Wake Up! PV O. Lock Finished

@Oliver Lock
Maggie really didn’t mean to fall asleep, honestly. However, her least favorite class combined with the fact that she had around four hours of sleep last night really didn’t bode well for her, which is why she could be found sleeping at her desk in History of Magic, her head resting on top of her arms that were folded on the rickety old thing, the occasional light snore emitting from the pile of robes and brown hair. If she was conscious, she would’ve wondered why her Professor hadn’t noticed her sleeping yet, or if he had spared her and let her snooze through the lesson. Either way, Maggie wasn’t complaining— she needed sleep to function, and when she didn’t have it, she was more often than not a complete mess. She was dreaming now, it was a nice dream— she was running around in a park with her siblings, weaving in and out of the sprinklers and pushing eachother into their paths. Maggie had just been playfully shoved into a jet of water by one of her older brothers, Cooper, when— she felt something hit the back of her head. She turned around, was it the sprinkler? She slowly began to fade out of her dream and into the real world when she realized someone was throwing paper balls at her head, and her Professor was staring down at her with a stern gaze. She laughed lightly and said, “Sorry Professor,” in a light voice that she didn’t often use. After her Professor has left, she turned back to the person sitting behind her, grinning as she recognized the familiar face. “Thanks Oliver.” she whispered, grinning at the boy. Even though he had woken her up from a semi-wonderful dream, she appreciated the fact that he looked out for her by waking her up. Plus, she doubted she would ever get mad at Oliver— I mean, c’mon, how could you get mad at that face? He was cute, but that didn’t mean Maggie had any feelings for him, right? “Professor probably would’ve killed me if you hadn’t woken me up,” she said, laughing lightly and turning back around to her seat as the Professor gave her a sharp glare.

Wake Up! PV O. Lock Finished
Oliver stared solemnly out the large glass window, his head in one hand and the other rested on some bare parchment where he should've been taking notes. Although Oliver considered himself to be hard-working, he always struggled when it came to this dull lesson. His head was in the clouds today, and instead of attempting to focus on work, he let his mind wander.
The weather outside was just as dim as the lesson, he tried to find something to entertain his eyes, but clearly, the window wasn't working, his eyes paced around the room, dancing from little detail to another until they finally settled upon a friend. Maggie. her eyes sealed shut, Oliver immediately smiled, rather relieved he wasn't the only one finding this lesson a drag. Oliver tilted his head, his brows furrowed lightly. It was unmistakable, she had a sweet little smile planted on her face, her eyes fluttering a little.
Oliver felt the corners of his mouth tug into a smile, he placed his head back into the palm of his hand, head still tilted, and eyes still focused on the brunettes little smile.
I bet I look like a right weirdo He thought, promptly staring back down to the barren piece of paper, only a few seconds went by when he could feel his dark eyes wandering back to the brunette. He suddenly snapped out of his daze when the professor began to wander toward the desks, he instinctively swept the piece of paper off his desk, crumbling it up between his fists. He hesitated for a moment, he didn't really want to wake her up, but he definitely didn't want her to get caught. He aimed it for the top of her head and threw it. it went a little further than he expected it to, but it got the job done.
It bounced lightly onto Maggie's head and then rolled onto the floor, just barely hiding under her desk. He felt a relieved wave flow over him when her eyes fluttered open, unfortunately, the professor was sternly staring down at her. She uttered an apology in a fair tone, Oliver watched the event unfold until the professor's eyes scanned over him, he then quickly glanced down, still feeling the firm gaze on the side of his face.
He heard his footsteps get quieter as he moved back to the front of the class, Oliver cautiously looked up and Maggie was smiling, looking toward him. He flashed a pure smile, his eyes beaming at her. A part of Oliver felt bad he had disturbed her from her sleep, maybe she really needed it.
"Professor probably would’ve killed me if you hadn’t woken me up,” she said quietly, letting out a soft chuckle, which sent butterflies directly to Oliver's stomach.
He was a little confused, maybe he was just nervous she nearly got caught.
He looked toward the Professor the second Maggie did, he had the most livid expression on his face. Oliver had to subtly cover his mouth with his hand to contain a laugh.
A few moments passed, Oliver shot a few impressions of the Professor's expression toward Maggie, giggling a little.
"Are you okay?" He whispered.
"You're not too tired are you?"
Oliver cared for Maggie very much, not only was she his first friend at Hogwarts, but he'd felt they had a genuine connection. He felt he could always go to Maggie with a problem and he felt so comfortable when he talked to her. He'd always admired so much about Maggie, the way she could light up a room was one of them. But he was sure everyone felt that way about her. He was sure all her friends were aware of those qualities. He wasn't so sure why they seemed to make him feel so nervous though.

After a few moments, Maggie couldn’t help but glance back at Oliver, catching the impressions he was doing of their Professor. She giggled, holding a hand over her mouth so her Professor wouldn’t catch her and Oliver laughing. “Are you okay?” he whispered, leaning over his desk slightly so she could hear him. His semi-curly hair flopped over his forehead, streaks of gold highlighted in the dim light of the room. Maggie realized she was staring once Oliver had said something else, she though it was about sleep? She quickly averted her gaze, coughing as a light blush spread across her cheeks. Scratching the back of her neck awkwardly, she pretended that she noticed the Professor glaring at them again and quickly turned around in her seat. Staring blankly at her paper, she drummed her fingers on her desk, a storm of thoughts in her head. Oliver was just a friend. A really, really, really cute friend that she had no feelings for. Even if she did, however, he wouldn’t feel the same way in a million years, right? She didn’t, though. Even if she forgot what to say everytime they made eye contact and even if classes with him were some of the best parts of her day. They were just friends. She looked at her blank sheet of paper, for out her quill, and scribbled a note onto it. It was a cruel drawing of their Professor leaning over a sleeping Maggie, an evil expression on his face. She handed it back to Oliver when her Professor wasn’t looking.

Maggie didn't reply, staring at him with the sweet smile beginning to fade out, but still peering at Oliver. Oliver's eyes fixated onto her soft features. Her eyes flickered when the light from the window hit them, illuminating the ocean light blue color, her pupils a little dilated. Her brunette waves seemed to curl against her face, accentuating the crimson color that was creeping up her cheeks. Oliver was in a daze, a familiar warmth settling itself in the pit of his stomach, his chest felt as if roots began sprouting inside and crawling up his throat, closing it up. He couldn't speak a sentence. He began to feel a little warmth in his cheeks. Maggie swiftly shifted her gaze down toward her desk, jerking Oliver from his trance.
Was something wrong with him? he thought leaning back into his seat.
Do I have something on my face?, I bet I looked like a right fool, gawking at her.
He felt himself shrink a little, as he sunk into his seat. Maggie must have thought him to be so odd, staring at her like that. Oliver wasn't sure why he felt so upset about this. Maggie was his friend. Who was he kidding, Maggie was probably the most liked girl in Hogwarts, she had so many friends. Oliver probably didn't mean an awful lot to Maggie. Just the timid boy she knew from some of her classes. All her friends weren't like Oliver, they were all so confident and charismatic, Oliver had no such traits, nothing to compete with them. Oliver felt a surge of something, he wasn't sure what. He felt so apprehensive yet, intimidated.
Why would he want to compete? compete against Maggie's friends, but for what reason? He was just feeling jealous, that must be it he thought.
Maybe he wanted that many friends or just wanted to be close to Maggie. Oliver's swarm of thoughts left him in a rather heavy mood. He ran a hand through his hair, sighing lightly. He glanced up and Maggie was holding up a small piece of paper. Oliver took it from her hands gently, remembering to be cautious of the professor's gaze. He lay it flat onto his desk, resting his weight onto his folded arms at the edge of the desk, hanging his head to get a closer look. He felt a quiet chuckle leave him. It was a little sketch of a sleeping Maggie, and the professor with a dark expression on his face staring down at her.
Oliver looked up toward Maggie, grinning widely.
Even if he wasn't her closest friend, he was rather glad they could laugh like this together.

Maggie felt a surge of pride in her stomach when she heard Oliver’s laughter from behind, and a little smirk grew on her face. She wasn’t entirely sure why it made her so happy that Oliver had found her funny, but she had an idea. The bell had rung, and class was beginning to come to a close. It was the end of a day, on a Friday, at that, but Maggie, and most of the other students, were so tired and bored from that lesson that the usual excitement accompanying the last class on a Friday wasn’t really prominent. Maggie, however, was excited. Or, nervous, really, but she tried to convince herself it was excitement when she turned around to face Oliver Lock in his full glory. “Hey, Oliver,” she began, her face already beginning to heat up. She liked Oliver, as a friend, and she wasn’t sure why she always got so, well, blushy around him. “Do you want to hang out or something over the weekend?” she asked, grinning at the boy. “We barely hang out unless it’s, y’know, in class, and I think it’d be cool if we hung out outside of school, y’know?” she explained, stumbling over her words and adding more y’know’s than she could count.

the bell rang, both to oliver's excitement and disappointment. he was glad this class was over, but a little let down that it would be likely for him not to see maggie until the weekend was over. he swept his desk clean, hesitating a little as he went. he shoved his things into his bag, a quiet sigh leaving his mouth. he could feel his mood jolt, as he heard a familiar voice in front of him.
"hey, oliver," maggie said, and oliver immediately met her eyes before she finished speaking. she had a very happy grin on her face, oliver could feel his cheeks get a little warmer.
"do you want to hang out or something over the weekend?" she said, still grinning. "we barely hang out unless it's, y'know, in class, and i think it'd be cool if we hung outside of school, y'know."
"yes" oliver replied, too quickly. "i mean yes. yeah i'd love to, it'd be fun." he tried to backtrack, feeling his face grow even hotter. he cleared his throat, trying to compose himself, before he could even think he had already decided what to do.
"how about the lake, i mean, if you want to that is." he scratched the back of his neck. his eyes seemed to go everywhere except maggie. "how about tomorrow, if you can that is." he took a gulp, and gave a sheepish smile. to his relief, his cheeks began to feel a little less warm.
