A foray into picnics and other Devilry
There is something to be said for things that one cannot quite capture for words, of course whatever that something to be said is… is nebulous at best. Orion chuckled at the thought; his brain certainly came up with some convoluted lines every now and then. But perhaps that was part of the fun in having a big vocabulary and a small grasp of philosophy. Either way it was irrelevant he hadn’t ventured outside for the soul purpose of enjoying the view, though the view was quite enjoyable, he was here to enjoy the fruits of his labors.
The fruits of his labors being his newfound interest on one of the more classical hufflepuff hobbies, Cooking. It wasn’t perhaps the most grandiose hobby a wizard could pursue but he wasn’t really all that interested in fame, so much as he was fun and functionality, which he insisted coincided well. The book he’d gotten from the library, a tome of Hogwarts recipes through the ages amused him, It wasn’t like most of the books seemingly cobbled together by the hands of many would be chefs over the centuries who had attended Hogwarts, many pages with little tips and notes hidden in the margins. He’d thumbed through the book until he’d discovered the sweets section. From their he found a recipe that looked quite good, and decided he would pursue it, and so he had.
The recipe was called Cauldron Cakes the quote, Go to wizardly treat, unquote. Well it couldn’t be all bad if it was the go to treat he’d thought. With a recipe in hand, he made his way to the kitchens once again very pleased that the kitchens were nearly right next to the hufflepuff dorm rooms. They were simple enough pastries, though the sheer amount of chocolate in each of them was enough to give him a toothache just thinking about it. Chocolate icing, chocolate batter, a hard chocolate handle all filled with a caramel center. No wonder it was a favorite the thing had more candy in it than most Halloween parties. It was thankfully a rather simple recipe, though a time consuming one he’d woken up early just to make sure he had the time to make these treats.
Another source of shock to him had been the kitchens themselves nothing like the modern amenities he’d grown used to. It was due to this that he ran into a few snags, the oven was difficult to control and had managed to singe the cakes a bit, earning Orion’s malice for the day. He didn’t have a mixer at his disposal which led to him splashing himself with chocolate on more than one occasion and lastly almost all the ingredients he wanted seemed to end up on top shelves where he needed a small ladder to get them. Overall it was a rather inconvenient experience. That said, the payoff was decidedly worth it. The chocolate cakes dipped in chocolate, filled with caramel smelled divine, and didn’t look to bad either. They weren’t perfect by far, a tad burnt, and the icing uneven, but for a first attempt Orion couldn’t complain, Looking at his chocolate stained visage in a mirror he grinned, he decided then and there that this would not be his last foray into the kitchen.
Though with several dozen cakes made he came to a conundrum, he could not eat all of these… and he didn’t want to just force his dorm room to eat all of them either… Wrapping them up he decided he’d just have to hope that he could give enough of them away that none of them were wasted.
Thus he’d set out for the lake with a large blanket an enumerable amount of cakes and a jug of pumpkin juice. By the time he’d set up the picnic blanket next to the lake and laid out his platter of deserts he was well pleased with himself. Pointing his wand straight up he cast “periculum” watching as the shower of sparks marked his location.
Plopping down on the large blanket and grabbing on of the cakes he decided he’d earned a taste, bit into one, and waited to see of company would arrive. Hopefully the smell of chocolate and the sparks would draw them in.

Yes, but why?

A foray into picnics and other Devilry
Ami, after breakfast, decided to opt for a change of scenery, and headed down to the Great Lake to read. She'd just received The Grave's a Fine and Private Place in the mail from Thomas, her best friend, and looked forward to devouring the entirety of the mystery novel in one sitting.
Looking up from her book (for once) to rest her eyes, Ami suddenly noticed sparks flying a couple hundred feet away from her, at the other side of the lake. Was it a fight? Curious, she shut her book and stood up, loping over to the other side at an even pace. When she neared, she realized that in fact, no one was in danger, and a fellow Hufflepuff had evidently discovered the Kitchens (a place she had yet to find), as the heavenly smell of chocolate and caramel came floating towards her. She slowed, and waved cautiously to her fellow Huffle.
"Hey," she smiled, tucking a strand of loose hair behind her ear. "Wow, dude, this looks amazing," she said, not lying, because it did. Did he do this all himself? The treats (shaped like little buckets) looked scrumptious, almost too good to eat. There was also a pitcher of some orange, liquid substance- Ami thought she heard someone call it pumpkin juice at breakfast, and decided that yes, the pitcher was most likely full of pumpkin juice.

According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly.

A foray into picnics and other Devilry
Anna was walking back from her flying class with the weight of another failed attempt of flying on her shoulders. She smelled of sweat, and she was sure there was flies buzzing around her because of her smell. The weather was nice that day and the grounds seemed to be quite calm. Anna desperately needed a shower, but she wasn't quite ready to go inside so she decided to take a walk around the great Lake. As she drew closer, she saw a Hufflepuff boy she has seen around the commons before but didn't quite remember his name. Onion? Yeah, It's probably Onion, she thought to herself, trying so very hard to remember the boy's name. The hufflepuff was sitting on a blanket, staring off into the mysterious lake accompanied by a girl and some sort of food with a Jug of some sort of juice. She realized that the two were having some sort of picnic, and Anna couldn't help but long to sit down on the blanket and eat with them, maybe even making friends.
Anna thought it would be rude to invite herself so she turned her head and kept walking.
Until, she smelled the scent of sweet chocolatey goodness. Anna could not help the urge to run over to the two and ask, "Do you have chocolate?" and sat down in-between them without being invited to do so. "I'm Anna, by the way. Nice to meet you." She said with a smile. "You have chocolate, don't you?" She said again, obviously wanting the chocolate. However, she didn't want to seem rude so she followed her question with "It's fine if you don't have any, I just really like chocolate."
