him here. “If you could help me to get him there or treat his injury that would be great. It’s not far.” She pointed over her shoulder in the direction she had come from, hoping he would agree to follow her.

"Did you try lifting him up?" Doc spoke sooner than his own mind could stop him. Shaking his head in correction, he chuckled his stupid remark away. Maybe she hadn't heard the remark in all of her panic, and he could just shrug things off and move on. "A bit further up, you say? Show me the way, kiddo." A bit too cheerful for what the situation seemed to be asking for, but the Head of Hufflepuff couldn't help his cheery disposition in Scotland's first new sun. He hadn't been able to get outside for days in this miserable country.

"How did the kid fall off a tree?" Caradoc asked, confused, his mind catching up with what had been said. "Why was he in there in the first place? Don't tell me this is because of something stupid again?" He'd grumble as he started to follow the girl. His fingers aimlessly strummed the snares on his guitar. A dainty tune, something light for the weather.

"O' weather o' mine, how you shine. No, no, that sounds so boring." he mumbled to himself, his mind clearly drifting back to the lovely sun practically waving at him to come enjoy some of her shine. Caradoc instead chose to stick with his so-called 'duties' and chased after the girl. Though the words were still swirling in his head. "The road is looong. There is sunshine on its way, and I've been waiting eeeeeeeveryyyydayyyyy." Yes! Much better, he thought as he happily kept strumming his guitar, belting the last bit.

He cleared his throat, in case the girl would take offence. "Apologies miss Knight, been locked inside too long you see..."

I- Lifting him up?” She wrinkled her forehead, still confused by the mood and questions that she clashed into. Well, he had a point. She could have tried Wingardium Leviosa and brought him to the Hospital Wing… Her cheeks blushed in embarrassment since she hadn’t thought about that at all. “Uhm… I-
Thankfully, he chuckled and brushed it off to save her from showing her mindlessness in that situation. Great job Knight. You considered carrying him with physical force. “Am I a witch or what? Stupid. She mumbled those words to herself, as she led the way back to the tree. Embarrassing herself in front of a professor had not been on her to-do list, especially since those were some of the few people she actually respected.

Her mood was already gloomy and grumpy as the man started asking questions, reminding her that she as a healer was supposed to ask those too. But she hadn’t asked him. “I don’t know!” Her answer came out way more snappy than intended. “I only know that he slipped and broke his leg and now he’s crying like a little baby.” Her judgy words slipped over her lips, motivated by her unhappiness with her own performance.
Glancing back at the happy professor who seemed to balance out her bad attitude with humming and singing, she blushed even more. “I- sorry Sir. I just don’t understand why people constantly cause trouble for other or themselves when we are worried about a real attack everytime something stupid happens.” It was a poor attempt to justify her outburst.

As they walked back to the spot of the crime, Mr. Browne kept humming and singing. Ileen couldn’t help but glare at him. Of course, she loved the nice sun and apparently he was out here to enjoy it, but Miss Knight was a judgy person. She had criticized Mr. Iwasaki at their very first interaction and she wouldn’t stop there.
So, when the man stopped singing and apologized to her, her tone was a little piqued as she replied. “No worries, Sir.” As dignified as possible she walked around the last bush and suppressed the thought that he probably didn't understand how urgent this situation was.
The boy was still there and for Merlin’s sake, he had started crying again.
As the young boy laid eyes on the professor, he stopped and a shy smile spreaded over his face that was still wet from tears. Apparently, he had met his hero.
Ileen scoffed. He hadn’t thanked her for helping him in the first place. And apparently he hadn’t trusted her to return with rescue.
With a deep frown on her forehead, she crossed her arms. “Here he is, Mr. Browne.
