Kara looked away as the girl looked at her with a scowling look. Her eyes widened and she looked back down at her pork roast. She blushed slightly and looked up at the clear ceiling. She wondered why she had such interest in the girl.
She remembered her sister Mia had died a few days ago. The memory of the letter telling her she died from cancer at age 13 still weighed heavy on her heart. She remembered that Mia would always tell her to be brave and to stand up for yourself and others. She had made friends with Lilian too when she listened to her sister's advice.
Kara decided to get up and go over to the girl.
"Hello, I'm Kara. I'm sorry I laughed at you in Potions class. Please forgive me." She said with her soft voice.
After Kara had said that, she remembered her name, it was Ariana. She was a first year just like her. Ariana had medium length brown hair, which for now was matted and covered in "Cure for boils" potion and ash. She had these big, beautiful green eyes that seemed to pierce Kara's heart. As she waited for Ariana's response, she looked back up into the ceiling and started to daydream about her sister.

Ariana was shocked to see the slytherin girl suddenly standing next to her as she looked up from her plate of spaghetti. The girl spoke "Hello, I'm Kara. I'm sorry I laughed at you in Potions class. Please forgive me." She saw the girl glance at her matted hair, and Ariana hastily pointed her wand at it, so that it resumed its usual soft, neat nature. She seemed at a loss for what to say. Scowling, she turned her head away her nose in the air and said. "Well I accept your apology, but what's a slytherin" she emphasised her voice on the house name, "-doing saying sorry?" The girl said nothing and Ariana glanced at her friends faces before saying. “I suggest you go back to your seat before your friends wonder where you've gone”Ariana smirked. The girl looked shocked and a bit upset, but glowered at Ariana, before stalking off irritably. Ariana watched as the girl rounded the table and sat down beside her friends. What was her name again? Klara? Ka- wait no Kara! That was it! She turned back around to meet her friends smiling faces. “Well no slytherin will mess with you anytime soon Ari!” Her best friend said laughing, “You showed her who was boss” added her other gryffindor friends. Ariana smiled, but felt slightly confused. Was the girl really trying to be nice? That couldn't have been possible, she’s a slytherin, or could it? Shaking these thoughts out of her head, she gathered up her things, and with her friends, made her way out of the great hall to the gryffindor common room.
