The Gryffindor Table 2017-2018
Asteria listened as Wini nodded and started to respond,“Well, this is my first time in contact with other wizards and witches. So it’s been a bit interesting,” Wini replied. Asteria nodded understandingly as Wini went on. “But i’m most excited to do some magic,“I want to duel, and fight in battles, and watch other great wizards and witches fight in battles!” The girl said excitedly, arms raised in the air.
Asteria giggled. She may have grown up around both magic, but she couldn't help but understand how the girl felt. “Sorry,” Wini said, a blush growing on her face. "Don't be sorry," Asteria said still giggling a bit. "I grew up around magic, but I'm excited to do some myself too!" She continued.
"The only time I've done any, it was unintentional." Before turning eleven the time Asteria experienced doing magic herself, was when she had gotten upset after a kid bullied her in school, and she unintentionally caused the lights in the lounge to flicker and shatter down on her, once she got home. Asteria blushed, embarrassed at the memory surfacing now of all times.
"On the other hand, I'm not sure about dueling. I think there is a duel club, but I'm not sure if first years can join or not yet." Asteria was curious about dueling herself, she had asked her mum but her mum didn't seem to remember if first year were allowed to duel. "I think we'd have to ask our head of house, or another professor perhaps. She went on to say.

Wini beamed at the girl's response, glad that someone else also shared her same excitement. Maybe coming here would be easier than she thought.
The small brunette nodded at Asteria. "Same. Although, I didn't know what it was, so it was a bit scarier than usual," Wini explained, thinking back to her first time. She was around six when it happened. Her and her mother were driving in the car, doing their best to get home with traffic and rain. Her mother would always get frustrated on the road, but Wini found it slightly funny. The rain had been pouring down particularly hard during that storm, but since it was rush hour everyone simply wanted to be home. She remembered the car that ran the red light, the sound of the tires desperately trying to screech to a stop, and the surprised scream of her mother. Wini simply wanted the car to go faster, to move out of the way. So that's exactly what she caused it to do. Their own car lurched forward, and even though they still were hit by the oncoming car, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. After that, it was little things in which she was able to use magic.
Wini's attention was drawn back to Asteria as she began talking about the dueling club. "Dueling club..?" Wini questioned, "How exactly does that work?" She asked, her head tilting to the side a bit in curiosity.

"Same. Although, I didn't know what it was, so it was a bit scarier than usual," Asteria couldn't help but feel relieved. Another person who went through the same thing. Although Asteria knew what it was while Wini had not. "Dueling club..?" Wini continued on. "How exactly does that work?" "Well," Asteria began. "Dueling club is a club here at Hogwarts. It's meant to teach students how to duel if they find themselves in a dangerous situation." Asteria explained. "Kind of like self-defense classes in the muggle world, only here you learn how to use proper spells and charms to defend and protect yourself if you ever find yourself in a wizards duel."
She finished. To be honest, while she loved the idea of learning how to duel. She hoped they'd never actually need to use these skills. Not yet at least. Not until the far future, when they've all finished school and know fully what they are doing.
Once, the Wizarding world went through a great and terrible time, her grandad once old her. Sometimes, when she was younger and her grandad would come over. He would tell her stories that were passed down from his family. Many different ones, some happy, some sad and some dark enough to send a chill through you.Once, he told her of a time where dark and unspeakable things had happened. She hoped they would never experience such a time. She couldn't even begin to imagine what the students back then had gone though. All the pain and sadness. Asteria pulled herself out of it, now was not the time to think about such things. That was then and this is now, that being said she should focus on the present.

Wini listened as Asteria explained the dueling club. As the red head talked, Wini only became more and more interested, a small smile forming on her face.
“So we learn how to properly fight,” Wini stated, a smirk plastered on her face as she thought of one day becoming a powerful witch that fought in the toughest of battles.
Adventure was what Wini most craved, and if the dueling club offered it, then she very much wanted to join. Her blue eyes seemed to light up at the thought of spells bursting from her lips while power spilled from her wand. This only caused the young girl’s excitement to grow even more.
“Would you join the dueling club?” Wini asked, wondering where Asteria stood on this. She sounded excited, but the young girl could be thinking absolutely anything as she was explaining it to Wini.
Wini supposed that if there was need for fighting, there was something to fight. She wandered what kind of things needed to be fought, what they would need to be protected from. What kind of magical creatures were just beyond the walls of Hogwarts? How dangerous were they, that a witch like her would need to conjure up a powerful spell simply to defend?

“So we learn how to properly fight,” Wini replied back. Asteria noticed the smirk on Wini's face, she could tell Wini liked what she heard. Asteria wondered what Wini was thinking about, "Yes, but only if anything occurs in which we must." Asteria stressed. "Keep in mind we're only in our first year. Even in our second year we wouldn't learn any BIG spells. We'd just be doing the 'kiddie stuff' as muggles say." Asteria added in. "We won't be getting into the good stuff until at least our third or maybe even fourth year." She finished.
“Would you join the dueling club?” Wini asked. Asteria thought for a minute, her father and mother would definitely want her to learn how to defend herself. No doubt about that, her father was an Auror and her mother a healer. With the things they see and have to do to help others, how could they not? "Well, my mum and dad would want to me...but well," Asteria gave it some more thought. Asteria did not like the idea of harming others, but well it's different. It's self-defense, and if some creep wanted to try something, she would like to be ready. Asteria nodded, "of course I would." she stated boldly and confidently, a determined look on her face. "Just remember this club is for "just in case' instances. Thankfully there is no 'great and powerful' witch or wizard or 'evil do'er' we need to fight, anytime soon." she said. "We are much to young for that kind of stuff anyway."

Wini nodded in understanding at Asteria's words. As an eleven-year old, she didn't expect to become a powerful witch all at once. But the thought of starting down that journey and being able to do something amazing sent shivers of excitement down her spine.
The small brunette clapped her hands at Asteria's statement of joining the dueling. She opened her mouth to say something before Asteria cut her off to warn her once again. She frowned slightly at the thought of having to grow up before she could learn anything super cool. But Wini reminded herself that if she learned anything that had anything to do with magic, she would be happy and excited.
Seeing that the topic was over, Wini asked, "So what is there to do around here that is interesting?" She asked, sighing lightly as she slouched in her seat at the Gryffindor table. All of the food in her was making her sleepy and at that exact moment, sleep didn't sound all too terrible.
Wini wondered where she would be sleeping and who she would be sharing a dorm with. The thought of sharing a room with girls that could possibly be good friends made her smile lightly. Growing up as an only child had its perks, but Wini had always wondered what it was like to have siblings. At the moment, her dorm mates were the closest thing she would get to that.

"So what is there to do around here that is interesting?" Wini asked, moving on to a new subject. Asteria thought for a moment. She was only in her first year,so she didn't know much. "Well," Asteria said "there is always something to do or somewhere to go here at Hogwarts." She responded thoughtfully. "The castle is big and it's extremely easy to get lost here. and there are dangers within and around the castle to. Which is why certain areas are off limits." Asteria remembered the constant worry filled warns from her dad. "But,there is Qudditch! It's a type of Wizarding sport." She said excitedly.
Asteria wasn't a huge fan of quidditch, she was sure that title goes to her father and his friends. That being said, she didn't hate it either. It was fun to watch and cheer on the teams playing "It's played on broomsticks, you see. Here in the wizarding world, we have these brooms that are enchanted with all sorts of spells, so they can be flown on." She began to explain. "Obviously, the rule of the game is to get more points than your opponents team. There are seven players on each team and six goals and each goal is worth ten points, three goals on each said of the field."
Asteria continued. As she began to go yawn. All this food was taking it's toll. Maybe rest will do her some good. "You know...maybe we can discus it some more in the morning. The feast will be over soon and I'm a bit tired." She said sleepily.

Wini’s brows pulled together at the mention of dangers. She hadn’t considered the fact that anything could be dangerous at Hogwarts. But she supposed that if it had anything to do with magic and magical creatures, nothing was always going to be completely safe.
At the mention of Quidditch, Wini sat a little straighter in her seat, staring in wonder at Asteria as she explained it. It sounded fun, and the thought of actually flying made butterflies appear in Wini’s stomach. Maybe she would be able to join. Or she could simply watch with Asteria and decide for the second year. That actually sounded like a better idea.
Then Asteria yawned, which caused Wini to yawn. The small brunette nodded, agreeing to Asteria’s words of wisdom at the suggestion of finishing the topic later. “Where are the dormitories exactly? I don’t think they’ve told me where to go exactly. Do you know where to go?” Wini asked curiously, spinning on the bench so her feet were facing away from the table. Sleep sounded quite wonderful at the moment. It would also mean that tomorrow would come sooner and she would finally be able to explore Hogwarts.
Wini silently wondered who her roommates would be. Maybe, if she got lucky, Asteria would be one of hers. But looking at the size of the table along with the many first years, that chance also seemed slim.

The Gryffindor Table 2017-2018
Today has got to be one of the longest days Asteria has ever had. The journey here alone was extremely long. 'Thanks for tipping my off on that bit mum and dad' Asteria thought, the sarcasm practically oozed off the thought. The good news was, she didn't didn't loose a single thing as she feared she would, which now seems like it was ages ago. Not a single book, wand, or most especially her mind. She even made a new friend! All in all, Asteria deems today a very successful one. 'Now to get through the rest of the school year.' Asteria thought. Hopefully she would get good grade here, this school is no ordinary school after all. Also, making even more friends along the way wouldn't hurt either.
Asteria heard, Wini yawn as well. 'I guess yawn are contiguous after all' She said to herself. "Where are the dormitories exactly? I don’t think they’ve told me where to go exactly. Do you know where to go?” She heard Wini say. "Actually the school prefects will led us to our dormitories when the feast is over," Asteria said. "My mum said Gryffindor dorms are on the seventh floor, but we can't enter until we are led there and the perfects give us the password."

Wini nodded at Asteria's explanation, still thinking about the comforts of her bed. She hoped her bed would be comfortable. What a horror if she got stuck with an absolutely terrible bed. Then she wondered if there would be any magic that could fix that kind of issue.
"Do you know who our prefect is?" Wini asked, looking around the room to see if she could spot anyone who looked like a prefect. Of course, she didn't know what one looked like so she quickly quit her search. She simply hoped that whoever this prefect was would hurry up and lead everyone to the dormitories. The small brunette was ready to pass out and dream of the coming year and its endless possibility of adventure.
Her thoughts quickly turned to her mother. She quietly wondered what she was doing. Wini suddenly felt grieved, and somewhat ashamed at the thought that this would be the first time her mother was home alone. Wini quickly promised herself that she would send a owl home with a letter of reassurance that she was safe at Hogwarts and very much enjoying herself. Maybe she would even write of Asteria, the red head that was being quite nice to her. She could maybe even call her a friend in the letter. It would also include the sorting ceremony and the wonderfully delicious food. Finally, the letter would end with lots of hugs and kisses.
