When was the last time her sister said that? Her sister would've never said something like that. Right? No, Raelynn was just growing up, just changing, alright, alright. Even as Lily thought that way, she was still mad. She had hissed at her sister earlier in the day and got a threat in return. She had yelled at her older cousin [Lyle] for being so dramatic over useless situations and they had had a yelling fight smack dab in the middle of the hallway. As if situations couldn't get worse. She wasn't gonna be there to help other's calm down. She had enough of being the "person you could go to, to calm down after a fight" did they know that she always had a pot of anger boiling up? She never showed that she was mad. She cared too much about others, she had to care about herself first, at least at this moment. She was supposed to from the beginning, now it was time to make up for all those times she didn't express her feelings.
Coasting along the side of the lake, her boiling anger got hold of her, she stuffed her hands in her jacket's pockets and clenched her teeth before kicking a rock into the lake. After a few seconds, the water rippled and she flinched, a dark figure appeared but didn't come above the water, whatever was under there, must've been pissed. After somewhat of a staring contest with her against the unknown, a gurgling noise was made like a surrender but it didn't move. Not thinking a whispered apology came out of her mouth, "Sorry--I was just mad..." there was some sort of movement underneath, like a nod of the head, and the dark, slender figure seemed to have slipped under the lake again. Oh my, do those things know English? she stared at it, the more she thought, the more it made sense. One never grows up. They are still the same 5 year old as they were so long ago, but that's good. Saying an apology to an "unknown" creature might have saved her life, though it doesn't make sense, it might never. Right?

Sarah watched as the younger girl stared into the dark waters. Though from her position she couldn’t actually see the water, she knew from experience that she was likely staring at one of the creatures that inhabited the waters. She let her mind wander back to first year, remembering how she’d almost been dragged down into the water by an unknown shadow, only to be saved by a passing third year. Perhaps it was this that make her stay and watch the girl. She seemed upset - no, angry - and Sarah knew far too well what strained emotions could do. She’d found herself in many a dangerous situation because of her emotions. She’d just wait to make sure her help wasn’t needed before continuing on her way, just in case.
Only, it seemed she need not have worried about the girl as she heard her mutter an apology. Oh. She continued to stare down at the water, seemingly leaning in even closer. Sarah, still slightly worried, decided she’d rather interrupt someone’s private time than have the girl accidentally fall into the lake and get dragged into its depths.
“I wouldn’t get too close if I was you,” She called out as she approached the girl. Sarah was intimidating by nature: her sharp features and bright hair paired with her Slytherin tie and Pure-Blood status often meaning people who did not know her avoided her. She tried for a friendly smile to attempt to make sure she didn’t intimidate this girl, her usual resting face one which likely wouldn’t help. “Back in my first year, I lost my footing and was almost dragged under,” She admitted with a soft chuckle, hoping her warning was obvious despite her joking tone. She came to a pause a few feet from the girl, crossing her arms over her chest to provide some barrier from the wind.

Note • nothing at the moment...She snickered slightly before kicking a rock along the coast of the lake. She kicked it so hard it almost got stuck in her shoe. Lily had always loved the darkness, it made her happy, with some sort of feeling of friendliness. If you first saw her, she'd look friendly, shy, small, easy to take advantage of, but her features would be lying to you. Though she is a kind person, inside carries a darkness, a madness, an angry lion ready to kill. If she took dislike to you, you could see it in her eyes. Her kindness never shifts-friend, acquaintance, enemy-every human life is a life worth caring about.
“I wouldn’t get too close if I was you,” Lily glanced over her shoulder making eye contact with another girl--a much older girl. Taking a few steps back, she turned around facing her, “Back in my first year, I lost my footing and was almost dragged under,” the other girl continued to walk towards Lily chuckling slightly only to stop a few feet away from her and cross her arms. Was she doing that to make herself look worthy or? No, maybe just the heavy wind. Just a barrier for the heavy wind...
Lily paused, checking to see if she was being sincere or lying. Also, how could this other girl-as a eleven year old-be so dumb to actually get in that position of getting dragged under? Lily was about to shake her head and roll her eyes in disgust but held it, "Thanks for letting me know." the words came out normally, as if they were having a conversation but inside held a bitterness, a unreadable madness, brewing, slowly but dangerously.

Scarlett's favourite place to visit when no friend was in sight and nothing interesting was happening was definitely the grounds. She liked walking along and enjoying the chilly, crispy autumn air and poking at the edges of the Forbidden Forest. She had ventured there once and would very much like to do it again. However, she chided herself. Not today. Not yet. Instead, Scarlett found herself wrapped up enough for the incoming winter and ambling to the Great Lake, where she would perhaps encounter her growing friend - The Giant Squid. After she had fallen into the lake in her first-year, the squid always seemed to be watching her. Scarlett never really minded.
She travelled down to the lake and her eyes caught on two girls already there. One had green hair and was recognisable as Sarah Lightwood (Scarlett made a habit of knowing everyone in her year) a girl she had never really talked to, and another girl, a brunette who appeared to be rather angry. Anger wasn't the best emotion to be experiencing. When Scarlett was angry she usually ended up trying to kill someone and setting up a new rivalry. As if she didn't need more enemies.
Scarlett came over to the little duo. Sarah appeared to be saying something to the other girl, who responded normally, yet with a hint of bitterness. She easily slipped into the conversation. "Dragged under, I hear?" enquired Scarlett with a small grin. "I was pushed."────── ☆ ───────

Sarah spotted the bitterness int the girl’s words immediately, noticing the way her eyes twitched as if she wanted to roll them at her. She kept her stance, ensuring the girl knew she was infected by her mood. She was angry, that much had been clear by the way she’d kicked the rock into the murky waters. Perhaps approaching someone who was irritated wasn’t the best idea. Or perhaps it was, she didn’t know. And her innate curiosity, her desire to discover things, kept her from turning and walking away. She wanted to know where this anger was coming from. The tension clearly bleeding from the girl wasn’t enough to turn her away.
She let her eyes flick over the lake, watching as the wind blew ripples across its top. Well, the wind and whatever inhabited its depths. It was a strangely serene scene which juxtaposed the girl’s poorly hidden rage. Sarah knew to tread lightly with her words, opening her mouth to speak when another voice cut her off. She turned to catch sight of the newcomer, a Slytherin she slightly recognised - Scarlett, perhaps. She wasn’t sure if they’d spoken much over the past year, maybe they’d once been partners in potions, Sarah couldn’t be certain, though she had seen her around the common rooms on occasion.
Scarlett’s words made her smile, her light laugh filling the cool air. “Whoever pushed you had ample reason, I assume,” She said with a raised eyebrow, the quirk at the corner of her lip enough to suggest she was teasing. She allowed her eyes to flick back to the lake. “I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the creatures that grabbed watching me through the common room windows,” She mused, letting an overly dramatic shiver wrack her body. It was true. She often felt as though she was being watched when reading in the common room by the large windows which looked out to beneath the lake.

Note • nothing at the moment...Lily's eyes flicked a little as she stared at the green-haired girl. She seemed to have noticed Lily's bitter mood and seemed to have taken some what of a feeling from it. Out of instinct, that's what Lily believed happened since there was some sort of disturbing silence. Lily really, really needed to learn how to hide her feelings better if she wanted to keep how she felt private.
The green-haired girl opened her mouth to respond but there was some sort of interruption, "Dragged under, I hear?" Lily peered over the first girl's shoulder. A second year redhead girl had a small grin on her face, "I was pushed." Lily raised an eyebrow and the greenhead smiled and gave a light laugh that echoed in her head disturbingly, “Whoever pushed you had ample reason, I assume,” those words cut into Lily like a knife. Though the words weren't directed at her, but her tone, the choice of words, was somewhat disturbing, “I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the creatures that grabbed watching me through the common room windows,” Lily raised both eyebrows before lowering them before anyone could see her suspicion, "What the hell?!" the phrase muttered in Russian.
"I'd like to see that, green hair, and redhead, is that really something to look up at?" she laughed, "Sorry, I don't know your name, or, as I should say, names." why was she being so snarky all of a sudden? This really, really wasn't gonna help her.

"How nice," came Scarlett's quick reply. She wasn't so much angry as amused. On a normal day she would already be hexing this impetuous girl to oblivion, but today Scarlett didn't feel in the mood for doing something rather wild. Maybe she would try out being one of those smooth, sarcastic Slytherins and/or Ravenclaws. "The fact is well-known that I punched Ana Beckett in the eye. That girl wants to murder me every time we meet. She nearly has."
She thought of the last S.W.A.G game, where Beckett had successfully knocked her off her broom and sent her crashing to the ground, severely injured. Maybe Scarlett could kill her in her sleep. "Ooh, creatures?" Scarlett continued, addressing Sarah and almost forgetting about the third figure standing there. "Heard about the hags, course, but I've never heard about other shadowy creatures."
Scarlett then turned to the first-year who had said something in another language. There seemed to be plenty of bilinguals here at Hogwarts. Welsh, French and now this mystery language. Chinese, possibly? The first-year then cut out with a snarky retort, in English (thank Merlin).
"Meh, I'm sure being pushed or falling into the lake is some sort of coming-of-age ritual and/or tradition nowadays," replied Scarlett neutrally. "Would you like to try?" She laughed in a friendly sort of manner, though to this first-year, it might not be interpreted as friendly.
"Anyway, I'm Scarlett," she continued. "How about you?"────── ☆ ───────

Scarlett was right, it was a well-known fact that her and Ana Beckett had caused somewhat of a commotion. She knew Ana, not well, but enough to know she was a tricky person to get along with. She was the leader of the dance group she’d joined at the start of the year and had almost been the reason for her leaving it. She’d not been kind to a girl she’d met there, Lucia Fox, who had done nothin wrong as far as Sarah could see. She disliked people who enjoyed using power against people. “Well, I can definitely understand why someone might want to punch her in the face. She’s, well, she’s something,” she said, offering Scarlett a knowing smile.
“I’m not entirely certain what the shadows are. Perhaps merefolk, or perhaps a grindylow,” Sarah had often wondered what exactly inhabited the Great Lake’s waters, not just the rumours. “My cat Nova has taken too jumping at the glass every time she sees something moving,” Sarah admitted with a fond smile at the memory. “I keep trying to decide whether she’s trying to attack or make friends with whatever’s out there.”
The younger girl said something in another language. It sounded like how one of her father’s friends spoke, perhaps Russian. She couldn’t know for certain.
At Scarlett’s words, Sarah found herself smiling, hearing the joke in her tone. “Definitely a rite of passage we could help you with,” Sarah added before laughing along with the Gryffindor. Her eyes flicked to the first-year, trying to gauge her reaction. Hopefully she’ll see the joke, she found herself thinking as Scarlett introduced herself, letting the younger girl introduce herself too before doing the same. “And I’m Sarah,” She smiled.

Mentioning | Anastasia Beckett[/font]From what Lily could gather at the moment, it just seemed as if Scarlett was some sort of crazy lunatic that's a hot-tempered idiot and Sarah was this sarcastic child. Were they better than this? Kinder? Maybe if she wasn't so cranky, they'd be friendly. No way. Definitely not. Actually, she was being to optimistic. Nothing like that would happen.
The girls mentioned this "Ana Beckett" person, seems she isn't lovely from what Lily could gather. Redhead punching "Ana Beckett" in the face? Greenhead saying "Ana Beckett" seemed somewhat worthy of a punch in the face and that she's 'something'? Yes, it's obvious, this "Ana Beckett" isn't lovely, at all.
The girls then started talking about creatures unknown to Lily. Grindylows? Hags? It sounded more as gibberish than the name of existing creatures.
Then all of a sudden there was a offer to get pushed into the Great Lake. As a coming of age ritual. "I'm alright. Thanks for the offer though." she laughed along with the girls, hoping she seemed more sarcastic. Unsure of what to do, the redhead introduced herself as Scarlett. "I'm Lily Reeser. Just--just call me Lily, perhaps." god, how dumb was that? Horrible. The green-haired girl introduced herself as Sarah.
She decided not to say anything more. To keep her human sanity. Not to end up hexed or cursed, because she knew, whatever was gonna come out of her mouth now wasn't gonna be pretty.

Is That Really Something to Look Up At?
Lily speaking in English Lily speaking in Welsh Others speakingInteracting with @Lily Reeser, @Scarlett Aden and @Sarah LightwoodLily was stressed. Very stressed. She had no idea why, but she just was. Soon, she saw three girls stood by the lake, so she walked over. She needed someone to talk to. And soon.
As she neared the girls, she recognized one of them, a red-haired girl who she met at the Fall Ball earlier in the year. Her name, Lily struggled to remember. Then it came to her. But they were talking, and Lily picked up a few things. She wasn't trying to listen in, she was just good at it.
"I'm Lily Reeser. Just--just call me Lily, perhaps." That was funny. That girl had the same name as her. Well, the same first name anyways. "Hey Scarlett, remember me?" She asked the red-haired girl as she was almost there, then introduced herself to the others. "Hey there, I'm Lily, Lily Cawthi. What are your names?" Then came the look. Again. But Lily was prepared, for once. "That was Welsh, sorry." She apologized to the others. "Let me start over." She took a deep breath, and spoke to them, hoping she didn't look or sound too weird. "Hey there, I'm Lily, Lily Cawthi. What are your names?"
The others managed smiles at her. Lily was just finishing walking over, but she wasn't looking where she was going. She tripped on a rock, and went flying into the lake. Luckily, she was currently wearing her signature green dungarees so it wasn't too awkward. Unfortunately, she was now soaking wet and in the lake, and unsure whether to laugh at her stupidity or not. She would laugh if anyone else did.Banner by Lucia Fox
