A lovely introduction
Alaska found herself drowsily wandering into the Great Hall. The hall wasn't as extravagant as the night before, perhaps because it was day time and it was brighter than before, still Alaska missed the floating candles. For a moment she stopped her walking to look around. Other's were filing in at their own pace- all looking just as tired. It was rare that she noticed a student with bright eyes and laughing, even so, those ones seemed to be Ravenclaws. Excited to learn probably, not that she wasn't! She just definitely missed sleeping in. Briefly she wondered if all the people followed their stereotypes in the houses they were placed into. No. No there was definitely a group of huddled sleepy Ravenclaws.
With a small grin, Alaska continued her walk toward the Gryffindor table. It was just as long as the others, and unlike last night, was less filled. People were still filing in. Nerves started poking at her, making her palms slightly clammy as she realized she knew nobody here. She was born from two non magical folk- what had they called them? Muggles? She couldn't help but bite her lip and furrow her brow ever so slightly. Would she be able to fit in? Surely she wasn't the only muggle-born witch to ever be born. There was so much she needed to read up on... She was sure she overheard that one of the brightest witches of their time had been Muggle-born? Perhaps she'd ask somebody about that soon enough. She shook her head slightly to pull herself out of the never-ending thoughts and looked around.
It was then that she noticed some wild unruly red hair. She knew this hair from last night- the girl sitting beside her during the feast had this sort of look. They'd both been placed in Gryffindor together, one after the other. Maybe she could get away with sitting beside her again? Taking in a deep breath she stepped forward toward the table and sat down.
"Hello!" She said as positively as she could."I remember seeing you from last night. Hopefully it's okay if I sit here too?" She wondered if it was obvious how nervous she became. It was when she needed to introduce herself to new people that she became clammy and unsure of herself- and especially in this new world that she didn't know much of and felt almost completely alone.

A lovely introduction
Lost in the Triward's Maze...stumbling through the darkness oh, oh. Scarlett hummed a Celestina Warbeck single that perfectly described her situation right now. Who in their right mind would design a school like a, well, maze, for Merlin's sake?
Scarlett had woken up later than she aimed for, which resulted in her scrambling to get her socks on and (after a few firm words from one of her dorm-mates) her hair brushed. Only slightly. It was still its signature mess. Scarlett had thrown on her robes and decided against sorting out the rumples and tie.
Now, she was aimlessly wandering around the halls of Hogwarts, hoping that out of blind luck, she was somehow materialise in the Great Hall. Last night was amazing; the food and the exhilaration of being sorted into the same house as the Boy who Lived. Who knew what she would get up to? A stupid, pointless grin broke out on her face at the thought of it. For now though, Scarlett needed to, first, make friends, second, find her way to the Great Hall and eat and third...there was really no dire third at the moment.
Scarlett was just re-arranging her goals for the day when-
BANG!
How delightful; walking into a truly wonderful suit of armour. At least it hadn't caused too much of a commotion. But wait...
Scarlett almost jumped for joy. Finally! The Great Hall was right there, full of chattering students and food. Eagerly, Scarlett walked in and greeted her house-mates, simultaneously scooping up some toast. As she was eating and chatting, another girl walked into the Great Hall. Scarlett recognised her (she gave herself an internal pat on the back for this) as Alaska Hawke, a mischievous, playful-looking girl with light brown eyes and similar curly, light brown hair.
Alaska looked a bit like she was bracing herself before sitting down and smiling.
"Hello!" said the positive-sounding girl. "I remember seeing you from last night. Hopefully it's okay if I sit here too?"
"Of course!" Scarlett smiled. Alaska looked like she was nervous and Scarlett sometimes knew that feeling - though she didn't always show it. "I'm Scarlett Aden."

A lovely introduction
A smile spread across Alaska's face as she sat down. The other girl introducing herself.
Scarlett Aden. A name that Alaska felt just fit this girl. She nodded, "Nice to meet you Scarlett! I'm Alaska Hawke!" She grinned, some of the nerves she'd felt before melting away. This girl seemed nice enough, maybe a new friend in the making? Her eyes drifted toward the front of the Great Hall noticing the professors sitting down and she quietly wondered which ones she would be seeing this year for classes.
"So..." She began timidly, grabbing at a piece of toast and tearing a corner piece off to nibble on. "Do you know anything about Hogwarts?" There was probably a better way to ask that question- but Alaska was still so confused and curious about everything in this magical world. She wondered in the awe and excitement she felt now would ever dull down. If she would just get used to it because this was now her world.
She pulled another piece of toast off and popped it into her mouth, eyeing the other tables which were now becoming more full by the minute of sleepy eyed students. The older students all seemed to have a group of friends they were speaking too- even some were in different houses sitting next to each other and talking, while all the first years such as herself seemed a little more awkward. "Do you know many people here?" She quickly added to her last question and turned her attention back to Scarlett, grabbing a drink of juice as she did so.

A lovely introduction
The girl plopped down next to her and smiled. They were all certainly cheery today; perhaps it was the prospect of learning actual magic. Something that Scarlett could barely control when she was younger, and still it was unpredictable. Now, however, she would be learning real spells to...you know, use.
"Nice to meet you Scarlett! I'm Alaska Hawke!" said Alaska.
Scarlett nodded through a mouthful of pancake. Alaska grinned and the two ate for a while, savouring their meals in just a few seconds of thoughtful silence. Alaska's eyes drifted to the professors for a moment and Scarlett took this time to look at her new Charms teacher. She didn't know his name yet but he looked alright. Quite sturdy and young, even sprightly compared to some others! Scarlett was extremely excited for Charms, as it interested her the most - even though years of Evelyn Aden pressing textbook after textbook on her had been quite daunting.
"So.." said Alaska, slightly timidly. "Do you know anything about Hogwarts?"
She carried on a bit.
"Do you know many people here?" Alaska added that last part to her previous question before eating and drinking some more. After all, breakfast was the most important meal of the day.
"I know a bit, but not a lot..." mused Scarlett. "I don't really have anyone to tell stuff to me, you know? Well, except for Stelle, Cooper and a few others. And I do know quite a few people here already, which is great! There's Taylor Rogers-Freeman and Lucia Fox, and of course, I know a few people in the higher years. I also know about a few other people...but I've never really talked to them, you know?"
Scarlett liked this girl. There was a sort of feel that she was quite similar to her.
"How about you?" asked Scarlett. "What's your - er - Hogwarts story?"
