Dear Parker,
It's so hard to believe that I'm inside of an ancient castle in Scotland filled with wizards, witches, and magic! I think we've decided on one letter within the first week of each month? This, then, will be my first.
I know you're probably anxious for news, so I'd like to get that out of the way first. I've been sorted into Ravenclaw! Do tell, is it the house you always told me you expected? I wasn't sure myself, ever, really, but you already know that. The Sorting Hat considered me for all the houses and took quite a while to sort me, and it said that I but it seems to be a great house, just as you said, and fits well. I do have a question, though I hope I'll get to know a few more people there, but the Common Room is just so cozy that I tend to read through the night. The Sorting Hat A concern I've had-- during the Sorting, you know how the Sorting Hat kind of reads you as a person and talks in your mind communicates with you in a way? At first, it said that I was a Muggle-born like we always thought, but then it said I wasn't... and I'm not sure what to think. Maybe it was wrong? If not, I'd have to be a half-blood, or maybe wizard born. It's so strange to think about it.
I've started classes, and they're all very interesting, though I find Muggle Studies to be such a boring subject. Don't blame me if I don't seem to enjoy it as much as I'm sure you did, but it's just so repetitive. I don't think I have a favorite yet, although Defensce Against Dark Arts, Charms, and Herbology all seem to be to my liking.
Oh, the glorious, glorious library-- every shelf filled with so many books to read, just like you said! I've been gobbling them up every single day. Got some points docked off for reading in class, but my homework was done anyway, so I'm not so concerned-- my grades should be all right.
Oh! It looks like it's almost time for Charms, I'd like to finish here. I do miss you and the other professors dearly; tell Professor Carrows that I send my greetings, will you? I'll be sure to send more news next month!

Yours,
Celynne Sierra Flores
Cel read over the parchment for the last time, folding it neatly as she scanned the page for errors. She knew the crossed-out portions didn't look the best, but her hand was tired, and there was no way she would rewrite it when she was so short on time. The girl slipped it into the envelope lying on the ground next to her, sealed it, and rose to find a suitable owl.
She had lingered in the Owlery for nearly an hour now, and the whole time, a small owl had been eyeing her from its perch, watching her ink the words down on parchment and read to herself. Now she made her way to the little bird. It had the gigantic eyes of the barn owl and the white-and-brown plumage of a snowy owl. Ural owl, isn't it? she thought to herself, then smiled at it.
"You want to take my letter?" she murmured quietly to it, and when it simply stared back calmly, Cel held the letter out. In response, the owl stuck its leg out, so she gently tied the envelope around its feathered leg, not too tight to be uncomfortable but secure enough to not fall off.
The owl tipped forward, spreading its wings, and took off, soaring out of the Owlery in a whoosh of air. Cel smiled, watching the owl fly, then headed out herself.

Dear Cel,
Congratulations on your admittance into Ravenclaw! It was, in fact, the house I always knew you would be sorted into-- and quite honestly, I am not sure how you did not see it yourself. You have always fascinated yourself with things others of your age regarded as boring, and your thirst for knowledge is ineluctable-- just look at many books you packed and their material. Professor Carrow was delighted to hear-- she herself was a Gryffindor, you see, and had several great friends from Ravenclaw.
As for your Sorting Hat problem, I must confess I have no expertise in the topic. Blood is a strange thing, you know, but do not fear-- blood, though part of your demography, does not define you. Remember that, little kagu.
Some advice, for I know what you may be thinking-- do not stress over your report card, Cel; it will do you no good, and as long as you are learning, the first year will not affect your outcome. Simply do your best, but do not overwork yourself. That said, I know that you will do so anyway, so I recommend you take breaks often instead of working the whole day like you always do to reduce stress. I do not doubt your learning ability in the slightest, remember that.
Also, go socialize! You simply cannot stay in your books forever. Technically it may be possible, but I shall be quite disappointed if you have not met a single person before the winter holidays. Sing a song, help someone with homework-- a friend, dear Celynne, is a valuable person.

Your Professor,
K. Parker

Dear Parker,
Hello again! It's been a month, has it not?
Not much has happened recently. I've maintained straight O's-- don't worry, I'm not overworking myself, or at least I don't think I am. It's starting to get just a little busier, at least busier than last month, but I've always found time to read.
Another thing, Parker-- it happened again. I was alone, so nobody saw me, but it happened. This time I remembered a wand, like the ones you and I always use, but a little different-- all wands are different, are they not? The wand chooses the wizard; that's what Mr. Ollivander said. It was after Transfiguration class; I don't know what happened exactly, all I know is that one second I was walking down the empty corridor-- I stayed late reading, did you know Professor Blackburn has a pet tarantula named Denise? Usually, I would despise her, but she is a tarantula and is such a sweet thing--and another I was sitting against the wall and there was a wand pointed at me. Long, light-colored, brown, with filigree around the handle, and there wasn't a hand holding it. It went away after a few minutes, but I just don't know.
Remember that girl from the Leaky Cauldron, Mariah? She's very nice, and in my Charms class too. Lucky she went ahead. I do hope we talk another time.
Apologies for the short letter, but I really do have to go now-- my homework is piling up!

Yours,
Celynne Sierra Flores
P.S.- I'll not be writing in November or December or January; fall and winter holidays take care of it unless, of course, something happens.
