To Clean up a Mess
Alan was now waiting after dinner was officially over and the student body had left the area. He would now only have to wait for Katie and if she were to arrive, he would greet her with a nod. He had to force himself not to feel bad for her, after all she brought that upon herself and she had even given her a chance to get away without detention and he would have pretended as if nothing had happened. But sadly she had to pull this off and now he could not help but feel as if he had to give her detention, because else she would keep on breaking rules. Alan had specifically told the kitchen house elves that there was no need for them to clean up the tables of the great hall after today's dinner because he had something in mind, so with Katie here he would give her a grim smile.Dear Miss @Katie Palsorette,
due to the fact that you were caught while breaking curfew and furthermore broke two more rules, disrespecting a prefect and using magic aside from studying it, I am forced to give you detention. Please meet me on December 1st, 2020 in the Great Hall after dinner.
"Okay, I'm sure you can see the bucket with water over there," he told her before pointing over at the far left table, the Gryffindor one, before glancing back at her. "As you know this is supposed to be your detention, so please hand me your wand, you will get it back after the detention is served," he mentioned, stretching out his hand with the palm up [This is not optional!]. After she had done so, Alan would continue to speak after pocketing it for safe keeping. "I want you to clean those tables, after all even the house elves need a break sometimes! So you better hurry if you want to be done with it!" he would let her know. He was not particularly enjoying to punish someone but he knew it had to be done. Leftovers of food smeared some areas of the table where student had previously spilled their foods and drinks and it would probably take some time to get it all cleaned up, especially without the use of magic. He would cringe at the task, he wouldn't have wanted to do this in her stead, so was breaking rules really worth getting detention over them?

To Clean up a Mess
Katie grumbled under her breath as she entered into the Great Hall. This was so unfair! She had really thought her plan would work, but nope. Mr. Fancy Prefect had to stun her before turning his attention to her burning notebook distraction! That was so unfair! Basically, note she'd just ruined an innocent student's notebook for no good reason. If she'd actually gotten away, then it'd be worth it, but no. She'd burned it for nothing good to come of it. Now she'd have to clean up like a bloody house elf. NO, not just like a house elf, but for the house elves!
House elves need breaks too? Please! Who did this prefect think she was? Because Katie sure add hell wasn't a fool, and Katie had grown up in the wizarding world, so Katie knew that house elves probably didn't need breaks. Did they? Right? That's what her parents had told her anyway. And while her parents were a point of sore contention for her, they wouldn't lie about fhis, right?
"Do house elves really need breaks?" Katie asked politely , attempting to avoid earning any more of the prefect 's ire. "I mean, my parents always taught me that house elves liked to work and didn't need any breaks, but they could be wrong about that--- they have been wrong a out a lot of things..." Katie started to trail off for a moment . She probably seemed like she was stalling even though that wasn't the case, so she simply decided to get back to work.

Alan hummed at the question and slightly nodded. "Everyone needs rest and a break sometimes even from things you actually like to do!" he would try to explain to her, trying to find some kind of example to go with it. "Even if you like to go flying and think it is fun, you wouldn't want to do that without taking a break right? Eventually you would get tired, or hungry or simply get bored of the repetitiveness of a task," he would try to explain and it made a lot of sense in his eyes. "Or if you like a specific dish, you wouldn't want to eat it for your whole life because at one point it would no longer be special and become bland, right?" He hoped that those gave her some kind of idea that no matter how much someone likes a task that doing it without a break would be exhausting as well. He also hoped that she would start working soon because else they would be here for far longer than actually necessary. Alan waited for her to finally start with the task as he leaned against the door frame of the great hall, lightly crossing his arms in front of his chest as he kept an eye on the girl.
