Open to One [1] more! Any House!
(Also PV to @Reid Kovacs in addition)

Day: Nov 15, 2019 (backdated)
Time: around 8:00 am after this
Location: Hufflepuff Table
The third year followed behind the taller Hufflepuff student and kind of ended up at the Hufflepuff table. However Alan did not mind at all, since he planned to catch up with Reid anyway. So when they arrived at the table, that had been decorated with a yellow and black tablecloth, the Gryffindor, just smiled and sat down on an empty spot across from where Reid had sat down before him.

He looked around the table curiously, as a plate appeared in front of him, as the house elves employed in Hogwarts showed notice of their magic tricks. Staring at the selection of food items across from them, Alan opted for a side of scrambled eggs and bacon with a slice of what looked like a grilled cheese sandwich as the main part of the breakfast. "S-So... Reid, since when have you been a prefect?", Alan asked curiously, nodding to the badge that he only noticed now, that they were in the lit castle. Last time Alan had seen Reid had been quite a while ago and so much must have had happened in the duration of time! "Is it nice? B-being a prefect..." Alan had wondered about that for a while now, after a lot of his friends had been prefects in the past, the third year has gotten curious and was wondering whether he should give it a shot or not. He actually might just do that, but he did not actually know what tasks that would include for him then... maybe Reid could answer him more about that?

Reid wiped his hand against his jeans as he walked beside Alan. On his way there, he wasted no time chatting up a storm with him and saying hello to a few people on the way to the Great Hall. He suggested the Hufflepuff table, which seemed quite fine to Alan since he followed him there anyway. The noise was bearable to him now, he was used to the echo of the voices around the huge building.

He shoved his hands in his pockets and made a beeline for their table, bearing in mind to pace himself alongside the lion. He sat down with a gracious sigh of content and straightened himself. He leaned over to grab some food, but stopped when Alan questioned him about his position. Reid glanced down at the badge and gently scratched the surface.

"I started this year mate, I think it's nice to do. Not much changes to be honest with you, but at least people will listen to us now. I barely got anyone to listen to me when I was a prefect in my first year." he laughed, picking up a croissant. Reid broke it in half and set it on his plate as he continued making selections. "I like being out a little later than the others too though, I'm not so scared of the dark any more."

Reid forced another laugh at that part, remembering his genuine fear of shadows. The campout left a mark on him, it lingers, but not as intensely as it did in his first and second year. He was growing out of it, learning skills of coping, it all came with age. "Are you interested in becoming one? I think you'd be a great prefect Alan." He stuffed his face with food after his hunger got the best of him, but he still listened to Alan of course.

Alan stared at the taller boy in surprise. He could not even remember the fact that Reid had been a prefect, when the two of them were in their first year. Maybe he was right and first year prefects were a little more invisible than those from upper years. After all, with being older than someone you had more knowledge and more people would respect you alone for the age. Alan was quite sure that being a prefect could not be always easy and that it could be quite stressful at times. But he thought it was something nice, something he could respect!

"Th-that's so cool!", he exclaimed, nodding at the Hufflepuff. Alan was grinning slightly, showing his teeth just a little bit. He was glad that the other boy liked his work so much and had been a prefect for a while now. Alan was sure that he would not need to be worried or anything at all, with Reid being a prefect. He knew he could trust him and that Reid was one of the nicest students he had met. He was one of the first people in the school he had really spoken to and it helped Alan a lot. Probably the Hufflepuff had done so without knowing, but he had been a great influence for Alan's ability to talk to other people, during his first year.

"Are you interested in becoming one? I think you'd be a great prefect Alan."

Alan nodded slightly, a bit unsure but his face brightened, when the Hufflepuff added words of encouragement. He had been quite unsure about this for a while now, but he really wanted to go the step and try it. It was also nice knowing, that Reid was there and saying those words to him. They sounded genuine, not just like someone you said out of courtesy. "Th-thanks! C-Can you tell me a b-bit more about what being a p-prefect entails?", he wondered, glancing at Reid, before starting to cut off a piece from his grilled cheese sandwich.

After subsequently filling his platter with food, he maintained most of his attention on the Gryffindor. Occasionally, he'd wave to a student he knew or a housemate when he saw one. Reid generally tried to keep in the good graces of his fellow Hufflepuffs, but that was at a distance at best. He didn't know many Hufflepuffs aside from Quinn, Serena, and Rosie. They were some of the original people he's met, though he wished he was able to talk to them more.

"Th-thanks! C-Can you tell me a b-bit more about what being a p-prefect entails?" Fingers rapped the surface of the table in quick succession, like he's done it a thousand times over when he was thinking. It was a small quirk, one that always either erred on nervousness or on deep thought. His mind weaved through the duties he was bound to uphold with the badge, navigating some of his more questionable decisions as a prefect. But not everyone was perfect, he tried to uphold it to the best of his abilities, but he was more like a sheriff than a justicar.

Sometimes things needed to be done differently. "You'll have to make sure that the right thing is done and that's really all up to you, mate. Like, what I'm saying is -" He took a few bites of his turkey leg. "You won't always know what's right or wrong, so you'll have to make decisions based on whatever you might trust best. I go with my gut feeling. But I dunno, it depends on person to person."

Reid swallowed and picked at his teeth a little. That sounded like a rudimentary answer, but what else could he really say to him? The student picked at his brain a little, some inward thinking for an outward answer. "You'll patrol at night and keep an eye out during the day, that sort of stuff. Honestly there is a lot more to it that I wish I could tell you off the top of my head." A mirthful laugh came from Reid, embarrassed that he'd be giving Alan such a haphazard answer. "I still think you should shoot for it though, you're definitely cut out for it."

Alan curiously listened on as Reid started with a more or less detailed explanation of what his duties were. He wondered how that was, to patrol the school at night and possibly catch many students who would break curfew. He assumed that it happened many times that students broke that particular rule, because there was just something exciting about exploring the castle at night. Surely he would get a weird look from Reid though, if he were to say that now. After all someone who planned to be a prefect should not go around, tempted to break the school rules they were planning to protect.

When Reid told him, that he should apply for the position, Alan's smile brightened and he nodded. "Y-Yeah, I will definitely t-try if it o-opens up again!", he told the other student in reassurance. The more they talked about it the more excited he got to actually go through with this idea. Lifting the grilled cheese sandwich from his plate, he took a few bites out of it, since he was feeling rather hungry.

"A-At least it is g-gonna be w-weekend n-now", he nodded. He was tired of this week, homework and class had managed to completely exhaust him. But not only school, generally a lot has happened throughout the week and he was happy to get some rest during the weekend, hoping he would have some break of the weekly stressing about homework. Well obviously he had some homework to do, but at least he would not be too troubled since he could take his time working on it.

Adohiro was certainly a nervous, he was worried about entering here and certainly had trouble creating bonds with other people. He didn't know how he should act to others, but he saw two people and he would sit near them. He felt like it would be very awkward to sit near them. He would listen to their conversation quietly as he pulled out study materials. Currently, he was having great difficulty in transfiguration class, potions he was doing well in, however. Transfiguration would be the death of him and he continued to read. However, he decided maybe he could make some small talk? It would be awkward and maybe even rude if he didn't speak?

"H-Hello...I am Adohiro." He would introduce himself to the two.  "Oh, and my name means peace within chaos!" He would add before he would get weird questions about his name or ask what it meant. It always felt like he was put on the spot when people did that so it was best to introduce himself. "What are your names if I may ask?" He would ask politely. He was nervous, they seemed like they were older members so he needed to be more careful.

When I only have my eyes half-open?
Somebody let me know, tell me which way to go"
