Hex The Sneezing Hex, First Year

Since it wasn’t the first time, the setup of the classroom with the desks stacked against the wall immediately signalled to Dee what today was: Another spell lesson! Those were usually fun. Her eyes were bright as she skipped over to the wall to get her bag out of the way, and then she snatched her best friend’s arm to drag her with her. If today’s spell required a partner, she’d already decided on hers.

Carefully, she watched the demonstration, already quietly repeating the incantation to herself. “Steleus - STÉ-lee-us. Steleus.” Then, when Professor Zahid did prompt them to find a partner, she turned towards Ileen with a flourish. “Ready to sneeze, Ileen?” she asked, her eyes sparkling mischievously.

Ileen rolled her eyes at her best friend’s enthusiasm and snorted indignantly. “Ready when you are,” she replied and wrinkled her nose in challenge. In truth, she was looking forward to learning that spell. It could be very useful for unwanted company. A soft giggle escaped her as she imagined the cooky idiots in her house being hexed with that spell when they were about to start a fight. Well - she would gladly play that role.

She turned to Dee. “STE-lee-us.” After recalling the indication she pulled her wand and gave her friend a wide grin. “I hope you cleaned your nose.” She practiced the movement a few times to make sure it would work when she actually tried to cast the spell. Quickly downward, outward towards Dee. Repeat…. Got it. The young Slytherin put her hands in her hips and crooked her head. “Do you want to become ‘Princess Dee Sneeze-a-lot’ first or do you want to start?

The young Ravenclaw snorted, practicing the wand movement as instructed. In a fluid motion, she moved the wand downwards and forward toward Ileen. “Do your worst,” she replied, spreading her arms in an open gesture, a challenging spark in her eyes. “As long as you’re prepared for my revenge.
She grinned, the prospect of sending her best friend into a fit of sneezes tickling her love of mischief. It definitely seemed like a hex that would be useful to have around - and maybe not all that conspicuous when used, either. After all, people did sometimes just get random sneezing fits. Who said it wasn’t due to allergies?

Ileen rolled up her sleeves and gave her best friend a crooked grin. “You know what? Everytime someone is about to say something stupid, I will use that spell.” She stopped in the middle of her movement and frowned. “Well - I might need some help with that. I can't jinx all of them at the same time. Also, they will close the school because they might think we have a disease - everyone is sneezing all day long.
She cleared her throat, highly motivated to test the spell. “So, get prepared and have your tissues ready.” With a quick movement, she moved her wand downwards and forward toward Dee. “Steleus!
Professor Edit: Oh boy. Zahid couldn't help but feel apprehensive of the chaos those two girls would wreak in the school if they were to really attempt to implement the little scheme he was currently overhearing. For their sake, he hoped they weren't serious as he had no particular wish to assign detention.

“Keep the school rules in mind, please, Miss Knight, Miss Prince.” He decided to give them a friendly reminder – and to assume, until proven otherwise, that they were merely joking. “Still, good work you two.” After all, they had successfully cast the spell twice with barely a break between their attempts.

Continuation from her post above~
One second, Dee was laughing at the mental image of the whole school sneezing around the clock because of Ileen rolling her eyes and hexing everyone as soon as they dared open their mouths, the next second she was getting brutally shaken by a giant, violent sneeze that forced her eyes shut. She blinked, trying to get the tears out of her vision, and sniffed. “Not sure we’d be able to disguise that as allergies,” she said, amusement colouring her voice, and wiped the sleeve of her robes across her face before raising her wand. Her eyes were sparkling with excitement. “My turn,” she announced, and pointed her wand at her best friend. “Ready - STÉ-lee-us!” She moved the wand in the appropriate motion, downwards and towards Ileen, taking care to perform the movement cleanly and precisely. Flourish could come later.

Ileen watched her friend’s sneezing attack with amused satisfaction. That would for sure be fun. She couldn’t wait to try it on some of the plenty idiots in her house. Well - she probably had to stretch the rules a bit for that, but in her experience, a sneeze sometimes was better than the alternative: an idiot escalating a harmless situation. But the smirk remained only briefly on her face. As soon as Dee had spoken the incantation, her nose began to tickle violently and the young Slytherin had to sneeze herself. Not only once but a second time while she was not even finished with her first one. The sneeze was so violent that she almost dropped her wand.
Recovering from the double sneeze, she took a tissue and wiped the tears from her eyes with her sleeve. “Merlin. I swear, I broke a rib doing this.” She eyed her friend, still blinded by tears in her eyes. “Did you double jinx me? Unfaaair!

There was a sense of extreme satisfaction around Dealla as she watched her friend’s sneezing, and took in Ileen’s watering eyes with a pleased nod. “Nope,” she replied, popping the p sound, and grinned. “I’m just good at this.

Ileen cleaned her nose exaggeratedly with an exaggerated air of nobility. "We should be able to do this more subtly. Let’s try it again.” She tried to put the wand movement to a minimum this time and only whispered the incarnation.

Dee was giggling into her sleeve at Ileen’s antics when the second hex hit her, and she sneezed once - twice - took a deep breath - and a third time, although more subtly this time, then went right back to giggling so hard she could barely stand. “Better,” she said approvingly once she had caught her breath, nodding crisply before relaxing into a grin. “You might actually be able to pull this off.

Not to be outdone, she raised her wand again, flicking it downwards and forwards, and spoke the incantation in a way that was barely more than a hiss - “STÉ-lee-us!” - then lowered it with a glint in her eye to watch the effects of this round.

Of course I will be able to do that. We will - achoo - have so much - achoo - fun with this!” Even though her eyes were tearing again and her stomach started to hurt, Ileen smiled proudly. This was glorious. She grabbed a few tissues and pressed them into her own face to get rid of all the tears and her runny nose. “What do you say? Ready for the idiotic allergies?

Dee grinned, nodding, and raised a hand to high-five her friend. “Best class ever.

Hex The Sneezing Hex, First Year
Backdated to Nell's First Year
The young first year made her way into the familiar History of Magic Classroom. The layout of the room was a bit different than usual, and Nell soon realised that the class would be learning a spell today. The Sneezing Hex, to be more specific. Nell was quite excited for this lesson, actually as she quite enjoyed spell lessons. As the professor explained everything the students needed to know, Nell drifted of into a train of thought and worry. Would she hurt anyone with this? Hopefully not. What if she did? Well, Nell didn't quite know.

The shuffling of feet brought the young girl back to reality as she began the short pronounciation pratise. "STÉ-lee-us." she repeated confidently. When the young girl finished, she went and found a spot to practise with another student. As Nell was getting situated, she erupted into a fit of sneezing. It felt like hours before hex finally wore off, and by then, Nell had had enough. She gave a slight nod to her smirking partner and potinted her want towards them. "STÉ-lee-us!" she incanted somewhat quietly as she moved her wand in the required motion: downwards and out. However, nothing happened.

The young girl frowned and looked down at her wand. She took a deep breath and pointed her wand once again to her partner. "Steleus!" she incanted along with performing the familiar wand motion. This time, the incantation flowed easiers and more familiarly, resulting in her partner doubled over sneezing. She smirked with content.
Professor Edit: Moving on to check on the next pair of students, Zahid noticed that the girl failed to cast the hex, despite her wand-movement and incantation seemingly being correct. Maybe it her confidence in her ability to cast the spell stopping her from casting it correctly – he had seen that happen many times, and had been a victim of that trap himself. Self-fulfilling prophecies and all that. Still, he gave her an approving nod as she did not let the failure deter her and simply tried the spell again. “Well done, Miss Zoldak.”

Backdated to Henry's first year
Permission given to godmode Altair Cometnova

Henry stepped into the history of magic classroom after lunch and seemly lost view of his friends, as he saw the wide opened space in the middle of room where the desks were suppose to be. Henry heard the professor say something about putting bags to the side so he placed his messager type bag on a desk then took a few steps to the center of the room where he heard that they will be learning the sneezing hex or Steleus that day in which Henry's hand shot right up in the air when he asked for a volunteer but he instead had to lower it when he didn't get called upon.

Henry listened as he heard the professor lecture to them about the sneezing charm before letting them practice with a partner. Henry looked around for his friends while he quietly spoke "STÉ-lee-us," Henry listened to himself carefully as to be sure that he didn't make a mistake before saying it again in a quiet voice "STÉ-lee-us." It sounded like Henry had got the pronunciation down so he took his wand out from his robes and held it in front of him a bit as he practiced the movements. Henry moved his wand downward quickly then outward to what would have been a partner, Henry was less confident with the movement so he practiced again; downward quicky then outward to a partner Henry moved his wand. Once he was done he looked around for his friend, the first year definitely gained some confidence and bravery from over the year as he practiced the movement one more time; downward quicky then outward to a partner Henry moved his wand one last time before looking for a friend to partner up with.

Henry finally found on in the back of the class, to which Henry started to walked back there and smile when he saw Altair; the first year hufflepuff who was one of his closest friends. The first year slytherin approached her as he spoke " hey Altair, want to partner up?" Henry waited for her to return his greeting and say yes before speaking again " great, I cast the hex first then you can go second? If your ok with that?" Henry waited for Altair to agree with him before pointing his wand at Altair and saying " Are you ready Altair?" Henry again waited for her to say yes before casting the hex "STÉ-lee-us," while moving his wand downward quickly then outward toward Altair which succeed as she started to sneeze.

Henry waited for her to stop sneezing before asking Altair " are you alright? Sorry if the hex was to powerful or something," Henry the smiled at his friend as he spoke again " I guess it's your turn, time to take revenge."

Hex The Sneezing Hex, First Year
October 2019 (First Year)
The second last class of the day that the green eyes girl attend was a snooze. In that class, Cash tried their best to open their eyes but their head lolled back and forth. After that class being dismissed by the Professor, Cash continue their track to the last class of the day. History of Magic.

Upon entering and seeing the chairs and tables was pushed into one side, the young serpent grin to themselves. Practical learning always make the brunette hair girl feel giddy inside. With nowhere to seat on, they stand among other people in the room. Professor Zahid told the class that today lesson will be Sneezing Hex.

Cash rose one of their eyebrows, ears perks up and their eyes glint with mischievousness. Professor Zahid told the class the proper incantation, pronunciation and the wand movement for the hex. Professor Zahid as usual told the class to practice the spell without using their own respective wand s to get the hang of the proper pronunciation.

"STÉ-lee-us"Cash spoke out with soft voice. "STÉ-lee-us"The green eyes girl said once again while making a mental note regarding the wand movement. When Cash is sure with themselves, Cash scans the room for their potential partner to hex at. They sighed when their peers already partnered up until a tap on their shoulder.

"Remember me?"The Hufflepuff girl looking at Cash with animosity. "Do I have to?"The young serpent asked the girl with sarcastic manner. The other girl growled out in annoyance. "Let's just partner up"The wavy red head girl said.

" Sure"Cash followed where the girl walked and stop when the girl stand in front of the classroom door. "Do you want to start first or should-"Cash was interrupt when the girl took out her wand, "Steleus!"The freckle red head girl express loud and clear.

Soon later the serpent let out a train of sneezing fit. "What-acho-is-aachoo-you're-acchoo-problem?!"Cash finally stated after the tingling sensation in their nose were gone.
"Serve you right!"The girl cross her hands in front of her chest. Cash then walk towards where the tissue box located and grab a tissue.

They walk back again to their partner and blow their nose, they will throw the dirty tissue to a near by trash can after class was over. After that ordeal had been done, Cash look at the girl again. Cash blink back and tried to remember where they met this girl and suddenly all is coming back towards them.

"Remember now?"The girl inquires after she saw the realization face the green eyes girl made. "Oh!"Cash uttered out. "It is not my fault"Cash defends themselves. "It is so your fault. You told your minions to hide my books"The other girl stomped her foot to the ground, acting like a brat. The red head Hufflepuff pinched the bridge of her nose and take a deep breathe.

"Let's just get over with so we're even"The girl told the serpent. "Right then"Cash then took out their wand. Move their wand downward quickly and outward toward the girl. "Steleus!"Cash cried out. A green spark come out from the tip of their wand and hit the other girl. Like an instant effect, the badger girl in sneezing fit like Cash did.

Cash smirk when the girl sneezes longer then the green eyes girl did. "Serve you right"They stated and let out a small satisfied laughter.

'Hex' wasn't a very pretty word, but it certainly seemed to fit the spell that forced Lucia's classmates to break out in sneezes. The boxes of tissues were quickly emptying, and Lucia ran to grab a handful before they ran out entirely, before giving a small smile to someone else standing in the corner looking lonely - a fellow socially awkward person, she guessed.
"Hey, I'm Lucia. Wanna partner?"
"Sure." They looked relieved, and after introductions had been made the two got out their wands to practice the spell. Lucia made sure to check the incantation first.
"Steleus!" she chanted under her breath, copying her Professor's wand movement. "Steleus!"
"You're doing it wrong." her partner interrupted. "It's pronounced 'STÉ-lee-us', not 'ste-leos'."
"Oh. Right. Thanks." Lucia flushed.
Her partner went first, and on the second attempt Lucia's tissues came into use.
Then, it was Lucia's turn.
"Steleus!" she chanted, moving her wand down and out. Her practice was rewarded, because a moment later her partner let out a huge sneeze, and Lucia rushed to supply them with tissues. "Sorry! Sorry..." she mumbled, but her partner didn't seem to mind and thrust all the tissues (apart from one to blow their nose with) back into Lucia's hands.

Hex The Sneezing Hex, First Year
Backdated: Flash's first year

Another chance to learn a spell from Professor Zahid had been offered, and Flash took the opportunity once again to fill out his known spells. This one was different, however, since it was a hex. Unlike with making bubbles that wouldn't pop, Flash could think of nearly infinite uses for making someone all snotted up. Even creatures had snot, didn't they? Couldn't one, for instance, make a troll get snotty and distracted? Not that he ever expected to come face-to-face with a troll, but he at least could sympathize personally with how incapacitating hay fever was. This spell certainly deserved to be called a hex.

Preemptively grabbing a wad of tissues for himself, not at all looking forward to the effect his partner's spell would have, he encouraged them to go first. For one, he wanted to get the wretched experience out of the way, and secondly, their success would only embolden his own confidence to cast. He had practiced with the rest of the group as instructed, but he was also a practical learner. Seeing his partner's reflected movements and pronunciation, as well as feeling the effect himself, would help him focus on doing the spell properly. It was awful, as expected, but Flash buried his face in the tissues to lessen the horrid affliction as best he could. Itchy... phlegmy... he figured he understood it well enough.

Once his nose had cleared, he straightened himself up with his wand at the ready. He tried to look as composed as he could, having been a sneezing mess only moments before. Coughing a bit to clear his throat, he felt like his wand encouraged him to return the hex. He and his wand were a team, and it wanted the chance to prove it. Swiping the wand downwards swiftly, then back out to his partner.

"STÉ-lee-us!"

Hopefully having seen Flash's own discomfort, his partner would be prepared for what was to come. He almost felt bad, but the feeling of wanting to perform perfectly outweighed that by far.

Professor Edit: Moving from student pair to student pair, Zahid was pleasantly surprised to see how many of them managed to cast - not perfectly of course, but at least somewhat successfully - the hex on their first tries. It certainly made for easy teaching. So he merely nodded to Mr. Holmwood and his partner as there was no need to correct their casting. "Good work. Carry on."

OCTOBER 2019

»»————- ✼ ————-««

Scarlett had recently discovered magic wasn't all it was hyped up to be.

Sure, it helped that you could wave your wand around and have your laundry do itself, or hex your enemies with a pig tail, but it took hard-work. Labour. Practice. Toil. And that was what Scarlett Evelyn Aden hated. Perhaps that was why she wasn't in Hufflepuff. Unafraid of toil? Scarlett scoffed. She technically wasn't afraid of anything but she certainly wasn't willing to do the grunt work if there was some easier way. People often thought Gryffindors were quite similar to Hufflepuffs - ready to go hands on, whilst Ravenclaws and Slytherins managed to find an easier route with their devious ways. Please. That was all stereotypes and cliches. In fact, many Gryffindors she knew didn't exactly love putting in effort. Unless, of course, the effort was for a greater and more noble cause.

Like pranks, for example. Prank were noble - they were simply honouring the memory of Fred and George Weasley, the infamous Hogwarts twins. Right?

Anyway, the redhead had ventured into her next lesson - learning the Sneezing Hex with Professor...what was he called again? She couldn't remember, but vaguely had the idea that it was a bit long. So, Professor-what's-his-name arrived just a few seconds after Scarlett ran into class, panting and grabbing her wand out of her school bag. She had an unfortunate habit of being late, and even though she had admittedly arrived later than her peers, the teacher had not yet come into the class either.

Now the teacher was here, Scarlett listened intently. A Sneezing Hex could be useful and a very valuable hex to know in life. The class did what he said, putting their bags to the side and watching in awe as a rather tall blond Ravenclaw became the unsuspecting volunteer of the Professor's skilled hex. Afterwards, he just explained a bit more - Scarlett's eyes ocassionally darted around the room, slightly bored - before it was time. Time to cast the spell.

Scarlett looked at her partner idly. "Alright, who's going first?"

"I - I guess you?" answered her partner, who seemed to be more the timid type, in need of a boost of courage. At least they weren't like one of the students at the Sorting, who seemed to be a blubbering mess like the world was going to collapse on their shoulders at any moment.

"All right then," said Scarlett, who promptly aimed her wand at her partner before they could react. She practised the movement a few times at first - quickly downwards, out towards your target - before pointing at her partner, moving her wand and saying, quite confidently, "Steleus!"

It did not work. She glared at her wand and tried again, the wand moving with such precision, the incantation said in a smooth and clear voice -

Nothing happened.

"Damn you wand!" Scarlett gave it a little shake.

"Per - perhaps you were saying it wrong," said her partner quietly. "Professor Masoud said to say it like STÉ-lee-us,"

So his name was Professor Masoud. And she was saying the incantation wrong. Drat. One part of her urged herself to completely ignore her partner and continue. After all, Scarlett was probably right, right? The other part told her to get over her stupid stubbornness and try it the way her partner had suggested. A fierce mental battle ensued, which the latter side finally won.

"Oh fine," grumbled Scarlett, aiming her wand yet again. Third time lucky, perhaps? She moved her wand, her mouth forming the words, "STÉ-lee-us!"

She pronounced it the way her partner had, and it worked. The girl promptly doubled over in sneezes, her nose instantly cherry-red.

ACHOO!

"I -"

ACHOO!

"Need a -"

ACHOO!

"Tissue!" hacked out her partner, before stumbling off in search of them.

Scarlett watched her partner leave. She felt quite proud to be honest. If only she didn't have to have the hex cast on her in return.

Professor Edit: Checking on the next pair's progress, Zahid suppressed a sigh. Seemed like he would need to remind his students again that he had asked them to call him Professor Zahid, after all, Masoud had been his father. Oh, well, he would remind them the next time he took roll call. For now he merely congratulated the Gryffindor on her success. "Well done, Miss Aden."

Amara glanced over at her elegantly written notes that she had taken over the course of the lecture. The neat script, with the wand movements and incarnation, underlined. Before the first-year Slytherin turned over to her partner to begin, she practiced the wand movements while mouthing the words. Pulling her wand down quickly and then outward to the left. Falling into a simple pattern of repeating this for a bit, Amara started to feel quite comfortable with the movements. The blonde glanced over at her partner who also seemed to be ready.

Pulling a pack of tissues out of her bag and setting them on the table, Amara sat primly as her partner recited the spell. Nothing seemed to happen until a small snort-like sneeze came out of Amara's button nose. "Excuse me"she muttered, grabbing one of the tissues to cover her nose with.

Once the sneezing had subsided, Amara turned to face her partner, "STÉ-lee-us" she recited, pulling her dark wood wand down and out in front of her ready partner. The steady movements and clear pronunciation seemed to have done their jobs as the person sitting across from Amara starts to erupt in sneezes. Amara passes over the tissues and packs up her bag as class seems to be over already.

As katherine entered professor zahids room she heard that this was the end of the lessons oh well everything comes to an end she thought,She also heard that today they are going to learn the sneezing hex she watched as professor zahid demonstrated how to do it. She noted mentally every movement and it looked easy nothing was a challenge to katherine she didn't need to practise how it was pronounced the word itself was easy she thought "STÉ-lee-us" easy all she had to master was her wand movements downwards then outwards she practised on her wand.

As soon as she was ready a boy from slytherin had asked her to be his partner katherine accepted and got ready in front of him she got out her wand and stood in a good position all she had to do was concentrate the boy had asked her to go first well katherine didn't mind. She concentrated on what angered her, She mostly concentrated in the sadness she bottles up since sadness is known as a weak emotion as her father said so what better way to bottle out then on a hex.She focused on her sadness and anger,She made sure the word was on the tip of her tongue she then moved her wand downwards then outwards and said confidently"STÉ-lee-us". she felt that pain and anger just leave her she knew it was her source of power she felt it blast on the slytherin boy and watched as he sneezed quite strongly she grinned and drew a smirk on her face but she knew it was her turn she got ready and waited for the boy to blast.
Professor Edit: Zahid was slightly worried about the Gryffindor girl as he walked over to the next pair. She looked almost constipated as she prepared to cast her spell, but it seemed that she had only been intently concentrating as her expression immediately turned into a smirk as her hex hit her partner. “Nice work, Miss Labrouder.”
