Crispin Rhys Finley
|
Appearance:Personality:Height: 5ft 5in
Weight: 105lbs
Crispin is slightly tall for his age, standing only an inch or two over most of his classmates, and is a strapping young boy. His chocolate brown hair is slightly curled and worn longer than most boys, but not quite long enough to tie back. To match his hair, his eyes are a chestnut brown, which can appear darker or lighter shade. A naturally olive complexion, Crispin tans quite easily. To round it all off, Crispin has a dashing smile that he flashes winningly and quite often.

History:▹Enthusiastic | Indecisive
Enthusiasm and indecisiveness go hand-in-hand with Crispin. When there is something that he's passionate about he goes at it full force, but more often than not, will abandon it once something else takes his fancy. This isn't to say he's insincere with his enthusiasm, just that his attention doesn't always hold til things are seen through to the end. Rather, Crispin cares too much and can't keep himself to one thing at a time but spreads himself too thin.
▹Observant | Opinionated
To say that Crispin likes to be in the know would be spot on. He prides himself on knowing the ins and outs of his fellow classmates. This can be a bit too much at times though, may of his classmates say that he needs to keep his nose out of where it doesn't belong. Not to mention that his opinions of what his classmates do can be blunt and unwelcome, even if he does have the best intentions.
▹Easygoing | Independent
Crispin is a laid-back kind of guy, he enjoys hanging out with other people and will let things flow without too much interference. He is an independent bean as well though, and though he gives his advice freely, often looks down on others who try to give him advice. Being independent isn't always a bad thing though, it means that Crispin isn't afraid to figure things out for himself.A cold blustery day in February welcomed Crispin Rhys Finley into the world. The youngest boy in a family of four, Crispin led a quiet life growing up along the Oregon coast with his two elder sisters, brother, mother, and father. Of wizard heritage (but who knows, maybe some muggle in there on his fathers' side) Crispin and his siblings were mostly kept away from muggles growing up. With his mother, Alyss, working as a west coast correspondent for MACUSA they could hardly do otherwise. Tom, Crispins' father, often voiced his protests against this treatment of muggles. Claiming that the magical community was much more likely to harm the muggles than the other way around.
When Crispin was born his brother, Sean, was already in his second year at Ilvermorny. By the time Crispin was five all of his siblings were enrolled at Ilvermorny, most of his summers were then spent with his siblings recounting their adventures. This made Crispin jealous and impatient for when he would finally begin his time at the school. When he finally received his letter to begin his own journey at Ilvermorny, he was beyond excited, he was literally bouncing off the walls.
Crispins first year at Ilvermorny wasn't to be quite the adventure he had been anticipating. His eldest sibling, Sean had been out of Ilvermorny for a few years and had landed himself a job in New York at the MACUSA. He was thriving there and had met and fallen in love with, of all people, a muggle girl. Emma and Sean were soon engaged and to be married during Crispins' first winter break at Ilvermorny. When the day arrived, there could not have been a happier couple and Crispins' father was thrilled that his son would help end the prejudice against muggles in the US.
This joy was short-lived. Soon after returning to Ilvermorny, horrible news came to the Finley family. While starting out on their honeymoon, Sean and Emma were attacked by an unknown group of wizards. Sean fought valiantly but to no avail, he was soon overpowered and the group showed no mercy. A note was left with Sean and Emmas' bodies, threatening other witches and wizards that they too would meet the same fate if they married muggles.
Sean and Emma's deaths tore Crispin apart. He had idolized his elder brother and the sudden absence of him was like a knife that twisted deeper and deeper every moment Crispin thought of him. The rest of his first year passed Crispin by in a hazy blur.
His second year brought with it growth and healing, but some scars never fade. Crispin grew distrustful of other wizard-borns and also bore a resentment of muggles and muggle-borns. They were the reason his brother wasn't here, and in his young mind there had to be someone to blame for the horror he had faced.
Now starting his third year at Ilvermorny, Crispin is beginning to come to terms with the fact that sometimes things happen without reason. Though still not fully open with wizard-borns, muggles, and muggle-borns, Crispin is trying to see people for themselves, and not their birth. It's a difficult road that has many setbacks, but he is plowing forward.

Indeed there are some tensions between the magic and the non-magic community that are ongoing. On the surface, this school appears to be very open and inclusive but much like you, not everyone trusts muggles. While some muggle-borns and mixed bloods return home during the holidays, some stay and their time at the school is filled with activities to prove them with diversion and "culture." Some of the upper classmen are suspicious of the muggle-borns and mixed heritage students that leave to the no-mag homes and then return. You may or may not be an exception to this.
Participating in this pen-pal thing may be something you volunteered for or it might have been something that you were asked to do. In either case, it is a bit off one could say. You see, the students that are participating in this activity are primarily muggle-borns and mixed bloods with a sprinkling of wizard borns and purebloods. It is pretty weird but the people with no-mag families seem to get 'all of the attention' these days.
To live will be an awfully big adventure
