Greenhouse Giving

Over in Greenhouse One, two more badgers - Maria Dee and Aaron Jones - were getting their surprise ready for the Slytherin Head of House. After Professor Browne had explained the situation, of course they had volunteered to help.Interacting with @Hjørdis Jensen @Aaron Jones
Mentioning @Caradoc Browne
It had taken Maria ages, but now her masterpiece was on the table and ready to be shown. Using her origami skills and Aaron’s ability to accurately remember faces, she was able to recreate Professor Jensen’s face using paper flowers. She had made several small roses from different shades of paper that resembled the professor’s skin, and used one large white flower to make her hair as if it were in a bun. Throwing in a few more details for eyes and her other features, and voila! The Slytherin Head of House was now immortalized in paper form, about three feet tall. It had taken her ages and several paper cuts to complete this, and it took both her and Aaron to carry it to the Greenhouse, but it was the least she could do for the Professor. She even made a bouquet of paper flowers for the older woman, as an allusion to their first meeting. Maria wasn’t sure if she could conjure flowers as pretty as the ones Nora made, but she decided to make them as pretty as she could.

With both the paper flower portrait and the paper flower bouquet on a table and out of the way, Maria was now working on attaching fake leaves onto makeshift hats for her and Aaron to wear. The idea was to make them look like baby mandrakes. While the young badger wasn’t too fond of the plants, she knew it would make a nice touch along with the part of the surprise Aaron was working on.
On one of the long tables in the greenhouse, Aaron had set up five small pots filled with edible dirt (chocolate, of course!) and buried a surprise in each of them. He’d made sure the surprises were attached to some fake mandrake leaves that poked out of the top of the dirt. All Professor Jensen would have to do is “depot” the “mandrakes” for a fun surprise!
Putting on her own hat, Maria went to hand Aaron his. He accepted the hat with a laugh, and put it on his head. Maria hoped the sight of them in their mandrake hats would make Professor Jensen laugh, too. After all, this was a mission to cheer her up, and that’s what they were aiming to do.
”I’m really glad we were partnered together! I think it all looks great!” Aaron said, grinning at Maria as he flicked a leaf on his hat. He turned away to check his pots, not noticing the deep blush that took over her face.
“Uh, thanks! You look nice too.” Realizing what she’d said, she tried not to embarrass herself even more. "I-I mean, everything looks nice. And thanks for helping me carry the thing out here." She looked over to see Aaron’s attention was now focused on what he was doing. She sighed in relief and her blush faded.
When Professor Jensen finally arrived, their smiling faces and odd hats would be the first thing she would see. Then she would probably notice Maria’s portrait of her and Aaron’s “mandrake pots” on the table behind the portrait. Hopefully she wouldn’t notice the mess they had made (don’t worry Professor MacTavish, the cleaning will come after). Maria would be the first to offer her the flowers, and she would say that they weren’t as pretty as she was or even the flowers the Professor had made for her but she hoped that she’d like them. Hopefully, Nora would accept them.
"I hope you like these, they’re pretty just like you!" The young girl would exclaim as she’d hand them to her.
Next, Aaron would present the woman with a potted plant and explain, "In the Hufflepuff common room, we have lots of plants! So I took this one - with Professor Browne's permission of course - and wanted you to have it! Just make sure to water it and speak to it every day, or it’ll wilt." The young Asian boy was beaming as he handed over the flowerless plant. It was very green and very tiny, but it would surely grow if she followed his instruction.
"Over here, you can depot these 'mandrakes'-" Aaron would put air quotes as he joked and ran over to the pots, "-for a nice surprise! But if you just want to move on, then the one in the center has instructions on where to go next! We’d escort you, but we have to stay here and lockup once you’ve gone." Aaron would smile a bit shyly at the lady now, unsure if she would play along and depot the mandrakes, or only go for the one in the middle.
Of course, all the mandrakes were actually just Yoohoo bottles buried in the chocolate dirt and attached to the fake leaves that she could pull them out with. The center pot did not need to be "depotted" because the friendship bracelet with a heart charm on it (♡) was lying on top of the dirt rather than buried beneath. Attached to the bracelet was a note, telling Professor Jensen that her next destination was the ballroom.
Tryna solve a problem like Maria.

Greenhouse Giving

Her second academic year at Hogwarts was coming to an end by the time the month finished. She was hired shortly after students started in 2018. Over the months, her walls starting to crumble. Hjørdis opened up, shared personal information about herself to others, let them in and started to trust them. Though she might have a reputation for being cold, scary or emotionless... The present version of herself was far more open, kinder and warmer than most of these students realised. They had not been around to see the former version. Of course, it was not all that much different externally. But she knew she was changing. There were things she did now that she would never have done before. Listening to students tell a story, playacting over tables, hugging them... These were not things she would have done prior to Hogwarts... Even today, they were things that were shocking her.
Hjørdis let go off Jake's hand, assuming he was still holding it, after he led her to the greenhouse. Sadly she arrived moments too late to see the adorable interaction between the other two but that was a regret she would never know she had. Quirking her eyebrow as she approached, she noticed two more familiar faces. First years that she knew from various errands or activities. Well... one of them was also the girl that she had accidentally made fall into a fountain. Whoops. The greenhouse gardeners were smiling brightly, with rather odd hats on.
Her gaze moved to the flowers behind the girl. A giant portrait of... her? Was there a portrait made out of flowers of... her? She blinked. There were plenty of things she imagined. This was not one of them. The girl spoke up first, offering another paper product. The last time Hjørdis saw her, she offered her a small paper lotus that currently sat on her bookcase in her office. With a soft smile on her lips as she took the bouquet, "They are far prettier than the ones I conjured," She replied before motioning to the portrait, "And that's far prettier than me. Your handiwork, I presume?" She added. Hjørdis thinking something else was prettier than her? Wow. That must be one heck of a compliment.
Blinking as she looked at the boy, who she recognised from the Mandrake errand. He was the odd one who kept talking to the mandrakes. He... wanted her to... talk... to the plant. Right. Of course he did. Why would he expect anything else? Of course he wanted her to talk to the plant... Right. She tilted her head. This was clearly karma for when she judged him for that. Well. She was definitely not talking to the plant. Of course not. She would water it. But that was the extent of that. Yes. Definitely not. Of course not. What was she supposed to even say? Hello? How are you? Sigh. Why was she still thinking about this? It's not like she was going to talk to the plant! That would be crazy! At least when she spoke to Jeger, he could respond - sort of! But he was beaming. He looked so happy.
Hjørdis sighed, "Very well..." She replied, not entirely sure what she would even say. Eh. She could just... Nope. She had nothing. No talking. But she could water it. The Head of Slytheri- or was she the Silver Knight by now? Or the General? She was losing track. Whatever she was, it did not matter. What mattered was the look on their faces. Both of them were utterly adorable. The boy was literally beaming at her - until he explained the next task. There was a sudden shyness, as though he expected her to not do it.
Swallowing, she nodded, "Let's see what's in them then, shall we?" She played along, deciding to go check out the mandrake pots that he mentioned. Hjørdis pulled out Yoohoo bottles from the mandrakes, which in all honesty, she had no idea what they were. They were not exactly something readily available in any of the countries she had spent a lot of time in. But it looked like some sort of chocolate milk? No. Water. Chocolate drink. Alright, she could do this. "Mhm?" She offered both of them one, as she grabbed the lid of the third bottle and opened it up. There had been quite a bit of walking or acting already. May as well stop and have a drink. Sipping it, she nodded a little in approval. In all honesty, she expected to hate it. She was just going to drink it because they were giving it to her but... it was not as bad as she expected it to be. It was kind of decent.
Grabbing a piece of paper, Hjørdis quickly left a note for MacTavish that would read, "Enjoy." and left the fourth bottle on his desk. He probably needed it if he was going to find a mess in his greenhouse. Though... hopefully it would be cleaned because the mess would definitely bother her.
Putting on the bracelet that was on the fifth pot, she smiled softly. She was starting to see where this message was going. Purple was her favourite colour, she would take it with a heart. Her gaze fell onto the letter. The ballroom. The dance. Nope. Not happening. He better not be expecting her to dance. She would punch him again if he expected her to dance! But... if she went then she could actually punch him right? She actually had to find him to hit him...
Finishing off the drink, she tossed the empty bottle into the bin and moved to the students, "You are both so sweet, thank you... for all of this..." She replied to them both, as she gently squeezed their shoulders. Collecting the growing number of things that she was somehow expected to carry, Hjørdis blinked. There was so much. Borrowing a container from the classroom, she placed the drawings, the plant, the bouquet and so on into it. The bracelets were on her wrist, the tiara somehow was still on her head and the sword was attached to her jeans. Snapped her fingers and just made the box levitate as she left. It was far easier than trying to juggle them all... There was just too much.
