After classes have ended
The air was cool and crisp when Dee stepped out of the castle and into the courtyard, glad for the scarf she had wrapped around her neck before coming down here. She took a deep breath, letting fresh air fill her lungs after a long day of studying. It smelled like fallen leaves and fall flowers - autumn had come, clearly. A normal, early October Tuesday at Hogwarts.

Classes were over for the day and there was some time left before dinner, there was no duelling practice set for today, and while Dee had meant to stop by the library for some studying, something had made her change her mind. She'd spent too much time in her books lately, not enough roaming the castle grounds, too much sitting and not enough moving. If she kept it up, she might just lose what little sense she had left.

Lost in thought, she didn't pay too much attention, letting her feet carry her out into the courtyard. The strange pattering noise approaching her from behind took a moment to register, and when she finally blinked and turned to look, it was almost too late. Instinct had her jumping out of the way of the... was that a running pumpkin? Stunned, Dee spent a moment simply staring as the pumpkin waddled past on its vine legs at an impressive speed, its vine arms flapping. Was it giggling?

"What is happening," Dee muttered to herself, the sentence missing the upwards lilt at the end to actually make it a question. It was more a statement. An observation. Was she truly surprised at this? Not really. Either way, time to do something. She heavily doubted the pumpkin was supposed to run wild around the castle. Or the grounds. "You, you, and you!" she called, randomly pointing at three girls in sight while she started forward, jogging after the vegetable. "Would you please help me catch that pumpkin? Maybe we can try surrounding it?"

Just another Tuesday at Hogwarts, clearly.

Thread for the Catch Me if You Can errand! (Please read the instructions if you haven't yet.)

Feel free to say you are one of the three Dee pointed at if you need a reason to help, or you can otherwise hop in to help my girl out <3 You're welcome to say that you recognise Dee from being a prefect/duelling captain/Headliner reporter if you want to.

Finally, school was out for the day, meaning Akari was now free to do as she pleased. With Kenji scampering along after her, she made her way outside into the courtyard to where she was then met with the crisp and cool yet ever so delightful breeze of the magnificent season, Autumn. Autumn was the season that you could feel the small taunts and beckons of winter but not have to pay full head to it quite yet. It was the season that bridged the wonderful warmth of summer days to the calm chilled ones of the winter ones. And Akari adored it. Perhaps not to the same calibre as winter, but nevertheless she definitely enjoyed its presence.

Out of the corner of her eye, she then noticed Kenji pawing at and playing with a small pile of leaves that he had stumbled upon, so Akari made her way over to him and crouched down, her body's weight resting and relying fully on the tips of her toes. She then placed her hand atop the pile to make sure there wasn’t anything under it, (like perhaps someone else’s pet) to which Kenji assumed she was playing along and proceeded to swat her. She frowned at him and was about to issue a sentence of disapproval when she was distracted by someone.

Her head then snapped up and she turned to look in the direction of who had called out and recognized the girl from the headliner. Akari's gaze then trailed down towards what she was on about and her eyes then threatened to pop out as she looked at what appeared to be a living, giggling, running pumpkin.
"What in the name of Merlin" She muttered under her breath, a small chuckle following soon after.
Yes, she might be at a school full of magic, but she certainly wasn’t expecting that. It was just so random.

Akari then put her hand down to help quickly push herself back up to standing and then briefly glanced back at Kenji who was still happily occupied with the crinkly dried up leaves. Knowing that he wasn’t planning on going anywhere anytime soon, she sped off to help.

"Yes good idea, I'll cover this side" Akari piped up as she began veering off towards the left, that way if the pumpkin decided to change its course she'd be ready for it from that direction. While continuing to jog she reached into her pocket to grab her wand, but it was nowhere to be found. Brilliant, she must have left it in her room. Bare hands it was then...

Another school day was coming to a close, meaning Rora was coming off of an adrenaline high. As the youngest child in a family of four, she had been dreaming about Hogwarts from the time her twin brothers first arrived. There was something comforting about starting school in the fall with the leaves changing and warm-toned decorations - it felt like a completely fresh start and different world to her.

She trailed down the hallways, letting her fingers drag along the cool wall while clutching her books in the other hand. It wasn't uncommon for Rora to zone out, lost in thought or daydream and snap back into reality on the completely opposite side of where she had intended to be. Tonight she was planning on spending the evening in the library to get a head start on homework with some of her new Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw friends. Maybe she could even sneak in a game of Wizard's Chess if she finished all of her work early.

Delighted by this thought, Rora added a little extra pep in her step, rounded the corner quickly and ran straight into one of her house prefects, Dee, who was trying to recruit a few other girls to help her with something. "Ouch, sorry Dee. Didn't see you there." Rora didn't know much about Dee yet but she already admired her since she was a prefect and in Ravenclaw. She most certainly wanted to learn as much as she could from Dee.

"Er, I can help you. What is go-" Rora trailed off as she realized there was a pumpkin sprinting right at them. She blinked a couple of times to ensure she wasn't still daydreaming. Nope, that's definitely an enchanted pumpkin. Good thing Rora herself was quite an adventurous soul and a good sport - she really wasn't surprised by this. They were actually kind of cute.

Another brunette girl from the group Dee pointed to had joined their mission. Rora didn't recognize her, but she could assume she was likely in Gryffindor or Slytherin since Rora was pretty familiar with the faces of younger Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws by now. Taking a deep breath, Rora spoke reassuringly. "Right then, let's go. Those little legs don't look sturdy enough to hold up it's entire body. Maybe someone can distract it and the other can poke at the legs. We'd need a couple people to be ready in case it starts rolling all over the place." She placed her books on the ground, hastily through her hair up in a bun and flanked the two girls as they hurried toward the giggling orange pumpkin.

There was really not much of a doubt that a walking, giggling pumpkin did not belong free on the grounds of Hogwarts... right? Though luckily the students in the courtyard were quick to action, and without much of a hassle they managed to capture it. With some people flanking the sides, and others sprinting for it before it got away, they safely brought the strange skipping veggie’s adventure to an end. Now whatever does one do with a captured living pumpkin?

"Thanks, Akari!" Dee called with a bright grin when her fellow Headliner member jumped in to help, quickly turning towards the left side of the pumpkin while Dee sped up her steps to try and cut off its path. Her attention focused on the sprinting vegetable, it was no big surprise when her distraction turned into a collision, a blonde girl bumping into her after suddenly appearing behind a corner. Barely slowing, she just turned her head to wave off the apology. "No worries, uh..." A name, a name. She'd seen the girl before, she was a Ravenclaw first year. Was it... right!! Aurora, a less strange one than the other Aurora Dee knew. No, wait, not entirely correct. "Rora!" she finished her sentence. Yep, that was the nickname. "It's pumpkin catching time!"

Thankfully, Rora also decided to help, understanding the situation without requiring further explanation, which left them with three people to close in on the waddling vegetable. The pumpkin was slowing down a little now that it's path was cut off, perhaps looking for an escape route.

Dee blinked, looking slightly amused at Rora's suggestion while she slowed, carefully moving closer to their target. Poke at its legs? If they were close enough for that, why wouldn't they just grab it? Perhaps all Auroras were slightly strange, after all, not that Dee was in any position to judge. Ravenclaws tended to be full of strange ideas, odd but wonderful, thinking outside any defined boxes. It was one of their best traits, really.

Feeling a little like they were a team on a special mission, Dee waved at the other two, motioning them forward. They had it surrounded, all that was left to do was to grab it.

Sorry for the delay! Emily told me a few days ago that she wouldn't be able to participate after all; and I barely had any time this past weekend. Since River already rolled for us, feel free to have one of your characters catch the pumpkin!

Mission capture the moblie pumpkin was underway!
Noticing that another joined in on the action, though Akari hadn't recalled ever meeting her before, she nevertheless sent a wide friendly grin over to the girl and made a mental note that she went by Rora after hearing Dee speak to her, before she then kept on sprinting forward.

Well, poking it was certainly one way to go about this operation, however, she currently had nothing on hand that she could use to do so and as far as she could see the other two didn't either. So perhaps grabbing it would still be their best bet.

As they closed in on the orange veggie, Akari continued wondering what could then be the easiest and most effective method of capture, they really needed to be smart about this and think it through otherwise, they may give the pumpkin an opportunity to slip past them and force them to start the tiresome chase all over again. And they certainly couldn't let that happen.

While Akari slowly moved in, she looked up at the other two girls and in an attempt to not spook the vegetable she whispered as quietly as possible over to them both. "Okay, as Rora suggested, I'll distract it, and while it is looking over at me one of you go ahead and catch it"
Satisfied with this strategy and if there were no objections from the other two, Akari was ready to make an amusing scene for the little pumpkin.

"Oi, You! Mister Pumpkin! Look over here! Uh- Stay still so we can catch you please!" She called out and then started backing up very slowly.
She truly hoped that it didn't understand her and that what she was doing was enough to get it distracted.
Once it would turn to look at the origin of the commotion, Akari would mouth to the girls "Now, go!". They were so close - Sorry Mister Pumpkin.
