Santario would offer a polite smile to Jorah and shake his hand with a firm but polite grip. “Pleasure to meet you Jorah. I do believe that the elves that are employed by the castle take care of our luggage as soon as we are sorted.” Or at least that is what she assumed anyway because it just made sense to her. She would look over at Logan and extend her hand in greeting them as well assuming they got into the boat. “Well my mother says I could get Hufflepuff which wouldn’t bother me in the least but both of my parents were in Slytherin so naturally I would like to continue on in the same house they were in.”

She and her mother didn’t really care what house she got into and her father said he didn’t care, but every time it was brought up she thought that she could see that he might. “What about you guys?” She asked in return but also paid attention to the question asked to the professor. She thought she knew the answer because this was something, she had asked her parents, but she was interested to see the professor’s point of view as well.

The rocking of the boat started as little unnerving but had become pretty comforting. Constatly reminding Madeline of the journey ahead and every now and then she turned a glance at the other kids who were her peers. As she finished speaking to Evelynn, she felt pretty relaxed and confident that things were starting well. A little tired and overwhelmed with everything going on up until now, she was finding it hard to read Evelynn. She hoped that she didn't leak too much information but at the same time wanted to make friends and not appear completely ignorant of her new situation. Madeline laughed lightly at the image of a fluffy bird that Evelynn had compared Hufflepuff to, and simmered on the ideas and values they were supposed to represent. The brief image of her own mother using an overly expensive puff to cake her face came to mind too. The smell vaguely of baby powder and vanilla wafted through her mind, almost expecting the strong and musky spritz of purfume to come after.

Evelynn continued to muse on the houses and if you could change it. Madeline wondered that too. With how worried a lot of the students seemed to be about their sorting into houses, it felt very permanent. Even people her father worked with would often boast of their house in Hogwarts when the subject was brought up, o it seemed like a life-long title... almost. Noticing the glance to her bracelet, Madeline tried to stop fiddling with it. She weaved her fingers together instead, a little voice of her nanny yelling at her not to fidget.

"If we don't get into the same House, though, maybe we could still be friends?" Madeline's breath caught a little in her throat. A friend so soon? Officially? It had been ages since Madeline had something like a friend. It shouldn't feel like such a shock right? People make friends all the time... right? "You mentioned that you like to play chess…I'm not very good, but I'd like to get better. Maybe we could study together, too, if we have any classes together. Besides, we'll have to figure out some way to compare our explorative achievements!" Madeline took a breath.

"Of course we can be friends! That would be great." She smiled wide as she eagerly leaned forward on her toes, "I haven't played it in a while since my father's been so busy... but I'd love to play again. I won't go easy on you though!" She said, the competitive fire burning a little brighter behind her brown eyes, "I'm sure a study partner will be needed, especially once we get into harder classes. My father says Potions can be VERY exact, and that some teachers might grade really harshly--" She stopped for a moment to take a glance at the teacher bathed in pink in another boat, "But I guess we'll see how the teachers really stand up." She giggled, then suddenly slowing herself down, slightly embarrassed.

Madeline readjusted slightly, "We definitely need a ranking system for secret finds. Maybe we can think of a prize for whoever finds the uh, coolest secret? Either way, it should make for a very interesting year!" she smirked.

Noelle crumpled her candy wrapper as she got off the Hogwarts Express, letting her tongue savor the last bits of chocolate in her mouth. She brushed the crumbs off her black robe and adjusted her pointed hat. Her eyes flicked around the dark area surrounding the train, where she made out a split between the large amount of students heading for the castle. She had initially thought they'd all be going to the castle together, somehow, but it made more sense for there to be a special mode of transportation for the new students of the school year.

The young witch made her way towards the smaller of the groups, which contained students closer to her age. She blended in well, despite her previously thinking she was especially tall. There was a mix of heights amongst the first years but everyone seemed relatively the same, like a sea of short but choppy waves.

The group began to move through a path in the trees. She had decided too late to look back to see where everyone else had gone because now all that lay behind them was the faint lights from the train that was slowly disappearing behind the trees. Noelle had no choice but to look forward, but she didn't mind that because she was curious about how exactly they'd be getting to Hogwarts.

Up ahead, guiding the students, was a female professor. Although there were two other ones about, this one took her notice first because Noelle actually recognized her: it was the retired player from the Holyhead Harpies, Olphie Bercegeay!

The first year's eyes lit up, but she didn't make a move towards the woman, and not just because it would be difficult to do so within the crowd of first years. Her mother once told her that celebrities were people just like everyone else, no matter how grand they seemed, and most of them wanted to be treated like an average human being, not like a god that descended from the heavens. Noelle made a note to at least say hi to her one day, if she didn't turn out to be one of her own professors.

Suddenly the sight of a dark and slightly imposing lake came into view. Noelle didn't really think much of it, for some reason, until she noticed the amount of boats that lined the shore. Then she realized that they'd be actually riding these across the waters, the black waters.

Noelle sucked in an uneasy breath but she continued to follow the other students who were making their way towards them, following the instructions of the professors. As she passed them, she took the moment to get a good look at them. All of the professors looked young and a little worn out, reminding Noelle of her mother, who she was really beginning to miss. Besides Professor Bercegaey there were two men, one with long locks of hair and a strangeness about him and another who just looked like he didn't want to be there.

Noelle hesitated a short distance from the teachers, trying to decide which boat she wanted to join. She gazed wearily around; she didn't exactly make any friends on the train ride there, having sat alone most of the time, and it was entirely too dark, despite the light from the nearby lantern and the professors' wands.

She contemplated this and recalled one of them saying that three of the boats would have a professor. Noelle wanted to join one of those boats, so she lingered near the professors.

But she took too long. After an ordeal with Professor Olphie and another professor, where they fell together and then dispersed to their own boats, she found that all of the professors had found their own boats, which had quickly filled up. Noelle's heart began to race—she didn't want to be left on this scary shore, especially not alone.

Noelle quickly headed towards the nearest boat that wasn't full of students. Two girls already occupied it, and seemed to be in the middle of an interesting conversation. She hesitated, just for a second, before sliding into the boat. She offered them a nervous smile; one of them had pretty red hair and blues eyes while the other dark hair and brown eyes, like Noelle. But Noelle's hair wasn't long and straight, it was shoulder-length and wavy, and her eyes were closed to jet black than actual brown.

Both of them looked inviting enough so she began to relax but she didn't say anything, she was too nervous. A million thoughts were racing through her mind and she thought that it would be nice for the girl's to continue on with their conversation uninterrupted. Noelle was really just here for the ride to the school, not to talk anyway. She found herself gazing at the water, around at the forest, and then finally up at the night sky, with bright and wise stars.

Evelynn's heart leapt a little with Madeline's affirmation that the two could be friends, a warm smile spreading across her face reflecting just such a thought. So early into her Hogwarts journey, the red-head wouldn't even have dreamed to have met someone else with whom she could have connected with so quickly with so many overlapping interests. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad afterall. Maybe she'd actually be able to have a normal -- could attending a magical school for witches and wizards be considered normal? -- academic year. She was suddenly struck with the desire to contact her mother, to tell her all about this triumph, when Madeline commented on the difficulty of potions and the possibility of strict and hard-marking professors.

"I suppose we will have to see just how they stand up…" Evelynn replied, trying to keep the nerves out of her tone.

She was normally quite adept in her academic pursuits, but this wasn't exactly science and math and humanities. How she would compare to the rest of her fellow peers was very much up for debate. The fear of discovering that she wasn't actually meant to be here began to creep over her again, just as it had on the train-ride here, sending the hairs on the back of her neck to stand on end and the palms of her hands to sweat.

Just as Evelynn attempted to hide the wiping of her palms with a readjustment of her robes, the boat shifted and rocked beneath them, weighed down by the entrance of another student. And truly, not a moment too soon. Snapped from her quickly downward spiraling insecurity, Evelynn snapped her gaze to the body responsible. At first, she thought the new-comer may have been in the wrong place. The newcomer was pretty tall, after all, but of course only fellow first years would have been here. The rest had gone off in the other direction towards some carriages parked off by the train.

She seemed quiet, this stranger, offering Evelynn nor Madeline little more than a shy smile, but one that Evelynn reciprocated. But then she just…sat there. Saying nothing. Doing nothing. Keeping her gaze out towards the water. Was she afraid, Evelynn wondered? Or just apathetic? Maybe she was just as anxious for this ride and the promised sorting ceremony on the other side, just as Evelynn was? With a crimp of her lips, Evelynn gave the unnamed peer one last glance over before turning her attention back to Madeline, deciding to leave the former in peace.

"Is there a subject you're most looking forward to?" Evelynn inquired curiously. Despite her fear, it wasn't as though she weren't looking forward to the subject matter. The textbooks had been absolutely fascinating, and there was much she was anxious to learn. If she was able to. "I think I'm mostly interested in our Charms classes. They just seem so useful. I think I'm mostly looking forward to learning how to make spells last for long durations. Like how they use cushioning spells on brooms to make them more comfortable to fly on!" She'd learned about that one during her excursion to Diagon Alley. "And actually, Flying classes also sound really exciting. I won't be able to ride while I'm here, but this seems almost even better. Have you flown before?"

Moss is the last first year to get off of the train, Man why am I always last as she pull her trunk down the last step she hears a voice call out to the first year telling to go this way, Moss has to run to keep up with the crowd which is not easy with the trunk she is carrying. But she eventually makes it.

Moss was heard from one of her older cousins that Hogwarts does this special thing for the first year every year and she couldn't wait.

By the time Moss was fully caught up with the group nearly at the boats so moss could finally just take a little break, she observed all the nature around her, the towering trees and wind rustling through them made a beautiful sound.

Moss soon found her eyes trained on the professors, she had no clue who they were, she recalled her mum saying something about a retired quidditch player but thats all. And then it happened

Wow wow wow thought Moss, the great lake her cousin told her about. This was probably one of the thing she was most looking forward too. Then Moss the noticed the boats. Oh man this is exciting, Moss was awestruck just looking over everything and the next thing she noticed was that there weren't a lot of spot left for her, and again she ran.

Moss ran to the nearest boat that wasn't full and just caught the tail end of their conversation "And actually, Flying classes also sound really exciting. I won't be able to ride while I'm here, but this seems almost even better. Have you flown before?".

Moss cuts in before one of the other girls can answer "No I haven't actually flown yet but i really want to try". Moss sets her thing down in the boat before she gets in. "Oh where are my manners, I'm Moss, Moss Gray. Nice to meet you all"

As the duo on the boat conversed, and a third sat quietly in her own thoughts, Evelynn had been vaguely aware of the coming and going of other students making last second efforts to catch a boat before they all took off. It came to no surprise to her that they would be joined by a fourth student to fill the last of the seats of their little rowboat. Still, Evelynn hadn't quite expected anyone to cut into the conversation quite so casually.

Before Madeline could even reply, a redhead with vibrant blue eyes interjected with her own reply.
Evelynn's gray eyes snapped to the new comer, studying her as she struggled with her trunk. It was just in the nick of time that Evelynn pulled her feet in close to lean against the low wall on her side of the seat, otherwise the trunk may very well have crushed her toes. She stared at it for a moment, bemused. She had been quite certain that they were supposed to have left their belongings at the station to be taken up separately to the castle, but maybe there was some sort of special situation here.

"I uh… A pleasure to meet you, Moss," Evelynn replied, mildly exasperated as she winkled her nose with how cramped the already small space had now become. Moss. An unusual name. "I'm Evelynn Decipio. This is Madeline Doe," she continued, gesturing with an open palm to her previous conversation partner. She paused, eyes briefly roaming over the third as the girl stared out absently over the waters, debating as to whether to try to introduce her as well. But the girl hadn't told them her name. In fact, she hadn't said anything to Madeline and Evelynn at all. So she left her be, deciding it would have been a fruitless effort.

"I'm pretty excited to try flying as well," Evelynn smiled, picking up the conversation where it had left off. "I've heard all about it from Professor Berca.. Berceguay…Bercagee? Anyway…" Evelynn was clearly struggling to remember how to pronounce the name. "One of the professors. The flying professor here used to be a professional Quidditch player, and told be all about the sport and how she used to play as a beater. It sounds so fun! I can't wait to watch!"

Kara smiled gleefully as the train started to slow to a halt. In excitement, she practically plastered her face to the glass and stared at the castle with a feeling of relief.
The train whisled and she leaped out of her compartment with the other two girls behind her. She walked out with her head held high and stared at the lake as the moonlight glimmered against it, making it shine like the stars above her.
She couldn't hear anyone say what to do over all the chatter, so she instead followed the crowd. They all stopped at the shore of the lake and waited. She heard a faint gurgle come from the water as ripples drifted slowly towards them. She couldn't believe her eyes, boats were coming towards them with no drivers!
Kara hadn't seen much magic before, but now, it seemed like normal to her already, and she couldn't wait for her first class. She had talked with the girls on the train, one of them grew up with magic their whole life, the other was like her, knew nothing but was accepted.
She stepped on the boat and a girl and a boy followed her. She smiled at them, but she decided to ignore them, instead, she was going to do one of her favorite things. When it came to nature, she thought it was so beautiful and she just had to stare in awe.

The boats stopped at the other end of the lake and she looked around at the others and then at the castle, Hogwarts. She smiled at the thought. This was her first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

First Sight of the Castle

Okay this wasn't the best start to the school year; I can't believe I fell asleep on the train to the point that I didn't notice it had even stopped moving. Was I really that tired? Or was I just honestly that relaxed? Truth be told I have no idea and heck I may never know; all I know now is that I was incredibly LUCKY to have caught the boats which took the first years to Hogwarts.

This is my first time on a boat of any sort; it could have been the fact that it is a rickety old row boat or perhaps its just the fact it is a boat period but as the boats made their descend closer to the magnificent building my stomach lurched unpleasantly. I began feeling very green around the gills; now I've been sick before but this was new however I decided to do what I would do for any other upset stomach. I put my head in between my knees and took deep breathes; I was very thankful when boats came to a stop.

The moment in which my feet met solid land all the nausea I had felt simply disappeared; this concerned me...I knew I'd have to speak to the nurse about this but first I had a sorting ceremony to attend. On the way to the ceremony I was in pure awe of this castle; it looked exactly like my mom and grandma remembered from their time at the school. Even though the school had went through a war; it's amazing what magic can do.

Adriel clambered out of her train compartment and into the stream of students eager to exit the train. She was giddy almost jumping with excitement as a flood of students formed around three... lights maybe wisps? She assumed there were adults behind that inviting glow but could not make out their features over the sea of students. Her long braids twisted about as she looked around her. It was dark eerily dark...

"I feel like I'm in one of my fantasy books. A brave hero about to traverse through the endless darkness and find a worth wile treasure on the other side"

Adriel chuckled to herself. Her father Gregory had told her all about his boat ride. He was shaking so heavily it was a wonder he didn't topple right out of the boat. She couldn't help but imagine the scene. It always sent her into a fit of giggles thankfully she was snapped from her thoughts by a yell.

"First years this way!" The voice boomed out over the huddled crowd. At least her assumption was correct they weren't being led by wisps but people. Although the wisps would have made this endless darkness more like her books. She eagerly marched on with the others excited to settle in her boat and set sail for Hogwarts castle.

Thea hurried out of her compartment after Leanne had left and started heading towards an exit on the train. She walked off and looked around completely lost. Then she heard a young man call all the first years to follow him. She looked around at all the other faces in the crowd. Most of them were like her's excited but very nervous. She looked ahead again and looked a the young woman leading the way. She called out that there would only be 4 to a boat. "A BOAT!!!!!!" Thea hated water. she stopped in her tracks but was pushed forward by a kid a little taller than her. She fell hard into the mud and laid there for a few seconds. She then found her bearings and got up with her trunk. She followed a smaller girl than her into one of the boats and finally sat down in the boat. To her surprise she was actually looking forward to this. The other people in her boat did not talk to each other they just stared at the huge castle in front of them. Then the boats started moving and Thea was amazed. She heard many "oohs" and "aahs". She herself let one escape her own mouth, but just once. She looked over the edge of the boat and saw amazingly a different person staring back. " No this was no person this must be a merman." And it was. Also to Thea's surprise she saw the merman glide along with them through the entire trip. She felt safe with him their. But as soon as she had made it to the castle he looked at her nodded and swam away. Thea then turned her attention to the scary part of the journey.

Getting sorted.
