Scarlett was bored.

And she had nothing to do. No drastic events or emergencies to attend to.

This was not a common ocassion. Yes, Scarlett was often bored. The young, impulsive Gryffindor simply had a small attention span, and it was often hard for her to stay interested in an activity for long. However, she was saved by the sheer amount of dramatic and exciting events at Hogwarts - when she was bored, there was always family history to delve into, lakes to fall in, spells to cast, brawls to fight or books to throw at people. But this time, none of that would save her. Hogwarts seemed deserted - it wasn't like there was no one in the school. There were plenty of chattering students, of course. However, none were talking to her. Hogwarts was so big, it would be almost impossible to find her friends, since they didn't hang out 24/7.

So, once again, Scarlett had slipped out of the castle and into the comfort of the outdoors. She wore a large Gryffindor jumper and carried a few snacks to eat, in case hunger struck. They were the typical wizarding treats - Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans, Pumpkins Pastries, Liquorice Wands and Sugar Mice. Scarlett's wand was in her jean pocket. The redhead had learned to carry it with her everywhere, after many disastrous events where she was un-equipped.

Scarlett didn't know exactly what to do as her dark-brown eyes scanned the courtyard. Apart from the odd students milling about, she was alone. Scarlett was planning to go to the more natural part of the grounds, the part with hills and mountains and trees and lakes, but something kept her in that courtyard. It was just the odd feeling, one that just popped up out of nowhere, but she stayed anyway. Scarlett trusted her instincts.
