His Ipomoea Alba Invitation

Klaus walked down the corridor that surrounded the courtyard with his other Slytherin fellows; having just exited Charms class and now off to enjoy a quick recess before they were off to the next period. It was one of the few subjects that the boy enjoyed, and today, he was able to excel in executing the newly taught locking and unlocking spell - which really brought him into a good mood.
The group of first year boys continued to walk through the corridors, laughing and chatting amongst themselves. One of the hot topics seemed to be the rumored Spring Ball - the so-called “Secret Blossom Ball”. There weren’t much details that Klaus knew about other than a handful of first years were coming together to organize the taboo event. He remembered one of the Slytherin boys was spreading word around the dormitories, encouraging everyone to attend and even giving away tips on how to secretly go without any of the faculty knowing.
Klaus has had a history with balls and soirees; most of which hadn’t been the best moments in his life. He remembered them to be dull, tiring and just too much of a pressure the more he grew older doing them at the Vieux Manor. All the proper etiquettes, the list of “kiddish” things he wasn’t able to do during the events, the words he was supposed to use when speaking to the “valued” guests, and the painful smiles he had to wear on all throughout the night without end.
Klaus grew to hate balls.
But, he quite likes the idea of breaking rules every now and then - especially after being placed under them all throughout his entire childhood.
He was also hoping that the ones he’ll be attending in Hogwarts may just be a lot more different. And so he was willing to try and attend the secret function.
The french-born had looked out to drink in the spring weather. The skies were baby-blue, not like the washed out greys of wintry mornings, but the clouds were puffs of radiant joy, ready to disperse into the breeze. Out of all the seasons, Spring was definitely something that Klaus enjoyed the most.
As his eyes glanced down, he took note of the courtyard’s centerpiece and all the vegetation that surrounded the place; blossoming and thriving in the wondrous weather that urged the beginning of life. The area was occupied by several students, some reading, a few practicing spells, a handful gathered around the game of chess.
But, a familiar face had caught his eye. One that wasn’t hard to miss. Just from the body posture and the way the silky black locks flew against the wind, he could easily tell who it was.
“I’ll meet you at Potions, lads.” Klaus announced to his classmates, who replied with a chorus of ‘see yas’, before the male began making his way onto the cobblestoned grounds. It’d been a while since he last had a proper one-on-one conversation with her, only brief greetings and small conversations during a few of their joined classes. He wondered if she had been able to keep herself busy by making new friends. He reckoned that they were all pure-bloods, remembering their last conversation regarding it in the express.
But that thought was thrown right out, because if that were the case then he wouldn’t have been in the picture… if only she had known the truth.
Klaus made a quick stop to pluck out a blooming flower on one of the vines along the way, his smile etching out wider across his face as he neared the girl who seemed to sit quietly, pondering about something. He halted right next to her, leaning over her shoulder as he held out the moonflower in her view.
“Flower for your thoughts, 내 친구야?”

Easter Holiday had gone by rather quickly and uneventful, though Seul did purchase a new dress for the sake of having one, totally not because she was planning on going to the Blossom Ball or anything. There was no way she was going to go to this dance, after all, this ball was against the rules. The girl had absolutely no idea how the students are going to pull this off. A large chunk of the student body missing on a Saturday night? The professors are bound to find something suspicious sooner or later. Even just exiting her DADA classroom, the girl could make out dozens of students roaming the corridors murmuring about the ball. She let out a hopeless sigh as she began to make her way towards the courtyard; people here seem to be horrible at keeping things quiet, it’s a wonder that the professors haven’t already busted this operation.
There was a break before her next class began, so Seul decided to catch a couple of minutes of reading before leaving for her Charms class. The girl twirled her silky strands of hair between her fingers, gazing at the bright hues of the sun beaming towards the center of the courtyard as she made herself comfortable on a ledge below one of the many arches bordering the area. Over the past few months, the girl had perfected the art of emptying her head. It was quite a useful skill to zone away from the many pestering fleabags that attended Hogwarts. In fact, she was so engrossed in her book and thoughts that she almost missed the boy standing right in front of her.
“Flower for your thoughts, 내 친구야?”
A blond boy leaned over her shoulders offering a white flower. Of course, it was none other than Klaus, the person she considered having the best manners among all the students she met. The glow from the sun above illuminated his golden hair, enhancing his already delightful smile. Seul couldn’t help but return his smile before remarking: “You do realize that the Ipomoea Alba are poisonous… right?”

The spring breeze came to greet them, it came like a wave, greeting them suddenly and leaving immediately; returning only when it wanted to again. His hair flew along with it, long golden wavy locks came undone from its already intentional mess. As he kept the same smile even while he felt the coolness hit his cheek.
At this time of day, Klaus would’ve been happily frolicking the Vieux grounds, picking various flowers of all kinds, and bringing them back inside to be chosen by the head maid and placed into expensive vases.
“You do realize that the Ipomoea Alba are poisonous… right?”
Her comment caught Klaus off-guard, dumbfounded, he just stared at her with a fixed smile and wide eyes. His brain formulated no thoughts other than to register that he was shocked. His dark eyes peered back at the fallen flower he had picked up on the ground from the vines.
Klaus then loosened his grip on the flower, letting it depressingly fall from his fingers and back onto the ground. “Ah, I knew that…” He sheepishly said, a small blush creeping up to his cheeks as he wiped the residue off on his cloak and let out a nervous chuckle before sitting himself down next to the girl.
“Anyways, it’s been a while since we got to talk like this… How was your break? Went back home, did ya?” He said, placing his books onto his lap. “Also, have you heard of that ball going around lately? The nippers wouldn’t stop talking about it in the dorms.” He leaned in closer to Seulrene’s ear, speaking a little bit softer on the topic as to be wary of being heard by unwanted ears. “Do you plan on going to such?”

“No don’t feel bad!” Seul responded to the boy who dropped the flower in a somewhat defeated manner. The girl still couldn’t get the friendly communication part quite right. It was instinct for her to begin the conversation on such a standoffish mood, despite trying so hard to at least seem less cold and distant. Frankly, she always botches her attempts at what she felt was a humorous joke. Maybe starting off a conversation with a fact on a poisonous flower wasn’t the way to go. Trying to redeem herself, she added, “I- I mean I’m sure you had good intentions…” The girl’s complexion hinted at mellow blush.
“Anyways, it’s been a while since we got to talk like this… How was your break? Went back home, did ya?”
Klaus suddenly moving next to Seul startled her, but she quickly brushed off her surprised expression. What was she expecting? Of course, Klaus would make such a maneuver; he is still that charismatic and somewhat charming boy from the first day of school. Seul relaxed and leaned her back against one of the arch pillars, closing her book and resting it atop her lap as Klaus did. “My break was uneventful, as always, but I was able to pay a trip to Diagon Alley!* I was surprised my father took me there. I even bought a-” The girl caught herself before she said too much. She was going to say a “new dress for the ball” but then realized that saying that in front of Klaus would fluster her too much.
“Also, have you heard of that ball going around lately? The nippers wouldn’t stop talking about it in the dorms.”
“Do you plan on going to such?”
“Th-the ball? Oh yes, I’ve heard about it here and there… though I don’t know if I’m going to go…” Seul replied sheepishly, trying to hide her excitement on wearing her new dress to the dance. Her cheeks lit up pinker than before as she turned her face away from Klaus.

Klaus paid attention to how Seulrene responded quickly to his failed attempts at being clever, the way she, too, attempted to lift him up afterwards was something that made the boy smile - even noticing the red hue that appeared on her cheeks. “It was my fault for not being careful, I almost brought harm to a lady by gifting her poison. I would’ve had my head sliced off, hadn’t you been familiar with this flower.” He uttered, looking down at his lap as he sunk a little into his seat bashfully in embarrassment, glancing over to the sad-looking moonflower - internally telling himself to hit the books more than he already does to heighten his knowledge.
“My break was uneventful, as always, but I was able to pay a trip to Diagon Alley!* I was surprised my father took me there. I even bought a-”
He furrowed his brows slightly when the girl paused mid-sentence. “What have you bought?” He asked, urging her to continue and finish her sentence. “Well at least you got to spend time home… I only had Aimon owl me a few parcels of snacks and sweets from France.” He said as he swung his feet a bit while he sat. The snacks had been a delight to munch on during his reads, it brought him a sense of nostalgia that was comforting to him. Though he wished he’d been able to just go back to London and spent time with his trusted butler, or just a very familiar presence.
“Th-the ball? Oh yes, I’ve heard about it here and there… though I don’t know if I’m going to go…”
Klaus nodded afterwards, agreeing to what the girl said. “Me neither… I don’t have good memories of balls, or any events similar to those.” He shared. Usually, he’d never be the type to say anything about this, especially not to a friend of his family’s fortune. But ever since the day he met the girl at the express, something in him made him feel that it was okay to say these things without being judged or face any consequences.
“But I feel like if it’s related to Hogwarts, then maybe it’d be different.” He said afterwards as he turned to Seulrene with a toothy grin. “I also heard everyone’s being rowdy about picking a date, or who to share company with. Has anyone asked you to the ball yet?”
