Dear, little witch
Aurora walked to the owlery with a letter inside a lavender envelope in her hand. It was quite windy during that time, the fresh smell of grass took her mind off the Easter break that is getting closer. In all honesty, she was set on not coming home during Easter and possibly Christmas since the day she arrived at Hogwarts. Stubborn was always in her gene, and she would do anything if that means she could avoid her step father's presence.
The second thing that was as annoying as her stepfather was her mom's owl, named Happy (Although, Aurora called it grumpy). It was a miracle that Aurora still has complete fingers seeing how often the owl bit her. She swore the owl has immense hatred toward the brown-haired girl for no reason.
"Grumpy! send this to mom." As she gave the envelope to the owl, as usual, it tried to bit her. Aurora squealed at Happy's sudden movement.
"Ouch! Stop biting me or I'll bite you back!"
Happy seemed a little surprised by her reaction and decided to deliver the letter.Friday, 26 March 2021

Hi mom, how are you? I hope you’re good and healthy as always.
You need to know something, and no, I’m not getting expelled (yet).
Don’t be mad, I will stay in Hogwarts during the entire Easter break because of reasons. And I ran out of paper for my sketchbook. It would be lovely if you could send me a new one. Or not, it’s up to you. Also, can I get a pygmy puff?

It did not took a long time for Happy to come back with a letter. Aurora was expecting a howler to be sent to her way, she was glad to see it was a regular letter, until she saw the sender's name.

It’s mom. Look, I get it you’re still mad. But this is way too much. All I ask of you is to give him a chance. He’s a good man, and he cares for you even if he’s not that good at showing it. I know you miss your father. I miss him too, every single day. But I believe he would have wanted to see you and me as close as we used to. It’s not like I defend Josh, it’s not like I chose Josh over you, I can see that he’s trying to understand you. This whole magic thing was new to him, and he never intended to annoy you or hurt your feeling.
So that you know, he was so worried you could not take care of yourself and begged me to let him come to Hogwarts and dragged you home. But I knew you would push him away even more if I let him do that.
Reply immediately, or I will not buy you a new sketchbook.

Around 6 to 7 pm
The quietness that filled the atmosphere almost tangible. Foliages, breaking branches, and hooting owl were the only sounds that accompanied Aurora. Usually, she always seeks tranquillity, but she wished other people were around this time. Her freezing hands clutched into the letters that she refused to open since a week ago. Aurora has constantly been visiting the owlery for the last couple of days to check for new letters, but all she found was Happy (or Grumpy), who tried to bite her fingers off. This time, there was a book and an envelope tied to it.
She decided to open each letter from the oldest with a slight smile on her face. Her smile turned into a scowl immediately as she read the first and second letters. “Stop pretending like you’re my dad.” She mumbled to herself in annoyance.
Aurora moved on to the third letter that was from her mom. She held her breath for a couple of seconds when the letter mentioned her father briefly. Aurora turned her head up to stop the tears from falling down her cheek.
Her hand held her chest to calm her down, breath in, breath out. One letter to go, she thought. She expected it to be another one from her mom, but how wrong she was.
The cold wind did not help with the situation either. At that moment, it like a thousand needles pricked into her skin. Her chest felt tighter, and her eyes became blurry. Now, she cannot hold back her tears and just let them come down as she sat down on the cold tile of the owlery.

Hi, it’s Josh. Your dad or your stepdad. Your mom forbids me to send you a new sketchbook that you asked for, but here you go. It might make you less cranky, I hope.
I know you made it clear that you dislike me, but I guess it’s a good thing for you to hear my perspective or read in this scenario. I don’t expect you to read the letter, but I hope you will.
To be really honest, when your mom told me that she’s a witch, I thought she lied. Not in a million years, I would have thought magic is real, but it is. I was shocked and didn’t know what to do. I did not talk to your mom for weeks because I need to figure out what I need to do. Quite a jerk move, am I right? And here I am, married to your mom.
Magic was wild. Even after three years of knowing the existence of magic, I still entirely dumbfounded with everything. And it was overwhelming, but I don’t blame anyone, I don’t blame your mom, nor you. It was my choice to be a part of the family and I hope you can see that I tried to be a good person, a good father figure for you, and i am still trying. I know I will never replace Alexander, and I never intend to. And I hope you know that was never my intention.
I know it will be hard for you to accept me into your life finally. And I will not rush you for something you’re not ready for. I just really want you to know that I do care for you, despite our constant arguments and all that. And I am sorry. I’m just worried as you’re getting older, you will never see me as a family.
This is my first time being a dad, and I have zero experience with kids. I once almost dropped my friend’s baby, but that’s not what’s important right now, and no, that was not an excuse for me not being a good father for you.
But please, if you don’t mind, I would love to accompany you to the Hogwarts express in your second year.

Lunch Time
There she was again, struggled to tame her mother's owl that won't stop trying to eat her entire hand. She would love to petrify the owl, but she hasn't learned about it yet.
"Heyyyyy grumps! why don't you behave for one minute, ONE MINUTE, and be a nice owl like, like-" her hand motioned to the rest of the owls in the owlery, some of them were asleep, some ripped letters, some stared at Aurora with lots of hatred, "like your fellow owls!"
"Nevermind, guess I'm not an owl person."
The Ravenclaw threw the envelop to Grumpy aka. Happy to avoid it from biting her again. Grumpy, being the annoying owl, moved towards Aurora to bite her arm before catching the letter. Then the owl flew to the sky, to Canterbury.

What’s the sketchbook for? You know you cannot bribe me. But, thanks, I guess. Please ignore the date, I wrote it on that day. But you’ll probably get this on 19 or 20th. I’m a bit, busy, with something. Don’t ask.
You know, as much I hate to admit it to you, what you said in that letter really did mean something to me. I hope you meant everything you said. Because if you don’t, I have lots of spells that I am more than happy to cast on you. I have good grades, so don’t ever underestimate me.
However, after lots of thought, I think I will give you ONE chance, so I recommend you not to waste it. There are a couple of things that I want to ask you. Consider this as a way to get to know me. Can you tell mom to allow me to get a pet? Anything but spiders, lizards, snakes, toads, and owl are fine. So I only have a cat and pygmy puff as the options. And, I want to dye my hair before my second-year start, and you MUST let me and defend me when my mom spits fire on my face. Don’t tell mom about that yet. You’re the first one to know. Consider yourself lucky. If you agree on doing what I asked, you can take me to the platform 93/4.
Do we have a deal?
Also, i think you better change your name. There will be a fight between Joshes and you will lose for sure. Oh, and tell mom I got into the quidditch team as a second string beater. Unexpected, huh?
