Note: I'll be using a banner when I'm playing Delphine in threads, but this is her FC for reference because I haven't come up with something that I like, yet. :sweatingbullets:
Name: Delphine Desmarais
Status: Pureblood
School: Beauxbatons
Year: 2

Appearance: Delphine is tall (5'6) and thin, with short red hair and blue-green eyes. It is common, however, for her to dye her hair various different colors. She's been able to engage more in her passions for sewing and styling since she's moved in with her grandparents, so her wardrobe is full of eclectic colors and patterns.

Personality: Delphine is a very impulsive girl, who is blunt and often speaks her mind without a filter (which sometimes gets her in trouble). While her cousin Eyre fights with fists, she believes that words are more effective. She is a social butterfly, a flirt, and loves attracting the attention of others by being as boisterous as possible. That's why, along with fashion, she enjoys extroverted hobbies such as theatre and music. Although she genuinely loves her hobbies and being in the company of other people, her pressure to remain on top of the food chain is often a coping mechanism to deal with her deep sense of insecurity and self-doubt, especially with the absence of her mother.

History: Delphine Desmarais was born on September 30th 2007 to Genevieve Desmarais, the younger sister of Camilla Desmarais (who would later marry Ivan Reeves). Delphine never knew her father, as Genevieve was the type that never had a man around for long, but she does know for certain that he was a pureblood whom her mother had met at a ball. Her mother, as she was the youngest and not the heir of the household, was practically given free rein to do what she wanted. So, she took her daughter and lived in Saint Cirq-Lapopie, a beautiful village near Paris where many muggles lived. Delphine liked this quaint upbringing, but it was made better with the presence of her grandparent's fortune to keep them living comfortably.

To the delight of her mother, Delphine grew to be a sunny and extroverted young lady. Genevieve was never the type that wanted to subject her daughter to the endless balls and social events that she had to deal with in her childhood, so she was delighted to see her flourish and make lots of different friends from all sorts of different backgrounds without having to relying on them. Fashion was one of the first things that really intrigued Delphine as a child. In fact, her first magical incident was spurred when she was around 5 and she was forced to wear a plain white gown as a flower girl at a wedding. The guests of the wedding got a shock when the young child came down the alley in the dress that was dyed a dark blue, a stark comparison from the other members of the bridal party. Thankfully they were in the company of wizards, so Genevieve was able to switch her back, but from that point forward her mother never forced her to be a part of an event where she couldn't choose her outfit.

It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows for them, as Genevieve wasn't the best person in the world. She would often get in trouble for reckless behavior which put a strain on her relationship with Delphine's grandparents and aunt. In December 2019, Genevieve was sent to prison for a crime that Delphine unfortunately witnessed. The young girl was then sent to live with her grandparents, who chose to not bail her mother out as they thought that she deserved her sentence. Delphine had always been attached to her mother, looking at her through rose-tinted glasses. For that reason, she grew to resent her grandparents. Regardless of how cold she is towards them, her grandparents still spoil her as a way to make up for the absence of her mother. Delphine, of course, takes full advantage of this. They're very soft on her as they're worried that putting their foot down would result in her growing to be like her mother, even when it's clear that she needs guidance.

So far at Beauxbatons, it's been established that Delphine cares more about her social life than her studies, and is quite picky when it comes to the subjects that she actually bothers to learn. If anything, the only reason why she chooses to keep her grades adequate in the subjects that she deems boring is to continue to broom race for her school. When she is zooming through the sky on her broom, she feels truly unstoppable and far away from anything that might be holding her back.

one morning this sadness will fossilize and i will forget how to cry. ☆

Charmer

You are just distracting. Distracting to look at perhaps. Maybe it is your wit or your charm, your grace or something else about you that is intangible but absolutely present.
Effect: -1 accuracy to all of your opponents (as defined at the start of the instance regardless of later betrayal). This ability does not stack.

Without her charming nature, Delphine would not be where she is today. She has cultivated her image in it, and it is the one trick that she has up her sleeve that benefits her more than almost anything else. It was her mother who taught her what she knows, as she had always been quite captivating herself. Genevieve's power to charm and manipulate social situations for her desired outcome was something that Delphine had picked up on, and before she knew it she was able to do it too. Most people have a hard time resisting the cute freckled redhead, with her witty comments, beaming smiles and eccentric wardrobe. Her confidence is something that brings people to her, the one character trait that makes her soar above those who are less charming than she is.

Since she's come to live with her grandparents after her mother had gone to jail, she has been able to use it to her full advantage on them. Living with them made her realize how much she's able to get away with her tactics, since they are good-natured people who despise conflict. If she wants something, she knows that she can get it with a clever bat of an eye and an innocent smile. Where some pre-teens her age have to beg their parents and throw tantrums to get what they want, Delphine only has to work her magic and they're wrapped around her little finger.

Her charm also gets her out of trouble, too. One might think that honesty is a virtuous trait, but Delphine is too honest. She isn't afraid to go out of her way to tell you that what you're wearing is ugly, or to tell you that you're being an idiot. She often pairs this with a smile or a laugh so they're unsure of if she's joking or not. Instead of being viewed as rude for these comments, she comes off as more of a playful tease...if she's lucky, that is. Delphine isn't without her fair share of people who dislike her, but it's much easier for her to pretend to be the 'bigger person' and walk away with a flounce whenever she is confronted. That, in itself, is a card that she plays often.

She will never admit it to herself, but her charm coupled with her extroversion boosts her up and deflects from the weaknesses that she does have. To pretend to be an untouchable person that doesn't fall prey to insecurities is much easier than admitting to herself that she isn't perfect. Being charming isn't only the foundation for who Delphine is as a person, but is also her crutch.

Delphine hadn't even been back home for more than a day when it happened. She was happy to be home for Christmas, because she missed her mother and was meaning to tell her about all of the different shenanigans she'd done during the past four months at Beauxbatons. She was bundled up in her bed asleep when the chaos broke loose downstairs. The shouting was so loud that Delphine bolted straight up out of bed, her heart pounding in her chest as if it were a nightmare. She cautiously slipped out of bed, before walking to the door. She pushed it open and made her way down the hallway and down the stairs, careful to not make a sound.

Delphine couldn't exactly make out what they were saying, as the shouting was coming from the kitchen, but she knew for certain that the argument was between her mother and someone else. By the time that she made it to the foot of the stairs and into the living room, all she saw was a flaming red explosion coming from the doorway leading into their kitchen. Sounds of shrieking reverberated off the walls and smoke filled the house. Delphine made the mistake of scrambling over to the door once the fire stopped, and what she saw, she'd never forget.

Once she was put into her grandparent's custody and she went back to Beauxbatons, she started to show signs of impulsivity. It started off with small things, like calling out silly rebuttals in the middle of her potion's class for a laugh, but then it soon turned into more dangerous things such as provoking older students that clearly did better magic than she did. And even after receiving a few detentions for her obnoxious behavior and being sent to the hospital wing after she told a large half-giant that her hair looked like an owl had pooed on her head, she still kept doing it.

Some are taken aback by how fearless she can be, and for good reason. Although she can be a fun person to be around and someone to rely on if you want a straight answer to something, most don't understand why she cares so little about putting herself in questionable situations. The truth is, after that night, she knows that nothing could be worse than seeing your own mother set someone on fire. No outcome or hurt feelings could be as horrible as what she witnessed on that day, so whenever she is faced with something that has dire consequences, she is resolved to jump in without looking back. And that's what makes Delphine truly fearless.
