Hey Buddy!
Time: Day after this thread, lunch break.
@Alan Vanes
Howard knew he would turn to Alan for help right away when he was given his task. Not just because he was a Metamorphmagus, but he also knew he could trust him with topics...that were a bit sensitive. The Gryffindor had been a positive addition to Howard’s life. There was just something about his presence that put him at ease and made him so easy to talk to. Not to mention that he was one of the few that accepted Howard for who and what he was, no questions asked. So, as he entered the Great Hall for lunch his red eyes would seek him out.
It wouldn’t take long to find him at the Gryffindor table and as Howard made his way over it occurred to him that this was the first time he had ever eaten at another house’s table. The sad fact was that he had never had a reason to, but today that would change. “Oi!” Howard called out to the nameless person sitting next to Alan. “Scooch over! Go on then!” He said as he forced himself in between them. “Hey buddy!” Howard ignored the complaints of the one who just lost their seat and turned his attention to Alan, offering a playful slug on the shoulder. “You alright?” He asked as he grabbed a plate and started to fill it with various goodies. “Mind if I join ya?” Howard joked with a wink before leaning in a bit closer. “Listen, I was hopin’ I could ask you somethin’? Um, about Metamorphs. Ya mind?”

Hey Buddy!
Alan was just about to stuff some mashed potatoes into his mouth when he would hear a familiar voice break the murmurs of some random Gryffindor students. The voice felt slightly out of place, Alan had never seen him approach this table before so he would curiously glance sideways towards Howard, his for would still hover in the air. "No, sure, sit down!" he agreed, watching as another Gryffindor Alan didn't know, probably one of the younger years, slid to the side to make space for the Hufflepuff, who might appear scary to someone that young.
Upon hearing the question, Alan swallowed lightly and gave a small glance around the table before telling himself he had no need to worry. He forced himself not to worry and shook of his nervousness. There was no reason to hide it anymore. He had nothing to hide, he was normal in a way and special at the same time like any other witch or wizard. "Sure, what's up? I don't know too much myself but I will gladly help," he agreed, more at ease now as he motioned toward the food. "Feel free to grab a bite, I don't think my house mates would mind," he let the badger now with a nod.

"Don't mind if I do." Howard accepted Alan's offer to eat with him. Not that he would have cared if the others at the table protested against him taking food from their table, but it was nice of his friend to extend the invitation. So, he would hesitate as he grab a plate and some cutlery and began to fill it with various meats, potatoes and roasted veggies. The school might not be the safest place in the magical world, but at least they always ate good. Howard would notice that his question would cause Alan a quick look around. However, he was please when his buddy was able to shrug that off. Perhaps it was that courage that Gryffindors were known for or maybe it was just the nature of their friendship that lent him the strength to be himself. Alan had a way of making Howard feel completely at ease and he hoped that he might inspire something similar in him. Not that the Dhampir was know for comforting people, but he was never one to conform to the wants and needs of others. He could only hope he lent some of that to Alan.
A few bites of food would calm the grumble in Howard's belly and he turned to the task at hand. Not long after his demonstration in the very hall in which they sat some sympathetic minds had approached him about the mystery surrounding T. Ruth. "Listen, there was this girl that claimed to have written that article about Dhanpirs, but ever since that day ain't no one seen her. Some acquaintances of mine have been trying to track her down, but no luck. So, we was thinking that someone used magic to disguise themselves and that got me thinking. I know that you can change up some of your features and what not with your gift, but do you think that a Metamorphmagus could take on the look of another? Like make themselves look just like another person?"

Hey Buddy!
The fourth year hummed softly as he listened to the conversation, glancing at the boy, before nodding slowly. "It is indeed possible to look fully like another person, but generally you need to be a bit more practiced for that, when I was younger I couldn't change more than a few bits at a time, now I could if I wanted to," he offered as an answer and it felt easy to trust Howard, after they had bonded over their difficulties to fit into the world of normal people. "I have never really used it to copy someone else, it makes me uncomfortable, unless I have permission of course but I don't know, it feels weird you know, looking in the mirror and not recognizing yourself," he explained and probably hit the nail on the head once again, Howard after all had not lived his whole life as the being he now was. A sigh left his lips as he poked his food, before shoving a fork of mashed potatoes into his mouth. He would wait for Howard to move on with the conversation as he swallowed the food.
"You think someone is purposefully stirring the pot or do you think it is T.Ruth but she is hiding behind a cover?," he wondered out loud, as he let both of those thoughts run through his mind without ever actually coming to a solution.
