Slyther Mission
The Great Hall was probably Kazuo’s least favorite place in the school. The sheer number of children gathered together in one place at mealtimes always made him extremely skittish. So it was a place he did his best to avoid as much as possible. Unfortunately, dinner was usually the best time to track down people when he needed to talk to them and so it was that he swallowed his discomfort and made his way down to the Great Hall at the dinner hour. He passed the Hufflepuff table without even sparing a glance for its members. He had few friends in his House and as of late, some seemed to have turned into enemies - as much as an eleven-year-old could have enemies. The day after this thread
No, it was the Slytherin table he sought tonight, two girls in specific that he wished to speak with. They weren’t hard to spot. Aaron was as brightly attired as any Hufflepuff, standing out among her drab peers and Kazuo bee-lined for them, sliding onto the bench beside Eirian.”What’s up, Akamata.” He greeted them with a grin. “If you aren’t too busy, I have a favour to ask. There is a mystery afoot and I need your help solving it. I wouldn’t ask but… this requires something that is beyond my capabilities. You see… I need girls.” He grinned at them, knowing that his explanation sounded vague and probably confusing but hoping that it would lure the two girls in.

Aaron loved mealtimes at Hogwarts. Hundreds of students congregated in one large dining room was reminiscent of the summer camps her mother used to send her and her brothers to when she wanted some peace and quiet for a week. The clinks of a hundred forks on china and the steady thrum of voices all around her evoked a strong feeling of companionship. It also helped that the food at Hogwarts was amazing. Each meal had a wide assortment of options, each cooked to perfection and seemingly neverending.
It was amidst this wide array of food, her plate piled high with mashed potatoes and turkey and peas and all manner of other side dishes, that Kazuo found Aaron. Her right hand was busily stuffing her face with turkey while her left poured a generous amount of gravy on her potatoes. She looked up, eyes bright with the joy of eating good food, when Kazuo called out to her. Hurriedly swallowing her mouthful, she swiped her tongue over her teeth before flashing him a return grin.
"Heeeeeeey, 'ello 'ello. A favour you say? Who would I be to not oblige a friend," she said. Then, after a pause, she added. "Who am I kidding, you had me at mystery."
She leaned back, elbow on the table, and gestured grandly with her fork. "So, what mission do you have for the great Aaron"

Slyther Mission
The great hall was usually pretty loud during meals; the sounds of hundreds of students eating and talking all at once came together into a mess of noise.
Nonetheless, Eirian was enjoying her meal so far, spending more time chatting with Aaron next to her than actually eating.
As Kazuo approached them, she turned and smiled welcomingly at him.
When the Hufflepuff boy sat next to her and greeted them, she also noted Aaron hurriedly swallowing her huge mouth full of food.
"Hey, Kazuo. Nothing much, but what's an 'akamata'?"
She guessed it wouldn't be offensive but had no real guesses what it meant, either.
As he continued, she was immediately intrigued by the idea of a mystery—especially a mystery which specifically required girls to solve.
She nodded enthusiastically as Aaron responded to his request, already completely invested in the mystery and potential adventure.
"I'm already in. It sounds like fun... And probably trouble."
When Aaron continued, asking about the 'mission', she also raised an eyebrow at Kaz, indicating commiseration with her friend's question.
"What kind of mission that specifically requires girls- Is it something Slytherin related, too? That why you're asking us in particular?"
She watched Kazuo with great interest, waiting for him to elaborate.

Kazuo stared at the mountain of mashed potatoes on Aaron's plate, somewhat impressed by the amount of food she was attempting to devour, but also disgusted by the amount of gravy she was drowning those potatoes in. The heavy British meals often did not sit well with him, one of the reasons why he chose to eat elsewhere. He snorted at her pronouncement of 'the great Aaron'.
Eirian, on the other hand, had barely touched her food, too busy chatting to care about fuel. The difference between the two Slytherin girls and their other Housemates seemed like a vast gap to Kazuo, more used to the sullen, emotionally constipated trauma babies he'd met. Well, he supposed these two hadn't run afoul of any of Hogwarts weird shit yet.
"Akamata!" He announced with a grin. "A snake yokai from Okinawa. She would appear to the locals as a beautiful woman. She did not like the island men and hoped to one day rid her island of them."
He snatched a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie, one of the few desserts he'd found he didn't mind, and took a bite. "Yes! Girls who are Snakes. Have you two heard about Howard? How he stormed the Great Hall? Because of the Headliner article?"
He dropped the article on the table in front of them.
"So the short story is that I'm looking for T. Ruth. There was a girl at the riot who… might be the writer of the article. She was certainly vocal about supporting the article's shitty take. Hideyoshi thinks she's T. Ruth. I'm not so sure but he wants to find her. Thing is, he hasn't seen her since. She was wearing Slytherin robes so I was hoping you could track her down in the dorm. She's a mousy girl with long brown hair, maybe first or second year. She doesn't look too much older than that. So, Detectives, think you can find our mystery girl?"
With the mission laid out for them, Kazuo leaned back and waited for their responses.

Aaron was flattered to be compared to a powerful snake demon. She'd never heard of Akamata, but anyone who ruled over an entire island, myth or not, sounded badass.
She tilted her head, chewing on her fork, when Kazuo mentioned Howard. Aaron knew a lot of people, but she wasn't very good with names, so she couldn't easily place a face to the name. She did remember someone bursting into the Great Hall. She hadn't been there personally, but it'd been all the rage in the common room the evening after. Being the gossip fuel chaos monster she was, she'd heard about it from several sources.
She quickly scanned the article Kazuo tossed onto the table. This too she had heard stories about. Although she almost never read the papers, she frequently talked to those who did, and therefore learned everything she needed to know without reading a word herself. Dhampirs. It reminded her of the stories she'd heard of the Sirius Black scare during Harry Potter's time.
"I remember this. Some girl got sucked dry like a juice box, and the whole school went bananas. Everyone was accusing each other of being a dhampir. And this T. Ruth was instigating it the most. This article led to tons of people getting blinded by Lumos or accidently set on fire by Incendio. I won't say I didn't find the whole situation hilarious, but even I got a face full of burning wand time once of twice" she said, pointing at the article with her fork before swinging it around for a scoop of potatoes. "So you need us to help find this Ruth girl? If she's a Slytherin and a female, you've come to the right place. No rock will go unturned, nor door unopened, on the Great Aaron's honour" She stuffed her forkful of potato into her mouth and winked at Kazuo, holding one hand over her heart and the other up in the air as a vow.
