She cares deeply about others, but doesn't really stick up for herself and will follow orders without much thought. She is very book smart, growing up reading a lot, but she lives a closeted life and has a very weak understanding of how the world works.
History: Verena was born into the Marigold family, a long line of pureblood wizards that have resided in the Netherlands for many generations. Their notoriety comes from their early defiance of the Ministry's rules against Muggles sighting magic, being reckless and sometimes purposefully performing magical acts in front of them. They most notably participated in the Roermond witch trial, where a lot of the family died because it. After this event and strict disciplinary action from the Ministry, they put full stop to their behavior. Since then, they've been accumulating wealth and trying their best to keep their name clear.
Cornelia Marigold is Verena's mother, marrying into the family through Kobus Marigold. Her family, De Vries, is also an old pureblood family from the Netherlands with close ties to the Marigold's that ended up with them being arranged to be married. Verena's father isn't Kobus, though, as she is the fruits of an affair. The alleged father is a French muggle-born that was best friends with Cornelia at Beauxbatons, Rayan Cambre. This makes Verena the first half-blood with the Marigold name in a long time.
Verena's tainted blood status remains a secret to everyone, including Verena, except Kobus and Cornelia. Kobus and Cornelia have yet to have another child than her, so they need to keep up the illusion that she's the pure heir to the fortune as to not tarnish the Marigold name. There's been Muggles in the tree itself, but the line that has inherited the fortune has been forced to be pure for a while.
Verena's parents, especially her father, always seemed to not be content with whatever she was doing, so that made her very obedient, constantly wanting to please the people who raised her. This lead to her spending much of her childhood learning and developing skills instead of having fun. Notable skills she was forced to learn include fencing, history of magic, dance, and being trilingual, Dutch as her native language, English as most Hollander children learned, and French in preparation for her Beauxbatons' education.
Despite her family's beliefs that blood status affects magical ability, Verena possessed a strong magical ability that showed itself late into childhood. When she was seven, she kept messing up the ballet routine she was being taught and got more and more frustrated. By the end of the day angry tears were streaming down her face, and suddenly the dance room she was in exploded. No one got hurt, but there was a lot of paying off people to make sure no one talked about it.

Her early life studies made her well prepared, and she became a great student, particularly excelling at History of Magic. The public eye was enticed by her even when she was a baby. According to them, Verena was the first child of Kobus and Cornelia who had been having trouble producing an heir for a while. She was an enigma, especially considering she was a female heir in a patriarchy.
As Verena grew up, she was groomed to be the graceful and elegant heir of the Marigold inheritance. Her parents knew that she would be viewed differently as a female, expected to keep the public image of the name and grow the wealth as much as possible. Everything from strict disciplinary actions to developing 'prim and proper' skills like dance and fencing. She spent most of her time with adults in early childhood, developing their mannerisms and abandoning her natural child-like one's overtime.
Even if Verena wasn't groomed in every single way to grace everyone she met, she naturally had a lot of charisma and amazed everyone around her. She radiated a sense of calm that made everyone around her enchanted, so much so that people were intimidated coming near her. It was like she had a magnetic forcefield, everyone was drawn to her but never came too close. It made making friends a bit difficult, but Varena didn't worry about that too much.

The Marigold family tree, like many other pureblood families, have stayed this way because of their beliefs that more magic inside of a wizard, and in turn the less Muggle, the more powerful their magic. While time and time again, this has proved to not necessarily be true as many Muggle-born and Half-Blood wizards have grown to be extremely powerful, the Marigold's still stick to tradition.

While everyone else in the tree had no Muggle blood in them, at least none they would admit too, Verena's biological father came from a line of completely magicless folk, Rayan being a rare breed of Muggle-born. For her early childhood, her parents groomed her so she could impress everyone with her wisdom rather than her magical flair.
By the time she turned seven, Verena had yet to show any signs of magical ability. While she could've just been a late bloomer, her parents started to worry the Muggle blood had contaminated her and made her a Squib. Nonetheless, there wasn't much they could do but hope that her magic would eventually shine through.
When Verena was practising dance one day, she kept slipping up her routine, and the instructor noticed almost immediately. Kobus and Cornelia had purposefully selected a strict dance instructor that would keep Verena in line, which led to a lot of conflict between the two of them. On this particular day, the instructor decided Verena would start the routine over every time she made a mistake. By the end of the day, tears were streaming down her cheeks from frustration.
The instructor had enough, Verena was sitting on the ground, refusing to get up or move. In a moment of anger, she grabbed her face and reeled up to slap her. All these emotions; fear, anger, anguish, were built up inside of her, and she finally let it out. Verena closed her eyes and screamed, and as soon as the sound left her mouth an invisible explosion let out around her. It carried the instructor across the studio and into the wall. The glass wall shattered, the floors and ceiling cracked, and the door busted out. She opened her eyes, and she was standing in a small crater.
Verena hadn't caused anyone to get hurt, though the instructor was upset since she couldn't sue, but it did cost quite a hefty bit for her parents to pay off anyone who witnessed it.
