Both the Gryffindor and Slytherin teams got through the hunt without greater difficulties, convincing Opeila that it was not necessary to check on them any longer. Everyone was doing just fine. The second year made her way to the Trophy Room to wait for Evelynn. She wondered if her partner had let the Gryffindors know that this was a competition that went beyond their own house- The Slytherins wouldn't know unless anyone told their friends.
Surprisingly soon the first team made it to the final location- One of the boys teams from her own house, Dan, Percival and Michael. She sent each of them a smile- Percival might be able to detect a hint of insecurity in her expression- and waved. "You're first, well done!", she congratulated them.
There was a medium sized box on the ground next to Opeila, the lid still closed.
Her attention was quickly pulled to the next team entering- A Gryffindor team, of whom only two entered to her big surprise. "Wait- is it only the two of you? Man, you did great then, you're second!"
It was like they had talked it out, Slytherin and Gryffindor teams entered in turns. It was the Dorea Potter team next, then another Gryffindor team- what did they call themselves- Lava Lions? Opeila only knew two people in it, Katrina and Scarlett. Then it was the so called dysfunctional snakes, followed by Elena and her team and in the end her own dorm. Not that it affected Opeila's mood in the slightest, one team had to be first and one last, at least all of them made it! She had seen a lot of teamwork through the event, so it was successful.
Eventually, when the Trophy Room was crowding with more than 20 students, Opeila cleared her throat. "Hey, everyone! I'm glad that you all made it here, you all did great- Is this everyone?" She would look at Evelynn for a moment, the Slytherin had no idea how many Gryffindor participants were there. "Alright, so thank you all for participating! I hope you enjoyed it all, I certainly did. Before we all leave again- or stay, however you prefer- there is just a little something we brought for all of you." Finally Opeila opened the little box next to her and called one team after the other forward to give them their rewards, allowing Evelynn to help her if she wanted.

She was right with her guess, it was the last destination, they had reached their final place. Haley jumped for joy and was proud of her little team. She gave Alan a gentle nudge against the shoulder and grinned broadly at him, "We did it!" They had done it, in a noticeable amount of time, for being only two (three) of them. Suddenly she realized she had just nudged Alan against the shoulder and looked down at the floor for a moment, "U-um sorry." She grinned apologetically at him before getting distracted by something else.
They were greeted by Opeila and as she spoke Haley's eyes fell on the group of three boys that were already there. They had unfortunately not managed to be first but they were second. And even if she would have liked to win, it was not only about winning. She had had a fun day and that was enough for her. (With the fact that at least they hadn't lost).
It didn't take long for more groups to arrive and one by one the room filled up with the rest of the groups. Haley smiled at the groups as they waited for the last to arrive at their destination. She spotted not only unfamiliar faces, umbrella boy - Hanako - whom she winked at briefly before turning her attention back the other way, Elena and Cassandra. She greeted them all with a quick wave before moving on in the round
As soon as the team was called by, Haley headed over to Opeila and Evelynn with a big grin and took her reward.

The trophy room was so close, she could sense it as Elena accompanied her fellow team-mates to the prescribed destination. If she had deduced the riddle correctly, it meant this was the finish line and that it would be in their best interest not to waste any precious seconds as even the slightest delay could mean that another team got the upper hand over them. "It should be just up ahead." Elena said rather excited to see if they would come out on top or not as she led the way veering into the trophy room, a place she had been only once adorned with all it's plaques, awards and famous hallmarks of achievmenets but unforunately, it seemed like their group wasn't the first as there were several other people there as well, people from the other groups and that sent a clear message to her. They hadn't been the first and while that might have been a dissappointing result, the third year took comfort in the fact that maybe hopefully they certainly weren't the last.
All of the riddles had led to here no matter which group you were a part of and that was a truly genius idea on part of both the house prefects who had designed this fun little outing. "Well, we tried at least." She said giving both Tory and Everly a grin offering her hand for a small high-five if they would accept it, she might certainly have her differences with some in their group but Elena took pride in the fact that they hadn't given up, that they had put their minds together and managed to pick the riddles apart bit and bit until they ended up here and that in her mind was a victory that she could live with if you asked her. Their attention was directed to the front where Opeila began to speak, her eyes widening a bit at the revealation that none of them would be leaving empty-handed as evidenced by the box that held rewards for each team so it wasn't a total loss, not that Elena would have minded either way.
In any case, it had been a rather enjoyable experience and had put their intellect to the test darting from classroom to classroom and other locations. "I reckon it was those last two that probably cost us some time but we managed to do it." It felt odd to share a victory with a girl whom she typically clashed with and Elena wasn't sure how to respond to that but decided to let it go for now. She didn't want to be the prime reason everyone's fun was ruined as their team number was called and the brunette stepped forward plastering a genuine smile on her face curious to see what mysterious items this box contained, her hand extended with an open palm to accept whatever rewards the two prefects would bestow upon them for cracking those mind-boggling word puzzles. "Genius work with those, it was really nicely put together." She compliemented Opeila and Evelynn giving credit where it was due. It would not be as competitive without the organization and that was all part of the fun so they also deserved to have their roles highlighted in all of this.

Once the group had figured out their last clue, they had scurried their way to the trophy room. The last time Starlee had spent a large amount of time in that room was when she and Everly brought their flobberworms there - resulting in a prefect catching the pair mid-burning trophy in the fireplace. Luckily they hadn't been given a detention for it, but they did have to polish the trophy to get the hardened mucus off. A small price to pay to not have detention.
This time was on a much lighter note, but Starlee's face did waver a bit when they entered the trophy room to find a handful of people there already. It wasn't too many people, just five, excluding Opeila and Evelynn of course, but that could mean either one or two groups finished ahead of them. Second or third wasn't too bad, but she was a little sad that Cash wasn't here yet - although at the same time it meant Piper wasn't there yet either. Four teams filed in after they arrived, with Everly and her team second to last, and Cash and Piper coming in last. Cash was pretty competitive, so Starlee would have to check in with them later.
She turned to her group, saying "We may not have come in first, but we did pretty well!" She beamed at them. "Now lets go get our prize!" She would wait until they were called forward and would thank Opeila and Evelynn. "This was a blast, thanks for setting this up!"

Dan was in intense suspense as he made his way to the final riddle's answer. He had figured it out instantly upon reading it, and had raced there with his team immediately.
Were they going to win? He certainly hoped so... They had answered the riddles correctly in a staggeringly short time. Just one after the other after the other.
But then... There was that one that had stumped them for a little while... That was what was niggling in Dan's mind. Making him doubt if they'd come in first...
He REALLY wanted to win 1st place again like last year, and have Mic win first place in his first Dorm Battle.
As he burst in, Opeila had greeted them. And, to Dan's immense delight, No one else was present. He and his team had come in first place!!
Dan let out a triumphant cheer.
"WOOO!! First place two years in a row!! Still the champ!! Great work guys!!!"
He hugged Mic, and started to do the same with Percy, but hesitated. then decided 'Shag it!' And hugged him anyway.
They had come in first place! Out of TWO houses this time, not just Slytherin, but Gryffindor too! How awesome was he and his team right now?!

The last mind boggling riddle for this year Dorm Battle bring team Sophisticated Snake to their real final stop. After Ileen geniusly tackled the alien riddle, it bring the four of them to this very room which is the Trophy Room. When Narcissa dorm team arrived at their destination, all of the other team already gathered. It means their team was the last team to arrived.
Cash waved back to Haley and give a thumbs up for Starlee and the rest of their team. The green eyes wanted so bad to win. To be in first place but someone need to be first and someone also need to be the last. Their mother always said 'winning is not everything. The important thing is what lesson you can reaped from such experience'. And their mother was right.
If not because this year dorm battle, Cash will never interacted with their other dorm mates. It was a fun experience to have. They might have their differences but the four of them willing to listen to each other and having the same common goal which was solving the riddle. Cash then turned toward Ileen, Piper and Sarah.
"Though we did not win and come in last, at least we get to know each other"The green eyes smiled. Cash then averted their green eyes from the other three and looked at the room. Cash swore at the beginning of this little scavenger hunt, they saw Henry and now they did not. The Cuban descendant make a mental note to check on Henry later on.
As the chatter from the other teams filled up the room, Opeila cleared her throat. The room then become quite. Pei gave her gratitude for all the team players that participating for this year event. Then Pei said she alongside with Evelynn (if she willing to help Opeila out) have a token of gratitude for each and every team that participate.
The Beater waited until their team being called out. And when the green eyes stood in front of both this year event organizer they smile. "This has been a blasted Pei and Evelynn, so thank you"They saidw as Cash grinned. Cash wanted to shortened Evelynn name as Eve but the Cuban descendant did not know the other Quidditch player that well.
It did not seem right to shortened someone name when you do not know them well. "Let's do this again next year and if any of you need another helping hand, I can help both of you with that"The green eyes told both Pei and Evelynn. And when they received their prize, Cash smile from ear to ear.
Although Sophisticated Snake come in last, at least the four of them did not go home empty-handed.

A battle of the minds. It wasn't a half bad idea for a little friendly competition between students - in fact, it was rather brilliant. Sure, there was no denying that Thora had appreciated the little return to a slightly duelling-related competition in last year's dorm battle after she'd last left the duelling stage unconscious after a test duel, likely never to return as a result of opting for Quidditch, but the opportunity to put her logic to the test had also been welcome. Last year's dorm battle had seen a magic-aided pillow fight while this year's had required no physical harm, however insignificant, only brains, but the differences ended there.
To her knowledge, both years had seen Opeila as an organizer of the dormbattle, although this year, she'd had the help of Evelynn. And just like the previous year, the participants had been organized into teams, mostly based on dorms - it was a dorm battle, after all. The participation had admittedly been lower than she'd expected, based on those she'd seen turn up in the common room briefly before they'd set off, but it was still high enough for a respectable number of teams to be made, each with a decent number of students.
Her team consisted of everyone representing her own dorm, Dorea Potter: Bridget, Illowy, and Starlee Kennedy. Though it came as no surprise, as they were - and always had - resided within the same dorm, Thora was glad to have been in with her best friend; not only was she wonderful company, but she'd likely also be a valuable asset in solving their riddles. Illowy she knew only slightly, as they'd both participated in one of the first pair duels a couple years back. Even so, Thora had immediately sensed Illowy's brilliance in duelling, and she'd seemed quite pleasant as well, judging from the short conversation they'd had following the test duel. And as for Starlee, Thora couldn't at all claim to know. They'd shared a dorm - though with several others - for practically nine months, at this point, and so she knew of the first year, but there was absolutely no familiarity, no history between the two. Despite all of that, though, the foursome made for a capable team, and before long, Thora was raring to begin.
For practically the entire length of their meandering route, rife with twists, through the campus, she simply followed her team, contributing where needed. Physically keeping up posed a challenge at times, no thanks to her short legs, and that wasn't to mention that the vastness of the castle and its grounds and the time-sensitive nature of the game required them to move the fastest they could short of breaking the rules. Thankfully, though, years (well, two) of playing Quidditch had certainly increased her athletic capacity and bettered her endurance, and so she didn't have too much trouble.
Along the way, it became obvious how wise the organizers had been in their sorting the participants into teams. Four to a team proved to be ideal, providing enough heads to generate possibilities others might've missed, while being small enough a number to prevent disagreements that could result in unnecessary delay. That was how it was for her team, at least; perhaps their success could also be chalked up to a general sense of agreeableness among them, with everyone listening to each other and fostering a healthy amount of teamwork.
To Thora, the Dorea Potter team had been incredibly efficient, needing little time to decipher each riddle - well, the number cipher had proved a little more difficult - and moving quickly between locations. So, it was admittedly surprising to see that they weren't the first, as she'd (quite proudly) anticipated. Not even were they the second, but they were the third team to enter. Of course, this caused no feelings of bitterness - not at all -, but she was certainly impressed by the speed of the other groups. This was really just a little friendly competition, after all, and nothing worth getting riled up over.
Stress relieved and with a smile on her face, she faced her team, echoing Starlee, "Yeah, really nice job, and it was fun being on a team with all of you!" Upon Opeila calling her team up, Thora would step forward to claim her reward, nodding at Opeila and Evelynn in turn. "Thank you guys so much for organizing this," she smiled at the two younger girls.
At the end of the day, she would be lying if she said their placement - third - hadn't been a bit of a disappointment. She'd developed something of a competitive spirit, after all, from all the Quidditch matches she'd played in, even though it really only appeared in situations such as these. But still, she knew it didn't matter; perhaps it was less than she'd hoped for, but teamwork and building relationships really had been the focal point of the competition, not winning. Despite its official title as a dorm battle, it wasn't dubbed a friendly competition for nothing.

@Rose Moon @Piérre Marchonne @Katrina Walker @Evelynn Decipio @Opeila Winters────── ☆ ───────Scarlett and her teammates - the self-dubbed lava lions - burst into the Trophy Room ready to claim their prize, or at least find out what place they had came in. After five brain-fuzzing, mind-boggling, head-scratching clues - well, maybe not that mind-boggling, apart from maybe the MUGGIEST DUELS one - and a lot of teamwork, conspiring, yelling and sprinting, the Lava Lions had wove their way through Hogwarts and Decipio and Opeila's clues to arrive here, in the Trophy Room. Fitting, wasn't it? The final destination was that of trophies and prizes.
Anyway, there were three other teams already awaiting them there. Three teams they hadn't beaten, but then again, three teams they had. Scarlett felt slightly disappointed at coming fourth, but she could live with it. At least the Lava Lions were right in the middle of the rankings - not majorly high but not majorly low. Scarlett's face broke out into a grin as she offered her hans up for a team high-five...a high-forty? "We did great guys! We're not last by any means, on the bright side. C'mon let's go get our rewards."
Opeila made her thank-you speech and Scarlett smiled widely at her, coming up to collect her reward with a wave. "Decipio! Opeila! Hi! Er - thanks a bunch for doing this whole scavenger hunt thing, it was really fun, and really smart. Until next year?" Scarlett laughed and collected her reward.────── ☆ ───────

This dorm battle had been a whirlwind. From place to place they rushed, stopping for as short a time as they could to puzzle out the riddles. Going up and down all those stairs and hurrying down corridors had been a veritable workout; by the time they reached the Trophy Room, the last location, Bridget was out of breath. Physical challenge aside, the mental challenge had been even more engaging, each riddle well-crafted. Sure, some were harder than others, but that was to be expected and perhaps largely dependent on the differences in thought process from one person to another.
Bridget felt she'd done a decent job of quickly coming up with answers, and yet, in comparison to Illowy, her contributions felt rather small. Illowy had been on fire--not literally, that would have broken the rules laid out by Opeila--blurting out not just answers, but mostly the right answers, almost immediately. For as much as this was a competition with other teams, mentally her goal was to solve more riddles than Illowy. Needless to say, she had lost that competition; of course, there were no hard feelings. It was a purely fun thing, and an unspoken one at that, since she hadn't openly challenged Illowy to a race of wits.
It was very much a helpful thing for Illowy to dominate the answering since she was so fast. If she was that good, why would they want her to keep the answers to herself? Even if the rest of them were mostly just assisting when she got stuck, agreeing with the locations she suggested, and hurrying to the next spot, it was plenty fun. For how efficiently they worked, though, they were not the first to arrive in the Trophy Room. Third was still fairly good, granted, and no doubt they'd lost some time on that last clue.
To her surprise, one of the teams to get there before them and several after were comprised of Gryffindors. Noting the presence of Evelynn Decipio over by Opeila, she put the pieces together: this Dorm Battle must have included Gryffindor, too. Interesting. Not something she was opposed to, either; maybe if this continued to grow, it could be a competition between Houses. Or perhaps teams of mixed Houses, that might be fun, though she'd probably know fewer of her team members.
"We did," she said with a smile, seconding Starlee. The fact they hadn't won was a little disappointing, her being competitive and all, but it was hardly a damper on her overall enjoyment. After a short wait for the rest of the teams to arrive, Opeila addressed the group, including at the end that there was a little something for them to get before they left. Starlee led the way over to the prizes, and like her and Thora, Bridget expressed her thanks as she collected hers. "Yes, thank you for organizing this. It was really well done and a lot of fun."
Once they'd cleared the way for everyone else to gather their prizes, Bridget gave Illowy a light, playful shove. "I had no idea you were so good with riddles! Not that it was much of a surprise." She'd known Illowy was quite smart, but there were different kinds of smart, so this was an interesting discovery. Her friend was good at a lot of things, it seemed. She would stay around a bit longer to talk to people, perhaps discussing the riddles they'd gotten with other teams, before heading out.

Percival followed after Miller and Palmer. Uncertainty as to whether or not Palmer had it correct. The other had solved the riddle so quickly that it had surprised him. Though, he was hardly complaining. He had come here to win. Anything less seemed far too unacceptable to himself. They had gone through the riddles at a good pace most of the time. Except for that one that had taken them far too long to figure out. It was difficult to pull one's self away from a previous idea. Especially, when the idea seemed to fit within the parameters of the riddle. Though, with any luck, their quickness in the other riddles would have made up for their slowness.
It seemed as if they had been running about Hogwarts for hours. They surely had to be almost done with this battle. Percival was not too sure how much longer he would be willing to run around with these two. The boy followed after Palmer, walking quickly into the Trophy room. His eyes widened as he saw Opeila and no one else. They had won. A stupid smirk crossed his facial features as he reveled in the idea. They had won.
"Good job team." he said in answer to Palmer's loud display of cheer. The boy watched as the other hugged Miller with a look of indifference. Though, as soon as the other came for him his eyes widened in surprise. Percival's eyes came upward in a defensive reaction. Though, the other didn't push the other away like he meant to. A few seconds passed before Percival finally pushed at the other's arms. "Alright let go of me. he said stepping away from the other.
