The rays of subtle light cast themselves upon the courtyard below, visible only when shone through the gaps of the stone structures and branches of trees. Wind blew swiftly yet not enough to effectively rummage through the pages of the Defense Against The Dark Arts textbook Daffodil was holding.
Classes started soon but she had more than enough time to catch up on what she had missed during the week prior. Her fingers deftly turned the pages as she continued to read the words, attempting to maintain as much knowledge as she had read. While not her best subject, it was certainly one of her favourites. She found the history fascinating and loved to divulge in learning more of the interesting techniques witches and wizards used in the Dark Arts.
Her back slouched slightly against the stone pillar as she moved her legs further downward. Wind rustled the branches of the trees and the odd leaf fell, travelling towards the frequently trodden ground. As the breeze whistled in her ears, it turned a page of her textbook. Daffodil let out an annoyed sigh, forcing the ink stained page back to where she wanted it.
She looked up and out at the courtyard for a moment, noting the brown-haired Ravenclaw who had been sat on the wooden bench for longer than she had been against the pillar. The girl seemed angry now, much more distraught than she had been when Daffodil had first made an appearance.
Daffodil hadn’t made much of it originally. Having assumed the Ravenclaw was just having a bad day. Perhaps she had gotten only ninty-eight percent on a test. She thought Ravenclaws always got upset over those types of grades.
However, she couldn’t help but notice how the girl fiddled with her fingers and the way her leg shook ever so slightly. Was she aware of Daffodil’s presence? Did Daffodil scare her?
A second later, she slammed shut her textbook, opening up her bag to place it inside before closing again. She hoisted the leather strap further up her shoulder and left the pillar, separating herself from the comfort of the stone.
Her legs carried her towards the bench the lone girl occupied, “You know, not all Slytherin’s are to be feared,” She told the girl. “There’s no need to look anxious. You’re acting as though I’m going to jinx you,” Daffodil commented, expecting the girl to retort.

The warmth of the sun veiled the air of Hogwarts. It was not every day to have a sunny day. Hogwarts is always known to be gloomy as the clouds seemed never to give the sun its chance to shine. Aurora woke up from her bed and thought her day would be as wonderful as the weather. She did not know how wrong she was until she received a letter from her home, specifically from her stepfather during her breakfast time in the great hall. Opening the letter is not necessary to make Aurora’s mood dropped to zero. She put the letter inside the pocket on her robe and stomping to the courtyard, maybe absorbing the energy from the sun might help her feel much better as she waited for her charm class to begin.
Aurora approached an empty bench in the courtyard and slumped as she let the sun take away the negative energy within her soul. She sat in a meditation position and closed her eyes, breathed in and out, and mumbled “ommmmmmmm” even though she had no idea what she was doing, but according to her brain, she meditates in the courtyard.
After minutes of doing her own version of meditation, she felt worse than before instead of having a great mood. Aurora opened her eyes and contemplated whether she read the letter from her stepfather or not. Her right hand moved to the inside of her robe back and forth while her fingers on her left hand fidgeted uncontrollably. The bench vibrated as if there was an earthquake just on that spot because Aurora’s leg shook a little too much. She always did that whenever she felt anxious or thinking about something. She sighed and decided to walk somewhere else. But before she could do that, a blonde girl approached her and said,
“You know, not all Slytherin’s are to be feared.”
Aurora gasped a little as she did not expect someone would talk to her especially when she looked like an angry and anxious mountain troll. The blonde Slytherin continued,
"There’s no need to look anxious. You’re acting as though I’m going to jinx you”
Aurora gave the Slytherin a confused look. She had no clue about what the Slytherin talked about.
“Calm down blondie, it has nothing to do with you.” She said to the Slytherin, slightly harsher than how she intended it to be. It was rare for Aurora to not be nervous around new people, she will only talk without stuttering to her close friend and if she’s mad about something. And this was one of that rare time. Aurora was about to say sorry for snapping at her. Maybe it was the bad mood that made her said something that clearly was not an apology.
“Wait, are you really going to jinx me?”
