Appearance:
Kael is relatively slender for his age, with hollow cheeks and sharp features. His dark brown hair is usually straight and well kept. Kael’s eyes show a quiet analytical intelligence to round out his unique face. He tends to be very well dressed, although his fashion choices might be considered a bit too professional or outdated for some. But it shows a clear understanding and enjoyment towards fashion. At home, however, Kael keeps his outfits more simple. Casual dress clothes or button down shirts to give him a clean look while saving his more eclectic and effeminate looks for when he is out or at school. Kael is 5’7” and still growing, which may contribute to his slender build.

Personality:
To balance out the energy of his twin, Kael is a calm and quieter individual. However, he can be quick to defensive anger if he or his friends are crossed. He prefers to think through his actions and can be quite careful in his selection of words. Around those he does not know or does not like, Kael might come off as stiff or cold but his demeanor quickly softens around those he cares for. Kael believes he deserves a level of respect and anything that might be taken as disrespect and invokes his wrath. He is slowly learning to relax more and be less cold but there is still a ways to go.

History:
The Vesa family lived near to Helsinki and had already one child so the birth of twins was not exactly planned but they were a happy addition to the family. There is some debate as to who came out first but Kael strongly believes he is the older twin despite their parents never confirming nor denying it. Always away on business, Kael’s infant years involved being raised by a series of nannies. Their family was relatively wealthy but servants and nannies were still rather poor substitutes for the parents but they had to make do.

As Kael grew up, he was the quieter twin but still spent most of his time with his sister, Kirsi. His older brother, Pyry, was 6 years older and seemed to have nothing but hate for his younger siblings. Kael was a frequent recipient of his brother’s beatings growing up, largely to save Kirsi from having to face the temperamental man. Kael’s quiet demeanor was largely a result of those early years and the fear of saying something that might bring his brother’s wrath.

Even Kael’s first instance of magic can largely be attributed to the hatred he held for his brother. At the age of eight, Kael watched as Pyry made his sister break down to tears. As Kael’s anger rose, all of the glass cabinets and shelves in the living room suddenly erupted into pieces. The moment terrified and surprised Kael while it only seemed to provoke Pyry. Upon the return of their parents, there was an uncomfortable mix of pride towards Kael's instance of magic and disappointment towards their rowdy child.

Even if they never got along, Kael was thankful that their brother's anger slowly shifted to what seemed like complete indifference. They avoided him and he avoided them and everyone was able to stay civil.

Kael was excited to begin school, although his interactions with people beyond his sister were limited. While his sister had remained hyper and social, Kael enjoyed the quiet that he was able to find at the school. It became a safe place for him to enjoy his more artistic pursuits such as photography and sketching. He was able to make some like-minded friends but his twin sister remained his closest friend.

With a sharp mind, Kael was a naturally strong student and took his studies seriously. While there were topics that he wasn’t interested in, he knew that he needed to maintain high marks if he was going to impress his parents. Also, it became a point of pride. His ability to succeed and actually be good at school allowed him to avoid some of the assumptions levied against him as just a sulking rich kid.

By his second year, he only further focused on really mastering his studies. He wanted to be powerful. Powerful enough to protect those he cared for, so he overwhelmingly focused on his academics over a social life. He continued the more creative pursuits that he enjoyed but he kept somewhat to himself unless forced into social scenarios by his sister. Over the summer leading up to his third year, Kael spent much of the time travelling to Southern Europe with the family of one of his closest friends in an attempt to be more social. While enjoyable, he did find himself missing some of the quiet that he was able to carve out back home but with the approaching school year he knew he would find it once more.

The return to school allowed him the solace he was looking for. There were plenty of places around the school that he could escape to or be lost in his own thoughts. Although it seemed that his sister frequently prodded him back into social situations. But Kael did become more comfortable expressing himself in his clothing choices and with just an overall more confident demeanor. He remained quiet but his previous shyness had been replaced with a calm and analytical perspective. It allowed him to enjoy more social endeavors without feeling too out of place. Slowly Kael began to enjoy at least being in the proximity of other students. He was a bit sad when he needed to return home for the summer but he was pretty sure his sister would have hunted him down if he abandoned her again.

Kael spent much of his time practicing photography and enjoying his expressive fashion over the summer. Endless hours were spent wandering the wilderness around their home while he had his camera ready. It was a peaceful and relaxing summer that reminded Kael how much he enjoyed his sister’s company despite their vastly different demeanors. But he was even more excited as the return to school inched ever closer and he would be able to return to his studies that seemed to grow in complexity. He hoped their fourth year would prove eventful.
