The Subtleties of Mischief PV Henry Knight

Waiting in the courtyard, scarf pulled tight over his mouth, Henry sat with rolled parchment in his lap. Over the last several days, he had been hard at work doodling all the pranks and contraptions he could remember. Daniel had prepared him well for wreaking havoc on his own. Not that either of the boys had known Henry would soon be away from his family. Still, all the plans and jokes they had made and played were rooted somewhere in Henry's memory and he had scribbled them all down as best he could. He enjoyed the occasional joke against someone, though it was even better when it was someone who was okay with being messed with. Still, after the last time he had built something, he had made a friend with another jokester. Bonus was that they shared a name.

Henry and K had planned to meet in the courtyard to plan out more stuff. That was why Henry had compiled all the plans and tricks he could think of. Though he wasn't entirely sure what they were going to discuss, Henry had come prepared. He was more prepare for this little study session than he was for any of his classes. It was something, however, that he was far more interested in than any of his classes. Though he did like Charms and Transfiguration, it was still far more interesting doing something he was familiar with. So, he sat, waiting for K to show up so they could start their mischief making.

Outfit
Henry walked through the courtyard with his messager type bag on his shoulder and his faded slytherin scarf that was his older brother's around his neck. Loki, a young orange feline in a leather jacket with a santa stitch from the secret Santa errand strolled by his side and Henry was looking for his ravenclaw friend; Henry Llewellyn.

After a first meeting which was spent building a catapult and getting up to mischief not to mention joking about their share names allowing for the creation of nicknames. Henry decided on Red for Henry Llewellyn which he thought fit the first year since he had red hair but also a fiery spirit that Henry admired a lot and thought of the boy has an amazing friend.

Remembering that the two agreed to meet in the courtyard to study but actually the two would be developing plans to create mischief and chaos in secretive ways which was also why Henry brought the marauders map, the boy only hope that Red liked it.

Spotting his ravenclaw friend, Henry would approached him with Loki who would paw the first year gently before taking his seat in between the two boys as Henry waved toward his friend before speaking " hey, Red," a smile grew on his face as he continued, " it's brilliant to see you again and I have something to show you."

Sitting down next to Henry Llewellyn as Henry sat his massager type bag next to him before pulling out the fake permission slip and after unfolding it as the boy straighted it out since technically it belong to his brother but Henry was using it to get him to Hogsmeade a year earlier before showing it to Henry Llewellyn as he spoke " it's a permission slip for hogsmeade that technically was my brother's but..." handing the slip to Red so he could see it, Henry continued to smiled as he spoke " I use it to sneak into hogsmeade, you can have it next year if you want?"

Fiddling absently with the corner of one of his parchment rolls, Henry waited for K. Though he wasn’t sure what the result of their little meeting was going to be, he knew it would be great. Perhaps not as great as some of the tricks he had gotten up to back home, but certainly some pretty great ones. K had a different mind then Daniel and Diana, so maybe they would do something entirely different from what Henry had done back home. The possibilities were endless.

Before long, Henry felt the little paw of Loki nudge him. Looking up, he saw K and a grin lit up his face. A good friend, and a good mischievous friend, were hard to come by, and Henry appreciated the connection. Not just because they both enjoyed jokes and tricks, but also because they shared a name. It had been funny writing to his mum that he had a new friend with the same name. “It’s great to see you again, too.” Henry responded, immediately growing curious when K told him he had something to show him.

Leaning over a little bit, he looked over the permission slip, grin crossing his face as he realized how real it looked. “That’s wicked! I've never been to Hogsmeade” Henry stated absently, gladly taking the permission slip when K offered it to him. He scanned the page, taking a closer look at it. “This is brilliant! It’ll be so useful! We could gather materials here.” Henry practically drooled over the page, desperately wishing he had one of his own.

Henry smiled toward the red head not only because he was glad to see him and that he was relieved almost to be meeting up but also that he was interested in the Slip and thought it would be a good idea to use and even plan out a few schemes with and get a few pranking items.

Loki leaned a bit on Henry Llewellyn's leg as the red head petted him before stretching his back a bit and turning in on tight knit circle before laying down right in the middle of both Henry's as the feline continued to flick his tail a bit from one side to the other.

Moving a bit closer to Red, a smile grew wider as Henry explained the fake permission slip a bit to his friend, " my brother didn't even know that I took it at first well until I accidentally ran into him at hogsmeade but it still works to get me into hogsmeade," smiling toward his friend before pointing in a certain direction just beyond the school gates as he spoke " no one is expecting any mischief at hogsmeade but there's so much snow that not having an snowball fight is impossible," a smile still growing on his face as he looked into Henry Llewellyn's eyes.

Looking down back at the slip as he nodded with a growing smile toward Red's suggestion about using the fake permission slip to get a few mischief items and maybe we do a few scehems there as he spoke, " yeah, great idea Red! Especially since hogsmeade has all kinds of mischief items and starting mischief there won't necessary get us in trouble.."

Meeting up with K was always nice. Though they hadn’t spent too much time together since launching stones and buttons off a staircase, it was still nice to spend even a little time with him. Henry appreciated his presence and the familiarity of planning jokes with someone. He’d written home about Henry, specifically for Daniel and Diana to know he had a partner in crime.

As K explained how it worked, Henry continued to scan the page, looking at the words and the signature. He laughed when K explained that his brother hadn't noticed the slip had gone missing until they had run into each other in Hogsmeade. That was pretty funny to think about, suddenly running into each other when one of you definitely shouldn't be there. He imagined the look on K's brothers face, mostly just imagining the look on K's face, since he didn't know K's brother.

Turning to look at K excitedly, he went to nod in agreement but was caught off guard by a weird feeling in his gut. The intense look of mischief in K’s eyes was…powerful? Henry couldn’t describe the feeling well and tried to brush it off. “Er, yeah! It would be perfect!” He tried his best to cover up his loss of focus and turned back to the slip and the parchment he had rolled up in his lap. “I may have a few ideas for other things, too,” he offered, grabbing the rolls of parchment and offering them to K to look at.

The twelve year old would tuck the permission slip in a jacket pocket of his faded greenish jacket after explaining it to Henry Llewellyn and nodding a bit to his remark which sounded a bit awkward to the second year but didn't pay much attention to it instead Henry would push a few strands of hair from his eyes and nod toward his friend while he spoke " I'm glad you like it Red, that means a lot to me,"Henry would smile at his friend and make eye contact with him totally oblivious to the crush no matter how small his friend had on him.

The second year would then nod to his comment and take the rolls of parchment from his red hair ravenclaw friend before the second year would examine each parchment and carefully read it as his eyes lingered from the parchment to his friend and he spoke " so what's some of your ideas Red?"

The second year would cross his legs as he continued to examine the parchment from Henry Llewellyn still letting his linger from his friend; Henry Llewellyn back to the parchment the second year definitely could multitask. Loki however stretched his back for a moment as the orange feline yawned before paddling out a few feet in front of the two boys before going back and retaking his seat between them.

Letting K take the permission slip back, Henry thought of all the ways they could use it. Hogsmeade would not only have more materials in its shops, but Henry could probably find trinkets and lost things lying around. They would have to be careful, though, since Henry wasn’t sure if he could pull of being a third year. He was certainly tall for his age, but was he really convincing enough? Of course, there was only one permission slip, so K would probably be the one who went. Henry would just have to tell him everything they would need. For the moment, though, he was a bit distracted by the fluttering feeling in his chest at making eye contact with K.

When the conversation turned to what he had in his lap, he let K look them over. He wasn’t sure if any of them made sense, since Henry remembered things better when he drew them out. There were notations here and there, but for the most part, it was just scribbles. “Well, we did this one at Valentine’s Day,” he paused for a moment as his voice cracked at the mention of Valentine’s Day, “er, for my mum.” The illustration was of a bucket in a doorway that dumped glitter and cut-out hearts on the victim. His mum had laughed at first, but they spent weeks cleaning glitter from the hallway and the laundry.

“This one, we filled mum’s cabinets with origami stars,” he laughed at the memory. It had taken days to make enough stars, though, so this one was a bit tricky. There also weren’t very many cabinets in the castle. Turning to another one, he explained: “we pranked my dad by putting worms in his coat pockets. It was simple, but it was funny seeing him try to figure out where they came from.”

Henry checked to ensure both his wand and the fake permission slip was safely tucked away in his jacket pocket before the twelve year old would look over at the red head giving him his full attention however the boy couldn't stop thinking about how Red couldn't go to hogsmeade yet while he had a fake permission slip and could pretend to be a third year which wasn't that much of a problem. Watching and listening to his friend speak whole silently in his head the second year thought about what if he helped Red obtain a fake permission slip so they both could go to hogsmeade during the visits.

Taking the scrolls and unfolding them as they boy read through the notes and illustrations a smile started to form around the edges of his mouth as he saw scribbles and cramped writing along with what appeared to be in Henry's opinion pretty amazing illustrations explaining each prank that was listed.

Henry moved his eyes from the scroll once he was done reading and smiling at it which didn't take long, after year of reading at home and teaching himself to speed read as well as write with both hands the twelve year old got through it pretty fast although at times he did have it squint to read a word or two but just ignored the fact.

Turning his eyes back toward Henry Llewellyn and making eye contact with him as the second year nodded a bit with a small smile toward his words. Although Henry might have flinched a bit when his friend mentioned pranking his mum mainly because after losing his own there was still a small part of him mourning for her which was why the sun rusted pendant from his mum sat underneath his shirt and hidden from view.

"That looked like it was wicked! But were you guys in loads of trouble from your mum?" Henry asked his friend with a smile before looking back over at the valentine's glitter prank for a moment.

The second year turned his eyes back toward his friend's at the sound of his voice before looking back at the parchment to read over and study the illustration of the prank he mentioned. After a moment the twelve year old would speak as his eyes turned back to look at Red, " Origami stars? That sounds bloody brilliant! Perhaps we can do something like it here except use the duplication charm to multiply it. Then maybe use the levitation charm or wind jinx to startle people with them?"

Henry smiled at his friend clearly happy to be there and that he was friends with Henry Llewellyn, the next thing on his mind was telling him. Telling him his secret... that he was a werewolf. Only a handful of students at the school knew and three well actually four of them were werewolves like him.

Looking over the scroll again at his friend's words before back at Henry Llewellyn as a smile grew across his lips before the second year spoke " that's a bloody brilliant prank! Did you get in trouble with your father? Maybe we could use flobberworm slime to recreate it in a way here?"

There were plenty of pranks that Henry and his siblings had attempted over the years. It was difficult to remember them all, but Henry had done his best. While telling K about each of them, his memory brought each moment back vividly. It was fun, reminiscing like this. He was glad K was enjoying it, too. Sometimes Henry missed home, but it was moments like this that he appreciated everyone he had at school.

Henry laughed at K’s question, nodding a little bit. “Sort of. She’s gotten used to the fact that we celebrate holidays and birthdays using pranks, and she knew we wouldn’t go overboard. She did make us do all the cleaning, though, since glitter gets everywhere.” Henry responded, remembering how they were finding glitter for weeks after the prank had been sprung. Occasionally, they still found small flecks of pink glitter around the house. It always made them laugh.

Listening to K’s suggestions about the origami stars, Henry’s eyes lit up. “That’s brilliant! I never thought of that.” Adding spells and magic into his pranks didn’t cross his mind that often, since it was still kind of a new concept to him. “I have a ton of stars I made a while ago, but we can definitely make more and have more fun with it.” The ones he had made were somewhere around his bed. He kept them in a small bag, somewhere, though he was going to need the bag for something else eventually, it was a good place to keep them for now. It would be even better if they could just have a ton of them to use however they wanted.

Henry shrugged at K’s question. “Only a little. It didn’t take him long to figure out it was us, and he didn’t punish us too much, since it was pretty harmless. He did insist on making us do his laundry, though.” The pockets had become a little dirty after so many worms had been through them, so their father found it only fair they do a load of laundry for him. It was reasonable. At the mention of flobberworm slime, Henry grinned from ear to ear. “Oooh, that would be so gross! But perfect,” he said, thinking of how gross it would be to stick your hand into the pockets of your jacket or robes and just feel the gooeyness of flobberworm slime.

Henry read over the list still listening to Henry Llewellyn, multitasking was a skill that the twelve year old picked up early on in his life actually he learned it from his older brother. Just another thing that he learned from him really and Henry finished the list still smiling the boy would hand it back Red, looking into his eye and catching every word.

Henry would nod to his friend's words about pranking and getting in trouble with his mom. Again Henry might have looked a bit uncomfortable for a moment remembering his own before the smile appeared on his face once again as the boy replied" you and siblings must prank a lot for her to get use to it, uh? Do you miss them, your siblings Red?" Siblings was the one of the things he could relate to since the second year finds himself often missing his older brother not so much his twin through.

Henry's smiled widen as he looked at Red glad that he liked his idea on using magic to put almost a twist on the star prank that he mentioned early before nodding to his next comment and speaking himself, " we could use the ones that you already made but if it's fun why not make some more ourselves? Then we could use magic to startle others with them," smiling as Henry thought that would be a cool hangout to make paper stars with his red head friend which funny enough counting Henry Llewellyn almost all of his close friends are red head.

Henry nodded still at a disbelief that his friend's words before laughing and saying" you must have been lucky to not have been punished that bad. Whenever my twin or I pulled a prank regardless if it was on our father or not he would always punish us quite strictly." Before listening to his friends words again taking a moment to think before getting his friends eye contact and speaking" the care of magical creatures may have some but question is, how do we get it?" the boy asked regarding the flobberworm slime.
